Boasting a rich history for training the best in the sport, the stables are also home to licensed trainer, Andrew Balding and his family.Situated in Newbury, Berkshire, the stables recently replaced an existing gravel track with a 500-meter-long, four-meter-wide, structurally-sound concrete access road.Sika was called upon for this project, working alongside Kendalls Newbury (part of Aggregate Industries) to provide a suitable solution for contractor, L J Morrissey Contracts Ltd.

Following a series of consultations with the public and park user groups, works were undertaken in to restore the lake, reinstate public access to it, repair the leaks, and add wildlife friendly features to the area. Furnitubes supplied two types of products to the scheme – concrete Blyth cube seating blocks and Parallel table and bench sets.

Senior Architectural Systems provided the entire glazing package including thermally-efficient SF52 curtain walling for the full-height glazed frontages and robust SPW501 doors, Certified to PAS24 and Secured by Design standards, to provide secure access throughout the development.

THE PROJECTThe Waterside Park project features multiple banks of a fire rated mailboxes that comply with the BS 476 Part 22 offering a one hour integrity rating that will ‘contain and form a break to a fire’.The bank of mailboxes are recessed into a wall and integrated with a finishing surround frame providing a high quality edging to the products, hiding any gaps between brick and mailbox and ensuring a high quality finish.The mailboxes feature an inward sprung flap, which is a standard feature across the fire rated mailbox range. An intumescent strip is placed on the internal side of the mail flap, which expands when the temperature increases and ensures that the flap is kept closed – stopping the oxygen flow into the mailbox and reducing the risk of fire spreading through the mailbox.Each mailbox used in this project has been fitted with a unique identification numbering vinyl with a black colouring to easily show the users (both residents and postal operatives) where each mailbox is situated.

Wexham Park Hospital, an acute NHS hospital situated near Slough in Berkshire is protected by a network of 20 MxPro 5 fire panels.The 588-bed hospital is one of three managed by Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust, one of the top performing NHS trusts in the United Kingdom. As well as the main hospital building, the site has a large post graduate building, ambulance station, staff accommodation and a new £49 million, state-of-the-art, four-story Emergency Assessment Center. Responsible for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the system was Advanced’s partner, Static Systems Group.In addition to the MxPro 5 panels, the system also comprises 18 MxPro 5 repeater panels and 2,000 Apollo field devices which are installed in a number of hospital buildings and departments including Intensive Care, Sterile Services, Radiology and its new 9,300 sq. meters Emergency Assessment Center.

Bunn Leisure Holiday Park has revamped its facilities at Chichester resort. Part of the works included the supply of new leisure lockers and the refurbishment of the existing lockers for both the wet and dry areas of the swimming pool complex. We designed, supplied and installed the new units as well as completely overhauling the existing lockers.
Lockers are all three compartments in standard 1800mm x 300mm wide and 450mm deep banks with aluminium body and laminated doors in a mix of colours. Works included replacing of door springs along with coin lock replacements, number wrist straps and locker numbers.

he Great Blakenham incinerator plant is a joint initiative between Suffolk County Council and waste management company SITA UK. This energy-from-waste facility uses the household and business waste left after recycling, burning materials which would otherwise go to landfill, and generates enough electricity to power 30,000 homes.
Although operations carried out at the plant are largely industrial, the appearance of the building itself including the suspended, glass fronted office section required hard landscaping to increase overall aesthetics, as well as providing a SuDS solution to ensure safe and practical surface water removal in the car parking areas...
Porous, fast draining car park surface for college campus

This large college needed to increase parking capacity for students and staff and commissioned a new 5,500m2 car park. Local planning guidelines encouraged a sustainable approach to drainage to avoid excessive run-off into the local catchment. It would be used throughout the year, so there was also a requirement to avoid standing water during heavy rain. As it would be in frequent use by large numbers of staff and students, the chosen surfacing needed to provide long term durability with minimal maintenance requirement.After discussions with the main contractor, Tarmac’s experienced team recommended ULTIPOROUS, their specialist porous asphalt car park surface. Using a modified binder and open aggregate structure, ULTIPOROUS combines excellent drainage characteristics with long term durability. It reduces direct surface water run-off to help meet planning requirements. It also eliminates the problem of both standing water after heavy rain and ice patches that can occur in cold weather conditions.

The eye-catching Mulberry Park School and Community Hub features Proteus SC perforated TECU Gold panels with a PPC coated aluminium support frame on the school hall and the third floor cantilevered above the main entrance and Public Square. This section, installed by Cladanco, acts as an enterprise space and was inspired by the temporary floating Mulberry Harbours once used for the Allied invasion of Normandy during the Second World War.

The ProjectLocated only 2 miles from the town centre is the town’s most established business park, offering 85,000 sq. ft of developed self-contained office. The major refurbishment was intended to attract a diverse range of occupiers and underline Altrincham as the leading business park in the area. Space Invader architects designed the high-quality refurbishment and specified Excelsior to manufacture and deliver the washroom package.The ChallengeThis washroom project formed part of a full and extensive refurbishment package managed by TSK Group. The Architects vision was to create a modern, industrial environment offering the occupant complete privacy and comfort. Standard vanity frontages and sinks did not meet the brief, a bespoke wash station was required. The SolutionExcelsior Flush 30 Full Height Cubicles provided complete privacy for the user and a flush frontage complete with aluminium rebated edge detail to the doors and pilasters enhanced the industrial theme of the washrooms. Bespoke Vanities were created to carry sit on sinks on a Marble effect, Laminated Polyrey top, all supported by specially made, galvanised steel legs, powder coated in a black finish.

Continuing with the roll-out of cycle parking infrastructure to NHS trusts across the UK, Falco has recently designed, manufactured, supplied and installed a series of cycle parking for Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone.Whipps Cross Hospital marks the third cycle parking installation for Barts Health NHS Trust, with cycle hubs also installed at St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London and The Royal London Hospital in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.The scheme here at Whipps Cross makes use of the tried and tested FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack, providing secure cycle parking for up to 120 bikes over two separate areas. The cycle racks have been coupled with the open and spacious FalcoRail cycle canopy, providing 10m of full weather coverage. The steelwork on the cycle canopy has been powder coated in a cordial 7015 Slate Grey RAL colour for added durability.The new facility, with everything a cyclist will need in order to visit the hospital by bike, has been installed at two separate areas at the hospital:Area 1: 10m of spacious FalcoRail cycle canopy with 48 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack.Area 2: 72 spaces of FalcoLevel-Eco two-tier cycle rack underneath an existing canopy structure.Whipps Cross is just one of numerous NHS hospitals Falco has provided cycle parking infrastructure to this year alone. Innovative garden refurbBuilder Ian Gray embarked on a major garden refurbishment to build a skate park and BBQ garden room at his own family home in Fareham, Hampshire.Having never worked with Lindab Rainline before Ian selected a plain galvanised system to complement the stylish design of the timber building. A key feature of the building is a truncated hipped shape roof with a raised gutter which provides shelter for the entrance to a covered seating area. Ian said, “we did this build as an on site example of what we can do and have taken orders for 5 so far”, “Rainline was very nice to work with”, adding “Thanks to Lindab for such a great product and service”.

Car park resurfacing for a busy, town centre supermarket

Resurfacing was required for this busy supermarket and public car park serving Billericay town centre. In addition to replacing the old surface, works included reconfiguring the layout with additional parent & child and disabled parking bays and the creation of pedestrian walkways with clear demarcation. Tarmac’s ULTIDRIVE 6mm asphalt was selected as it has a close texture finish to provide a surface that is both durable and able to resist the effects of tight turning vehicles. ULTIDRIVE is a specialist asphalt with an advanced modified binder that provides enhanced workability during installation. This assists with compaction and finish, especially when hand laying around ironwork. It also provides improved resistance to rutting and deformation from vehicle loading and to scuffing and abrasion from power-assisted steering. ULTIDRIVE has a higher softening point temperature than conventional materials and resists occasional fuel and oil spills.

AG were tasked with installing paving flags at the new entrance of the Portlaoise Retail Park as well as lifting and replacing the old paving at the existing entrance.The TerraPave® flag, manufactured from aggregates sourced from around Europe, was chosen as a fine quality concrete alternative to natural stone, which helps keep costs down. It was also selected for conforming to current BREEAM sustainability criteria which AG include as standard requirement. TerraPave® also requires little to no maintenance and is completed in ground and textured finishes, giving it a more attractive look compared to other paving solutions.John Donnellan, Key Account Manager AG, said:“We felt the TerraPave® flags were the best products for these highly pedestrianised entrances due to its glowing track record and the similar projects it’s been used for. To safely secure the perimeter of the new play area we supplied 230 metres of Anti Trap Bow Top fencing and a number of matching gates.

Mitie selected TRC to conduct surveys, removals, manufacturing, and installation of more than 600 traditional double-glazed box sash windows in this delightful housing estate, originally designed by George Godwin in 1885.Located in the heart of Chelsea and offering easy access to both Fulham Road and Kings Road, Elm Park Gardens comprises multiple blocks.TRC embarked on the demanding task of surveying the existing windows and balcony doors, obtaining precise manufacturing measurements from within the flats, all without the need for external scaffolding. They maintained a close collaboration with the primary contractor and coordinated appointments with residents over a span of six months.Working within occupied flats, TRC ensured that residents’ expectations were met with cleanliness, protection, and politeness while installing the new bespoke timber windows and balcony doors.The projectThe comprehensive window replacement project covered the following aspects:The new traditional box sash windows were meticulously matched with the original style and proportions, including shape, glazing bar size and placement, overall glazing patterns, opening methods, materials, and finishes.

Car park refurbishment for Dublin City UniversityMcKeon Construction Limited, were looking for a durable and innovative resin waterproofing system for one of their clients, Dublin City University (DCU). The university required car park refurbishment to a multi-storey car park where the existing deck coating had started to fail.McKeon discussed the client requirements with Larsen Contracts (Ireland) Ltd, a specialist resin contractor. Larsen recommended the Degafloor Top Deck System for the car park refurbishment.The Degafloor Car Park Top Deck System is designed to offer the outstanding flexibility and performance required for top decks of multi-storey car parks. The unique formulation allows installation to occur extremely quickly, with the main system of 23mm being installed in a single application process.The project was completed according to specification, within budget and on time. DCU and McKeon Construction Ltd are delighted with the results and the numerous benefits that the Degafloor Top Deck System has delivered, including: outstanding durability, flexibility, a totally seamless and impervious finish, exceptional slip resistance and visually pleasing aesthetics.Eddie O’Brien of Larsen Contracts Ltd commented: “The Degafloor Car Park Top Deck System enabled us to complete the installation within the short window of time available (weather wise). One Hyde Park, London

One Hyde Park is a major residential and retail complex located in Knightsbridge, London. The development includes three retail units totaling 35,800 m2 and 86 residential properties with prices starting at around £20 million.
Buzon UK installed 28,000 DPH pedestals to support Ipe timber decking to all roofs across all four buildings.
The project was a success and Buzon UK were proud to be involved in installing their first-class products to one of London’s most prestigious developments.
SuDS Permeable Paving - Attenuation Car Park, Sudspave, Devour, Holmfirth, UK

In 2017 permission was granted for the re-devlopment of an abandoned mill in Holmfirth into a cookery school and restaurant.
The design required the car park to look as natural as possible but to withstand the manoeuvring of large delivery vehicles.
ABG offered a re-engineered solution showing that a porous type 3 attenuation stone over the whole car park removed the need for expensive attenuation tanks.
The main car park was covered in Sudspave interlocking pavers coloured to match the gravel. Truckcell was used for the turning area and filled with the same gravel for a natural finish.
Metal column casings for Stevenage rail station car park

A series of metal column casings with a bright red PPC finish are being used to conceal structural steelwork around the perimeter of Stevenage railway station’s recently opened multi-storey car park in Lytton Way.Bespoke manufactured from aluminium, the 400mm diameter column casings range between 2.7m and 3.0m in height and incorporate apertures to accommodate the galvanised steel ‘crash barriers’ which either pass through the casings or are joined inside.The red finish not only add a splash of colour to the car park’s design, but also provides clear high contrast signalling of its entrance and exit points.
Heated Lockers at the Innovation Hub, Production Park

Heated Lockers were the focus of Helmsman’s most recent project. We travelled up to South Kirby in Pontefract, Yorkshire to work alongside Triton Construction at the brand-new Innovation Hub at Production Park. Production Park is a unique support environment for the live events industry, uniting technology, creative spaces and education. Their newest venture is the brand-new Innovation Hub, with a large research studio with connected offices and teaching spaces. The new innovation hub features specialist equipment designed to support the live events industry as well as a business support programme focusing on assisting SMEs.In an area off the main entrance lobby, Helmsman installed a set of Wet Specification Heated Lockers. With a mix of 1, 2 and 4 compartments, these lockers are designed with a single or twin tube heater at the bottom of the locker, hidden within the locker stand, and perforations throughout to allow warm and/or damp air to circulate and escape the locker. Triton Construction requested a modern, heavy duty laminate finish for these heated lockers. The body of the lockers was manufactured from aluminium and powder coated in colour Ice, whilst we used Biocarbon’s Solid Grade Laminate in colour Elegant Grey for the locker doors, end panels and cladding. This laminate is a great choice as it is carbon neutral as well as being moisture resistant and easy to clean, perfect for a semi-public area such as this project. Our heated lockers can either come with a standard 3 pin power plug or can be available with a spur to wire into a fused switch. Triton construction requested a plug which was positioned on the end panel of the bank of lockers.We paired stainless steel numbers recessed into the doors with Lowe and Fletcher camlocks for a seamless finish to the lockers. This option of lock is simple and cost effective, whilst also safe and secure.It was great to work with Triton Construction on this project and we look forward to hearing about the success of the Innovation Hub at Production Park in the future. At a cost of £81m it was financed by selling off part of the original school site to finance the building of the new six-storey school for 1,500 pupils.Situated within a Conservation Area and adjacent to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s largest park, the balustrade fencing was chosen to reflect the prestigious nature of the new school's striking façade of copper, brass and bronze that adds character to the building and was designed to integrate with the heavily wooded nature of the site.The balustrade was designed as a modified version of Lang+Fulton's Novara-34 anti-climb fencing. The grating panels feature a narrow 34mm aperture which is particularly suitable for schools. The installation included a stepped area and an elevated walkway which required face plate fixings engineered to cope with a parapet application.Fencing and posts were supplied in a hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated finish.

Rhepanol fk from SIG Design & Technology was chosen to waterproof five areas of roofing with a total area of 949 m2 on a residential scheme at Worcester Park, Surrey. Built by a national house-builder, the residential complex at 68-72 Salisbury Road comprises three new-build blocks of terraced-style homes.
