J & P Building Systems
As with all balcony constructions, the issue of cold-bridging (also known as thermal-bridging) must be addressed and minimised to meet the required building standards - Part L of the Building regulations being of particular relevance.
The H-BAU ISOPRO® thermal insulation element from J&P solved this problem by providing structural connection between the internal concrete floor slab, and the external concrete (insitu, or precast) balcony, whilst creating a thermal break to minimise cold-bridging.
The Dream - Precast Concrete Sculpture
J & P Building Systems
The Dream is a 20m precast concrete sculpture on the site of the old Sutton Manor Colliery near St. Helens in Lancashire. Created by world-renowned Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, it serves as a memorial to the miners who worked at the site.
Because of the sculpture’s exposure to winds of up to 45m/s, all of the elements were connected to form a single monolithic structure. The design required a connection force of 200kN between adjacent elements, both horizontally and vertically.
J&P was approached to deliver because of the company’s expertise in working with precast concrete.

Kier commissioned us to provide healthcare furniture to the value of £120,000 across this new facility.The furniture we manufactured has been installed across many areas of this new facility, including: dirty utility, prep/anaesthetic area, cardiac CT scanner room, ultrasound, 1st & 2nd stage recover, paediatric waiting, radiology reporting and clinical admin office. Our Healthline range of furniture was chosen for this installation, with worktops in colour G075 Gris Centre, handles in chrome and carcases in white.

Carreg Hir is an amalgamation of 3 existing primary schools from the Briton Ferry area. Now a two form entry school for 420 pupils, with a 30 place nursery. Julian Davies, Principal Architectural Manager at Neath Port Talbot Council, chose Bushboard Washrooms to supply the school toilet cubicles as we were able to achieve the full specification required for the entire project. We have been selected by architects IBI Group and construction group, Tilbury Douglas, to manufacture and install healthcare furniture for a project improving the obstetric and neonatal facilities at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen. The furniture contract is for the value of £100,000.The contract win follows the Welsh Government’s £25.2 million investment into the obstetric and neonatal facilities at Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Glangwili Hospital as part of its Design For Life Framework. The project is divided into 4 phases: Phase 1 of the project has already been completed, Phase 2 is underway at present and the entire project should be completed by early 2023.David Bailey has a strong presence in Wales and we had recently carried out some successful, substantial contracts there, as part of notable projects in the area, that had come to the attention of Interserve.
