AATi Commercial was engaged by the interior designers, Avocado Sweets, regarding the supply of suitable Cast metal anti-slip stair Nosings for Poppies Fish and Chip Restaurant in Camden, London.

Retail giants, Sports Direct opened a new store in Middlesbrough town centre and have specified NSL02 stair nosings to be used on all of their interior stairs. NSL02 is a slimline rakeback profile that is suited for high levels of footfall, combined with the excellent level of slip resistance that these profiles provide, makes the NSL02 the perfect choice of nosing to be used. A white insert has been used on the top and bottom step in each set of stairs in-order to aid the visually impaired when distinguishing where and when one set ends and another begins.

Pizza Hut in Glasgow have specified NSL15.16 to be used on their staircases to add a stylish look to the stairs whilst minimising the risk of slippage. The NSL15 stair nosing profile is designed to be used in most commercial and industrial applications. It is a straight edged, slimline profile and Pizza Hut have requested a black PVC insert finish.

Thanks to AATi’s facility to incorporate bespoke patterns within their stair nosings, Superdry customers are able to shop in safety.Being both aesthetically pleasing and particular to the Superdry Stores the new tailor made nosing which AATi has designed still has the usual high safety, longevity and hard wearing characteristics known through some of their existing profiles.

The complete transformation of a North London apartment block grand entrance hall, lobby and staircase now features a sophisticated and stunning appearance with revolutionary Porcel-Thin® tiles, and Schlüter®-TREP stair nosing profiles.

AATi worked closely with London Underground engineers to design a fully cladded stair system that was, hardwearing, compact and easily to install. AATi supplied Nickel Bronze SN93/SL3/280 standard cast metal Antislip stair nosings along with a 300mm deep version of the SN93/SL3/280 and riser plates also in cast nickel bronze.

AATi have supplied various establishments across the UK including Taunton, Salford Quays and more recently Farringdon.AATi supplied type- SN30/60 Cast Iron anti-slip stair nosings that were zinc plated black.

Seen on all street entrances and internal staircases, AATi type SN93/SL3/140 + SN93/SL3/280 cast metal anti-slip stair nosings are featured throughout and also include London Underground corporate Blue anti-slip resin inserts.

Canada Water is located in Rotherhithe and is the busiest two-platform National Rail station, with 23.7 million entries and exits to the NR platforms in 2015/16. The AATi cast metal anti-slip stair nosings are still in service performing remarkably 16 years later.

With annual passenger footfall figures in the region of 29 million in 2016, AATi was an obvious choice when selecting stair nosings to cope with the enormous and increasing footfall at the station, not to mention the use of abundant and ungainly heavy wheeled suitcases that appear to continuously damage staircases today.

As part of the first element in the redesign and redevelopment of the Birmingham Line, Birmingham New Street Station is having major refurbishment works completed. As one of the busiest mainline train stations outside of London, this station demands the best in quality and design of stair nosings, and AATi were on hand to supply them.

AATi have supplied Du Boulay Contracts Ltd cast metal anti-slip stair nosings for several Hawksmoor restaurants up and down the UK. Du Boulay Contracts Ltd is a specialist commercial fit-out contractor, based in London, who have worked closely with AATi on numerous projects.

Development is underway at Frasers Tower, Singapore with many offices being snapped up by major worldwide companies. Shiseido, the Japanese cosmetics group have taken 50,000 sq ft, Arup engineering and environmental consultancy company have taken 40,000 sq ft, Microsoft have taken 125,000 sq ft and French energy giant, Total have leased over 100,00 sq ft at the Tower in Singapore. The Genesis stair nosing, NHD24 has been specified to be used on all stair cases within the Total Oil floors. NHD24 is a rakeback nosing that provides excellent slip resistance whilst looking smart and stylish.

Following AATi’s long association with LUL, and other major rail developments, bespoke versions of AATi's SN93/SL3/280 stair nosings with plain ends and landing plates all cast in Nickel Bronze were specified for the many stairs at St. Pancras Thameslink along with other various products. The castings were all made and cut to specific widths &lengths, the coloured resin fill was stopped short at the ends to satisfy the architect's exacting details.

Industrial Sensor Specialist Longvale Ltd located at Lancaster Park in Burton Upon Trent, have selected Schlüter-LIPROTEC illuminated profile technology in conjunction with Schlüter-TREP stair nosing profiles to give their feature staircase a unique lighting design with a modern, slip resistant finish, within the entrance to their brand new facility.

Hollywood Bowl in Teesside required a simple, stylish stair nosing that would prevent customers from slipping when walking between the lanes and the upper area of the interior. NSL15 with a white insert was used and the results speak for themselves, they look truly stunning!. The NSL Profile is designed to be used in most commercial and industrial applications with a coloured PVC insert.

AATi supplied the standard but robust SN30/60 cast Iron anti-slip stair nosing to the Museum located in Pinner Memorial Park close to where the artist worked and lived. These items were zinc plated to give a dark black finish and therefore, achieving a sufficient colour contrast with the surrounding surface assuring building regulation compliance.

CAT stair nosings have been installed into one of the Worlds first purpose-built meeting facilities based in Westminster, London.​AN69 was the main section to fit the rounded step edge, then aluminium extension piece ANEXT creating a wider tread connected to an ANRE25 ramp edge at the back covering the safety vinyl flooring. Finally, the robust Aluminium ATI49.5 aluminium inserts were inserted into the tread of the AN69 to conceal the screw head fixings and give an all-aluminium finish.​Opening in 1912, the Great Hall has an impressively long history for hosting various events, the first meeting of the United Nations in 1946, debates, concerts and shelter for Londoners during the second world war.​Situated in the venues undercroft, Wesley’s Cafe is a hot spot for visitors and especially popular with tourists, the cafe covers over 300m2 and also is adjacent to further event space. Due to the entrance into the cafe is via a staircase, the constant high footfall called for a stair nosing made up from a combination of our Aluminium products.

Wireworks London approached us looking for a modern industrialised Oak to clad onto a winding staircase in a beautiful London home. Amongst the options we presented was our CH-E780. This a White Oak with a brushed and band sawn surface giving it a clean yet worn texture. The rusticgrade Oak allows for some knotting to appear without it overpowering carefully detailed floorboards.These boards are finished with a commercial grade UV cured oil that makes it hard wearing and easy to maintain. This particular product has also been fitted throughout the busy, modern offices at 3 Shortlands, Hammersmith. It is easily one of our most popular surfaces and finishes.Wireworks didn’t want a separate stair nose component, instead opting for mitring the length of the boards to a 45-degree angle and jointing them together with a biscuit and high quality PVA glue. The effect is a stunning cascade of band sawn Oak which looks like it was purpose built in a specialist workshop or factory. This an excellent example of the ingenuity of the team at Wireworks and the adaptability of wood flooring.Would you like to see this type of cladding in using a herringbone parquet? Network Rail’s nationwide initiative for high specification, durable AFA platform access bridges required AATi to supply re-engineered ‘Coverall’ combined stair nosing and step covers. These small design changes have again improved bridge construction techniques and the long-term performance of the stairway, and removed dirt-traps and improved drainage. AATi supplied their SN293 WL307 UR to fit the needs.

Genesis NHD18 Stair Nosing is currently being installed throughout Heathrow Terminal 5 and most recently Terminal 3 renovations creating a safe environment for employees and travellers alike. This traffic meant the profile had to be very durable & still provide the necessary safety properties. Working closely with BAA and the contracts team on the new Heathrow Terminal 5 complex, Genesis Global Systems Ltd helped design and supply in excess of some 10,000 linear meters of this bespoke interior nosing and are now proud to associate them with BAA as a preferred supplied of choice for their flooring accessory solutions throughout.

ATi Supplied anti-slip stair nosings for another AFA ‘Access for All’ footbridge at Liphook station in Hampshire. This is part of a Network Rail replacement project worth £5.3million, the bridge is set to provide better journeys for passengers and improve station access. The structure features a lift on each platform to provide the step-free access for disabled users. The footbridge with runs over two platforms, upgrading CCTV and lighting simultaneously.

Located in one of Aberdeen’s historic buildings at the heart of the city, Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel is Sandman Hotel Group’s first hotel in Scotland and provides bold, luxurious accommodations. The Hotel is situated in the former Robert Gordon University St Andrews Street campus and is a historic building which contributes to the architectural landscape of the city with 218 beautifully appointed guest rooms. The hotel required long lasting, beautiful to look at, anti-slip stair nosings that would stand the test of time… the contractors specified Genesis NHD08 with an Ice Grey insert – perfect choice!

Decommissioned in the late 20th century and the Triplets have now been restored and currently reside in their new home north of Regents Canal, facilitating new studio apartments. For the new renovation, it would have been a shame not to include any cast metal components, which have been deeply imbedded into London’s habitat over the years. AATi were on hand to deliver Cast Gunmetal SN30/60 anti-slip stair nosings along with curved Gunmetal anti-slip Floor Plates as pictured right. These Floor Plates suit the external radius of the Gas Holder Triplets.

After a much anticipated wait Spurs have finally moved into their new stadium. The stadium is now one of the largest in the Premier League with a capacity of 62,062, boasting the world’s first dividing retractable football pitch to reveal a synthetic turf underneath, enabling NFL matches to be played at White Hart Lane along with concerts and other events. Working closely with F3 Architects to create a bespoke design incorporating the clubs branding onto theanti-slip stair nosings. Bespoke design is just one service that AATi can offer, with the latest 3D printing and CNC machining.

Humber Enterprise Park is an 86-acre site in Brough, East Yorkshire developed on the site previously owned by BAE Systems. Gradus carpet, matting and stair edgings (fitted using Gradus Grip) were used throughout. "Using Gradus Grip adhesive for fixing down the Gradus GTX51 & GXT11 profiles at Humber Enterprise Project was more cost effective as it is quicker than mechanically fixing each nosing, it also shortened the installation time as the adhesive sets quicker so there is no need to shut the staircases off for long periods." Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing underlayment and Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier have been used in the refurbishment of a thirty-year-old Routemaster bus to create a library for children at Tolworth Nursery. On the top deck of the bus, Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing underlayment was applied over a firmly secured plywood subfloor. On both floors, Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier was used to install premium fibre-bonded carpet tiles. Styccobond F66 solvent-free contact adhesive was used to install carpet tiles on the bus’s staircase. Stycco Flex, a rapid-curing flexible adhesive, was then used to attach the aluminium stair nosings.

F. Ball and Co. Ltd.’s rapid-setting, ultra-smooth floor finishing compound has delivered a fast-track solution for refurbishing the iconic Nelson Staircase at Somerset House, London.As part of ongoing maintenance and improvement works, flooring contractor Carpet Culture was commissioned to restore the steps and one of the main landings of the historic Beaux-Arts staircase, which spans six floors and dates back to the late 18th century, when the Royal Navy occupied the building.Contractors began by removing old floorcoverings and adhesive residues from the steps and the 40m2 landing.The landing was destroyed by a bomb in the Second World War and subsequently restored with concrete, meaning that it would require raising in order for floorcoverings to meet the level of the original stone border, but less than the minimum application thickness of a smoothing compound. Additionally, work required completing over two nights, between the hours of 6-11pm, while the building was unoccupied, meaning there was not time to mechanically prepare the concrete area.Contractors, therefore, applied two coats of Stopgap Micro Rapid floor finishing compound to create a perfectly smooth surface for the receipt of floorcoverings.Stone effect LVTs were then installed on the landing and risers and treads of the stairs, and Stycco Flex rapid-curing, flexible tube adhesive was used to affix Gradus stair nosings. The high strength build-up and fast curing time of the adhesive means it can secure stair nosings and trims in as little as 60 minutes, without the need for mechanical fixings.Tom McCullough, senior flooring manager at Carpet Culture, said: “We were grateful to our F. Ball technical representative for suggesting using Stopgap Micro Rapid as an alternative to applying a smoothing compound so that we could complete the work out of hours, on time. It worked a treat, and we received compliments for how it looked even before the floorcoverings went down.”

AATi Rail supplied the SN293/WL/280B on two staircases providing safer access to existing staircases. This nosing gives flexibility with a bevelled back edge reducing the installation cost associated with insetting the nosing into a stair, enabling installation straight onto the existing substrate. AATi worked closely with Client – Network Rail to ensure a high-performance solution was delivered on an extremely high footfall station where stair access can bottleneck.

C.A.T. AN15R stair nosings lead the way on numerous staircases throughout the centre. With aluminium castellated ATI49.5 inserts, visually the all aluminium profiles define the step edges also creating excellent slip resistance. A C.A.T. survey team member attended the site with the customer to discuss the suitability of products and requirements, which enabled faster project completion. Designed by OMA Architects, the £55m centre creates an interplay between sports and sciences. A rooftop running track with panoramic views of the sea leads down to the science and laboratory departments, auditorium, double-height sports hall, internal running track and a 25-metre swimming pool. Central to the building concept was social communication with large break-out spaces connected by wide, visually open staircases that link up departments. ​ ​

Project detailsIn 2008 the MPT consortium* was awarded the Manchester’s Metrolink phase 3a extension project, a 49 stop, £275 million extension to the Manchester Metro. The new build allowed contractors to shop around for the best products for the job, but one essential product could not be found. Throughout this three-year development, best practice and user health and safety have been the priorities. Steps were designed to minimise risk of trips and slips for pedestrians, the disabled and visually impaired. Each of the 1,400 pre-cast concrete steps on the new platforms required a non-slip front edge and MPT scoured the world for suitable products. The design criteria required that the nosing would be: Suitable for heavy use in an external environment Compliant to the Building Regulation Part M Providing a solution in accordance with BS8300 2009 Inner B Code of Practice, against the finished concrete in both wet and dry conditions Our solution Adrian Rowe, MPT Engineering Manager and his team tested a wide range of products, short listing three, including Firm-Step Edge®. Our product met the design criteria but was unavailable in the required specification, size and colour. Not wanting to let this opportunity pass us by, we took up the challenge and developed an exclusive version of Firm-Step Edge® in black, with a 70mm tread and 55mm riser. “Watco was brilliant in sorting out our problem, giving us excellent service throughout. They understood our needs and delivered prototypes in a week. They also developed an exclusive version of their Firm-Step Edge®, in the specified black shade, with a 70mm tread and 55mm riser that fitted on to the rebated precast step to keep the nosing flush. It also had perfect internal angles so it sat snugly on the standard profile of the nose on the precast concrete steps.” Following the first installation in February 2011, Firm-Step Edge® is now being screwed and bonded to steps at every stop along the 49 stop extensions. Firm-Step Edge® is an economical, quick to install safety feature. Firm-Step Edge® offers a tough GRP base that is resistant to stretching, warping and swelling. We offer two grades; medium for internal and coarse for external stairs, both of which are easily glued using Watco Adhesive Mastic or drilled for screw fixing. The textured finish offers excellent slip-resistance and a chamfered back edge minimises trip potential. Available in white or yellow, Firm-Step Edge® can be cut on site if required using a hacksaw or similar cutting tool or we offer a cut to size service. *MPT (M. Project: Heythrop Park, Warner Leisure​Location: The Cotswolds​Design Team: Design LSM​Flooring Contractor: Carters Flooring, Derby The stunning Heythrop Park is an 18th century country house, which has recently undergone a £40 million refurbishment. It was designed by Architect Thomas Archer at the request of the 1st Duke of Shrewsbury, Charles Talbot in 1704, and was inspired by the Italian Baroque style, which the Duke had picked up on his travels to Rome. ​Throughout the years it has been passed through families and has also been used as a College and Training Centre, and then onto a Golf & Country club around 1999.​Bourne Leisure purchased Heythrop Park in 2018, and then reopened in 2022 after the spectacular transformation.  Throughout the Hotel you will find our Brass Flooring Profiles and Stair Nosings, all in a satin brass finish, giving that luxurious but subtle gold detailing.

Overview The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane is located in the City of Westminster and is the oldest theatre in London still in use. There have been four different theatres built on the site, the first of which opened its doors in 1663. The current theatre was designed by Benjamin Dean Wyatt and opened in its current format in 1812. The theatre, now owned and operated by Andrew Lloyd Webber's company LW Theatres, has just gone through an astonishing £60 million refurbishment, designed by architects Haworth Tompkins, which includes new bars, dressing rooms and even a new 16 person lift to grant easy access to upper levels! Installation Over the past 2 years, C.A.T. has worked closely with the client, the architects and the flooring contractors - to supply a range of solid brass flooring profiles and stair nosings throughout this iconic building. Hand-finished here in the UK, these Brass Nosings adorn the staircases within the theatre's auditorium and many of the original cantilevered staircases in the foyers and Royal Boxes. Alongside Loughton Contracts, C.A.T conducted multiple site visits, to measure and template the hundreds of steps across the theatre. These measurements were conveyed to our fabrication team, who worked extremely hard to bring the nosing’s to life and replicate the detail of the treads, to ensure the overall finish was first class. Last but by no means least, as you walk into the newly refurbished theatre foyer, you will be greeted by the stunning bespoke carpet by Alarwool, expertly finished by Loughton Contracts, with our 16mm solid brass rods, hand-turned by our factory and hand finished in antique brass, to match the nosings and trims throughout. Be sure to look up too, the atrium roof is simply stunning!
