Addagrip Terraco were delighted to see our BBA approved Terrabound Resin Bound porous surfacing installed at Constitution Hill as part of the new East-West Cycle Superhighway. The project will run through central London from Tower Hill to Lancaster Gate. The installation of this new stretch of the cycle path runs alongside Green Park to provide a safe route for cyclists from Buckingham Palace to Wellington Arch.BBA approved Terrabound Resin Bound surfacing was selected to provide over 2,200m2 of smooth, seamless, porous paving that would be hard wearing and provide good slip resistance for the cyclists. The natural aggregate finish in a 6mm Rhine Gold complements the location alongside Green Park and will provide a low maintenance surface in this very busy location.Working for Transport for London, F M Conway carried out the installation over a 9-day period working in one of the busiest tourist areas in Central London and during a period of very hot weather. The team started at Wellington Arch/Commonwealth Memorial end of Constitution Hill and finished the last 185m stretch outside Buckingham palace on Friday 8th July. Whilst the crowds gathered to watch the Household Cavalry ride up Constitution Hill from Wellington Arch, St James’s, London to Buckingham Palace there was also much public interest in seeing the team’s coordinated system of installing the resin bound surface and watching the transformation as it happened.The work was completed alongside the existing path that runs along Green Park so a metal edging detail was used, separating the Resin Bound surface from the hoggin surface around the mature trees that line the roadside.

One large benefit is that SureSet can guarantee no loose stones because it's a resin bound system that completely infuses the raw material whilst leaving voids for permeability, which also influenced its specification.A walkway blend was designed by our Technical Team to deem the installed materials suitable for heavy footfall and potential vehicular traffic.

National Flooring Co Ltd, one of our Approved Contractors was approached by Moy Construction Co Ltd who were awarded a contract to refurbish the swimming pool and changing areas at Perseid School in Surrey. The school offers an educational provision for children with learning difficulties and/or physical/sensory difficulties, and therefore, safety was paramount. As part of the refurbishment a hardwearing, slip-resistant flooring system that offered excellent longevity was essential. The floor had been previously tiled, but due to water ingress, kept failing and required frequent repair. Rising maintenance costs and risk of slips prompted the school to look for alternative solutions and resin became an obvious choice. A Degafloor resin floor provides a seamless, hardwearing, and impermeable finish that will offer years of service. Moy Construction Co Ltd removed the existing floor tiles and installed a new screed prior to the installation of the resin system. From the offset, achieving a floor finish with a suitable slip rating was non-negotiable.The Degafloor QTA system is a quartz trowelled system which can be laid to falls. The system, which is broadcast with a quartz aggregate, provides excellent slip resistance, even in wet conditions, ensuring high levels of safety are always maintained. The project, which included the swimming pool surround and adjoining changing rooms, totalled 145 sqm of floor and 135 lm of cove. The installation was completed over 5 days and to the satisfaction of Moy Construction Co Ltd, who were happy to have the project completed to a high standard, on time and within budget.
ADDASET RESIN BOUND PAVING FOR BULL YARD COVENTRY REDEVELOPMENT SCHEME

Addagrip Addaset BBA resin bound surfacing has recently been installed in this street scheme as part of the redevelopment of the Bull Yard area in Coventry City Centre.The £2million redevelopment of the site, close to the Wave, included the requirement for a seamless paving solution that would be hard wearing and offer a safe, slip resistant, low maintenance porous surface for this busy retail area.The existing surfacing consisted of old asphalt and paved areas. Addagrip Terraco approved contractor Total Protection transformed the area with 1,770m2 of BBA approved Addaset resin bound porous surfacing in a Hazelnut blend to create seamless pedestrian areas alongside the water feature and children’s play area.The finished project enhances what is seen as a key arrival point into the city from Coventry railway station.Work commenced early 2020 but the planned April finish date was set back due to Covid-19 and was eventually completed in August 2020.

Addagrip approved contractor, Resin & Rock were delighted to be appointed to install tree pit resin bound surfacing around the base of a number of the London Plane trees on the newly redeveloped Exhibition Road in the Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensington.A 6mm Lucerne Silver was used to replace the existing self-binding gravel finish to fulfil the clients’ requirements for a porous, hard wearing and aesthetically pleasing surface capable of tolerating the high pedestrian flows in this busy street. A super-flex collar was included in the installations to allow for tree growth and to ensure that there was no loose aggregate.The low maintenance paving provides a seamless surface with excellent slip resistance and can be easily kept clean.The installation was completed in November 2014

In late 2018 Westminster City Council commissioned WSP & Reardonsmith Landscape Architects to develop the design proposals for the Public Realm Improvements on Christchurch Gardens, a green space in the heart of Westminster, London.Works on the £3.3Million scheme commenced in October 2019 with extensive remodelling of the park to provide open and inviting footpaths into the gardens, new lawns, extensive planting and seating to offer a flexible open space that reflects the site’s historical background.Working with main contractor F M Conway, Addagrip approved contractor Street Tree was responsible for sourcing and planting large specimen trees, provision of 750 tonnes of soils and the installation of the 475m of Terrabase Rustic Resin Bound permeable paving that runs throughout the site.Due to the existing location of large London Plane trees along the perimeter of the garden and a desire to avoid compromising the trees, porous Terrabase Rustic in a 6-10mm Oak blend was installed onto a porous asphalt with Cellweb base. This provided a solution to allow site traffic access to these routes throughout the construction phase.The new resin bound surface provides decorative natural aggregate porous pathways with a rustic feel in keeping with this inviting green space in the heart of the city.The installation was completed in September 2020.

The National Flooring Company, a Degafloor Ltd approved installer, have received another complimentary review following a kitchen refurbishment on the 23rd floor at a popular 4-star hotel in Manchester. Making the most of the quieter, New Year period, the hotel decided to upgrade their kitchen floor. Having worked at other locations for the popular hotel chain, The National Flooring Company were contacted to provide advice and following a successful proposal, were asked to complete the refurbishment. The kitchen, which is situated on the 23rd floor, required meticulous planning to ensure that works could be completed with minimal disruption to the hotel’s guests. The existing vinyl floor within the kitchen had become worn and brittle and sections were beginning to lift, causing a potential trip hazard. The vinyl floor was removed to expose the tiled finish underneath. Any loose tiles that had debonded from the floor were also removed and infilled with Degafloor Deep Fill, quick curing repair mortar.The National Flooring Company laid a scrape coat, embedded with a promesh reinforcing membrane, prior to the installation of the Degafloor Full Broadcast System (FB). The Degafloor FB system is broadcast with rounded aggregate to provide an anti-slip finish and retains this feature even in wet conditions to ensure employee safety is always maintained. As with all Degafloor systems, they are seamless and impervious, ensuring the floor will not lift, as previously experienced with the existing vinyl floor finish. Degafloor MMA resin flooring systems are fully cured within 2 hours of installation, allowing the hotel to resume normal kitchen operating procedures shortly after completion. MMA resins have a distinctive odour, but with the correct management, installations can progress with very little disruption. The National Flooring Company used the kitchen extraction system and sealed all doorways to contain and manage the odour.The project was completed to the satisfaction of the Chief Engineer, Hilton MCR, who commented on how good the floor looked. “The restaurant being on the 23rd floor presented a logistical challenge. However, after careful planning and consideration of our hotel operations, The National Flooring Company completed the installation efficiently and to a high standard. We were impressed with the service from start to finish.”

Stratum helped create a healthy and fresh environment in the specialist research laboratories based at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital. The space would be heavily used and the nature of the work in the labs required the floor to be hygienic, seamless, easy to clean and with high resistance to chemicals. The design of the building allows the public to see through the windows into the laboratories from street level, meaning aesthetics were equally as important in product selection as functional properties. Stratum installed 800m2 of Pure Design – Bolidtop 525 with integrated skirting throughout. Solution- Joint free makes for a very hygienic solution, with integrated joint free skirting adding to this.- Close co-ordination with the contractor, enabled the structure to be sufficiently progressed early in the programme. This allowed the resin to be installed early and fully protected in ample time for the lab benches to be installed over.- Electrical Floor Bokes, seamless skirting.Result- The resin flooring installed here is an excellent addition to this multi-award winning building. “The Bolidt resin provides the perfect seamless floor finish in the main laboratory spaces within the Zayed Centre for Research. Degafloor Marine Coating System for Scottish fishing boatDegafloor’s Full Broadcast Marine Coating System was the ideal, hardwearing and long-lasting solution for the boat decking on Ocean Endeavour.Salt water and continuous drag of steel chains from the trawler nets quickly eroded the marine paint that was installed on the top deck of Ocean Endeavour.Once the marine paint was eroded, the slip-resistance was destroyed, making the top deck slippery and exposed to rust. Similar issues were occurring on lower decks where the paint quickly de-bonded causing rust and slip hazards.An annual repaint of the decks would have resulted in unproductive time in dock, continual erosion of the decks and health and safety issues. As a result, a more permanent solution was required.Degafloor, in partnership with PBP Services, developed the Full Broadcast Marine Coating System, an MMA resin-based solution specifically for the marine industry. This marine coating system chemically bonds to the steel decks to create a monolithic finish which will not delaminate or de-bond.Using Degafloor, the resin installation on all decks was completed in just 3 shifts of 12 hours, giving a very fast turnaround for Ocean Endeavour to be in use.A small area was left treated with just the marine paint in the bulkhead. Within one year the marine paint had failed and rust was becoming a serious issue again. In contrast, the Degafloor Full Broadcast Marine System was in perfect condition, with no delamination, excellent slip-resistance with no rusting.Installation of the Degafloor FB Marine System can be completed as part of a refurbishment, but with its hardwearing properties, is an ideal product to utilise as part of the construction process of any ship or trawler.

One of Cardiff city centre’s recent regeneration schemes, Capitol Quarter, required a multi storey car park to provide parking for the new office buildings within the development. To ensure the car park was protected and finished with the highest quality materials, the main contractor sought advice from Degafloor Ltd to ensure a suitable cost effective, high performance waterproofing system for the top deck, ramp and an inter deck area over occupied premises was specified. Following a full site visit and having assessed the client’s requirements in full, Degafloor specified the CP TD system with fleeced banding to substrate cracks and all upstands for the top deck, the CP HD system for the ramp and a fully fleeced CP TD for the area over occupied premises. Slip-resistant steps for Villa ParkDegafloor were thrilled to be involved in the redevelopment of Aston Villa’s famous Villa Park football stadium. Slip-resistant steps were required for the Holte End of the stadium in addition to new facilities, including a new bar and suite complex.As part of the project, slip-resistant steps were required. The entire 600m² staircases were treated with Degafloor concrete crack seal, followed by a flexible waterproof membrane to deliver a impervious solution to protect the new bar and suite complex. The staircases were then finished with a bespoke Degafloor Quartz Trowelled with Aggregate System, finished in a unique Terracotta Quartz.To comply with current DDA legislation (Disability Discrimination Act) the stairs were finished with a separately formed nosing in White.Due to the tight project timescale and to overcome traditional British weather constraints, Flo-Dek (UK) Ltd recommended a range of fast curing Degafloor resin systems. As well as being fast curing, all Degafloor systems exhibit excellent UV resistance – essential for external environments – whilst the QTA system applied to the treads offers unrivalled slip resistance to ensure spectator safety, whatever the weather conditions.Speaking on behalf of Flo-Dek (UK) Ltd, Sales Director Dave Cope said, “This was a very complex and demanding project. The colours had to match perfectly and the hand formed nosings required a high level of skill and attention to detail”.

A Degafloor Approved Installer - The National Flooring Company Ltd were approached by a A 4-star hotel, in the South of England, who had decided to update their flooring system around the swimming pool. The existing floor tiles, which had started to debond posed a trip hazard and therefore needed to be replaced. The client also advised they were experiencing problems with standing water.Following the removal of the existing floor tiles, the installation of a new screed was required to build back the levels and ensure there were adequate falls in the floor for water to run back into the pool. Throughout the installation, the gym remained open, and it had been advised that the pool closure needed to be kept to an absolute minimum. The National Flooring Company installed the Degafloor Deep Fill Mortar Repair system, a fast-curing underlayment, which ensured the refurbishment programme could continue with no downtime due to curing.The existing drain was removed and replaced, along with the light box and leveller covers, which all received new stainless-steel units. A new trim was fixed around the perimeter of the pool and the Degafloor resin system, which has an excellent bond to metal surfaces, was abutted up to all the stainless-steel items. The Degafloor QTA system used within the project, is a quartz trowelled system that can be laid to falls. The system is broadcast with aggregate to provide an extremely slip resistant finish, even under wet conditions, making it ideally suited to a swimming pool surround. Coved skirting was installed around the perimeter of the room creating a completely impervious finish, with no weak spots and therefore reducing future maintenance costs. The full refurbishment was completed over 12 days, ensuring that the closure was kept to a bare minimum.The clients main requirements were they required an anti-slip floor that would eliminate the current situation they had with standing water. They specifically requested that the closure was kept to a minimum as they are a "member's club" as well as facilitating the hotel, which remained open throughout the installation. The client was extremely satisfied with the end result and felt they now have a floor finish that is much better suited to their environment.

Pure Design – Bolidtop 525Colour – S 7500-N with textureless anti-slip1300m²Installation dates - July 2021 (10 days) Museums and performing arts venues are subject to intensive use by millions of shuffling feet, day in day out as well as heavy loads from equipment and installations. Stratum were chosen to prepare and resurface 1300m2 of the existing floor to the iconic main space of the Roundhouse, in Camden, which had endured 15 years of heavy use. The building is a heritage site, originally built as a steam engine shed, therefore our flooring needed to meet the functional requirements for the users but also sensitively fit in with the history of the space and its aesthetics. The surface needed to be hardwearing allowing for large scale builds for various productions, involving plant use, installation of temporary structures, staging etc. We sanded back the entire floor, repaired the damage and installed Bolidtop 525 over the top with textureless anti-slip coating. Challenge- Working within an extremely busy venue with a tight time scale and no room for error.- Being a heritage site we would need to be mindful of the original structure of the building- Large footprint spanning across the main space of the venue.- No dust creation allowed due to sensitive electrical equipment. Solution- We agreed a slot and timescale to carry out all of the works in 10 days. We programmed out the works for the customer and provided them with daily updates.- We used the highest grade dust extraction equipment. We ensured that labour and materials were all available in a timely manner.Benefits/Installation- The customer was able to select the same smooth, matt appearance they had before but with a different colour choice and the addition of our new tried and tested textureless anti-slip coating.Result- After 15 years of heavy use this magnificent heritage site has a seamless, durable and safe floor reinstated to provide the functional qualities required for many years of intense footfall and wear the performing arts industry creates.
