ASF worked with AECOM and Barhale Construction for the new fish pass and viewing platform at Mid Calder, Livingstone. A standard base plate version of the ASF Buckden 2 Rail post was used, manufactured in 100% recycled cast iron, for the fish pass itself offering a safety barrier for Scottish Water and fish pass technicians when accessing the riverside area. A bespoke version of the posts were manufactured for the viewing platform that were supplied as a panel post with vertical infill bars so that the public can view the fish pass. A matching lockable gate with vertical infill was also manufactured to link the viewing platform and the fish pass itself.

On this office refurbishment the original windows were non-thermally broken aluminium and for that reason not suitable for a residential tenancy.With the windows being on the 12th floor it would have been extremely difficult and expensive to replace them - due to scaffolding etc. Therefore, after a recommendation, the client decided to source Incarnation secondary glazing.As an office refurbishment in a busy built-up area, noise reduction was a key consideration. Using a hidden coupling bar between two units was a key feature, allowing the secondary glazing to match the sightlines of the original windows perfectly. By installing the secondary glazing with an air gap of 150mm between it and the existing window resulted in an impressive decibel reduction.

Bauder achieved this by specifying a wildflower, biodiverse roof. This consisted of a substrate-based system with Bauder WB native wildflower blanket. The blanket is a mix of British native plants which mirror the surrounding meadows, providing valuable ecological habitats for a mixture of wildlife.

Throughout its long history, Donington Park has seen a number of refurbishments and renovations to maintain its pole position amongst the top race tracks in Britain and across the world. Now owned and operated by the prestigious MotorSport Vision (MSV) Group, Donington Park has benefited tremendously from huge investment in recent months to update and enhance the venue in line with MSV’s other circuits. Having previously worked with Tarkett on other projects, MSV was keen to rekindle its partnership when it came to choosing a high quality flooring solution for its new restaurant at Donington Park.

Thermal and acoustic insulation secondary glazing was installed by Selectaglaze for the National Trust as part of a full-scale refurbishment at the Grade I Listed Belton House stable block in Grantham, Lincolnshire, which has been converted into restaurant and office space. Selectaglaze Series 10 horizontal sliders were specified for 24 of the original leaded windows in the offices, and meeting rooms. Custom made timber grounds were affixed to all the openings which were splayed or out of shape. As a result of the installation, thermal efficiency has improved considerably, with the added benefit of increased acoustic insulation.

Westquay is an 800,000 square feet shopping centre spread over four levels and containing 150 retail units and restaurants. Furnitubes’ RailRoad range suited this site perfectly, allowing seating and planter modules to be joined and therefore be sufficiently heavy and stable to be used freestanding (so avoiding the need for intrusive foundations). Seating has been provided for up to 20 people, and 12 new planters introduce greenery to this previously somewhat austere building facade, creating an attractive setting for Westquay visitors to stop, rest for a moment and enjoy the outdoors on their walk between the car park and shopping centre.

O1A Architects oversaw the conversion of a former Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Islington into two luxury town houses with roof gardens and many unique features. O1A chose DRU Metro 100XT/2 corner gas fires for the main living areas in the properties. They utilise the balanced flue system to be flexibly located anywhere in the building without the need for a chimney. False chimneybreasts have been created in each property to house the impressive log-effect fireplaces. They also accommodate the flat screen TVs making perfect focal points and conceal the concentric flues, which exit the building through the roof.

The Hohenklingen Burg or castle is a landmark perched about 200 meters above the small, picturesque town of Stein am Rhein in Switzerland. This Grade II listed building was first opened in 1858 by Mayor Mackie of Manchester as part of the Smithfield fresh produce market but it remained empty and neglected for years until recently restored to its’ former glory. In addition to the large seating area in the main restaurant hall, a rear external annex was created with a glass roof in keeping with the building’s semi-industrial heritage. Bolton Gate Company were commissioned to design, manufacture and install collapsible gates with special removable bottom tracks to accommodate the sloping floor level to seal off this area when outside trading hours.

Historically this site was used to store coal (London’s only available energy source at the time), On the discovery of electricity the use of coal was challenged and electricity prevailed driving the coal sheds into deterioration. One of the most recognisable buildings in Keynsham, UK has been given a new lease of life which includes a number of new restaurants, a cinema, spa and swimming pool alongside over 55's living accommodation. The former Fry's chocolate factory was built in the 1920s, and it later became home to Cadbury. After a £60million investment, St Monica Trust has converted the iconic former Cadbury's chocolate factory into 151 assisted living apartments and a 90-bed nursing care home was project managed by the Andrew Wilson Partnership, with architects KWL of South Wales, and AWW of Bristol.

The British Museum opened its doors in 1759. Now home to some 8 million works from a number of different cultures, the museum stands as an iconic London attraction. The Museum made the decision in November 2013 to replace the restaurant’s old flooring, as it could no longer handle the vast number of visitors.
