Optima TFC+ has been developed as an economical alternative to a complete secret fix rainscreen. Whilst being the most economical rainscreen solution, requiring discreet fixings in the vertical panel recess, the engineering of the system retains the benefits of a drained and ventilated façade. Superior manufacturing techniques ensure there will be no build-up of metal thicknesses at the cruciform joint. The system has been independently tested and certified to meet CWCT rigorous specification for rainscreen cladding. This drained and ventilated system consists of a baffle-jointed series of panels that creates a weather shield in front of a primary structure. Downer DCS004 Framing System is designed to provide a mechanical secret fix support to most rainscreen cladding panels using the principle of a ventilated façade.
DCS004 MSF can be installed onto our DCS031 Helping Hand, DCS041 Floor to Floor or DCS021 Omega & Zed system offering design freedom to suit project specific thermal and structural demands and variation in cavity depths.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
The ends of any DCS004 Horizontal Carrier Rail unsupported cantilever should be ≤150mm or as dictated by project specific static calculations.
At building corner locations, HCR cantilever can be increased up to max. 300mm and must be strapped to adjacent HCR using an “L” rail angle such as DCS031 60×40 L rail.

Attach one piece of the Roll Ventilator by placing the end square corrugation over the rafter and fixing with staples or nails.
The ventilator should be placed to ensure the airflow from the soffit area is not restricted by the roof insulation.
By lightly stretching the roll along its length, the square corrugations will fall into line automatically with rafters at 400mm and 600mm centres and can easily be extended to suit 450mm centres.
