In the event of a fall, the TowerLatch or LadderLatch unit locks onto the cable to arrest the fall and a fluorescent red indicator is exposed to indicate that a fall has occurred. A built-in Constant Force energy absorber or a webbing energy absorber on the device ensures that the maximum load on the worker and end anchor in the event of a fall does not exceed 6 kN.

With a smoke detector system (e.g. DORMA RMZ) it can be used as a hold-open system for fire and smoke check doors. The free-swing feature enables the door to be operated without resistance and, in the event of an alarm or power failure, reliably close by the reinstating action of the door closer.
