Funded by the Sustrans ‘Places for Everyone‘ initiative, it forms part of Glasgow City Council’s Avenues Project.The project identified twenty locations around the city, with predicted high demand – near offices, shopping areas and social destinations. Creating highly adaptable working space, Style has installed four Dorma moveable wall systems to the Berkshire offices of a world leading multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company. The semi-automatic partitions can be used to quickly divide a laboratory learning facility as well as office space, creating smaller areas or opening up the area as required. For this high-spec project, Style worked with architects, Perkins and Will, and contractor, Tetris Bluu. Finished in a blue fabric combined with magnetic white boards, the semi-automatic operation walls are both functional and practical.

Reckitt’s unrivalled range provides health, hygiene and nutrition for people in 200 countries around the world, and at its offices in Slough, Berkshire Style worked with architects, Tetris Design & Build and contractor, BW Interiors, to create flexible space throughout the building.What made this installation particularly notable for Style was that it was the company’s 300th installation of a Skyfold – the market leading, fully automatic, vertically rising, acoustic moveable wall.Installing Skyfolds in both the main boardroom/meeting room and also in the lounge and shop/display area, the moveable walls offer incredible 59dB acoustic ratings and are housed, out of sight, in a ceiling cavity when not in use.“When we introduced Skyfold into the UK market 15 years ago, it was a completely new, ground-breaking moveable wall solution,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director.“At the push of a button it descends gracefully from a ceiling cavity, and once in place it offers superb room separation with top end acoustic integrity.“Initially it took time to raise the profile of Skyfold with architects, contractors and potential end-user clients, however once the benefits of this operable wall became recognised the numbers of specifications grew rapidly, as it is a truly outstanding form of room separation.”At Reckitt, the Skyfolds enable staff to very quickly divide the rooms, and when not in use they take up no floor space whatsoever and are completely out of sight.Finished in a stylish Kvadrat Steelcut Trio fabric, they also complement the interior design of the building creating a real showcase for anyone visiting the offices.In addition to the Skyfolds, Style was also specified to install a Dorma Huppe Variflex semi-automatic moveable wall in a ground floor studio, also with a 59dB acoustic rating and in an Egger laminate finish.Style is the UK market leader in moveable, partitioning and folding walls and the exclusive UK partner to Skyfold, Dorma Huppe and SWG.

A 150yr old stone built cottage had developed structural faults. The archway entrance was failing due to inadequate support causing distortion of the arch pier, the front door to jam and masonry cracking in the archway walls. HD BowTies were installed through the front elevation stonework and the first two floor joists to provide lateral restraint. HeliBars were bonded into the mortar beds to create masonry beams which assisted in distributing the loads above the arch. Crack stitching was undertaken to repair and stabilise the archway wall which was also secured to the internal cross wall with grouted CemTies.

Challenging brief The CLD team worked closely from the initial design stage to ensure they met budgets and a challenging brief: to create a fencing design that was attractive and fun whilst providing optimal safety for the school and its 200 pupils. CLD supplied the Dulok Wavetop system for discreet but robust security, the Dulok Rebound system for high performance sports fencing and locking gates with a Slidemaster main gate. A unique multi-coloured ‘pencil’ fence was also added marking out the play area with large pencil-shaped posts with wooden tops that can be re-painted by the children in any colour.

The G8 Summit in Enniskillen of the world’s most powerful politicians involved 4,700 Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers and 3,600 from other UK forces in a security operation that cost about £60m.The PSNI wanted the securest G8 ever at a time of ‘severe terrorist threat’ and hoped that its reputation for dealing with public disorder plus unprecedented physical, cyber, technical and logistical protection would keep many potential protesters away.The SolutionPSNI approached Zaun to design, manufacture, project manage and install an ‘impregnable cordon’ around the world leaders to guarantee their security throughout the summit at Lough Erne.The rectangular site was protected on its long northeastern boundary by the Lough Erne lake. After extensive testing, Zaun designed its single largest ever temporary installation using two of its premier high-security fencing systems for the other three sides.It installed its 3.6m high SecureGuard PAS68 temporary security fencing along the 5.7km road to the southwest of the site, which runs broadly parallel with the lough. In addition, Zaun integrated rising arm barriers and 10 PAS68 gates for secure access control along the fence line.It also put in 1.7km of its award-winning Rapid Deployable System (RDS) at each end, creating a secure perimeter from the road to the edge of and into the lake.RDSZaun had to make several adaptations to its multi-award-winning RDS that was first used for four political conferences on the mainland in 2012 and bought by The Home Office to add to the National Barrier Asset.In addition to the cable system on the front of the fence line gives the system it's PAS68 rating of 30mph (PAS 68:2010 V/7500(N2)/48/90:11.6/0.0), Zaun incorporated further enhancements to prevent mob attack on the run-up to the summit. Both RDS and SecureGuard were extensively tested by PSNI and the Home Office against mob attacks. These tests will now form the basis of a new standard adopted by the Home Office when testing systems.Zaun also created specially designed posts to carry additional one-tonne weights to prevent movement on the 30-metre section of RDS fencing that actually tracked into the lake itself to discourage protesters from breaching the perimeter via the water.RDS was used on remoter areas around the edge of forest land, dirt tracks and grassy knolls with undulating ground, and boggy land at the airport to provide Airforce One and other presidential jet landings.

Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo was established in 1988 in Wales when the old dairy farm grounds were converted into an adventure park and zoo. So when they were preparing for the arrival of a pride of African Lions, one of the top priorities was to design and manufacture their enclosure fencing. The main requirements for this project were to protect the welfare of the lions whilst holding security features for visitors and staff when observing. The lion enclosure consisted of CLD Fencing Systems Dulok Double Wire Fencing using a dark green RAL colour for coating. The whole enclosure featured 2 paddocks, 4 dens and 5 yards to offer the very best comfort for the African Lions.

Stagecoach West operates and maintains 65 buses serving over 5.5 million passengers annually within the Swindon area alone.So back in 2016; Stagecoach West relocated to a brand new £3.2million development, in order to expand their services and base depot. In 2016, Reading Borough Council and the British Cycling invested over £350,000, in a joint funded scheme, into the Palmer Park Sports Stadium.This investment was set to fund the renovations to the Velodrome track fencing, lighting and other improvements to the cycle track in order to improve visitor experiences.After the restoration, Palmer Park’s velodrome track was officially reopened to the public on March 11th 2017 by the Mayor of Reading, Mohammed Ayub and representatives from the British Cycling.The BriefThe brief for this project was set out by the specific requirements both clients wanted for the Safety Velodrome Fencing.Increase the safety and security of the perimeter fencing around the track.Must be specified by the British Cycling adhering to appropriate standards.

BAE Systems recommended Jacksons Fencing, one of the UK’s leading designers, manufacturers and installers of security fencing and access control systems, for high security solutions at Portsmouth Naval Base, England. Princess Royal Jetty is the berth for HMS Queen Elizabeth, the the largest ever surface warship built for the Royal Navy. Jacksons successfully completed the works in time for the vessel to set sail from her new home for the first time in October 2017.

Jacksons Fencing was contacted by Border Force, the law enforcement command within the Home Office responsible for securing the UK border, with a brief to tender for the design, manufacture and installation of security fencing and a series of matching gates. Initially Jacksons was awarded 3.3km of the 5.0km contract, however as of October 2016, the company had worked across 4 key locations spread throughout the perimeter and interior of the site and installed a total of 11.5km of fencing and 63 gates.

The Britannia Leisure Centre, located in Hackney, North London, is a community-focused project spearheaded by Morgan Sindall.This visionary initiative presented an array of complex construction challenges, including the creation of two full-sized five-a-side football pitches and two full-sized tennis courts on the roof, requiring fencing and netting reaching a height of eight metres.The completion of the Britannia Rooftop MUGA project marks a significant milestone for CLD Systems and Perimeter Solutions. Style first installed DORMA moveable walls at global law firm, Mayer Brown, back in 2007, soon after announcing its exclusive UK partnership with DORMA. dormakaba was awarded the contract to provide an integrated IT solution for the first college that was built on the new Heslington East site- Goodricke College, named after the British astronomer John Goodricke, offering accommodation and other facilities for students. dormakaba installed a fully integrated solution at the college, comprising dormakaba Exos system, CardLink standalone components, C-Levers and pExtra high securitymechanical cylinders. Geoff Brown, Security Manager at University of York commented: “dormakaba's Exos system is the software that allows us to centrally manage the system. The University of York has 9 colleges and in each college we have residential students. Residential students have a dormakaba card that allows them access to the main building and also we allow access to communal areas, including the cycle shed.” Installing fully integrated system enabled the university to have a cost effective and flexible access control on any door, barrier, lift or access point coupled with a reliable and accurate time recording solution for staff, students and contractors. Mark Barber added: “One of the big plus points of it, is that we are able to feed Exos on a nightly basis with records from our people data base which contains all our current staff and students- so we always have up-to-date list of university members in the Exos data base. One of the by-products of that, is that we can also feed through into Exos expiry dates of when staff or students are about to leave so without any other interventions, by setting certain parameter within the interface, people’s access right can be revoke automatically and universally in the dormakaba system”. Further developments under one unified dormakaba Exos system, included control of doors at the Physics and Electronics building that has been added onto the existing campus. A further online Exos doors, C- Levers and pExtra cylinders were installed at various new department buildings throughout Heslington East, including Theatre, Film and TV (TFTV), Law and Management (L&M), Computer Science Building (CSB) and the Communal Area(HUB). Working with architects, CMI Workplace and main contractor, Overbury, Style was specified to install a fully automatic Dorma Moveo Glazed ComfortDrive moveable wall adjacent to a Skyfold, the fully automatic, vertically rising operable wall, housed in the ceiling cavity. At the push of a button, the walls open and close with ease, offering a phenomenal lab tested 50dB Rw acoustic integrity for the glass system, and 51dB Rw for the Skyfold.

Working directly with St. Jude’s Academy in Wolverhampton, leading operable wall specialist Style installed a moveable wall to separate a dual-purpose classroom. Dramatically improving the use of space, the sliding partitioning system allows teachers the flexibility to quickly reconfigure the classroom from a single large teaching/activity space into two smaller classrooms that can operate side-by-side. Following the installation, Style was also appointed as the servicing and repair agent for this and five other moveable walls within the school. Routine servicing will protect the school’s investment by ensuring smooth and safe operation of each wall.

Recognising this, Rushton Hall, a magnificent Grade I listed country house hotel in the Midlands, contracted Style to add flexibility to the newly refurbished Library and main function rooms, allowing privacy when required but also ensuring the area could be opened out for larger gatherings. DORMA Variflex was agreed as the most suitable moveable wall for this historic building and Style installed two separate partitions to give maximum flexibility across three rooms, all in a stunning finish to complement the elegant interior design.

Designed throughout for adaptability, space at the new Emily Wilding Davison building, Royal Holloway University, benefits from the installation of numerous moveable wall systems. Partitioning experts Style, worked closely with contractor, Geoffrey Osbourne, and Associated Architects to assist and advise on the design, bringing practical, aesthetic and cost-saving benefits to the project. A former brownfield industrial site alongside the River Roding in Essex is converted into attractive mixed-use community housing. The Met Police custody and patrol base for the borough, industrial businesses, restaurants, river moorings and 1000 homes.The developer wanted to replace old and damaged wooden hoardings around a section of the Fresh Wharf Estate perimeter in Barking and prevent damage to a bus shelter from stone chips thrown up by passing vehicles on the adjacent A406.The SolutionFresh Water Developments approached Zaun to devise a bespoke solution for the site on the banks of the Roding, a Thames tributary. They wanted a sustainable perimeter, deflected flying stone chips, minimised noise and met their aesthetic, design and functional needs.Zaun has integrated a new highly resistant laminate made entirely from mixed waste plastics with its market-leading Duo fencing to produce a system that won’t rust or rot. In addition, it is low maintenance and reusable or recyclable if damaged.The innovative product design named DBS Security boasts great acoustic-loss properties, rated B3 and 36dB loss, and gives protection against damage from flying objects flicked up by passing vehicles.DBS Security protects a bus shelter close to the North Circular that constantly has to undergo repair. A large section of the perimeter to the industrial site and housing is fitted with Zaun’s twin-wire Duo fencing system. Two horizontal wires resist being welded on either side of the vertical wire.Zaun combined both standard and bespoke fencing to tailor the overall solution to the site’s specific requirements.

Creating a fluid environment to encourage collaborative working, partitioning experts Style, designed and delivered a unique and highly innovative ‘working wall’ solution for Adobe’s new offices in the landmark White Collar Factory building, Shoreditch. The cluster of individual sliding and pivoting wall panels can be used to create numerous sized spaces for impromptu meetings and brainstorming sessions. They can also be pulled together to form a wider temporary wall. Delivering further flexibility, Style installed a fully automatic, Skyfold vertical-rising partition capable of delivering 55dB acoustic privacy, as well as a semi-automatic DORMA Moveo double-glazed operable wall.

This North London family home has undergone a total transformation by our client Sara-Int Renovations Ltd. Two existing extensions have been demolished, the front entrance has been repositioned and the lower ground floor entirely rebuilt. The terrace off the living room was also reconstructed and now benefits from a spiral staircase which connects to the garden. The newly designed house showcases various styles of bespoke Clement steel window door screens and partitions, all with genuine T bars. Located in the prestigious No.1 St Peters Square development, the offices of international business law firm, Addleshaw Goddard, benefit from the addition of three hi-tech moveable partitioning walls installed by Style. Two semi-automatic DORMA moveable walls combine with a fully automatic Skyfold to create two rooms (one large and one small), three smaller rooms or a complete open-plan space, depending on the client briefings, conferences and partners meetings that are planned for any particular day. As part of the extension to the Tate Modern there was a requirement for doorsets with unusual characteristics. The RC4 security rated doors were quite large at 3m x 3m which, combined with the need to clad the doors in the same material as the building, created potential certification issues.Teckentrup was part of the team for the project and worked with the test houses through the design process to achieve a solution for the building.

Like many districts, Bankside experienced a significant rise in people arriving to work by bicycle.Cyclists are known to increase the vibrancy of a place, yet the risk of bicycle theft around the UK had risen to an all-time high.Having long advocated the benefits of cycling, Better Bankside saw an increased need to provide further safe and accessible parking for their business members. Their solution? Transform a vacant railway arch into a secure cycle parking space, with CCTV, smartphone access and eye-catching ‘Better Bankside pink’ cycle racks.Cyclehoop provided the six custom powder coated toast racks, creating 60 new spaces for people to park their cycles in Bankside. The custom colour stands out against the character of the brick to create an attractive and recognisable space.The facility immediately proved popular, within two weeks of the launch more than 80 users signed up for access.Cyclehoop is delighted to have helped Banksiders reduce the risk of cycle theft and keep their bikes safe and dry.
