The goal was to create three 2-3 bedroom dwellings, a canal side café, commercial spaces for leisure companies, and a museum showcasing the canal's history and the lives of mill workers.ADDC Architects, renowned conservation experts, were entrusted with the task of designing the conversion. They skillfully worked around the intricate history of the original brick buildings, which had gone through multiple alterations and rebuilds in the 19th century. The architects aimed to preserve the unique character of the cottages while ensuring a functional layout suitable for their new purpose.The restoration process involved an incredible community effort, with local tradesmen, contractors, and volunteers coming together to bring the cottages back to life. The extensive work included clearing vegetation and debris, erecting scaffolding, reinforcing timbers, and salvaging original bricks and slates for rebuilding.One crucial aspect of the restoration was the installation of new timber windows. Gowercroft Joinery, a reputable local manufacturer with expertise in heritage and restoration projects, supplied the traditional Chatsworth sliding sash windows for the canal-facing elevations. These windows perfectly matched the original designs, featuring slim finger-jointed frames and Georgian styled glazing bars. At the rear, Hardwick casement windows were installed to maintain a utilitarian look consistent with the building's history.Crafted from solid Red Grandis hardwood, the windows offered both elegance and energy efficiency. The bespoke curved top casements faithfully reinstated, and Melbourne hardwood doors further enhanced the joinery and timber craftsmanship throughout the cottages.The restored Canal Cottages now stand as a symbol of the Trust's broader vision to revive the 13-mile canal and its surrounding areas. Once completed, the canal restoration will create a 25-mile cruising ring, connecting to thousands of miles of navigable waterways across the UK. It will provide opportunities for outdoor activities, such as angling, canoeing, and cycling while promoting wildlife conservation and improving the well-being of local residents.By being a part of this project, Gowercroft Joinery has not only contributed to the architectural heritage but also supported the revival of the Derby Canal, acting as a catalyst for regeneration in the city centre. In transforming the reception area of a modern and thriving school, we were tasked with ensuring the security of reception staff while also facilitating the seamless interactions with visitors and managing deliveries effectively.To address this multifaceted requirement, we proposed the implementation of our heavy duty bi-parting serving hatch window system. The goal for this residential dwelling in Salcombe was to create a completely unique space, nestled into the cliff-side to provide a feeling of comfort and seclusion, while maximising the views over the estuary. To achieve this, ten Reynaers aluminium lift-and-slide doors, alongside aluminium windows and single-entrance doors were installed. The aluminium frames provide the strength and stability required for large expanses of glazing, while delivering required pascal ratings to resolutely stand up to enduring winds and harsh coastal conditions. Pre-anodized paint adds further durability to protect the property from the elements.

We were approached to design & manufacture a range of steel fire-resistant riser doors and personnel doors for Europe's most advanced data centre, located in Canary Wharf, London.This 8-storey building offers 73,400 sqm of space - they needed simple yet secure riser doors to provide fire protection to the internal ducts, containing all the cabling and plumbing required in a sleek, discreet solution that provided maximum access, performance and safety.Alongside the riser doors, Eurobond designed & manufactured personnel doors that could be electronically controlled to control the access and provide an audit trail of personnel movement.The 2 key elements of this project were the riser doors - and the sheer volume required to cover the 8 levels and the access control requirements that had to be well planned and coordinated by Eurobond, the security contractor, end-user and architect.

The Sash Window Workshop were contacted to provide a quote to upgrade the timber windows for a customer's property in Hertfordshire.The sales surveyor met with the customer and provided them with a quotation for a mixture of complete new windows and installing new sashes into the existing frames.The customer proceeded in two separate orders, with work initially being carried out in the kitchen and dining room.The windows were made in Accoya wood, which comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee, and were double glazed and painted white.After the initial work was complete, the customer was very happy and decided to place an order for the remaining windows and two timber doors to be replaced.

Bygga Construction extended this magnificent London family home to include a master suite and guest wing. As part of the project the basement was dug out to create a massive family room, complete with wine cellar. Three Clement double steel door sets were included in the design for the rear elevation. Not only do these create a stunning feature but they allow plenty of natural light into the increased family living space.

Hannah Cecil-Harden is a director at de Gournay, a family business which was founded by her father, Claud Cecil Gurney. De Gournay makes the most beautiful hand-painted wallpapers and fabrics and the company’s work is found in some of the finest buildings around the world. As you would expect, every room of Hannah’s London home has been exquisitely decorated. The property has undergone many transformations in the time that Hannah has lived there, but the most recent changes were needed to accommodate her expanding family. Hannah and her husband wanted their house to work better for life with their four young children.All the floors of the house have been updated, but perhaps the biggest change was turning the existing basement into a playroom with adjoining utility and bathroom. Having worked with Hannah and the team at de Gournay on a previous project, Clement was delighted to be asked to manufacture the new steel doors that were included within the designs. We were excited that the new steel doors were to be painted in unique vibrant colours to match the stunning wallpapers that adorn the new space and we worked closely with Hannah and her team to find just the right match. We always say that our bespoke steel products can be painted in specialist hues from across the entire colour spectrum – these doors demonstrate what is possible!Hannah said: “I thoroughly enjoyed working with Clement Windows on this exciting project which was for a children’s playroom. The owners of this four storey, semi-detached, Victorian home have totally transformed it to create a wonderful, contemporary space, full of character, colour and texture.The works undertaken included the demolition of the existing lower ground conservatory and the construction of a full width rear extension. The new space provides a large kitchen, dining and sitting area, but also retains the connection to the front snug. A two storey extension was formed along the side return, providing a boot room and utility space on the lower ground level and a cloakroom and WC on the upper ground level. They were installed 22 years ago and are in need of a set of bottom door seals” The correspondence originates from Paul Cousens, the facility engineer stationed at the British Antarctic Survey Station situated in King Edward Point, South Georgia Island – renowned as the smallest capital in the world. Positioned in the remote expanse of the South Atlantic Ocean, South Georgia lies at the equivalent latitude as the southern tip of South America, Cape Horn, approximately 1350km east of the Falkland Islands.The station's main edifice features two bi-folding industrial Q doors, serving as vital shields against hurricane-force winds and corrosive saltwater. Throughout the frigid winters, a team of twelve individuals resides and operates within this isolated outpost. However, during the summer months, the population surges to around twenty inhabitants. TRC Windows have been appointed by Bournville Village Trust for the first phase of a six year planned works program to supply and install bespoke sash and casement windows to 46 properties in the Bournville Village estate.The rented dwellings in Bournville Village consist of bungalows, maisonettes, flats and family accommodation.The estate also features a variety of special needs housing particularly for the elderly and people with learning disabilities.Two areas of the estate have been declared conservation areas and there are a number of buildings of architectural interest and historical importance.Window profile & thermal performanceTo meet conservation requirements, window profiles will match the style, configuration and visual appearance of the existing windows (including glazing bars, horn detail, beading, etc).For each building, they will be be supplied and manufactured in preservative-treated softwood.The thermal performance of all windows and doors will meet the requirements of the Building Regulation Part L1B and have a minimum Window Energy rating of 1.4u-value.Measurement and surveyThe process will involve the removal of existing windows and doors where necessary and installation of the new timber frames and glazing.All equipment, scaffolding and materials employed to fix and seal the windows and doors inside and outside the dwelling will be in accordance with the BS 8213-4 specification for surveying and installation.In instances where the structural box frame is to remain, allowances will be made for minor repairs and redecoration.Narrow cavity glazing (A rated)Narrow cavity insulated glazing units (IGU) will be installed so as not to compromise energy-efficiency and authenticity.These units will meet the requirements of BS EN 1279 and be manufactured by a Kitemark or similar accredited manufacturer.

New York City’s newest boutique hotel makes a bold statement in upper midtown Manhattan, thanks in no small part to the extensive use of Crittall steel windows, doors and internal screens and partitions. The Whitby is the second in New York opened by Firmdale Hotels, whose owners have already made a big impression in central London use fenestration from Crittall. Opened in late February, The Whitby’s position called for higher acoustic attenuation, so Crittall MW40 fenestration was selected. These windows can accept up to 30mm thick glazing providing excellent acoustic as well as thermal performance while maximising daylight.

When leading beauty product franchise, MADI International, moved into its new international head office, Amtico Spacia Acoustic was chosen to add a warm and stylish feel to the building’s interior. In order to reflect the company’s ethos, the premises required flooring which was well designed, easy to clean and benefited from good acoustics. The latter was particularly important as, being a beauty business, MADI International experiences high footfall – including lots of high heeled and designer shoes.

No other material could have produced such an exquisite end result as steel for this project in Surrey. Clement were contacted by the owners who wished to replace all of their original steel windows and doors. Following careful consideration of what was available Clement's EB24 suite of steel windows was chosen. The stunning double doors benefit from the use of surface mounted cremone bolts instead of a usual lever locking mechanism which means the centre bar of steel is slim and elegant just like those of the outer frames.

Hampstead Garden Suburb, in north London, is internationally recognised as one of the finest examples of early twentieth century domestic architecture and town planning. It was designated as a Conservation Area in 1968, and the older part of the Suburb was designated a ‘Conservation Area of Outstanding Architectural or Historic Interest’ in 1977.Clement developed the Brooking range of steel windows as sensitive replacements for existing fenestration in the Suburb. The new windows look incredibly similar to the original windows and doors, but offer much improved specification. The owner of this wonderful, detached red brick home chose Clement to manufacture and install the new bespoke steel doors and windows. Fircroft House in Essex has been completely transformed from a tired 1980s detached property into a distinctive home with a contemporary edge.Renovated throughout, Fircroft House features a new ground floor extension, pale grey timber-effect external cladding (replacing a brick and render façade), and brand new Rationel alu-clad windows and doors. In fact, sixteen new windows are installed across the property, including opening and fixed units, two large sliding patio doors, and a solid, grooved front door flanked by glazed side lights and set beneath an arched portico. When planning the refurbishment of Fircroft House, window and door replacement was a project priority, as the original property had single glazed, leaded, all-timber windows which made the interior very dark and were thermally inefficient. All-aluminium glazing was initially considered because the homeowners wanted an affordable, durable and contemporary frame design which looked more attractive than uPVC. Just 100 metres away from the Royal Courts of Justice in London stands 188 Fleet Street, which until recently was the home of bankers Coutts & Co. The 35,000 sq ft building, purchased for £11 million, has been recently refurbished by HD Architects to house a publishing company. The renovated office benefits from a number of striking internal steel screens which feature throughout the office and contribute to the amount of natural daylight that filters through the space.

Slow moving sectional overhead doors were left open to allow speed of access which is vital to efficient deliveries but resulted in heat loss. The solution Seven large Speedor Storms seamlessly integrated with existing doors in a heavy traffic despatch area. The Speedor Storms allow quick and easy access to the openings whilst maintaining internal temperature with its fast open/close action. Due to the quality and longevity of Hart Speedors there is less stress and downtime fixing and replacing defective doors so productivity is unaffected. The success Following the successful installation of Speedor Storms at Amazon in 2016, Hart was chosen as a reliable and trusted supplier. Carlos Place in Mayfair, London, was originally developed by the Grosvenor family. Opulent number 14, also known as Mayfair House, was built by the Holloway Brothers in 1921 to the designs of Wimperis and Simpson. TRC Windows were commissioned by architects Derek Williams Ltd to design, supply and install 95 Heritage Box Sash Windows, casement windows and doors to closely match the original yet deliver modern thermal insulation. In total we used approximately 890 individual Slimlite double glazed units for the project, all in oak frames.

This fine house was built in the 1920s, one of its features was the unusual ‘chequerboard’ black and white design of the original windows. The clients wished to replicate this, which required selected opening windows to be powder coated in black so as to contrast against the white outer frames. A magnificent 24-pane bay window is a prime feature of the house and shows off this unique design. The clients chose windows from Clement’s EB24 range with rectangular leaded lights. To provide added security, all the windows and doors were fitted with Clement’s multi point locking system.

What a fantastic example of EB24 steel windows and doors as the main feature for a recent new build project! With character leaded lights used for the front of the property and clear glass at the back to maximise light and views over the landscaped garden.

We provided fire-rated doors, acoustic security doors, and radar-operated automation doors.Protection of data and people was key, along with minimal noise and easy yet secure access throughout the complex.

The canvas was auctioned to raise money for NHS charities and organisations, raising a total £16.8m.Part of these funds have been used to improve the facilities, and this is where Landscape Architects Strata Design and West End Construction were engaged, to design and build a rooftop oasis for all the hospital staff, to have a place to enjoy and unwind.Solution: Working collaboratively and having surveyed the site where a window was to be turned into a door, FAAC Entrance Solutions proposed a framed SL500 bi-parting sliding door, in order to both maximise the opening width as well as keep the natural light into the building. Being a staff restricted area, access control was also a must, so this was integrated with existing staff passes to facilitate swipe access and with our QFlow traffic light system which regulates occupancy. The SL500’s framed system is a robust resilient door, making it perfect to manage high volumes of traffic as well Southampton coastal wind loads. TRC was commissioned in December 2015 to begin a 34-month project to refurbish the 850 sash windows, over 40 pairs of French doors and 30 replacement identical sash windows so they perform to expectation in such a high-end building, while retaining their heritage characteristics. TRC also designed, supplied and installed over 200 new timber/aluminium composite windows for an additional new building in the grounds. This included design to the developer’s requirements; producing prototypes to obtain planning approval; production; and installation by TRC’s own employed team of professional window installers.
