It has been five years since the redevelopment and renovation of the female and male shower and changing rooms in the health hub at All Saints Hotel, Golf and Spa.This modern hotel has something for everyone, set in the countryside, it is a peaceful vacation spot close by to beautiful villages, towns and cities. We had a nice revisit at the golf club and installed some more leisure lockers.All Saints hotel has been expanding ever since, and we’ve been asked to come back to manufacture and install additional lockers for the health hub changing areas. Helmsman supplied two-compartment leisure lockers. These lockers have specifically been made to provide secure storage for spa users in a wet environment. These two-compartment leisure lockers differ in colour and have engraved numbering and ‘SPA’ to differentiate between the gym lockers and spa lockers to benefit customers.Five years on, Helmsman lockers and cubicles installed back in 2016 are in good condition considering the high usage from All Saints customers. We take pride in producing high-quality products. We love working with a local business and look forward to many more years of working together.

The Service Department at Helmsman have been hard at work at Felixstowe Leisure Centre. The changing rooms at Felixstowe Leisure Centre were kitted out with Helmsman’s lockers many years ago, and whilst the existing lockers and cubicles had lasted a long time, they were tired and generally needed refreshing.The locker bodies were still great quality, so we manufactured and installed new doors, with new locks and numbering, and supplied wrist straps for the keys. The lockers were a fairly old design, that we don’t often have requested anymore, however as we provide the full package at Helmsman, we can manufacture most bespoke options, including replacements for lockers from other manufacturers. See our Riverside Leisure Centre Case Study for example.Our team manufactured brand new laminate locker doors with matching cubicle doors and facias for this service project. We used BioCarbon’s Carbon Neutral laminate in colour “Graphite” and Abet Laminate in colour “Yellow Pop” to refresh the changing rooms with a splash of colour, completely transforming the area from the white and blue theme that existed before. The locker doors are complete with brand new numbering and Lowe and Fletcher cam locks with wrist straps for the keys. These wrist straps are a great addition for lockers in leisure centres, providing the flexibility for users to wear their key whilst they use the facilities.It was interesting for the team to work with an older design of Helmsman locker, and with the refresh of the lockers and cubicles, the changing rooms at Felixstowe Leisure Centre look brand new again. In late 2017 Helmsman supplied and fitted approximately 70 No System 2000 lockers in a range of 1 compartment in half height lockers, 2 compartment and 3 compartment lockers with plant on doors. Helmsman Frontline Changing Cubicles Frontline Shower Cubicles and Frontline W/C Cubicles are also installed at this Leisure Centres.

The Glasgow Club within Kelvin Hall hosts a state of the art Super Gym. Prospec supplied and installed the club with Prospec Marathon ‘Health Club’ lockers. Manufactured from a high density MFC body with solid grade laminate doors, the lockers integrate perfectly. Prospec Marathon lockers have been designed to be accessible to all users and incorporate contrasting coloured number plates with brail, along with a number of accessible lockers for wheelchair users. They were also provided with the state of the art RFID locking system, compatible with Wellness System®

We have supplied various Helmsman System 2000 Lockers to this fantastic project at the University of Strathclyde.. We supplied approximately 300 No System 2000 2 compartment lockers as well as 35 No System 2000 3 compartment lockers. We have installed also our System 3206 bench seating which equates to approximately 100 meters.

The high-quality health and fitness changing facilities were fitted with leisure glass lockers in the form of our leisure lockers in one compartment, two-compartment and three compartments fitted with 10mm glass-silk blue doors. We also supplied cubicles, bench seating, IPS which complemented the area. The wet side changing and dry sports changing areas were supplied with leisure lockers. Locker doors were selected from the Formica range in a mix of violet, heather and grey, red, yellow and oak, leaf green, lime and grey and tropical blue, blue and grey.

The Warwick School is undergoing a major transformation. It has a brand new school building, and as of September 2021, it will have a brand new logo, uniform and name, Carrington School. Kerry, the headteacher, talks about the old buildings in Surrey Live, “they were dilapidated. They were dark, small, in some places the heating didn’t work properly. They had just run out of steam, and over the years of thousands of students going through them, they needed some care and attention.” The new teaching block is made up of 22 classrooms, a dining space, a social area for students to relax in and a sports hall. This makeover and expansion have helped the school to increase its GCSE range.The new name derives from Richard Carrington, an astronomer who built Redhill Observatory in 1852. It was there that he carried out pioneering investigations on solar flares and devised a system for numbering complete rotations of the sun, still in use today. Some of the secondary school students live in Redhill streets which carry his name.Helmsman is extremely happy to have manufactured, supplied and installed laminate school lockers. These are in the new building over two floors. The four-compartment lockers have provided storage for 157 students. These laminate school lockers have sloping tops and end panels to keep the lockers secure from vandalism and to keep them clean. During the install, these lockers were bolted together side by side and to the walls for safety purposes. We used Abet Laminati for the doors. The school chose beautiful colours of aubergine, tones of grey and others colours to make these lockers stand out and to match the modern feel around the building.Installation of standard school lockers of 1775 height by 300 widths and 450 depths with the standard swivel locks decorate the new building. Swivel locks have two functions: Locking with a padlock, and it can also be used as a handle to open/close the locker. Each compartment has an oval laminated number plate. These are the ingenious FalcoCrea cycle lockers recently manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco at the Queens Cross Housing Association, Cedar Court, for Glasgow City Council. Providing secure cycle parking for up to four bikes per cycle locker, in an eye catching and compact design, the new FalcoCrea cycle lockers have been commissioned by the Council for the residents of Cedar Court to benefit from.Each cycle locker features bold, distinctive branding on each side of the unit and strongly promotes cycling to residents of the housing association as an alternative mode of transport.Feedback from residents of Cedar Court has been extremely positive with all cycle spaces being fully booked and a waiting list already in place due to overwhelming demand.The FalcoCrea has proven to be a highly popular cycle locker since its launch last year providing local authorities with a cycle parking solution which answers three common problems; security, spacing footprint and branding. State of the art changing rooms supplied with Fully Framed Cubicles, Wet area Lockers and Cubicles. A mix of Helmsman System 2000 lockers and Glass Lockers situated together totally compliment each other with walnut formica and luscious lime coloured glass doors. These were supplied along with matching vanity shelving and GRP bench seating. The colouring of the Glass shower cubicles and glass toilet cubicles was carefully chosen in a clear interlayer and clear panel glass to bring the overall look of the changing rooms together. This project oozes luxury and quality on all fronts.

The public leisure facilities include fitness studios and a 100-station gym, a four court sports hall, a 25m fitness and teaching pool, as well as a spa.Saunders Boston chose 2 different locker and changing room styles to suit each space, reflecting the family, adults, and spa areas with distinctive colours and textures of HPL to represent each environment.

Torrance Park Golf Club is set in the beautiful moorland of North Lanarkshire. A bespoke design was required for the lockers due to the unique size requirements of a golf course and our Marathon Wet Glass Lockers achieve this. Manufactured with 10mm Toughened Glass doors and a robust aluminium carcass, the lockers cater perfectly for the members golf equipment without compromising quality or finish. Our award winning Cabrillant cubicles continued the use of glass into the changing facilities in the form of showers. These are complimented by our Marathon System D WC cubicles, duct panelling, vanity units and bench seating

Specified by Dundee-based fabrication company Lam-Art, 700m2 of durable Polyrey compact solid grade laminate in a variety of complementary colourways now covers the cubicle and locker areas at Montrose. Grey M001 Maryland Clair can be found adorning the ends of the locker units, with its contemporary grey mineral finish creating a striking contrast with the dark blue C018 Chardon and light blue B048 Bleu Oslo laminates that now cover the cubicle and locker doors. Two grey shades, G028 Gris Flanelle and G003 Gris Perle, were chosen for the cubicle compartments and provide a toned-down look.

Helmsman supplied the full lockers and cubicle package including, benches, an integrated plumbing system (IPS) and vanity units.Most of the lockers and cubicles manufactured, supplied and delivered were from glass. Glass lockers and cubicles bring a sense of maturity and modern feel to the changing rooms.Moreover, they also requested to have Helmsman's front line cubicles range with a floating leg and hidden fixings for a more aesthetic look.Several different types of benches are fitted in the changing rooms, including island benches, double-sided benches with coat hook bars and, benches fixed wall to the floor. Installation of the project took place in several stages, which depended on the contractors and available floor space.

How Lockers Support the Mobile Phone Ban in Schools

The Pyramids Centre in Portsmouth has had a new lease of life with a £2.5m makeover. The ageing facility is now a modern leisure complex offering a fun attraction to the local families. The new facilities include a state-of-the-art gym, trampoline, and soft play park.Helmsman was sub-contracted to supply the lockers and cubicles package providing a turnkey solution to create a modern and sharp changing room area with a comfortable feel.For the Pyramids Centre leisure project we manufactured, delivered, and installed modern laminate lockers of 3 and 5 doors. They are heavy duty and suitable for a wet environment. A row of three-compartment lockers have an integrated cantilever seat stand matching the Abet Walnut (616) laminate lockers and cubicles. The integrated seat stand on these lockers is a great space-saving solution and is perfect for this area.The front line cubicle range fitted the requirements for the toilet and shower cubicles, installed alongside the lockers. The Walnut laminate runs throughout these changing rooms as one of the dominant colours. The cubicle partitions are in Abet Light Grey (478) to separate each cubicle and bring light into the space to complement the rest of the interior.The vanity units and timber integrated plumbing system (IPS) panels are also manufactured from the matching laminate. The IPS in the toilet cubicles are the same colour as the partitions, giving a natural flow throughout. The wall to floor benches and free-standing benches are in Walnut laminate colour as laminate slats are perfect and protected in the wet areas.Most importantly Helmsman has a dedicated and experienced in-house design team supported by its on-site factory. Shower and changing facilities bind practicality and design at this new-build office development in Smithfield. At The Haymarket Building, practicality meets excellent design, and Architects Reddy Architecture + Urbanism have created a sophisticated space that the tenants can be proud of. The building is accessed via an impressive double-height lobby, and this grandeur is maintained throughout the entire building, including the washrooms.Split over two floors, the basement houses a gym and self-contained male and female changing rooms with a separate toilet block on the upper basement level. Venesta’s Unity Full Height cubicle range was the product of choice for the designers of this project, due to its versatility.Model Z Active 400mm Bench Lockers were specified for both the male and female changing rooms. The unique Z-shaped locker provides space for storing bags and hanging clothes and has the benches integrated into the locker units saving on floor space for a minimalist room layout. Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter is run by Exeter Leisure and boasts a Gym, Swimming Pool, Health Suite, Sports Hall, Squash Courts and more. Following Helmsman’s work with Exeter City Council on the changing rooms at St Sidwell’s Point Leisure Centre, we were asked to return to Exeter for some repair work at the Riverside Leisure Centre.Whilst Helmsman had not fitted the original lockers and locks, our service department are equipped to help with repairs and replacements for lockers and other products provided and/or fitted by other manufacturers. The Riverside Leisure Centre lockers had a number of faulty digital locks, and so we recommended a new lock that would stand the test of time.Our team removed 290 doors and re-drilled to fix the new Ojmar OTS Advanced RFID locks. The existing doors with new locks were then re-fixed to the lockers. The new locks allow users to open or close lockers by simply pressing a proximity media: card, bracelet or Wellness® key against the doorknob. With a high battery life and vandal proof design, this lock is the perfect choice for a leisure centre changing rooms.It was great to be invited back by Exeter City Council and highlights the high quality of work Helmsman provided at St Sidwell’s Point. Other new additions to the leisure centre include a new café and creche as well as improvements to general access and the main sports hall and ice rink.The improvements achieved by Chelmsford City Council and Pick Everard architects aimed to make the space more accessible for disabled guests. The new swimming pool facility has a submersible entry platform and pool pod for wheelchair users as well as an access hoist for the learner pool. With the introduction of new changing places units and additional accessible wet and dry changing rooms the site is geared towards making the experience of their disabled guests as easy as possible with the support of Chelmsford Access Group.LSA are proud to have worked with Riverside Ice and Leisure since 2006 when we first supplied some lockers and cubicles to changing rooms. Over the next 12 years we kept in touch with the leisure centre, adding more Geschwender cubicles and lockers to the site as well as completing minor repairs and supplying a few replacement keys and locks.In 2018 we were thrilled when Riverside and the architects at Pick Everard contacted us to be part of the new major refit project. In addition to restyling the space with a more modern colour scheme and accessories we were able to design the changing room from the ground up. The brief for the Aquatics Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland – a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen City Council and sportscotland – was extremely demanding. Sustainability was put at the forefront of the design. The specification included the awardwinning Cabrillant shower cubicles, plus the versatile, durable Marathon range of Conform cubicles and Wet lockers. The locker doors are manufactured from toughened and laminated glass, which allowed the architect to incorporate quality normally associated with high-end health clubs without compromising safety of use within this heavy traffic public facility.

Better Gym, North Greenwich, is one of London’s most technologically advanced gyms. The moment you walk through the doors, your Technogym MyWellness Key will provide access to the facility, equipment and of course the Prospec lockers. Working to the exacting specification of Bignell Shacklady Ewing, the Cabrillant 600 cubicles and glass lockers in a purple and white colour scheme creates a feel of modern opulence. The OTS locking system provided operates on Mifare 1k technology which is compatible with the RFID of the Technogym MyWellness Key, allowing the user to gain access to all the facility has to offer.

The £27.5 million Arena heralds the most exciting and important changes to leisure facilities in Derby in the last 40 years. The new arena is primarily a Velodrome with space for sports and physical activity; however it also serves as a venue to host cultural events, exhibitions, product launches and conferences. Prospec Marathon Connect cubicles, Marathon laminate lockers, vanity units and benching are installed throughout all of the changing areas. A spectacular curved bank of low level lockers dominates the outfield circulation area, creating both a focal point and a huge volume of storage.

Both WC and Shower cubicles come in the form of Marathon System D Cubicles. Featuring a curved aluminum pilaster and headrail, the 10mm toughened float glass doors and dividers look stunning in Traffic White from the Prospec standard glass collection. Our Marathon Laminate Wet lockers are also finished in Prospec White and give users the space to lock their belongings away while immersing themselves in the one of a kind spinning experience. In a mix of 2 and 3 tier configurations, the lockers are secured with Prospec OCS electronic code locks.

In providing changing facilities for both production and warehouse employees, Stadco’s personal locker system, based on two per employee, was no longer fit for purpose.

Both the changing rooms and staff areas contain over 100 Prospec supply and installed Marathon wet use laminate lockers. Prospec Marathon lockers are designed specifically to withstand the rigours of a busy leisure centre. The installation also included other products from Prospec’s versatile Marathon range such as Marathon Conform fully framed cubicles, bespoke solid surface vanities, Cabrillant shower cubicles and both wall mounted and double island bench seating. Prospec worked closely with the specifying architects Roberts Limbrick, main contractor Pellikaan Construction, and leisure operator Places for People Leisure.

We installed our Marathon Glass Wet Lockers, Cabrillant 600 Toughened Glass Cubicles and Marathon 600 Laminate Cubicles at Cannon Street. The Lockers are finished in Opti-White 10mm Toughened Glass with Mirror end panels and Hasp and Clasp locks. A bespoke interior, with captive coat hangers and aluminium shoe shelves was created. The markets most popular glass Cubicle system, Prospec Cabrillant, is a favourite of Gymbox, and the Black Glass gives an astounding finish reflecting the colour scheme of each changing room. In stark contrast, the WCs were finished in a Matt Solid Grade Laminate.

Irvine Leisure Centre showcases Prospec’s Cabrillant 700 cubicle system in standard float, toughened and laminated glass. Both Prospec Marathon glass and laminate wet lockers are featured within the centre, each £1 coin return lock accepting both the new and old £1 coins. Furthermore, other products installed by Prospec would include the Marathon Conform Suspended system inside the Village Change area and Disabled Access lockers which act in accordance with Sport Scotland and BREAAM guidelines. Prospec products at The Portal are finished with a contemporary colour pallet, which gives a clean and modern feel.

Graves Health and Sports in Sheffield is a state of the art centre providing users with swimming, studio, gym, tennis, gymnastics and trampolining facilities. Prospec Marathon Conform Changing cubicles in Solid Grade Laminate and Cabrillant 700 Shower Cubicles, featuring Toughened and Laminated glass offer a more contemporary feel to the public change area. Prospec Marathon Laminate Wet lockers, with coin return locks and bespoke glass end panels, add an additional element complementing the quality feel of this first class centre. A range of accessible lockers are installed throughout the facility to ensure all users have complete access.

THE PROJECTBundesgartenschau is a German national horticultural festival which happens every year, it is also know as BUGA. The theme for this show was innovation, this is where RENZ stepped in as a supporting partner.A SHOWCASE OF INTELLIGENCEThe show runs from April to October and the festival showcased the host town for the first time in 70 years. They built a suburb town called Neckarbogen simply to house 700 people during the event. In support of the innovative theme, RENZ added a clever touch or innovation to the show by supplying secure locker facilities to the event and introducing a ground-breaking driverless delivery solution.The collaboration between RENZ, the festival and the local university created these incredible delivery pods that are deigned to move to where the residents need them. Fully customised and designed in line with the right colours of the festival theme! They are secure, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing.PARCEL EXCHANGE PLATFORMThe great thing about the RENZ platform, is It can be used by all couriers and delivery services, meaning compete ease of access and efficiency – you can also coordinate the parcel solution to be used by local suppliers for an all-around complete turnkey parcel box solution.The parcelbox solution provided was an intelligent parcel delivery system meaning the items can be deposited and stored securely without the addressee being there in person. They can also be collected at the convivence of the recipient. You can access the box with a choice of an electronic tag, entering a unique PIN or using the myRENZbox mobile app. All options are user friendly and designed for a quick and easy retrieval of goods.MOBILE PHONE STORAGE & CHARGINGAn additional service that was supplied by RENZ were parcelbox lockers for the festival goers, these lockers came in a range of sixes so anything from mobile phones to pushchairs could be stored away in a secure location. This ensure that the residents and festival goers were all catered for.There were charging ports placed in the parcelbox lockers so visitors could ‘charge up’, securely while visiting the festival. You were given a unique pin to access the locker meaning it was completely secure to leave your personal belonging there to charge.

Washroom's Forza SGL lockers and Legato benches combine to create a colourful new changing area for an office cycle centre. The Forza lockers, fitted with key operated locks, were specified with doors in HPL using four different colours from Sonae to create the distinctive eye-catching design. The changing area also features freestanding island Legato bench units manufactured with solid grade laminate slats and back rest plus wall-mounted Legato benching units in the combined changing and shower cubicles. Washroom's Arpeggio Corian trough-style vanity in white feature inset square sinks, integrated waste bins and wall-mounted taps.

Scarborough Sports Village includes Prospec Marathon Classic range throughout, with cantilevered and double island bench seating in matching solid grade laminate. Prospec Marathon wet lockers, which include an aluminium carcass for wet areas, are a mixture of 1, 2, 3, and 4 tiers, and feature our new £1 coin return lock. Other products included within our installation would be our Marathon Classic fully framed cubicles, postformed solid grade laminate vanity units and grooming shelves, and floor to ceiling IPS (duct panel systems). This project also features our Disabled Access lockers which comply with Sport England recommendations.

Washroom delivered new washrooms, colourful staff shower facilities and two new reception for a Mayfair office refurb. Washroom's highly engineered Marcato SGL shower cubicles with full height bright yellow doors and light grey pilasters and partitions. Each spacious shower cubicle includes an integrated Legato bench in the same bright yellow. Forza solid grade laminate Z-shaped lockers with key-operated locks were specified in two shades of grey to create a striking stripe effect within each bank of lockers. Solid surface vanity units in a light grey concrete-effect finish with inset sinks complete the contemporary new changing area.

The challengeWith staff welfare high on the agenda, as well as exceeding good manufacturing practices for the food industry and the BRC standard, Single Source chose to improve their staffchanging facilities by investing in new personal lockers for their 114 employees.
