Now fourteen years on, after continuous use all day every day within the capital, the picnic tables are in as good of a condition now as when they were first supplied!Each picnic table was repainted during lockdown to continue to protect each unit from weather and general wear and tear, enabling each picnic table to last another ten years and beyond!Back in 2008, when Network Rail was looking to upgrade the concourse outside Euston station, they approached Falco to develop a bespoke picnic table solution. Based on the original FalcoBloc range of seating, the new design for the main West Coast terminus was specially adapted to meet the needs of the travelling public. Falco’s street furniture design team took the popular FalcoBloc table and adapted it in conjunction with the requirements of Network Rail’s station management team. Falco were able to provide Man City when they chose the high quality and robust FalcoBloc picnic tables range, capable of withstanding high use and constant demand. Back in 2010, the picnic tables formed part of the club’s new development for a City Square entertainment zone, a vibrant and state-of-the-art fan experience which was a new concept in British football, located on Joe Mercer Way outside the City store. Thirty nine FalcoBloc benches were supplied along with another 20 robust FalcoSwing tables to form a seating and ‘perch’ arrangement at the Blue Moon Café. Other facilities originally provided include giant LED screens, entertainment and a superb new menu devised with the help of top chef Marco Pierre White.The Man City v Liverpool rivalry match on the 23rd August 2010 provided the perfect occasion for the grand opening of the City Square. As part of an expansion plan to increase student numbers, Denham Village School commissioned a brand-new building to accommodate new classrooms and a sports hall.The school selected the legendary Versa Wall Pocket to make optimal use of their new sports hall space by introducing dining tables and benches that fold up in minutes and store in recessed pockets built into the walls.The Wall Pocket system has proven to be the perfect answer for dining in multi-use school halls across the country. Nishkam School required a complete end-to-end supply, delivery and installation of fixed and loose furniture in their stunning new-build West London school which spanned three floors and two wings. As part of this large fit-out, our mother company Westcountry Group supplied nearly 2,500 furniture items across the school, including a number of Benchmark dining tables in the large school halls.The Benchmark tables make a great addition to the halls and have provided Nishkam with a space-efficient and very flexible folding dining furniture solution. The former Boothen Neighbourhood Centre in Stoke has been given a new lease of life thanks to the MESC Table Tennis Club (MESC TTC) who have taken the facility on as their new base - attracting players from outside the local area. The club, which has been in existence for over 60 years now boasts 90m2 of world class beating Taraflex® Table Tennis Sports floor from international flooring specialist Gerflor in ‘Red’ for their main sports room and it looks first class.MESC TTC is a Table Tennis England “Premier Club and it has members of all ages ranging from 8-80+ years of age. They also coach juniors and have teams in the National Cadet and Junior League. The intention is that the new venue will move the club forward and eventually become a centre of excellence in the area. The building is now in use seven days a week and offers a place for both experienced and developing table tennis players of all ages to hone their skills.Malcolm Dawson, Chairman, MESC TTC commented, “The project came about because we were moving to our new premises, which we took over from the Local Authority as part of a Community Asset Transfer. We had been developing the venue from a very small hall, with offices and storerooms into a fit for purpose table tennis specific venue. This involved security fencing outside, security cameras, installing a new ceiling plus LED lighting, removing internal walls, and finally upgrading the sports floor to an Olympic pedigree solution.”Malcolm Dawson added, “We chose Gerflor’s Taraflex Table Tennis Sports Floor after much research, and as this flooring is approved by the ITTF (which is the Table Tennis’s international governing body), we knew it would be perfectly fit for purpose and our user’s needs.”The installation of the Gerflor Taraflex® Table Tennis Sports floor would need to be undertaken by a company who would meet the high levels of professionalism that the laying of the new floor would demand. Manchester-based XL Gym Interiors Ltd would be the appointed flooring contractor. The staff at XL Gym Interiors have worked in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years, and witnessed trends come and go. Their job is to make sports facilities current, interesting, and an enjoyable space to train and compete in.

Christ The King College required a dining furniture solution that would enhance their multi-use hall and make the most of the space they had.Once again our popular Versa Wall Pocket folding dining tables proved to be the best option to provide a space-efficient dining furniture solution.The college can now store all their dining furniture on the wall meaning the hall has been freed up for other activities throughout the day.

Ashmead Combined School in Aylesbury can now set up their lunchtime furniture in 8 minutes – that’s seating for 240 students!The six double Wall Pockets which seat approximately 240 pupils takes around eight minutes to set up; a massive time saving on their previous furniture. This time-saving in turn allows the hall to be used as a sports facility for longer each day.The fold-away system ultimately pays for itself as the need for fewer staff to set-up is saving the school money on a daily basis. Boxgrove’s multi-use hall was the perfect candidate for the Versa Wall Pocket system. They struggled daily with seating their students in a tight timeframe and only had a very limited area to store their dining furniture.Our teams installed two quadruple and one triple Wall Pocket systems in the hall, complete in the school’s brand colours. Baltic Triangle in Liverpool is part of a £100m development scheme, combining 308 individual apartments, gym, communal meeting areas, commercial floor space, receptions as well as parking and an external picnic area. The buildings are a stone's throw away from the famous World Heritage Site, Royal Albert Dock. The brief for the external picnic area was to design seating and tables to reflect Liverpool’s industrial heritage. Artform recommended the Spencer Litter Bin and the Pic-Nic Table & Bench for their contemporary finish in corten steel. The table and bench ends incorporated bespoke laser cutting elements into the design.

Project: Goole Town Center, YorkshireGOplastic Ltd were delighted to be contacted by the architectural assistant at East Riding Council with a view to getting involved with town centre improvement.Goole Town Centre has now been furnished with the very latest modern and contemporary designs available from Goplastic, with a contrasting colour theme to great effect. Historically, recycled products tended to be basic in style and brown or black but GOplastic has successfully accomplished its’ vision to bring unique designs with more colour into the materials, which are now in demand in schools, academies, leisure centres and public spaces. The Matrix 08 Picnic table (pictured), is 2m long and seats 6 – 8 comfortably. The Matrix 05 bench (also pictured), can be teamed with the London table as shown, or serve as a single bench seat with back. Planters from the Agora range complemented the seating range.

The Goodwin Development Trust are an organisation committed to improving the quality of life within the communities of Hull. Their Octagon Centre provides a range of services that meets the many needs of the community which includes floor space for the Goodwin Table Tennis Club (GTTC) to practice and play on. Providing a suitable playing surface for the GTTC would involve a local flooring installer supplying 300m2 of top-quality flooring from international flooring specialist Gerflor. In 2018, BioInnovation Institute constructed its new facility in Copenhagen. They required 2.300 square meters of lab space. This was needed to help life science startups accelerate their research. New development Colindale offices is recently home to London Borough of Barnet staff and community facilities. Furnitubes has supplied 6 table and bench sets and a further 7 independent benches from the RailRoad Inline range, with ‘Delta’ supports that can be readily bolted down to the decking of the new roof terrace located on the 4th floor. Eleven RailRoad planters have been placed in the gravel margins to perfectly compliment the nearby seating, and planted with contemporary box topiary balls.

What a week! The new Centre for Immersive Storytelling at the Royal Holloway University of London has been designed to provide education in virtual and augmented reality technologies. This modern building stands adjacent to the University’s signature gothic Founder’s Building, providing a conflicting mixture of architectural design styles. The external social areas were brought to life with 14 Plateau Picnic Tables, creating a vibrant space suitable for studying and socialising, with the connected benches seating up to 12 people. The High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) picnic tables are both attractive and durable for outdoor use, ideal for busy and energetic students.

THE BRIEFExternal picnic tablesEmanuel School is an independent, co-educational school for pupils aged 10 to 18 located in Battersea, South West London. Langley Design were tasked with providing the school with a range of external picnic tables that could offer the students a place to eat, socialise and work from.We adapted our popular SPT317 picnic tables (which are traditionally provided in Timber or Recycled Plastic) to be manufactured using millboard decking.WHAT WE DIDHand-moulded materialThis is hand-moulded from natural timbers in a unique combination of resin and mineral stone and is almost indistinguishable from real wood yet designed to outperform it. By combining this material with the galvanised and powder coated metal frame we were able to produce our SPT317 unit in a modern and stylish design. THE RESULTDurable and stylish finishThe school were delighted with the result and we look forward to working with them again over the coming years.

Bishop David Brown School required a dining solution that increased student capacity for lunchtime dining in next-to-no-space.Versa delivered five double Wall Pocket systems. That’s seating for up to 200 students in one sitting at lunchtime.They’ll have some happy mealtime staff and students we guarantee!

A stylish redevelopment of a courtyard at Stratford University. The project needed products that matched the aesthetic of the Stratford Cultural Quarter landscape. Artform were chosen as the preferred supplier on a range of architectural street furniture. The Parc Vue range of case style furniture was specified. The package included the Parc Vue Tables and Chairs by Landscape Forms along with a selection of sleek stainless steel bins and bollards, and elegant timber and steel benches.

Contemporary concrete benches and tables are very much at home in the historic King Edward VI Aston School setting.

GOplastic Ltd were contacted by the Head of Estates and Campus Services Donna Vallance.The University’s requirements were for the supply of sustainable and environmentally friendly seating and tables for their London Campus buildings, based near India Dock in East London.A site meeting was agreed and proved to be extremely important for this project. The terrace had a narrow width which meant the correct size and arrangement of seating was essential.The terrace is on the 7th floor of the building, so this also needed considered planning in relation to delivery and installation.To overcome these challenges, GOplastic offered the Canvas Table and Canvas 120 benches. The Canvas bench and table are part of the Govaplast® range of award winning recycled plastic products. A distinct advantage for this project is the Canvas range can be delivered in semi kit form and easily transported to the 7th floor in the internal service lifts.Seating and tables to accommodate up to 50 people were delivered and installed in just one day.Job type: Supply and installWaste plastic prevented from landfill: 1.7 tonnes.

Enfield Town Park is a 9.5-hectare green open space in the heart of the Enfield Town, north London. Following a series of consultations with the public and park user groups, works were undertaken in to restore the lake, reinstate public access to it, repair the leaks, and add wildlife friendly features to the area. Furnitubes supplied two types of products to the scheme – concrete Blyth cube seating blocks and Parallel table and bench sets.

THE BRIEFBespoke manufacturer and installerLangley Design were chosen by Willmott Dixon to lead the way on the multimillion pound Landmark building at Hans Price Academy. This was part of a wider £14 million renovation project at the college in Weston-super-Mare.Willmott Dixon needed a bespoke manufacturer and installer who knew what they were doing and who could offer a product and service that far exceeded expectations. WHAT WE DIDOutdoor timber canopyLangley Design's bespoke manufacturing capabilities enabled an L shaped timber canopy to be made which spans the length of the buildings. These canopies offer the end user so many different options such as outdoor dining, general student socialising, teaching and now even social distancing (a word not even in our vocabulary when these were installed).THE RESULTExterior picnic tablesWe also provided some further products from our Sheldon range, these included picnic tables and benches for the children to use for the social and dining activities listed as a benefit of the canopy.We also provided our galvanised and powder coated litter bins here to finish the external areas off.Our prompt and efficient installation team also enabled Willmott Dixon to complete the project nine weeks early.

THE BRIEFA visually stunning new link canopyLocated in Beverley, East Yorkshire, Longcroft School & 6th Form College provides local students a rich and varied range of educational opportunities in addition to their formal curriculum, including drama and music productions, sports and their Skills for Life programme.As part of the Priority School Building Programme 2 (PSBP2), Langley Design working alongside Henry Construction provided a visually stunning new link canopy and covered walkway uniting the schools existing buildings to the brand new block.WHAT WE DIDA striking splash of colourThe new block provides the school three additional floors of teaching space consisting of science labs & preparation rooms, a learning resource centre, teacher workroom and new student reception. The large Sheldon SPG326 canopy features a non-fragile polycarbonate roof, that provides cover and shade whilst offering a striking splash of colour to the scheme. THE RESULTDurable and long lasting solutionThe SPG326 is available in a range of materials, finishes and roofing colours suitable for a variety of project needs, and provided the school with additional space for the Sheldon Picnic Table set (SPT312/SBN310) offering extra dining facilities for the students, with black recycled plastic slats these are a durable and long lasting solution requiring almost no maintenance that will still look great in the years to come.

Measurements made on a glass measuring table led to unusable results because the isolator used was unable to cope with the lateral stiffness of the products used. Only the low-frequency pneumatic isolators PAL 21 from ACE with automatic level control could provide a remedy. A special feature of these membrane pneumatic isolators lies in the level control valve, which has, by virtue of its construction, an above-average longevity. Relatively large acceleration forces can lead to horizontal movements and it is particularly in such situations that the robustness and durability of the isolation system make a significant contribution.

Holiday Inn, Zurich, chose EGGER finishes for the contemporary and welcoming amenity spaces. H3395 ST12 Natural Corbridge Oak provided a warm woodgrain decor combination for the palette of muted brights.Using Eurodekor MFC for case goods meant project costs were controlled, while matching laminate provided resilient table tops for the public spaces.Availability of the decor in matcihing Flammex Eurodekor MFC meant design consistency could be maintained across applications with fire protection requirements such as wall panelling.

THE BRIEFDigital skills centre landscaped courtyard at Cirencester CollegeLangley Design worked with E G Carter & Co on the new £4 million digital skills centre at Cirencester College and we were pleased to be able to offer our services on this local project. There was a requirement here for some curved timber seating for the newly landscaped courtyard areas. WHAT WE DIDPremium seating facilities for studentsWe manufactured and installed our Sheldon benches SBN307 in Class 4 Treated Redwood timber with a Dark Oak stain to give a more premium finish. The client opted for the more stylish flat legs for the benches which were powder coated to RAL8040 to tie in with the building façade. We also supplied our smaller Sheldon Cube SBN316 to provide individual seating facilities for the students. THE RESULTAn ongoing relationship with the collegeThe college were really pleased with our products and approached us directly a few months later to provide some picnic tables and benches to their roof terrace for the staff to enjoy the outdoors during breaktimes.The same material was chosen for these products to ensure consistency across the site.

A range of specialist fittings were supplied by GEC Anderson, for use the police forensic laboratory.These included a large height adjustable examination table; cabinets shelving and work surfaces with integrated bowls, upstands and special drainers. Perforated, height adjustable stepless shelving (GEC Anderson V90 System) was also supplied.Single-piece L-shaped stainless steel worktop with integral bowls, integral upstands and perforated draining rack. Shelving and cabinets with 'D' handles.
