As much as they loved their house as it was, they finally made the decision to redevelop mostly the back of the house. This renovation included not only a bespoke rectangular rooflight, but also custom made blinds which perfectly fit the roof window.Brightening up a 1930’s home with natural lightingA house built in the ‘30’s isn’t usually the brightest of homes. These houses often come with few or small windows which don’t allow natural lighting to fully penetrate a room, causing dark spots and corners all around the house. This is why Graham and his family wanted natural daylight to be a focal point in the renovation of their mid-century home, saying “Light was really important to make an area spacious and airy.”. They sure lit up the place by choosing one of the biggest singular bespoke rooflights in the size 3000 mm by 1000 mm.The perks of a big custom Vario by Velux skylightBecause the Gray family opted for such a big rectangular skylight, it let in a bunch of light. The City of Culture of Galicia is one of the most ambitious projects of contemporary architecture in Galicia . Architects Peter Eisenman and Antonio Marono work as a team on this project inspired by the historic center of Santiago de Compostela and the five pilgrimage routes of the famous Camino de Santiago . The complex brings together several buildings that will host museums, exhibition halls, libraries, government offices, co -creation spaces, and meeting rooms . The project has a common element : the large glazed surfaces on the façade, where Bandalux vertical and roller blinds act as a light blockers, providing greater privacy for users . Our products also protect efficiently from intense sunlight, filtering and regulating light according to the needs at any moment of the day . Polyscreen ® fabric is used for its antibacterial properties and easy cleaning . 

The Coopers FireMaster®, closed rectangular Concertina fire curtain is a perfect solution when requiring fire compartmentation around a staircase as it offers a virtual firewall creating a lobby once the curtain has been deployed with more than 2 hours integrity. The innovative Concertina fire curtain installed at Aldgate Tower fully encapsulates the staircase from the 11th to the 12th floor in the event of a fire. The curtain is triggered by either the fire alarm system or a local heat or smoke sensor and is automatically deployed from the ceiling to the floor.

In the development of the fenestration and curtain wall systems for Great Marlborough Street Reynaers worked closely with envelope contractors Baris Facades in order to develop no fewer than 6 bespoke cap profiles. One ensured that the insulated aluminium panels, which are a feature of the building, glazed flush with the curtain wall cap profiles. Another feature of Students Castle is the distinctive protruding box detail around the windows of the towers headed by aluminium louvre panels accommodated by bespoke capping. Further bespoke elements facilitate the omission of mullions on certain window positions, as part of the distinctive design.

Coopers were commissioned to design and manufacture a bespoke curtain barrier system that, in the event of fire, would guard against smoke penetrating the upper floors of the store. Through regional partner Souchie, Coopers installed a series of Smoke Stop™ vertical smoke curtains above each escalator specifically designed to protect the means of escape for customers, whilst at the same time dramatically reduce the transmission throughout the building of life threatening gases generated by fire.

Casa OM is part of an innovative design part of the houses JIA, developed by the architect Gabriel Gomera . The concept aims to re -connect people with nature thanks to sensible and smart architecture, using a modular system . Our BSO, or outdoor Venetians blinds , provide optimal sunlight management and complement the large glazed surfaces thanks to their complete integration in the façade . The rustproof materials are designed for durability, safety in harsh weather and resilience through time . It also promotes efficiency, flexibility but also, comfort and well -being spaces 

Compartmentation, Protected Means of Escape and Boundary Protection were all required as part of the fire safety solutions and therefore Coopers FireMaster fire curtains and Coopers FireMaster Plus2 fire curtains were installed to ensure the fire safety requirements were met. In total, 113 fire curtains were installed, 96 with round headboxes and 17 with square headboxes. Round headboxes were engineered for The British Museum as a request from the architects. The headboxes of the fire curtains were going to be seen by the occupants so Coopers engineered a round headbox that looked in keeping with the design of the building.

To link the old structure and the new one was the main challenge to this project . As a result , the extension is a minimal and curvy volumen which adapts itself to the existing building . Our vertical blinds have been chosen because of their high versatility , adapting themselves perfectly to the curvy openings of the new façade . Coopers solution was to install over 100 SmokeStop smoke curtain barriers. Concealed within the ceiling voids of each of the 39 floors, the SmokeStop smoke curtain barriers were developed to deploy in the event of fire, channelling smoke away from occupant and out of the building. This effective strategy for containing and channelling smoke would ensure that Gherkin’s 41 floors were protected from filling with smoke and provide occupants with a safe means of escape.

From the Tower of London to The Royal Palaces, Coopers is trusted to install fire and smoke curtains barriers for some of the world’s most iconic heritage buildings. With this knowledge, appointed architects Arrol & Snell assigned Coopers to develop a system that would help protect the cathedral’s Undercroft and Treasury from smoke migration in the event of a fire. The smoke barrier system had to allow visitors to exit the Undercroft and Treasury safely, whilst preventing smoke from entering the main body of the cathedral, but any system had to be sympathetic to its unique and ancient architecture.

Ultrascape's BS 7533 compliant mortar paving system has been used to deliver a modern and stylish forecourt outside Swindon railway station. The redevelopment has transformed what was previously a heavy traffic dominated area, into a prestigious pedestrian focused arrival space which features seating, planting, lighting and a millennium clock. Work was carried out by specialist civil engineering contractor, Britannia Construction and included the installation of 500 tonnes of high quality natural granite and Pennant Sandstone using Ultrascape's Pro-Bed HS fine bedding concrete, Flowpoint rapid setting grout and Pro-Prime slurry primer.

This unique house was built in Thorpeness, in Suffolk. The whole ground floor walls are made out of glass. This gave Silent Gliss an unique opportunity to help design the new building with its quality blinds and curtain tracks.

The project includes two buildings : offices, a company restaurant, and a car park . To get visual and thermal confort in a all spaces , it had been installed more tan 938 Signum Bandalux aluminium venetian blinds . CASE: Concealed top-down Honeycell Duette® blinds in blackout material.

Minimalist architecture and flexible design define the style of Casa Po, located in the Morobbia Valley. The architects designed the house with a principle of terraces, inspired by the historical vines and the mountain views.The top one is covered by a “regular, definitive and white roof, which covers the living area completely open to the panorama and orientated towards the light”, according to the architects.In this context, our O-Box roller blinds, located outdoors, help to create extra-outdoor spaces around the house. A type of in-between space is created when the shades are closed. Also, cable lateral guides allow an efficient operation and contribute to the sober aesthetic of Casa Po.O-Box system drops off the white rooftop as a key element in the project. 

The Cabin is a stunning residential project in West Wales.Featuring motorised roller blinds, motorised curtain tracks and specialist tensioned rooflight blinds, this project has a little bit of everything when it comes to shading.Being as this was one of the most aesthetically pleasing projects we have ever worked on, it was vital that the shading provided functionality and style simultaneously. Umbra's' wide range of hardware options and powder coating services meant that the blinds and curtains could fit both the interior design style and the stunning scenery flawlessly.Being a modern style, it was absolutely vital that the shading solutions were smart home compatible. Every blind that Umbra fitted was controllable via a smartphone app. This meant that the home owner had complete control over the blinds directly from their phone. With the ability to set scenes, create automatic schedules, and make use of various sensors, (including light, weather and presence detectors) to gain fully autonomous control over their shading.Another unique challenge that the project posed was that of temperature control. The project had the dual challenge of large glazed windows and a costal location, (meaning the weather has the capability to go from scorching heat to vicious gales at the drop of a hat). Specialist fabrics were selected from Umbra's very own fabric range to provide optimal heat gain and loss control.All of these factors came together in perfect harmony to create one of the most visually pleasing and functionally robust projects Umbra have completed to date.

Swedish Luxury Home prepared for concealed blinds in every window. Amazing level of detail everywhere from bespoke flooring up to the top floor ceiling via floating staircase.The property developer wanted to future-proof the house with Blindspace so potential future needs for privacy or shading would not impact on the clean design.

The project is a loft located in Columella street in the northeast of Milan as part of 25 lofts forming the residential complex by modifying a former industrial structure.To cover its double high windows, our B-Box roller blinds are positioned on the exterior for maximum comfort and sunlight protection. They manage to provide human scale to the spaces by combining technology and functionality.The same system is used with two types of guidance. The lateral cable guide is configured with Polyscreen ® 473 in bright orange color in contrast with the planted spaces for excellent thermal protection and light textile appearance. To get better intimacy, B-Box is also configured with aluminium guides U302 and Trend Light Blackout. Those two different uses complete the inhabitant’s needs of Loft Columella.

The existing ornate and decorative features of the hotel, meant that the fire curtains needed to integrate with the existing parts of the building that were remaining. This included a four sided, marble clad atrium in one of the main entrance halls, which covers two floors. There were four fire curtains installed around the first floor of the atrium therefore reinstating fire separation between floors. Fire curtains offering up to 3 hours fire resistance were also installed in the new hotel kitchens, preventing fire from spreading from kitchen areas to the public dining rooms and bar.

Designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates Architects, the 31 storey 25 Bank Street was completed in 2003. Originally the European headquarters of Lehman Brothers until their insolvency, it was then acquired by JP Morgan in 2010.InterLace designed, manufactured and installed luxury sheer and blackout curtains to boardrooms and executive suites along with electric curtain tracks. Offices have new, and also refurbished existing blinds throughout.

Fitzroy Place is a regeneration of the former Middlesex Hospital, making a collection of beautiful homes arranged around a stunning landscaped square in the heart of Fitzrovia, a prime area which has long been one of central London’s most cherished neighbourhoods.InterLace designed, manufactured and installed roller blinds to more than 230 luxury apartments along with specialist electric blinds and curtain tracks to the four exclusive penthouses atop the development.

Awarded Europe Luxury 2013 by World Luxury Hotel Awards, this 5* hotel right in the centre of Istanbul on the European banks of the Bosphorus. A complex project with 92 rooms being installed with motorised Silent Gliss curtain tracks and a further 12 motorised Silent Gliss Venetian blinds.

The Conduit is an existing client of Caribbean Blinds having used our louvered pergolas at their previous club in Mayfair in 2018. Knowing both the benefits of installing louvered pergolas, providing flexible shade and shelter allowing the terrace to be used all year round, therefore providing an important revenue stream for the business along with a unique dining experience for their discerning members along with the service we offer, the Conduit wanted to replicate this at their new club in Covent Garden, albeit on a much larger scale.The new roof terrace, which was on the 7th floor, had a footprint of approx. 300sq/m. The client wanted to cover 2/3rds of this with pergolas, leaving the remaining 1/3rd completely open. The model was to be our Prestige Pod, which they had previously installed, where the louvered roof not only rotates but fully retracts and when closed is completely watertight. A total cluster of 8 modules were required to cover a surface area of c. 200sq/m. The perimeter edges were equipped with screens to offer protection from the elements to the sides. Additionally screens were inserted along with doorways between certain modules so areas could be zoned off for events and private functions. Each module had infra-red heating and festoon lighting installed to create a cosy and pleasant environment year round.A project of this size, requires clear communication, co-ordination and planning. We worked closely with the architect, designer, contractor and end client at every stage, to ensure a seamless process and journey. Site meetings were held with all parties. Full CAD drawings of the structures, positioning and importantly drainage, wiring and post mounting plate positions, which were highly critical as a steel sub frame had to be fabricated and installed and services run were provided. A dedicated project co-ordinator oversaw the entire project to ensure it run smoothly and on-time and in-budget.Like all roof terrace installations there were many challenges, from working at height to access with a road closure required for this project to allow craning of the goods to the terrace. Manufacture from order sign off for the bespoke pergolas was just 12 weeks, with installation taking 2 weeks, via our own trained teams and all in time for a VIP client 4th July party.Anthony Pollak, Facilities Director for The Conduit commented:“Having had a Caribbean blind pergola installation at our previous property we knew the quality of their products.When the opportunity came from our landlord to give us a substantial area to build a roof terrace we knew that we had to include Caribbean Blinds within the design.Installing the Caribbean Blinds pergolas has enabled us to use our roof terrace all year around. Maidenhead was a cliché of uninspired and unremarkable buildings until Sainsbury’s embarked on a major redevelopment scheme. The supermarket now forms the base of a major new building, with five floors of car parking which are embraced by an outer layer of flats. Reynaers’ CW 50-SC glazing follows the building’s curve and works without clumsy capping on the outside. The flats were fitted with Reynaers’ CS 68 system which was chosen for its high performance and good insulation values. The project shows the flexibility of a varied architectural approach to which Reynaers products can provide robust solutions.

These elements flawlessly enhance the contemporary design of the Blind Veterans UK Centre in Rustington, West Sussex.The new centre is an example of the effectiveness of using aluminium as a building material. The transformation has resulted in an accessible facility that promotes confidence, independence, and the well-being of its residents.County Gutters surveyed the former home of the RAF Benevolent Fund before sending measurements and drawings to our CAD team.Joe Wheatley of County Gutters worked closely with CAD Design Engineer Reece Mooney to ensure the designs were feasible and achievable. Their combined expertise successfully brought the architects' vision to life.Using high-quality marine-grade powder coating in colours such as Chartwell green, traffic white, and mid-grey, the finished product is visually striking and highly durable.The aluminium fabrications are strong and non-corrosive and require minimal maintenance, making them an ideal choice for a busy facility like the Blind Veterans UK Centre.The ARP team designed, manufactured and finished production in just a few weeks, with installation starting four weeks after receiving the order from County Gutters. We zone in on the complete wetroom solution provided for the Lalit Hotel one of Schlüter-Systems’ grandest projects of 2016/17 and finalist in the ‘Listed Building (Over £5 million)’ category of the AJ Retrofit Awards 2017. The conversion project took the historic Grade II listed building previously known as St Olave’s Grammar School, located at Bankside in London, and transformed it into a luxury 70-room boutique hotel that fuses the best of Indian and British culture. Lalit London is the 13th hotel of the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, and the first based outside of India.

Whilst certainly not the most iconic or largest project the A1S Group has ever been involved with, 125 Deansgate in Manchester in many ways represents for us "a bread and butter project", the like of which we are involved with throughout the UK on an almost monthly basis. Despite the doom and gloom of office rationalisation during the pandemic, high end office new build and cat A and B refurbishment continues to be one of our strongest sectors. We have completed literally hundreds of office projects over the last decade including We Work premises throughout London and the UK, Goldmann Sachs, Barclays at Canary Wharf and Norfolk House in St James Square, London. Fire and smoke curtains continue to be integral to modern office design, allowing for more open spaces within the building's wider fire strategy framework. The A1S Group manufactured, installed 54 Flameshield fire curtains, all with smoke seals and multi function panels. For us, the 125 Deansgate building was noteworthy as it was the first time that we installed our high performance Flameshield EW120 fire curtain to provide a minimum of EW90 compartmentation. We also manufactured and installed our a Flameshield fire and smoke curtain system to provide 120 minutes integrity and 15 kw/m2 to protect the lift and lift shaft. This striking building is clad in a rich red terracotta with 12 storeys of flexible office and retail space all achieving BREEAM 'excellent' and is now considered one of Manchester's premier offices. The A1S Group have a long term planned preventative maintenance in schedule in place to comply with the 2005 Regulatory Reform Order.

Coopers installed FireMaster fire curtains with smoke control over the lift door openings on each of the ground and upper seven floors and two on the basement so a total of forty eight curtains. An important part of the design of the building on the ground and first floor was to subtly integrate the fire curtain headbox and side guides into the lift opening.

When a blind company was tasked with replacing the electric blinds in a popular highstreet noodle restaurant chain in St Albans, they knew they could depend on Yewdale. They chose YewdaleDefiant® C27 electric cassettes with five blinds in Light Grey 1% Roe fabric. They also specified a fascia that could cover the entire length with three blinds on one barrel, saving the installation of three individual cassettes in one, large window.
