Castle Park View is the tallest residential building to have been built in the city of Bristol to date. At 26 storeys high, the residential tower block forms part of the wider Castle Park View scheme, which is also the largest Urban Green Space in the city.The development also features a main block and a 10-storey tower, creating in total 375 new one and two bedroom apartments. Senior’s slimline SF52 aluminium curtain wall system and patented low U-value PURe® aluminium windows and doors have been used across the scheme and were fabricated and installed by Denval, for architects Chapman Taylor and contractors Bouygues UK.Created following the extensive regeneration of a brownfield area and built on the former site of an ambulance station, sustainability is a key part of the design of the Castle Park View and the residential scheme has achieved a level four standard in the Code for Sustainable Homes certification.Both Senior’s thermally-efficient SF52 aluminium curtain wall system and Part L compliant PURe® aluminium windows and doors are highly durable and fully recyclable, making them the ideal choice for a modern development that is also striving to help reduce the energy bills of its residents. The thermal performance of the aluminium fenestration system complements the other sustainable features including the use of the UK’s largest water source heat pump, the nearby Castle Park Energy Centre, as the development’s main heat source.

The client, East Lindsay District Council, planned to build a brand new £7m state of the art Public Sector Hub facility in Horncastle, Lincolnshire to provide office space for the District Council, Boston College, along with Lincolnshire Police and local medical organisations. A sustainable approach was needed towards the construction of the large 220 space car park required to serve the new building to avoid surface run off and flood risk to the surrounding area.  Using Tarmac's ULTIPOROUS meant planning conditions and would keep the car park free from standing water, even after heavy rainfall. It also avoided the need for additional costly drainage systems and was far less labour intensive than alternatives like block paving, which helped saved time and cost for the client. The smooth, even finish also met the client’s requirement for a safe, low maintenance, all weather surface.

Considered Istanbul’s most upscale mall, İstinye Park plays several different roles, requiring a broad array of washroom needs fulfilled by hygienic Bobrick accessories.

Elephant Park is part of a £2.3 billion regeneration project in Elephant & Castle. It comprises a mixed-use development of 3000 new homes and up to 50 shops /retail units all centred around a new 2-acre park. Bolton Gate assisted the Architect with the design of a large electric Multi-Fold Gate to the Service Bay which consists of twelve equal leaves each constructed from an SHS frame with 50 x 10mm vertical steel fins and internal mesh to prevent the ingress of birds. Matching cladding and balustrades completed the elevation all of which were powder coated black.

Park House Stables, Kingsclere, is home to some of Britain’s most famous racehorses. Boasting a rich history for training the best in the sport, the stables are also home to licensed trainer, Andrew Balding and his family.Situated in Newbury, Berkshire, the stables recently replaced an existing gravel track with a 500-meter-long, four-meter-wide, structurally-sound concrete access road.Sika was called upon for this project, working alongside Kendalls Newbury (part of Aggregate Industries) to provide a suitable solution for contractor, L J Morrissey Contracts Ltd.

THE PROJECTThe Waterside Park project features multiple banks of a fire rated mailboxes that comply with the BS 476 Part 22 offering a one hour integrity rating that will ‘contain and form a break to a fire’.The bank of mailboxes are recessed into a wall and integrated with a finishing surround frame providing a high quality edging to the products, hiding any gaps between brick and mailbox and ensuring a high quality finish.The mailboxes feature an inward sprung flap, which is a standard feature across the fire rated mailbox range. An intumescent strip is placed on the internal side of the mail flap, which expands when the temperature increases and ensures that the flap is kept closed – stopping the oxygen flow into the mailbox and reducing the risk of fire spreading through the mailbox.Each mailbox used in this project has been fitted with a unique identification numbering vinyl with a black colouring to easily show the users (both residents and postal operatives) where each mailbox is situated.

Wexham Park Hospital, an acute NHS hospital situated near Slough in Berkshire is protected by a network of 20 MxPro 5 fire panels.The 588-bed hospital is one of three managed by Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust, one of the top performing NHS trusts in the United Kingdom. As well as the main hospital building, the site has a large post graduate building, ambulance station, staff accommodation and a new £49 million, state-of-the-art, four-story Emergency Assessment Center. Responsible for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the system was Advanced’s partner, Static Systems Group.In addition to the MxPro 5 panels, the system also comprises 18 MxPro 5 repeater panels and 2,000 Apollo field devices which are installed in a number of hospital buildings and departments including Intensive Care, Sterile Services, Radiology and its new 9,300 sq. meters Emergency Assessment Center.

Located within the historic market town of Alnwick, Willowburn Retail Park is a new shopping destination with easy access from the A1, boasting 37,405 sq.ft. of retail floorspace, plus 200 parking spaces.The distinctive modern design by Projekt Architects uses a bold mixture of sustainable materials including energy-efficient glazing plus sustainable timber Accoya for the cladding, soffit and eaves. Senior Architectural Systems provided the entire glazing package including thermally-efficient SF52 curtain walling for the full-height glazed frontages and robust SPW501 doors, Certified to PAS24 and Secured by Design standards, to provide secure access throughout the development.

Enfield Town Park is a 9.5-hectare green open space in the heart of the Enfield Town, north London. Following a series of consultations with the public and park user groups, works were undertaken in to restore the lake, reinstate public access to it, repair the leaks, and add wildlife friendly features to the area. Furnitubes supplied two types of products to the scheme – concrete Blyth cube seating blocks and Parallel table and bench sets.

Bunn Leisure Holiday Park has revamped its facilities at Chichester resort. Part of the works included the supply of new leisure lockers and the refurbishment of the existing lockers for both the wet and dry areas of the swimming pool complex. We designed, supplied and installed the new units as well as completely overhauling the existing lockers. Lockers are all three compartments in standard 1800mm x 300mm wide and 450mm deep banks with aluminium body and laminated doors in a mix of colours. Works included replacing of door springs along with coin lock replacements, number wrist straps and locker numbers.

Situated to the North West of Lincoln, Riverside Enterprise Park is a 5.8 acre (2.3 hectare) development, just five miles from Lincoln City Centre and close to the village of Saxilby.The site comprises of both new build units and existing portal frame buildings, which are stripped back before being re-clad and refurbished to a very high standard.

he Great Blakenham incinerator plant is a joint initiative between Suffolk County Council and waste management company SITA UK. This energy-from-waste facility uses the household and business waste left after recycling, burning materials which would otherwise go to landfill, and generates enough electricity to power 30,000 homes. Although operations carried out at the plant are largely industrial, the appearance of the building itself including the suspended, glass fronted office section required hard landscaping to increase overall aesthetics, as well as providing a SuDS solution to ensure safe and practical surface water removal in the car parking areas...

Renovations to an existing car park were undertaken using the Koster range of epoxy flooring systems. The eye-catching Mulberry Park School and Community Hub features Proteus SC perforated TECU Gold panels with a PPC coated aluminium support frame on the school hall and the third floor cantilevered above the main entrance and Public Square. This section, installed by Cladanco, acts as an enterprise space and was inspired by the temporary floating Mulberry Harbours once used for the Allied invasion of Normandy during the Second World War.

This large college needed to increase parking capacity for students and staff and commissioned a new 5,500m2 car park. Local planning guidelines encouraged a sustainable approach to drainage to avoid excessive run-off into the local catchment. It would be used throughout the year, so there was also a requirement to avoid standing water during heavy rain. As it would be in frequent use by large numbers of staff and students, the chosen surfacing needed to provide long term durability with minimal maintenance requirement.After discussions with the main contractor, Tarmac’s experienced team recommended ULTIPOROUS, their specialist porous asphalt car park surface. Using a modified binder and open aggregate structure, ULTIPOROUS combines excellent drainage characteristics with long term durability. It reduces direct surface water run-off to help meet planning requirements. It also eliminates the problem of both standing water after heavy rain and ice patches that can occur in cold weather conditions.

The ProjectLocated only 2 miles from the town centre is the town’s most established business park, offering 85,000 sq. ft of developed self-contained office.   The major refurbishment was intended to attract a diverse range of occupiers and underline Altrincham as the leading business park in the area. Space Invader architects designed the high-quality refurbishment and specified Excelsior to manufacture and deliver the washroom package.The ChallengeThis washroom project formed part of a full and extensive refurbishment package managed by TSK Group.  The Architects vision was to create a modern, industrial environment offering the occupant complete privacy and comfort.  Standard vanity frontages and sinks did not meet the brief, a bespoke wash station was required. The SolutionExcelsior Flush 30 Full Height Cubicles provided complete privacy for the user and a flush frontage complete with aluminium rebated edge detail to the doors and pilasters enhanced the industrial theme of the washrooms. Bespoke Vanities were created to carry sit on sinks on a Marble effect, Laminated Polyrey top, all supported by specially made, galvanised steel legs, powder coated in a black finish.

Continuing with the roll-out of cycle parking infrastructure to NHS trusts across the UK, Falco has recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed a series of cycle parking for Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone.Whipps Cross Hospital marks the third cycle parking installation for Barts Health NHS Trust, with cycle hubs also installed at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London and The Royal London Hospital in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.The scheme here at Whipps Cross makes use of the tried and tested FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack, providing secure cycle parking for up to 120 bikes over two separate areas. The cycle racks have been coupled with the open and spacious FalcoRail cycle canopy, providing 10m of full weather coverage. The steelwork on the cycle canopy has been powder coated in a cordial 7015 Slate Grey RAL colour for added durability.The new facility, with everything a cyclist will need in order to visit the hospital by bike, has been installed at two separate areas at the hospital:Area 1: 10m of spacious FalcoRail cycle canopy with 48 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack.Area 2: 72 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack underneath an existing canopy structure.Whipps Cross is just one of numerous NHS hospitals Falco has provided cycle parking infrastructure to this year alone. Innovative garden refurbBuilder Ian Gray embarked on a major garden refurbishment to build a skate park and BBQ garden room at his own family home in Fareham, Hampshire.Having never worked with Lindab Rainline before Ian selected a plain galvanised system to complement the stylish design of the timber building. A key feature of the building is a truncated hipped shape roof with a raised gutter which provides shelter for the entrance to a covered seating area. Ian said, “we did this build as an on site example of what we can do and have taken orders for 5 so far”, “Rainline was very nice to work with”, adding “Thanks to Lindab for such a great product and service”.

The recent installation of a new commercial courtyard at Chineham Business Park in Basingstoke offers a widespread range of flexible industrial and office spaces.

It provided 375 new homes, through a mixture of Build-to-Rent and affordable dwellings.OverviewThe £90million Castle Park View is an exciting, award winning (Best Residential Development - Bristol Property Awards) and attractive new-build residential scheme, designed by Architect Chapman Taylor and built by Bouygues UK.This project included the regeneration of a brownfield site owned by Bristol City Council and Homes England in a prime location on the south-eastern corner of Castle Park. The development includes communal facilities, amenity space, and car parking, together with vehicular access, servicing arrangements, public realm works and landscaping. Now completed, this has set the benchmark for high rise development within the Bristol skyline, topping out at 26 storeys.Systems and productsThe client’s requirements called for a robust, extensive and holistic waterproofing system guarantee. Through Axter's vast system and product portfolio, the selection was made for a combination of Hyranger® and Cityflor® reinforced bituminous waterproofing systems, with allowance for cold applied liquid detailing where complex penetrations and compliance with NFRC Safe 2 Torch requirements were present. In such instances, Axter's Starcoat® PMMA and Starcoat® R cold applied bituminous PU liquids were used.In accordance with BS 6229:2018 section 4.4 Roof falls to achieve drainage, the concrete structure proved too complex for falls to be created with the traditional method. As such, a series of complex tapered insulation designs were completed to meet the requirements - both thermally, and to ensure a minimum of 1:80 finished falls were achieved.ComplexityGiven the regeneration of the brownfield site, it was critical to everyone involved that none of the wildlife and vegetation previously found at the site was lost. The implementation of Axter’s bespoke, bio-diverse brown roof with seeded mix was required to enhance the built environment and provide a habitat for the native species of wildlife and flora.To create the high-rise elements and visual representation of traditional castle turrets, albeit in modern form, the cladding panel detail required a bespoke castellation bracket fixed through the main roof structure of Block C. It was necessary for this to be accessed at various times during the build process. This required a complex sequence of works and the use of a cold applied liquid system.This project, like many across the UK, was hit by the outbreak of COVID-19. Extensive delays to the build programme were a challenge, plus complexities within the market through shortage of labour, transport and raw materials. Both Axter and NRA Roofing & Flooring Services Ltd worked tirelessly with the key stakeholders, such as Bouygues, to ensure timely supply and delivery of all materials was made through additional storage capacity, off site storage, negotiation and rigorous project planning. This involved collaborative open dialogue, regular workshops and project reviews.Due to the site’s location, the infrastructure and layout of roads meant that all deliveries were required to be on a strict timed system including all allowances for offloading and lifting within a tight time period. This required meticulous planning and allowances with very little margin for error or delay. In a time where COVID guidelines restricted contact to a minimum of two metres, it was incredible to see all parties work so well together to ensure these windows of time were met.Project managementAlthough all roofs were finished with a traditional three-layer bituminous membrane finish - including a tapered cut to falls insulation scheme - the project comprised a variety of roofing finishes including brown bio-diverse roofs, decorative paving and solar panel installations.Daily logistics meetings were held with all parties to co-ordinate and plan the most efficient way of undertaking each phase of the works, thus maintaining safety and efficiency at all times throughout the project.The roofing scheme was successfully delivered and handed over in April 2022 which was within the very tight programme deadlines, despite the delays and complications provided by the pandemic which inevitably led to a significant number of complications.NRA Roofing & Flooring Services Ltd were able to successfully deliver the installation of the complex amenity area to one of the roofs which included a significant area of decorative large profile ceramic tiling on pedestals, as well as an outdoor cooking area, planters and green roof areas to the tops of sheltered seating spaces.At handover, Bouygues expressed their sincere gratitude to NRA Roofing & Flooring Services Ltd in being able to deliver this highly complex, multi-faceted city centre project successfully in terms of safety, on time and within the agreed contract budget.Systems in UseHyranger®Cityflor®Starcoat® PMMAStarcoat® RknowledgmentsWe have been working closely with Axter for a number of years across our regions, during which time they have become a vital part of the supply chain, from early stage design and costing to the successful delivery of robust, guaranteed waterproofing systems.With a vast product portfolio, BYUK are confident that the build requirements and production timescales will always be met. Mitie selected TRC to conduct surveys, removals, manufacturing, and installation of more than 600 traditional double-glazed box sash windows in this delightful housing estate, originally designed by George Godwin in 1885.Located in the heart of Chelsea and offering easy access to both Fulham Road and Kings Road, Elm Park Gardens comprises multiple blocks.TRC embarked on the demanding task of surveying the existing windows and balcony doors, obtaining precise manufacturing measurements from within the flats, all without the need for external scaffolding. They maintained a close collaboration with the primary contractor and coordinated appointments with residents over a span of six months.Working within occupied flats, TRC ensured that residents’ expectations were met with cleanliness, protection, and politeness while installing the new bespoke timber windows and balcony doors.The projectThe comprehensive window replacement project covered the following aspects:The new traditional box sash windows were meticulously matched with the original style and proportions, including shape, glazing bar size and placement, overall glazing patterns, opening methods, materials, and finishes.

Located on the former Anglia Ruskin University site, in the heart of Chelmsford, City Park West is a newly created vibrant community. The scheme started in 2013 and has already delivered homes and new green space with commercial units. The second phase includes the construction of 426 new homes, 4,900sqm of commercial floor space, new public open spaces and underground parking. RCM were appointed by Conneely Facades to supply fabricated Alucobond A2 cassettes, Y-wall sheathing boards, Aluminium façade support frame and fixings to the construction of phase 2.

AG were tasked with installing paving flags at the new entrance of the Portlaoise Retail Park as well as lifting and replacing the old paving at the existing entrance.The TerraPave® flag, manufactured from aggregates sourced from around Europe, was chosen as a fine quality concrete alternative to natural stone, which helps keep costs down. It was also selected for conforming to current BREEAM sustainability criteria which AG include as standard requirement. TerraPave® also requires little to no maintenance and is completed in ground and textured finishes, giving it a more attractive look compared to other paving solutions.John Donnellan, Key Account Manager AG, said:“We felt the TerraPave® flags were the best products for these highly pedestrianised entrances due to its glowing track record and the similar projects it’s been used for. Resurfacing was required for this busy supermarket and public car park serving Billericay town centre. In addition to replacing the old surface, works included reconfiguring the layout with additional parent & child and disabled parking bays and the creation of pedestrian walkways with clear demarcation. Tarmac’s ULTIDRIVE 6mm asphalt was selected as it has a close texture finish to provide a surface that is both durable and able to resist the effects of tight turning vehicles. ULTIDRIVE is a specialist asphalt with an advanced modified binder that provides enhanced workability during installation. This assists with compaction and finish, especially when hand laying around ironwork. It also provides improved resistance to rutting and deformation from vehicle loading and to scuffing and abrasion from power-assisted steering. ULTIDRIVE has a higher softening point temperature than conventional materials and resists occasional fuel and oil spills.

Project timelines can often take years of scoping and development and none the least was the effort and commitment taken by Hardscape with this particular project managing to secure the material supply to Peel Park Campus, University of Salford in 2010 following a visit to the Kellen manufacturer in Holland with the design team.

Hove Park School and Sixth Form Centre received planning permission in 2020 for a new sports hall and facilities on its Nevill Campus. The new facilities include a two-court sports hall suitable for a variety of activities including badminton, volleyball and basketball, and new changing facilities.

Mote Park is a 450-acre green space within the town of Maidstone, Kent. The expansive park has woodland, grasslands and rivers all surrounding a 30 acre lake. The park attracts over one million visitors a year and provides source for a range of activities such as water sports, family fun days, dog walking and wildlife spotting. To safely secure the perimeter of the new play area we supplied 230 metres of Anti Trap Bow Top fencing and a number of matching gates.

One Hyde Park is a major residential and retail complex located in Knightsbridge, London. The development includes three retail units totaling 35,800 m2 and 86 residential properties with prices starting at around £20 million. Buzon UK installed 28,000 DPH pedestals to support Ipe timber decking to all roofs across all four buildings. The project was a success and Buzon UK were proud to be involved in installing their first-class products to one of London’s most prestigious developments.

Longleat Safari Park was looking to create a new restaurant to reflect its spectacular 9000-acre surroundings and withstand the demands of a popular tourist destination. Space Group was selected to design and fit the new restaurant and coffee bar, opting for Karndean Da Vinci Molten, Opus Carbo and a unique combination of Van Gogh Honey Oak, Van Gogh Distressed Oak and Van Gogh French Oak to create a mix and match pattern reminiscent of the natural colouring of Longleat’s residents.

Instead, now more than ever they want an accommodation that offers added comfort and includes additional facilities such as wellbeing spaces, gyms and even smart technology suites.Students are also recognising the importance of living sustainably and choosing a building that offers lower living costs and more environmentally friendly solutions, as well as having great curb appeal.So, in order to attract this new generation of students to the University of Exeter’s new East Park building, architects Stride Treglown designed the high quality student accommodation using bespoke rainscreen cladding panels from Proteus Facades as the central visual element.

Heated Lockers were the focus of Helmsman’s most recent project. We travelled up to South Kirby in Pontefract, Yorkshire to work alongside Triton Construction at the brand-new Innovation Hub at Production Park. Production Park is a unique support environment for the live events industry, uniting technology, creative spaces and education. Their newest venture is the brand-new Innovation Hub, with a large research studio with connected offices and teaching spaces. The new innovation hub features specialist equipment designed to support the live events industry as well as a business support programme focusing on assisting SMEs.In an area off the main entrance lobby, Helmsman installed a set of Wet Specification Heated Lockers. With a mix of 1, 2 and 4 compartments, these lockers are designed with a single or twin tube heater at the bottom of the locker, hidden within the locker stand, and perforations throughout to allow warm and/or damp air to circulate and escape the locker. Triton Construction requested a modern, heavy duty laminate finish for these heated lockers. The body of the lockers was manufactured from aluminium and powder coated in colour Ice, whilst we used Biocarbon’s Solid Grade Laminate in colour Elegant Grey for the locker doors, end panels and cladding. This laminate is a great choice as it is carbon neutral as well as being moisture resistant and easy to clean, perfect for a semi-public area such as this project. Our heated lockers can either come with a standard 3 pin power plug or can be available with a spur to wire into a fused switch. Triton construction requested a plug which was positioned on the end panel of the bank of lockers.We paired stainless steel numbers recessed into the doors with Lowe and Fletcher camlocks for a seamless finish to the lockers.  This option of lock is simple and cost effective, whilst also safe and secure.It was great to work with Triton Construction on this project and we look forward to hearing about the success of the Innovation Hub at Production Park in the future.
