The vegetating of a roof surface is described under a number of generic terms: brown roof, biodiverse roof, living roof etc. Each has evolved from the original terminology green roof for marketing reasons or to differentiate specific methods of achieving habitat creation for flora or fauna. To further complicate matters there are generic technical descriptions, used globally in standards and code of practice, to describe
the construction of green roof systems. These are Extensive, Semi-Intensive, Intensive and Biodiverse.
Following is a guide to some of the more common options available together with a brief overview of what they are and what they provide.
MEDITE EXTERIOR MDF - For use in a wide range of external applications
MEDITE SMARTPLY
MEDITE EXTERIOR is used as an alternative to softwood, hardwood, plywood, plastic and metal in non-stressed applications. It can be used for a wide range of external applications including: external signs, shop fronts and external woodwork including fascias, exterior mouldings, door parts - raised and fielded panels, garden furniture components, exterior display stands, marine craft interiors and sports score boards. MEDITE EXTERIOR is suitable for conditions in accordance with H (Option 2) as defined by EN 622 part 5. To ensure durability, MEDITE EXTERIOR must be adequately sealed on all surfaces and edges with an exterior grade coating system. When appropriately coated, MEDITE EXTERIOR is suitable for use in Hazard classes 1,2 and 3 environments described within EN 335-3.
