Following the success of IKEA’s Hammersmith store, RYNO was again specified by BDP for the retailer’s Oxford Street flagship - a high-profile commercial fit-out on one of London’s busiest shopping streets. The project required a robust, fire-safe solution for a rooftop terrace subject to strict wind uplift mitigation requirements.

The Challenge:

The rooftop terrace demanded a secure paving system that could manage wind uplift risks without compromising visual appeal. With pedestrian access, high foot traffic, and long-term durability in mind, the solution also needed to meet strict non-combustibility requirements and provide a refined finish in line with IKEA’s elevated design standards.

The Solution: TerraSmart® Rail System with Hidden Wind Uplift Restraint

RYNO’s TerraSmart® Rail System was selected for its structural strength, safety credentials, and seamless compatibility with concealed wind uplift restraint – an essential element for the exposed rooftop site.

In this case, the designers opted for the Liddio Porcelain Paver in the diorite beige tone to complement the robust functionality of the TerraSmart® system with an elevated aesthetic appeal.
