Metal Z Lockers at Northern Trains

Northern Rail has returned to Helmsman multiple times for Lockers and Bench Seating for different railway services up north. For this project, the Helmsman team manufactured and installed 185 two-compartment Metal Z Lockers to accommodate 370 people.Z Lockers are the perfect locker design for maximising internal space as they have a small footprint while offering excellent space minimization. As one of the UK’s leading locker manufacturers, we also provide the project with Bespoke Z Locker designs as they were requested to be 2000mm high, 450mm wide, and 500mm deep with a perforated base. A perforated base is an excellent addition as it allows air to flow throughout the lockers.The body of the metal Z lockers were powder coated in the colour ‘Ice’, while the doors were powder coated in ‘Smoke’. The lockers were numbered with Helmsman laminated number plates and finished with Camlocks, which is our standard lock, however a fantastic choice, as they are reliable and durable ensuring users that personal belongings are safe as well as being affordable.

Clayton Hotels is a collection of well-appointed hotels throughout Ireland & the UK. They are renowned for offering a unique personality with a warm welcoming atmosphere and superior service. Brief:Cunningham Mclean, Glasgow were appointed as the main interior designers. They approached the Skopos Bespoke design service to work to a brief supplied by them. The curtains were required to be a plain linen look in a neutral colourway. For the throws, the interiors team asked for a black and gold contemporary design with a circular motif. The Skopos Bespoke team used an existing fabric as a starting point and created the luxurious looking ‘Rings’ design, a woven print which is 100% Trevira CS. Outcome:Skopos supplied curtains, sheers, bedding and cushions, creating a template scheme for a number of Clayton Hotels which have undergone a refurbishment. The curtains supplied are a Bespoke Skopos fabric known as Linas Mink. This wide width fabric was paired with a blackout lining for the curtains to meet the customer’s brief.Shantung Ice was used for the sheer, to add a simple elegance to the scheme.
Louvred Screening fence for new Meadowbank Sports Centre

The new Sports Centre at Meadowbank replaces the stadium which was used as the main venue for the Commonwealth Games in both 1970 and 1986. The modern state-of-the-art facility will provide a wide range of sporting and fitness activities for the local community and clubs, as well as a training centre for elite athletes.Lang+Fulton have supplied the perimeter fencing along the North and West boundaries. A 2400mm high Italia-100 louvred fence was chosen to provide visual screening to one of the 3G artificial football pitches and the outdoor running track which it surrounds.Italia-100 was also used to make a single and double gate connecting to each side of a turnstile entrance to the west of of the main building, with another double-leaf gate to the east elevation.The Operations Maintenance Manager at Meadowbank has personally observed that the fence has excellent anti-climb properties and is therefore providing a high level of security.The fence, posts and gates were all hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated in Grey RAL7016.
Heated Laminate Lockers at 8 Devonshire Square

Our team at Helmsman manufactured, delivered, and installed a variety of our Heated Lockers. There were 35 three-compartment Laminate Lockers to accommodate 105 people, as well as installing 28 Z Lockers to accommodate 56 people.The lockers were manufactured with wet specifications which means that the Laminate lockers are manufactured for an environment where there is humidity, which can also withstand rust. The lockers are manufactured with an aluminium and stainless-steel body and laminate doors.The specifications of the three-compartment lockers and Z lockers were to be 1775mm high, 298mm wide, and 450mm deep. Along with the lockers, the lockers were all installed with seat stands. The measurement of the seat stand was 300mm wide and 450 deep, the stands were powder coated in colour ‘Black’, to match the body of the lockers. Whereas the seating was in our standard slats of Ash Hardwood.The body of the Heated Lockers was powder coated in ‘Black’. The laminate doors were in the vibrant colour of ‘Ballerina’. The heated lockers were finished with Lowe & Fletcher Nimbus in ‘Black’ which is a great choice as it secures personal belongings, along with many benefits such as having a collection of user modes such as public, private, or technician mode.
Essential Staff Lockers at Alexander Dennis Ltd

Our team at Helmsman manufactured and installed a variety of staff lockers. Helmsman team manufactured 75 full-length metal lockers, 9 garment collectors, 5 of 15-compartment garment dispensers, and a special 15-compartment garment locker, with the top half there are 5 compartment garment dispensers and the bottom 10 compartments manufactured as garment collectors. All the lockers were finished with sloping tops. Sloping tops are a brilliant extra as they prevent the growth of dust and dirt on top of the lockers.The specification of the metal lockers was 1800mm high, 380mm wide, and 450mm deep. The colours of the lockers were picked from our standard shades, the body of all the lockers was powder-coated in the shade ‘Ice’ whereas the doors were powder-coated in ‘Skye’ which is a great vibrant shade. All the staff lockers were finished with our Camlocks, which is a great secure lock, as it assures the users that their personal belongings are safe and secure whilst at work.Additionally, for their order, our customers requested 5 bench seats in a wet spec which is suitable for wet environments with specifications 3250mm long, and 350mm deep. Benches are an excellent addition that allows employees to sit down when they need to change their shoes than standing and balancing.

Our team at Helmsman manufactured and installed 35 three-compartment Laminate Lockers and 55 Solid-grade Laminate cladding for this project. The specifications of laminate lockers were 1800mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep.The body of the lockers was powder coated in our shade of ‘Ice’, whereas the choice of the laminate, our client decided on colour ‘Graphite’. Along with the Heavy Duty Lockers, solid-grade laminate cladding was also requested which was in colour of ‘Graphite’ to match the lockers. Solid-grade laminate top cladding is a great choice as it encloses the lockers and reduces the storage on top of the lockers.The Laminate Lockers at Amazon was finished with vinyl numbering as well as Ojmar combination lock 8001 in ‘Black’. Ojmar combination lock is an excellent choice of lock type, as it provides options of setting the locks as a free-use mode or dedicated mode, which means that it can be used by different users each time or permanently by one. The specification of the locker is 1800 high, 300 wide and 450 deep, powder coated in black and with a laminate door colour of ‘Fenix Nero’.‘Fenix Nero’ is an aesthetic style of laminate, which has low light reflectivity with a matt surface. Additionally, it has a soft touch as well as being anti-fingerprint colour.On the laminated lockers the clients decided to have an oval laminate number plate with a key, making it easy for staff to use as they will be allocated a locker and a key to keep their personal belongings secure.The bespoke lockers were designed and manufactured at Helmsman. Hotel Café Royal has just undergone a complete refurbishment and internal re-build. Part of the new complex is a state-of-the-art Spa and Gym which is located in the basement. Directly next to the hotel is Regent Street, below which runs the Bakerloo underground train line.Structure-borne noise levels from the trains were far too high to create the relaxing environment required for a top class Spa. The acoustic consultants therefore specified that all of the noise sensitive spaces must be isolated on a Stravifloor Deck concrete floating floor system.Café Royal’s 1,200 sqm Wellbeing Centre provides a personal and intimate holistic experience. It has a large lap pool and four different areas, corresponding to the four natural elements: spa/water, gym/fire, yoga/air and organic bar/earth.The spa offers a variety of Watsu hydro-experiences, a private and communal Hammam and signature Akasha treatments. Moods are enhanced by restorative music, aromas and gentle lighting. The gym has the most advanced fitness equipment, including Kinesis machines. There is a spacious aerobics studio and a private training room. Yoga, Tai-Chi and Pilates are offered in the calming area, with bespoke classes.
GEC Anderson Products Feature At The Hold, Suffolk

The Hold, Ipswich, contains important historical archives, records and artefacts, pertaining to the Suffolk area and is operated by Suffolk County Council.An impressive new archive centre, sited on the Ipswich waterfront, has recently been added. Architects, Pringle Richards Sharratt were responsible for the project and the contstruction was completed by RG Carter. The new facility includes an auditorium, learning spaces, archive and restoration rooms, gallery, shop, café and significant circulatory spaces.GEC Anderson stainless steel sinks, worktops and cabinets were specified within the conservation areas. The units were supplied and installed by GEC Anderson during the first lockdown phase of the Covid pandemic of 2020. Despite the obvious difficulties presented by the restrictions associated with the outbreak, work was able to progress as planned, under the special safety arrangements imposed by the main contractor.Managing Director of GEC Anderson, Martin Tye, comments “We do feel fortunate to be included within so many interesting and imaginative projects, such as The Hold. It is always inspiring to visit site, personally. In this instance, the special challenges of the times did not make our work easier but, under the expert guidance of RG Carter, we felt safe at all times whilst on site.”

TVS was tasked with designing a versatile and multi-functional training area to be rolled out across various newXercise4Less sites.The brief was to include an area for sledge work along with floor demarcations for various activities such as walking lunges, sprinting and battle rope exercises.To fulfil this requirement, TVS first created layout plans to fit the space prior to agreeing the final design with the client. Once the design was signed off, TVS set about ordering materials to complete each of the projects. With the subfloor levelled to within an acceptable tolerance, a hard‐wearingmulti‐sports surface TVS Sports Carpet (Green) was bonded to the substrate to create a central lane for pushing and pulling a sledge.Meanwhile, SPORTEC Color‐0 a black recycled rubber floor covering was installed around the outside of this area.To create a 2‐lane running track with 1m markings, white lines were then applied to the black rubber utilising a 2‐part PU paint.The perimeter edge detail was finished with a black uPVC trim, providing a safe and neat transition between the adjacent floor finishes.The workout area is used effectively for training small groups of people as well as one‐to‐one personal training sessions across multiple sites.

THE PROJECTRasGas is one of Qatar’s leading energy companies and one of the most innovative and successful businesses in the global liquefied natural gas industry. To increase the secure handling and storage of the companies mail, The Safety Letterbox Company Ltd, were tasked with providing an effective answer to eliminate the problems in losing and misplacing their post.The sorting and distribution of the mail was time consuming and there were no secure measures in place regarding access and privacy to sensitive mail being distributed around the company. The solution was provided and installed by The Safety Letterbox Company taking all their needs into consideration. Incoming mail would be posted into individual mailboxes via a letterflap and then retrieved by the recipient of the mail via a digital locking system. This would have the effect of cutting out the use of keys and increasing security when using the mailbox (as codes could be changed and updated as employees left the company).Outgoing mail was accommodated in larger individual freestanding posting boxes, with access via the digital locking system. Standalone battery operated digital locks provides the user with immediate and simple keypad access without the need for a key. Users have the flexibility to set and change their personal entry code whilst a pre-set master code ensures that supervisor access is available at all times.

Moller & Purcell Miller TrittonMain Contractor: Bovis Lend LeaseApplication: Compact Roof - Gallery Roof & Restaurant Terrace FOAMGLAS® S3 (Slab )Finish: PaversFOAMGLAS® insulation was specified for the new gallery terrace and restaurant of the National Maritime Museum. With limited height available upon the roof there was no space for a concrete screed to falls. Therefore, architects Purcell Miller Tritton needed a factory machined tapered insulation with a slope to shed water. In addition, the limestone terrace paving must withstand the loads imposed by vehicles and so the insulation beneath had to withstand these dynamic loads without any compression.FOAMGLAS® T4+ slab insulation was specified for the project due to these conditions. FOAMGLAS® does not move or deflect under loads, and is available factory machined with a tapered slope. Its thermal performance is reliable and permanent and it is guaranteed for the lifetime of the building. The new roof of the gallery has paved areas, and green planting with hidden drain age and water supplies.The restaurant terrace gives wonderful view of the World Heritage Site, Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory. The gallery has some fascinating objects; including jewels which belonged to Sir Francis Drake, journals written by Captain Cook’s during his long voyages, and personal items that survived the sinking of HMS Titanic.

The school provides its students with the tools they need to use their education to become the best versions of themselves, succeed in rewarding occupations, and create wonderful lives.Helmsman manufactured and installed 245 four-compartment Laminate Metal Lockers. The specification of the lockers was 1775mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep. When the lockers were being manufactured, the school requested that they have a sloping top. Sloping tops are a common choice for school lockers because they reduce the accumulation of dust and allow for storage without risking a safety hazard if something falls off.The laminate Metal locker was manufactured with the body to be metal and the doors to be laminate. The body of the lockers was coated in our standard colour of ‘Ice’. Whilst the doors were powder coated in Blue Iris, Blue Tiber, and Paradise Blue, which symbolised the colours of the school. The lockers were finished with oval number plates above the Camlocks, which is a fantastic choice for school lockers as the students will feel assured that their personal items are safe in their laminate metal locker.Laminate Metal lockers are fantastic materials for school lockers as they give the look of freshness and stylish as the material of laminate doors does better withstanding dents, and scratches and can be more long-term for the schools.

Also, to help the regional science and tech sector to succeed in the future.Our team at Helmsman has manufactured and installed 57 three-compartment and 8 two-compartment laminate lockers. The laminate lockers were requested by the clients to be Wet Spec, which helps the material not to rust, peel, or crack under humidity. The measurements of the lockers were 1775mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep. The bottom locker doors were wished to be dropped.The lockers' body was powder coated Jet Black, with the laminate door coated Neutral Medium Gray, provided by Fundermax. Our laminate lockers provide a modern, heavy-duty finish and are great to be used on a regular basis. The lockers were finished with oval laminate number plates above the nimbus digital combination in black made by Lowe & Fletcher. Our team at Helmsman manufactured and installed new lockers at West Coventry Academy. West Coventry Academy is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form.The academy requested metal school lockers, with 4 compartments, with sloping tops. Sloping tops are a beneficial option for schools as it is a way to prevent people from using the top of the lockers as a storage area which could cause a safety hazard.Metal lockers are a popular and essential option for schools, as they can come in a variety of compartments, shapes, colours, and sizes. Stronelairg Wind Farm Case Study - Promat, Duratseel

As a leading provider of renewable energy across the UK, SSE Energy Services aims to drive the transition to a net zero carbon world through the development, construction and operation of state-of-the-art renewable energy assets. To support this mission, in 2017 SSE built a wind farm in Stronelairg - a remote area of Scotland near Loch Ness. At an elevation of around 600 meters above sea level, it is one of SSE’s windiest sites. The site includes 66 wind turbines and has the capacity to generate 228 MW of energy.As part of the project, SSE needed to create three transformer enclosure bays on the site, each of which had to meet a demanding four-hour fire-rated standard. This required the installation of walls and ceilings - as well as internal access doors for maintenance personal - that would all meet this high-level of fire resistance. It was also necessary that various penetrations, including wall bushings, were able to safely pass through the barriers in the enclosure bays.An additional challenge was that the project would have to be completed in an isolated setting where the work would be constantly exposed to cold, wet weather conditions. Having worked with Promat and its products for more than a decade, the project’s subcontractor, Invicta, knew its fire protection solutions would be a perfect fit for the wind farm’s unique requirements.

A Rutland architectural slide arm door closer of well proved engineering was used to bring the building together, ease the door action and blend into the surrounds. The closers needed to be high quality and cost effective with the corridors being concealed in the floor. Is one of the largest Porsche Centres in the UK and represents a significant investment in both, the Porsche business and the local area.The distinctive showroom features a customer specification lounge in which visitors can personalize their car, have a coffee in the bar or enjoy a display of the history of Porsche in the social hub.The workshop is equipped with 10 bays, plus a dedicated bay for a new MOT service and a Direct Dialogue facility for on-the-spot diagnosis, as well as a cosmetic repair service and tire fitting area.Axis 3 Design specified FOAMGLAS® FLOOR BOARD F for the loadbearing insulation to satisfy the target U-value and eliminate thermal bridging within the foundation detail.Due to the high loads associated within the workshop and showroom, FOAMGLAS® FLOOR BOARD F was the best solution for this application. It covers a total area of 2500 m2."We selected FOAMGLAS® for its inherent durability and high compressive strength," explains architect Kevin Conlan at Axis 3 Design, "This made it ideal to use as under slab and perimeter insulation. Its primary function is to act as insulation, but with the additional advantage of no risk of water absorption. This means its thermal performance is going to remain constant for the lifetime of the building."

Isca Academy is Part of Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust to raise the aspirations and outcomes for their students enabling them to become fulfilled, and confident students. The school prides itself on being a true full school with students having a broad range of skills and ambitions on entry. Helmsman supplied and installed 205 four-compartment Laminate Metal Lockers. The specifications of the lockers were 1775mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep. The school requested a mixture of sloping top and flat top. Sloping tops are a popular option for schools as they can prevent safety hazards as items can’t be stored on the top as well as accumulation of dust and dirt.It was requested to have a Laminate Metal Locker. The metal body of the lockers was coated in our standard shade of ‘Ice’. Whereas the Laminate doors were powder coated in Paradise blue, Yellow Crisp, Orange, and Hot Pepper. The laminate metal lockers were finished with oval laminated number plates above the Camlocks. Camlock is a great lock option for school lockers as it secures students’ personal belongings safe.Laminate metal lockers are a great option for schools since the material gives the look modern and sleek. Our team manufactured and installed 26 two-compartment Laminate Heated Lockers to accommodate 52 people, designed for a wet area, which assures that there will be no risk of peeling or rust.The specification of two-compartment Heated Lockers were 1800mm high, 300mm wide, with 1mm rivets, and 450mm deep. Lockers are positioned on top of a 175mm stand, which allows the heat to enter the lockers through perforation. The Laminate Heated lockers were requested to be in ‘Gris Orage’ by Polyrey, which offers a visually pleasing design that matches the room’s colour scheme.Helmsman Heated lockers are the perfect solution for wet clothes, with laminate doors to fit your aesthetic needs. The lockers are manufactured with a perforated base as well as the shelf allowing the warm air to circulate inside the locker and perforated slots at the top allow the damp air to flow out.Laminate Heated Lockers were finished with Lowe & Fletcher Nimbus in Black. Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London

Overview The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane is located in the City of Westminster and is the oldest theatre in London still in use. There have been four different theatres built on the site, the first of which opened its doors in 1663. The current theatre was designed by Benjamin Dean Wyatt and opened in its current format in 1812. The theatre, now owned and operated by Andrew Lloyd Webber's company LW Theatres, has just gone through an astonishing £60 million refurbishment, designed by architects Haworth Tompkins, which includes new bars, dressing rooms and even a new 16 person lift to grant easy access to upper levels! Installation Over the past 2 years, C.A.T. has worked closely with the client, the architects and the flooring contractors - to supply a range of solid brass flooring profiles and stair nosings throughout this iconic building. Hand-finished here in the UK, these Brass Nosings adorn the staircases within the theatre's auditorium and many of the original cantilevered staircases in the foyers and Royal Boxes. Alongside Loughton Contracts, C.A.T conducted multiple site visits, to measure and template the hundreds of steps across the theatre. These measurements were conveyed to our fabrication team, who worked extremely hard to bring the nosing’s to life and replicate the detail of the treads, to ensure the overall finish was first class. Last but by no means least, as you walk into the newly refurbished theatre foyer, you will be greeted by the stunning bespoke carpet by Alarwool, expertly finished by Loughton Contracts, with our 16mm solid brass rods, hand-turned by our factory and hand finished in antique brass, to match the nosings and trims throughout. Be sure to look up too, the atrium roof is simply stunning!

Capable of ennobling the surrounding environment thanks to their value and uniqueness, Atlas Concorde concrete-look tiles were chosen to furnish outdoor paving and the edges of the outdoor swimming pool. Between the old and the new building, there is an approximately 800m² big spa and pool area engrafted in the topography of the castle rock. The historic buildings surrounding the castle yard are used for social purposes, medical fitness, healthy living and mindfulness training of the body, soul and mind. The exclusive design of the indoor rooms is not to be compared with the magnificence of the outside of the buildings.Noble materials and luxurious items of furniture in the guest rooms create an ideal setting for convalescence and relaxation. This temporary home equipped with KEUCO furnishings and accessories in the bathroom offer the guests plenty of storage space for personal care products. Hannah Cecil-Harden is a director at de Gournay, a family business which was founded by her father, Claud Cecil Gurney. De Gournay makes the most beautiful hand-painted wallpapers and fabrics and the company’s work is found in some of the finest buildings around the world. As you would expect, every room of Hannah’s London home has been exquisitely decorated. The property has undergone many transformations in the time that Hannah has lived there, but the most recent changes were needed to accommodate her expanding family. Hannah and her husband wanted their house to work better for life with their four young children.All the floors of the house have been updated, but perhaps the biggest change was turning the existing basement into a playroom with adjoining utility and bathroom. Having worked with Hannah and the team at de Gournay on a previous project, Clement was delighted to be asked to manufacture the new steel doors that were included within the designs. We were excited that the new steel doors were to be painted in unique vibrant colours to match the stunning wallpapers that adorn the new space and we worked closely with Hannah and her team to find just the right match. We always say that our bespoke steel products can be painted in specialist hues from across the entire colour spectrum – these doors demonstrate what is possible!Hannah said: “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Clement Windows on this exciting project which was for a children’s playroom. I wanted to go with bold and bright colours and they were so accommodating about this, everything about the project was handled professionally and with utmost care from conception down to a flawless install. Chinmaya Mission exists to provide individuals with the wisdom and practical means for personal growth and development, enabling them to become positive contributors to society. At Chinmaya Kirti, their home in London, a major renovation project was designed as a vision for future generations, rather than just an improved building.Working with architects, KJC, and contractor, Home Republic, Style was specified to be part of that vision, installing moveable walls to enable one large space in the classroom/bookshop area to be easily converted into six multi-functional rooms based on daily requirements. A combination of multiple Dorma Hüppe Variflex Glass and Variflex solid semi-automatic moveable walls were agreed as the best solution, with the glass moveable walls providing a 52dB acoustic barrier and the solid wall 55dB.With a standard anodised aluminium frame finish to the glass walls, and a melamine finish to the solid walls, the final installation provided a light and calm feel to the room design.“This is a great example of how using a combination of glass and solid moveable walls can transform how space is used,” said Michael Porter, sales director for Style South.“The glass moveable walls can combine to create a temporary corridor while the solid moveable walls then segregate the space into smaller individual rooms. Or the Mission can choose a whole range of combinations – from using one glass wall to simply divide the room in two, or to use the walls to provide varying sizes of rooms to suit the requirements of the day.“Such is the quality of the acoustic integrity that multiple events can take place within the segregated rooms without disturbing one another, which was an important factor at the Mission.“By including pass doors also means the moveable walls can remain in place for extended periods and the rooms can be accessed and used with ease.”
