A fire curtain is used where, if there is a fire, it is necessary to create a temporary barrier within an opening which seals off the area on fire. The curtain descends and prevents any fire and smoke from spreading from one area to another. It also allows people access to protected escape routes without any loss of fire resistance. A FM-1 fire curtain comprises a flexible fire-resistant fabric which is wound around a circular tube. Upon receiving a signal from the fire alarm system or on loss of power the curtain automatically unwinds to its operational position. FM-1 fire curtains have been tested as fire barriers in accordance with EN 1634-1, providing protection for a defined period and at a defined maximum temperature.

They are compact and cost-effective entrance solutions designed for smooth and silent operation, for areas where there is a large flow of people. On receiving a signal from the access control system, or push button, it allows the passage of one person at a time. Available in Normally Closed (N/C) configuration to lock the mechanism until a valid authorisation signal is received, or available in Normally Open (N/O) configuration to lock the mechanism in the event of attempted unauthorised entry. In case of emergency, the hub can freely rotate to allow an easier exit. You can also choose the drop arm option which automatically drops the horizontal arm to allow free passage. LED way mode indicators included as standard.

Teckentrup's expertise is the manufacture of steel fire doors and steel fire doorsets. It has left its mark in on fire protection in Germany for decades. The UK & Ireland are the only major European markets where it is NOT mandatory to specify steel personnel fire doorsets and fire doors with both insulation and integrity fire ratings. In a fire situation an un-insulated, hollow metal fire doorset will contain a fire but offer little resistance to the passage of radiated heat. The Teckentrup T60-FSA Fire Resistant steel doorset and fire door is tested to EN1634-1. It provides up to 120 minutes integrity and up to 60 minutes insulation, increasing the safety of any people in proximity to the fire door in a fire situation. The Teckentrup 62 modular door is available with LPS1175 SR3 rating.
