With more than 1,500 units, Shurgard Greenwich is one of the largest self-storage facilities in Europe. Spread over four floors the facility provides dry, clean and secure self-storage in a secure facility, and the building also achieved an BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.Around 3,000m2 of Trimapanel® flat insulated panels manufactured using Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® pre-finished steel was used to clad the external face of the Greenwich Shurgard unit, meeting all the clients requirements and complying with current Building Regulation standards.Tata Steel also supplied 3,000m2 of ComFlor® 60 floor decking, used throughout the facility and installed by Composite Profiles.

This asbestos cement roof in Norwich was soiled with moss and lichen covering the surface and had leaks in several places. Liquasil's BBA Approved Asbestoseal 20 asbestos roof coating was specified to extend the life of the roof and provide an aesthetically pleasing finish. The Contractor, ID Asbestos Ltd, carried out the works safely and efficiently.After being steam cleaned, the metal fixings were treated with our SWT Corrosion Primer and all fixings and cracks were sealer with Non-Sag Sealer. The whole roof was then coated with Asbestoseal 20 to provide a sleek new finish to the old asbestos sheets.Liquasil's Latent Defects Insurance Guarantee was provided upon completion.

April 2017 and the future looked bleak for a fire-engulfed net repair factory on the small island of Scalpay. Fire crews from Scalpay, Tarbert, Leverburgh and Stornaway rushed to the scene, as the massive blaze took hold of the facility and the roof looked in danger of collapse. They deployed high pressure hoses to douse the conflagration.Opened in 2008, the factory employed 14 staff and had been used to clean, repair and apply treatment to salmon farming nets. The Norwegian owned operators of the Net Services Scotland site faced an uphill struggle to get the site back up and running again. Hampered by the remote location of the Outer Hebrides and its distance from the mainland.

Even though the cost of stainless steel sanitaryware can be significantly higher than alternatives, initially. However, when service life, maintenance issues and facilities out of service are taken into account, this cost can very soon be outweighed.

With the aim of making a somewhat dated house welcoming and comfortable for a young family from Vilnius, the architect Ieva Prunskaitė of the Prusta studio redesigned the interior. The minimal, clean design combines functionality with beauty. Its focus is on simple lines and light spaces, devoid of clutter. Wood, plaster and cement are the three elements that are used throughout the house.The predominantly white walls with ECLISSE Syntesis Flush Hinged white doors contrast beautifully with the wooden flooring. There are also wooden accents across the white kitchen cabinets and wooden panelling defining storage areas and a cloakroom between the main door and the living room.The interior is also interspersed with accents of grey and black in the form of the black marble worktop and black chairs in the kitchen, the minimalist wood burning stove, grey accent wall and grey sofa in the sitting room and a decorative black metal screen with a geometric design separating the master bedroom with the ensuite.The minimalist style of the ECLISSE Syntesis Flush Hinged doors integrate perfectly into this interior being almost invisible, whilst being accented with sleek black handles echoing the colour scheme throughout.The ECLISSE Syntesis® Flush Hinged Door is part of the Syntesis® Flush Collection. PROJECT OVERVIEWThe project comprised the design, manufacture, supply and installation of a new 8000m2 footprint of a highly specified Packing Facility. The brief was to provide nine GMP Grade D packing cells, each of which required strict temperature, humidity and pressure control to enable primary packing of pharmaceuticals in a clean environment with no risk of contamination. Each of these Primary Packing cells connects to a common, secondary packing area. OUR SCOPE OF WORK To meet the project specification and environmental requirements, Norwood proposed our 100mm Mediline Partition. Following a rigorous selection process, our solution was a preferred option over four alternative systems. Working closely with the client’s team and the main contractor, we designed and developed bespoke solutions such as Flush Coving, Fire Rated Vision Panels, Bulkheads and Half Height partitioning. Cleanability has been ensured through the hygienic finish of the partition panels and, in particular, by incorporating recessed radiused coving at ceiling to wall joints providing a smooth clean finish throughout the room. Our innovative acoustic ceiling combines hygienic, wipeable, sound absorbing materials and cleanroom grade panels which not only reduce environmental noise levels but also provide cleanable airtight surfaces. Within the open plan secondary area, partial height glazed partitioning was employed. The facility was built with future adaptability in mind and the possibility of increasing the cleanrooms to Grade C, therefore the Norwood Flush Coving was utilised in the spinal corridor and primary cells. Supplying over 7000m2 of ceilings and 6000m2 of partitioning, this was one of Norwood’s largest projects, delivered to an extremely challenging programme.

It became clear that for Holy Name Medical Centre to continue providing its patients with crucial life-saving care, their existing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) space would need to undergo an essential update.Approach“Our ICU was built in the 1960s and was in need of an upgrade,” stated Melissa Candela, Holy Name Medical Centre’s Manager of Design and Construction. “Our experience at the epicentre of New Jersey’s outbreak triggered an action plan to transition the outdated space to a unit with the highest technology, safety, and design standards, in addition to strong functionality.” The design of the unit needed to prioritise interiors that could endure frequent cleaning and disinfecting routines while helping to create a design-oriented space with a patient focus.SolutionHoly Name Medical Centre selected Altro Whiterock White and the decorative Altro Whiterock wall designs throughout the ICU to create a high design, hygienic space for patient treatment. Altro Whiterock is a hygienic walls system, providing smooth impact-resistant surfaces and leaving dirt and bacteria nowhere to hide. This is especially practical in the case of Holy Name Medical Centre’s ICU, where thorough cleaning is vital in promoting the safety of patients and staff alike. Bespoke, complex seating for Thomas More Square, London

BDP approached Furnitubes with a concept seating design for the redevelopment of Thomas More Square. The designs were characterised by a complex arrangement of intersecting angled planes to fit into dedicated alcoves in the raised planters. From this concept Furnitubes designers developed the complex geometry by 3d modelling each of the 6 unique seating structures, and a complementary large scale wall-top platform. Seating was used in mirrored pairs either side of the main walkway and included flat benches, and seats with single plane and compound angle backrests, all custom-designed and made to fit the challenging levels of the site.

In addition to Sovent, Geberit Silent-db20, a waste water pipe with built in sound insulation, was installed to ensure peace and quiet for the hotel’s guests, Geberit Mapress press-fit pipe system provides general plumbing and Geberit HDPE; a long-lasting pipe with low environmental impact; delivers above-ground drainage. Plumbing systems were specified and installed by Sharpe Mechanical Services.

Howe Green’s 5000 Series access covers were chosen by interior specialists, Tekne Shopfitting Limited to provide access in The Tramshed, a Grade II listed building in London.
The aluminium access covers were selected to provide a reliable route to essential underfloor building services in the Tramshed’s public washrooms and busy kitchens.
Ensuring an excellent aesthetic finish, Tekne fitted four covers and inlaid each frame with resin flooring to match the surrounding area.
The covers were double-sealed for use over foul drainage, with a third seal fitted to help prevent the ingress of dirt.

SAS330i LED noggin lights were selected to provide a seamless butt-joint solution between panels and gridwork. This effect ensures there are no gaps between light and ceiling. Manufactured from extruded aluminum profiles, each light was polyester powder-coated at SAS’s factory to ensure flawless colour consistency across the space.
Delivering a complex fit-out on time and to specification, SAS delivered a striking feature ceiling that has transformed the office space for the client.

Alumasc Rainwater’s range fitted perfectly in this setting. Painted Cast Iron and Heritage Cast Aluminium were specified by Latitude Architects.“The main objective was to provide and produce material as close to the original,” says Alumasc Rainwater. “Bespoke castellated guttering was installed with special curled ear belts to secure the pipes. Together they provided an exact replication of style to the original. We also custom-made guttering that was designed to fit at a specific angle and level of the building.”

BAM construction approached Planet to supply and install interior glass partitioning as part of a Category B fit-out of Network Rail's new HQ.
To ensure outstanding sound attenuation, we fitted p100 double glazed partitioning and IsoClear glass doors. To ensure time and cost efficiency, our design team worked with BAM and GMW Architects to ensure the right choice of standard deflection heads and allow for +/- 25mm movement rather than designing and manufacturing a multitude of bespoke deflection heads.
We also installed p20 single glazed demountable partitioning for a range if brightly coloured 'eco cabins' dotted throughout the building.

Powdertech Wood Finish (Roughwood R047) is being used for a prestigious sustainable logistics development in Milton Keynes, built by Glencar Construction for client Baytree Logistics, a pan-European company. BREEAM has specified the development scheme as “Excellent”. It is also “WELL” ready – the WELL Building Standard is the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on sustainability, human health and wellbeing. The building, on a 10.4-acre site at Fenny Lock, will feature the latest in technology-enabled sustainable design features providing an environment beneficial to the health and wellbeing of the building users. Wherever possible, “Cradle to Cradle” (circular economy) principles have been adopted meaning that materials used can be repurposed in the future, being returned into the construction cycle for re-manufacture with no detriment to quality.The Benefits of Powdertech Wood FinishWood Finish on aluminium fits this approach perfectly. Aluminium itself is endlessly recyclable and our powder coatings do not affect the process. The finish can be removed, and the metal returned to its original bare state. Powder coatings are also free of VOCs, halogens and heavy metals – all compounds which are damaging to health. We are very pleased that the sustainability of Wood Finish on aluminium, and the ‘clean’ qualities of the product have been recognised as such. It is also the case that the use of Wood Finish on external features is in harmony with the aesthetics of the building design.Wellbeing for people and planetRoof garden terraces, and onsite water attenuation form part of a sustainable drainage system which includes harvesting of rainwater for re-use on site. Wood Finish in Roughwood shade R047 has been used to coat eleven enormous aluminium drainpipes which form part of this scheme; they stand 13m high with a 600mm x 600mm top section tapering to 150mm square at the ground. The scheme also includes outdoor gyms and training areas, edible vegetation and reclaimed timber seating. Internally, sensors constantly monitor air and water quality.Baytree intend that this should be one of the most sustainable logistics developments ever built in the UK and we are very excited to be a part of this ambition.

The development is home to 165 luxury apartments and penthouses set amongst striking architecture, offering unrivalled views across the city of London.Landmark Place is a residence that truly pushes the boundaries of residential facilities, which include 24-hour concierge services, a 20-metre indoor pool, spa, fitness suite, underground parking, cinema, lounge and business suite.The residence is closely located to the underground, overground, rail and river services for quick access to the whole of London, and is perfectly located just moments from London’s financial centre.The Safety Letterbox Company worked with the design team at Barratt London to manufacture a product that met both the style and mail delivery requirements on the project.THE PRODUCTBarratt London required 165 mailboxes that would form a mailroom area situated close to the reception lobby area in the project. The model of mailbox used was the classic COM 2 product which was recessed into the wall. Wall recessed mailboxes are extremely popular in this type of development as they maximise the available space in the area of installation and ensure that all health and safety requirements are achieved in the project walkways.Each mailbox has been number engraved in a contrasting silver infilled colour, allowing both mail delivery personnel and quickly identify which mailbox it is that they need to use. The mailbox engraving correlates to the apartment number of the residents.The COM 2 mailboxes used have been finished in a non-standard IGP Dura colour which was specified by the design team at Barratt London to meet the style requirements of the project. Running around the mailboxes is a surround trim, which provides a clean finish between the mailboxes and the installation wall.All mailboxes use an upgraded locks featuring a matt black finish. The contrasting matt black locks match other hardware on the project such as lighting components and door trims. Albion Works, Manchester
K Systems Insulated Facades
BackgroundLocated in the Ancoats area of Manchester, the Albion Works strip and re-fit project was funded by the Building Safety Fund, a Government Fund to remove unsafe non-ACM cladding on residential and mixed-use properties that are 18 metres and over and do not meet building safety regulations.K Systems Approved Installer QFF Façades were contracted to complete the exterior wall insulation and rendering of the 8-storey residential building.The original 60mm EPS system was stripped from the building and replaced with a safe, thermally efficient façade solution, which upgraded the fire performance of the cladding, ensuring the safety of both the building and residents.Our ServiceK Systems provided support throughout the application process for this Building Safety Fund project. The Technical team offered on-site technical and installation support throughout the build process and supported QFF to ensure quality and reliability.We produced a bespoke specification and worked closely with Thomason Consulting and QFF Façades to agree and deliver specifics such as fire stopping and abutment details.From design advice through to installation, we offered a partnership approach which aided a smooth installation process with minimal disruption.Technical Project DetailsThe original sheathing boards were replaced, and the K Systems Exicco M drained cavity façade system was installed. This high performing drained cavity system was specified as a requirement for this steel frame residential building. 60mm mineral wool insulation was specified to retain the line of the existing façade.Fire safety with high rise buildings like Albion Works is of utmost importance and this solution generates high levels of fire resistance and non-combustibility (A2, s1-d0 rating), meaning the latest building regulations were complied with. Additionally, the thermal performance of the building improved with a U-value of 0.28 W/m²K being achieved. Residents will therefore enjoy reduced heating costs and better living conditions.For the finish, silicone thin coat render ensured that aesthetically Albion Works had a clean, crisp attractive appearance. This durable, low maintenance render transformed the outside of the building and will ensure a longlasting finish to the property.
