In the event of a fire, if the mains electrical supply to the building is cut, the OS2 offers a fail-safe option as it incorporates a backup battery system to ensure the Natural Smoke Vents will still open. Special control units for unique applications can also be manufactured.

Floor door and basement access hatch with a recessed 'pan type' lid to accommodate a floor infill to match the surrounding area. HIAC Access covers are gas spring assisted or electric operation manufactured from aluminium. The pan type lid can have a stainless steel trim around the top edge. The access cover is not watertight but is self-draining. Any water passing the seals will be dispersed via an integral drainage channel. Floor cover is designed with a recess up to 80mm to take architectural flooring material.

This report describes driving rain tests carried out by BRE to determine the performance of Tapco Classic Slates to wind driven rain. The testing was carried out to the requirements of prEN15601. The main conclusions from these tests are:
At a roof pitch of 12 degrees the Tapco Classic Slates are expected to perform satisfactory under wind driven rain.
As the roof pitch increases the weathertightness performance of tiles and slates tends to improve. Therefore, it is expected that the Tapco Classic Slates will also perform satisfactorily at pitches steeper than 12 degrees.
