HLM, the architectural practice had a very high-end, designer lead project at Park Lane London, which required bespoke components mixed together with standard products forming a warrantied bathroom solution for the client. 15 types of different bespoke XPS shower trays were created for this project and used across the 460 rooms spread over 3 phases.240 bespoke XPS niches were installed and in 210 cases substructure sets were used to reach the required 100mm installation height thus allow for a straightforward replacement of old baths with showers without having to modify the existing pipework.In all bathrooms, wedi XPS building boards were used in 12.5mm thickness for walls and 10mm thickness for floors.RESULT: Thanks to the sub-contractor Milk Leisure, an Approved Partner of a leading manufacturer of XPS shower/bathroom systems, the client received a 100% waterproof bathroom with a 15 year manufacturer’s warranty on the whole installation.

Design-led flooring solutions for the customer-facing areas was decided upon, with Gerflor’s Taralay Impression Control fitting the brief by combining the specification qualities of performance and slip resistance along with aesthetics. A man with a prosthetic limb faced difficulties in his small, impractical bathroom after a leg injury. Collaborating with an Occupational Therapist, Care Spaces redesigned the space, ensuring approval from both the therapist and the user. They revamped the bathroom into a functional wet room, addressing accessibility issues. Key features included a level-access shower, shower seat, non-slip flooring, safety grab rails, an accessible toilet, and basin. The transformed space now meets the user's needs, enabling independent living. Notably, the adaptation benefits the user's son, who has a disability, ensuring a lasting solution for the family.

Our customer required a solution where the floor drains and channels could withstand the variance of temperature in the spa, and support footfall from the public, whilst maintaining an luxurious appearance in line with the environment. Alongside the drains for the changing room showers, using a bespoke design, BLÜCHER created a circular channel to surround the ice fountain, and an arched channel in grade 304 stainless steel with an infill grating to accompany the experience showers. Our infill gratings were the perfect choice for this spa setting, allowing a flawless finish of the chosen floor type against the drainage, completing the aesthetic appeal of the room

As part of this refurbishment, we installed our toughened glass Luminoso shower cubicles, specified in a striking blue to complement Boom Cycle’s brand identity and high energy interior design. The full height shower cubicles were manufactured using 10mm clear float toughened glass for the doors, pilasters and division panels and are set on a stainless steel tubular headrail with matching stainless steel pedestal feet. Each cubicle was finished with double swing hinges, which are self-closing from 25 degrees, stainless steel clothes hooks and a stainless steel pull handle towel rail to the outside.

The existing Bushey Grove health suite was a stark, clinical looking area with gloomy sauna and steam plus a difficult to maintain whirlpool spa with all the plant two floors below. TyloHelo's design concept was to open up the space with glass frontage and dividing walls between thermal rooms and create more comfortable relaxation areas. The design was contemporary with large format tiles in warm, natural colours. The thermal suite comprised a Finnish Salt sauna, Salt inhalation steam room, Herbal sauna, Bucket shower, Feature shower, Ice feature and three heated benches.

ProjectSurespan designed and manufactured a single leaf hatch that was installed in a residential home in Solihull, for access to an underground level gym.ProductThe HIACE external single leaf access hatch to fit a structural opening 1200 x 3400. The pan-type door was recessed for 40mm paving slabs infill with an EPDM unbroken seal to help prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture. The floor hatch was fitted with a retractable safety grid operated by a 24v actuator. FeaturesRated at pedestrian loading, operated by two 24v DC Actuators. 40mm paving slabs infill. We installed new male and female washrooms on four levels and created a new staff shower and changing area in the basement of this recently refurbished office. Our full height, flush front Alto toilet cubicles and Concerto duct panels were finished in the same dark walnut straight grain real wood veneer. The integrated duct panel system is easy-to-clean and allows ease of access for future repairs or maintenance. The crisp white Zodiac stone vanities complete the high specification design. The staff shower and changing area features white Zodiac stone vanities plus our bespoke locker system.

Washroom's off-site service allowed the design to be carefully fine-tuned prior to installation on site for this prestigious office refurbishment project. Washroom's full height Alto toilet cubicle doors were specified with a real wood veneer finish, stained to match the solid Douglas fir timber panelling in the reception area. The bespoke polished cast concrete vanity units feature integral waste bins and Tego hinged mirror units above. For the new staff shower and changing room area Washroom's full height Alto FENIX shower cubicles were installed along with Z style Forza SGL lockers.

Together with its in-house joinery division Washroom delivered a new basement shower and changing area, plus kitchenettes and storage for this redeveloped office. Forte SGL shower cubicles with satin anodised aluminium pedestal legs and 'D’ shaped headrail, were specified in dark grey. The spacious cubicles include a bespoke fold-down bench for extra convenience. Washroom installed bespoke white Corian solid surface vanity units complete with inset wastebin in the superloos. The team also crafted a bespoke oak staircase which runs on every level of the building and installed new oak slatted wall panels throughout to complete the design.

Here we installed new washrooms on two levels of this Covent Garden office and created a new staff shower and changing area. The new washroom design includes our full height Alto Kristalla glass cubicles. The rebated edge design offers an attractive flush front façade together with the contrasting wood veneer-faced pilasters and back-painted glass cubicle doors. We also installed natural stone vanities as well as our Concerto integrated duct panel system and modesty screens, both faced in toughened, back-painted glass. The shower and changing area features our exceptionally durable Forza lockers and matching benching.

We’ve designed and installed a sleek new staff shower area and co-ordinating washrooms for an office in the heart of the City. We installed our highly engineered SGL floor-to-ceiling Marcato shower cubicles in grey with white pilasters to create an attractive striped effect finish. We also installed our Forza SGL lockers in a bespoke Z style. The washrooms, which feature our full height Alto Kristalla glass toilet cubicles, utlise the same colour palette. Our glass faced Concerto integrated duct panel system, bespoke Corian trough style vanity units and Tego storage solution complete the design.

Behind the façade of the iconic Grade II Listed Old Chelsea Town Hall, sits Chelsea Sports Centre. As part of a refurbishment of the showers and changing room areas, Washroom installed its flush front glass iLockers, back-painted in dark grey, together with Forte changing cubicles, manufactured from grey solid grade laminate (SGL), complete with unique Perspex integral roof to let in light while providing complete privacy for users and matching Forte toilet and shower cubicles. Washroom also manufactured bespoke ‘Black Quartz’ Corian vanity units and make-up shelves and installed its Legato benching to complete the design.

The Ascent Aluminium fixed ladder access system was specified to create a permanent safe access route to the roof for maintenance personnel. As the overall height exceeds 10m the ladder was required to be broken with a mid-height rest platform ensuring no single ladder length exceed 6m. Hoops were provided throughout for fall protection, an anti-climb plate was fitted at the base. The ladder was designed in accordance with BS 4211:2005+A1 2008 and the ladder was manufactured in accordance with CE 1090 factory production control procedures.

Helo was commissioned to provide a new health suite for Netherwood Hotel in Cumbria including Herbal Sauna, Aroma Steam Room, Salt Inhalation, Feature Shower and Ice Feature. The conversion of the old tiled pool to three wellness tubs of varying temperatures completed the project.

Meadows Business Park is undergoing a major repositioning, providing modern working for a post covid-19 world. With 3 refurbished buildings positioned in landscaped grounds, providing workspaces, offices, central café, gym, cycle storage and showers. Located next to Blackwater Railway station, tenants of Meadows Business Park can enjoy pop up shops, street food markets, walks around the 100 acre shepherds meadow and even Peloton bikes, as well as a range of classes in the gym.As part of the refurbishment of these buildings, we worked alongside OD Interiors to manufacture and install the lockers and bench seating for the cycle storage and shower areas. As part of the project, we provided 22 wet specification Laminate Z Lockers for the male changing rooms, 22 wet specification Laminate Z Lockers for the female changing rooms and bench seating for both changing areas and the cycle storeroom.The stunning Laminate Z Lockers were manufactured with an aluminium body, stainless steel door frame and Abet Laminate doors. The colours chosen were Mountain Oak and Ice White from Abet’s range of laminate colours. We work with a variety of suppliers of laminate, allowing us to offer a large selection of colours and finishes, from carbon-neutral options, wood effect styles, through to bright pops of colour.In each changing room, 13 of the 22 Z Lockers were fitted with seat stands, with the remaining 9 lockers fitted to stands. The frames for the stands and seat stands are powder coated in RAL colour white, with the seat slats in Mountain Oak laminate to match the locker doors. To keep the project slick and uniform, the end panels, infills and the cladding to hide the stands are in the Ice White laminate, also matching the doors.The locks chosen for the project were the Digilock Versa Keypad locks. These are a great choice for both assigned, or shared use, and so were perfect for the shared changing rooms at Meadow Business Centre. In Clerkenwell, McLaren constructed a new office building with a basement to provide a total 97,000 sq ft of office space. McLaren utilized the existing basement structure which meant the exterior of the structure wasn't accessible. This meant that it was appropriate to use a cavity drain system. FIS worked closely with Henry Construction Projects and Veretec to provide a complete waterproofing service. Designing a system to fit around the existing structure was the challenge. Five Xtralifts and two sets of Xtralift duplexes will support access-for-all to 153 apartments ranged over five and seven floors, in two distinct blocks. To match the heavy duty demand of this environment, the nine 8-person lifts are fitted with higher-grade stainless steel lift cars and Dewhurst push-button controls. Eight are traction, without motor rooms, and one is hydraulic, with a motor room. All the lifts have been installed with a range of options, with a mix of vandal-resistant categories 1 and 2. Manchester New Square is a highly innovative urban project in Manchester City Centre. What makes Manchester New Square particularly interesting is that it has been constructed using off-site manufacturing and that is why NorDan were the perfect supplier for this development. As we own all of our factories, we have complete control over production schedules and we can cope with the tight, demanding schedules that off-site manufacturing requires. Our product also comes as a full set, complete with ironmongery and glass, so that they can be fitted straight into the concrete panels and moved onto site.

record uk installed a 3 wing all-glass revolving door with a stainless steel frame to provide an attractive and impressive entrance to Horizons House in Aberdeen, a development of prestigious serviced office suites built by Waterloo Quay properties. The revolving door complemented the modern and attractive interior and prevented through draft which otherwise may have posed a problem with the entrance opening directly into the reception area. This revolving door was fitted with a fully automatic in-ground electric mechanism and microprocessor control unit. Safety features are also built in and activated by infrared detectors and overload detection.

More than 5,000 m² in porcelain stoneware for Germany’s largest leisure pool – Villeroy & Boch tiles in the Stegermatt Swimming Pool in OffenburgSport, wellness and leisure spanning more than 10,000 m² – the largest leisure pool in Germany, Stegermatt Swimming Pool in Offenburg, opened in late July 2017. Along with an outdoor area with 50-metre swimming pool, wave slide and adventure pool, indoor visitors can look forward to a fitness courses pool, a teaching pool, a diving pool with two diving platforms and a 25-metre competition pool. The sauna landscape comprises a variety of saunas, a steam bath and a cold-water area with adventure showers and a plunge pool. The developers for the project were the City and Technical Operations of Offenburg. 4a Architekten of Stuttgart were the architects in charge of planning for the project. The tiling work, with a volume of EUR 2.5 million, was performed by the Freiburg subsidiary of Fliesen Röhlich GmbH; with a staff of around 300 professional layers of tile and natural stone, the company is considered the largest tile specialist in Germany. For an entire year, this major project in Offenburg had 15 employees working constantly, increasing to 25 in peak periods. As a result, in spite of at times difficult weather conditions, the work was completed on time.  With the exception of the swimming pools themselves, the entire bathing level, including the changing rooms in the interior of the facility, was designed in the X-PLANE range of vilbostone porcelain stoneware by Villeroy & Boch Tiles. The range features a trendy concrete look with fine colour gradations. Spanning an area of 5,000 m², cream-coloured tiles in the two modular formats of 30 x 60 cm and 15 x 60 cm were laid in a brickwork-effect pattern, creating a space with a harmonious and at the same time vibrant look. Another approx. 600 m² of matching mosaic tiles were also used. With the special 5 x 5 cm format and a slip-resistance class of R10 they are suitable for use in shower areas.

The ChallengeFounded in 1432, Sevenoaks boarding school is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country with some of the buildings dating from the 17th Century. The client requested an easy-to-use, energy-efficient underfloor heating solution in rooms of different uses across the school that would have a negligible impact on floor heights. The installation of the system would also have to be considerate of the historic nature of the building.The SolutionDue to the need for a low floor build-up and with a project featuring a mix of floor finishes, our Foil Heater was the ideal choice for an easy-to-use and quick to install underfloor heating system. The Foil Heater is perfect for use with the school’s carpeted and wooden floor finishes and was installed in conjunction the Dual Overlay System when fitted with the carpeted flooring for a stable subfloor solution that can handle heavier load areas. Warmup’s StickyMat System was installed throughout the school’s bathrooms, which can be fitted directly within the layer of tile adhesive or levelling compound, therefore having little-to-no effect on floor heights. Our Tempo Thermostat was installed for accurate floor heat control alongside overall control by a Building Management System.The ResultThe beautiful and historic Sevenoaks Boarding School has now been given a 21st Century update with a responsive Warmup heating solution that didn’t substantially raise floor heights. The staff and pupils can now enjoy radiant warmth throughout the year, leading to better comfort levels and therefore a happier space in which to study and work.

Churchill Square, a bustling shopping hub in Brighton, underwent a significant transformation in 2022, closing its main customer toilet area for a multi-million pound renovation. The refurbishment included not only updating the main toilet facilities but also adding accessible WCs, mother & baby areas, a prayer room, and a Changing Places toilet. Graham Construction, the main contractor, enlisted our assistance for the Changing Places toilet installation. Addressing layout challenges during the initial site visit, we collaborated with the Graham design team to ensure compliance. Our detailed drawings and management through the Trimble Construction One™ portal streamlined the construction process. The installation featured a GoLift ceiling hoist, a thermostatic shower, a Premium 200 shower bench, a height-adjustable basin, and a wall-mounted privacy screen. We provided training for key staff, facilitated the Changing Places registration, and achieved a fantastic finish on this noteworthy project.
