Applicable to both C and Z sections. The first 3 digits indicate the depth of the section (i.e. 100 is 100 mm deep). The last two digits indicate the material thickness (i.e. 10 is 1.0 mm).

Tolerances of ±5 mm in overall length, ±1 mm in flange width, ±1 mm in depth and ±1.5 mm in hole centres.

Manufacturer guidance

Preferred method of dimensioning is hole centre to hole centre rather than referenced from one end. Overall purlin length is also required for dimensional checking.

Standard hole centres include:

  • 18 x 22 mm holes, 40 mm apart for 100 mm purlin.
  • 18 x 22 mm holes, 60 mm apart for 150 mm purlin (in Victoria, standard is 18 x 22 mm holes, 70 mm apart).
  • 18 x 22 mm holes, 110 mm apart for 200 mm purlin.
  • 18 x 22 mm holes, 160 mm apart for 250 mm purlin.
  • 22 mm round holes, 210 mm apart for 300 mm purlin.
  • 22 mm round holes, 260 mm apart for 350 mm purlin.
  • 22 mm round holes, 310 mm apart for 400 mm purlin.

Alternative hole sizes, shapes and centres are available upon request.
