Offering 100% contactless access to boiling water, the Instanta Sureflow Touch Free Boiler enables staff to fill their mugs by simply hovering their hand over the clever infrared sensor. Project: Solina observation tower and gondola stationClient: PKL and PFR GroupsThe Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, hailed the opening of a new observation tower and gondola lift in the Bieszczady Mountains as an investment that will strengthen the magnetism of Solina, a major tourist hotspot.At the opening, Morawiecki remarked how Solina is a beautiful place where nature is untouched by the human hand*. The picturesque holiday destination in South East Poland is famous for its forest-covered peaks and vast open water, home to the largest artificial lake in the country.These surroundings make Solina equally as popular with birds as it is for tourists. The area is home to 130 species of birds, including eagles, hawks, sparrowhawks, smews, black terns and songbirds; while also being located on a main migratory route.Protecting Solina’s bird population was therefore a top priority for the two groups behind the tourist attraction, the PKL Group (Polish Cableways), which provide sustainable mountain tourism services, and the PFR Group (The Polish Development Fund), a state-owned financial group which invests in sustainable social development, who paid close attention to the needs of bird species throughout the design and construction phases.They turned to specialist glass for the gondola station and the observation tower to help protect its feathered neighbours.Glass designed to protect birdsPilkington AviSafe™, an innovative glass designed to protect birds, was specified for the project’s glazing. Its unique patterned UV enhanced coating disrupts the reflection on the glass, helping birds to see a clear barrier.Jason Eggerton, UK specifications manager at Pilkington United Kingdom Limited, part of the NSG Group, explained: “Experts distinguish three effects leading to birds colliding with glass.“The mirror effect is where birds mistake the glass’ reflection as reality. Corners of buildings or narrow passageways can also lead to collisions as they allow birds to see the habitat on the other side of the building. Thirdly, the fly-through effect is where birds may also not see the transparent barrier and aim to fly into a building to a perching spot, such as within an atrium.“The gondola station and observation tower are surrounded by forests making bird collisions due to reflections of the trees a particular risk. Ultimately Pilkington AviSafe™ disrupts these reflections making the glass more visible”The coating is designed on the principle that birds see in a different light range to people, making Pilkington AviSafe™ glass more visible to birds while remaining aesthetically appealing on the exterior surface. From the inside however, it’s barely visible to the human eye.It was used in the large, modern glass facades of the gondola station in combination with Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35 and Pilkington Optilam™ glass, which ensures effective thermal insulation, solar control and safety.The Pilkington AviSafe™ glass was manufactured at the Merseyside manufacturing site of Pilkington United Kingdom Limited, part of the NSG Group, in St Helens.Jason Eggerton continued: “Making buildings truly sustainable goes beyond emissions and energy efficiency. Architects and specifiers increasingly need to consider how their projects impact local wildlife too.“Pilkington AviSafe™ has clear value amidst nature reserves, forests and mountains in Solina. But many of the world’s major cities are located on bird migratory paths, where tall, glazed buildings can increase the chance of collisions.“We’re proud to support a project of such high prestige and economic significance in Poland, and to play our part helping Solina’s tourism industry to maintain its minimal impact on nature and local wildlife.”

ASF's 128 pattern cast iron bollard was used in this project as the post for a bespoke step unit. One side of the steps was fixed to a set of railings (also by ASF) by a core fixing directly to the bollard upright. The handrails themselves were bespoke manufactured mild steel, galvanised rails, with steel side mounting brackets made to mechanically fix into the ASF 128 Bollards.

The £25 million redevelopment of the hospital includes a new emergency department. Working alongside our clients Willmott Dixon Interiors Ltd, GDL were appointed to manufacture and supply the Acoustic Louvres and the Clip-on Louvre screening as part of the 23 hour assessment and A&E refurbishment. Our acoustic Louvres are designed to attenuate medium and high frequency noise breakouts from ductwork and plant room openings and were selected for the existing plant area along Pond Street. This product can be manufactured to suit any bespoke size requirements and is available in single bank or for higher levels of attenuation, double bank.  Our Louvre screening can be located at basement, ground, mid or roof level and can be fixed in a conventional 45º angle or inverted depending on the privacy requirements of the designers and architects. We can also supply single or double leaf doors providing secure access to the screened areas.

Elizabeth Tower is located at the southern end of Deansgate on Crown Street in Manchester city centre. The panels for this 52 story building were fabricated here in the UK and anodised Anolok Bronze 545.

Located on Dove Place at the Chelsea Barracks site in London you will find the Bicameral sculpture which was created by Conrad Shawcross using 693 components and stands at eight Meters tall. It was anodised to UA150-0 Blue from our Organic dye colour range to compliment its surroundings.

This brownfield site had potential contaminated ground conditions where upon Geotechnical and Environmental Investigations were carried out to assist their client with their Planning Application.The JUTA Team carried out a free technical assessment of the scheme, and showed a cost saving to the client against the existing specified product to satisfy planning conditions and were able to offer our GP®1 Proprietary Gas Barrier protecting personnel from the ingress of Radon, Carbon Dioxide and Methane in accordance to BS8485:2015+A1:2019 Table 7 Resulting in a cost saving to the client.

As part of a £14 million redevelopment of Bolton’s Market Place Shopping Centre, the extensive historic vaults that lay beneath were uncovered and developed into bar and restaurant units. Bolton Gate were engaged to design, manufacture and install nine collapsible steel gates which spanned the openings some of which were arched and in keeping with the surrounding metalwork, a clear powder coating was applied over the galvanised substrate to match. In addition to the vault gates, Bolton Gate also supplied a series of roller shutters, smoke and fire curtains in the upper development of the project.

49ers Enterprises Ltd, the corporate venture capital arm of The San Francisco 49ers focused on sport, has acquired full ownership of Leeds United Football Club with a commitment to bring fresh leadership, management and investment.Recent improvements at the Club have included a steel louvred fence.Lang+Fulton supplied an Italia-100 steel louvred fence to screen the parking area for coaches at the Club. Italia-100 provides a high level of security with anti-climb properties and 100% visual screening. The fencing stretches to 111 linear metres behind the West stand of the stadium.Each RHS post was double-holed to allow for the installation to be stepped along the entire length of the fence run to accommodate the gently rising ground. Access for the coaches was provided through an extra wide 7450mm double leaf gate.The specification for the fencing and gates was for a height of 2500mm. This was achieved by seamlessly stacking an extension panel on top of the standard 1975mm panel with a flat bar frame on either side.The panels posts and gates were hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated Grey (RAL7016) for a durable, long lasting finish.

A new SuRNICC unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital provides care for premature and sick newborn babies. The design follows the latest neonatal healthcare standards and principles of family-centred care. In clinical areas the Acrovyn impact protection range was specified. Graphics depicting trees and butterflies, incorporated into Acrovyn by Design, were fitted in cot rooms, waiting and play areas, to brighten the environment. Acrovyn Sheet was used on door faces and frames, whilst crashrails and corner guards protect corridor walls from impact damage. The comprehensive wall protection scheme ensures the interior remains attractive, damage free and easy to maintain.

Dublin City Council were particularly interested in IKO Carrara’s exceptional environmental properties with its view to adding photovoltaic panels (PV) to the existing building. PV panels in combination with IKO Carrara have greater efficiency, up to 25%, as the performance of the solar cells increases during sunny periods, at a lower ambient temperature.

ASF were asked to manufacture the popular Exmouth Post and Rail system for step units leading from the promenade to Exmouth Beach. Manufactured in grade 316 stainless steel these posts and rails are finished bright polished, so the combination of material grade and high standard polish finish makes the finish extremely durable even when covered in sand and completely submerged by the sea - which happens a number of times year.

The project was to create a partitioned living space with the requirements of ample storage, traditional style, integrated LED lighting and a sliding door mechanism. After seeking advice from our Holland office, Ralpine Designs decided that our Husky 100 sliding door hardware was the right project for the job. Using a library and display unit, the living room and dining room could be separated into two rooms or opened up as one big room when required. The system was used to hold two biparting wooden doors, utilising a face fixed aluminium track for added quality.

This spring the new Dyson Cancer Centre at Royal United Hospitals, Bath will be opening its doors. A great deal of the building-works have been carried out including works on the building façade by specialists, Regency Facades.Our VitraFix® VF1 rainscreen subframe systems has been installed onto the building for both the vertical wall and soffit areas (carrier rails, brackets and all fixings) which will provide the support for the cladding panels.Two panel types from our rainscreen cladding range have been used on the buildings facade: VitraDual®, which is a cladding panel made from aluminium and our natural-looking fibre cement cladding panel, Ceramapanel® – both products achieve A1 fire rating to BS EN 13501-1.It’s been fantastic to have been involved in a project where there’s more than one panel type being used which adds extra detail and boosts the appearance of the façade. All of our products are non-combustible making them the obvious choice in any building project especially when safety is paramount to the hospital, patients and visitors.The Dyson Centre is a world-class facility that will provide cutting-edge treatment for patients from across the region and will bring together the majority of the RUH's cancer services, including research, under one roof. The new building will support staff to deliver the very best care, in the best environment. The Emerald rises 40 stories above one of Seattle's most desirable neighbourhoods. The LEED Silver certified building manages to redefine luxury living. According to the idea of Hewitt architecture studio from Seattle, high-quality, natural materials as well as the sophisticated daylight concept blur the boundaries between the interior rooms and the picturesque nature. This is particularly evident on the second and third floors where the Pilkington Profilit™ channel glass system spans the outside of the fitness centre and community meeting spaces. Large, glazed areas can diffuse extensive amounts of natural light deep into interior spaces without loss of privacy.Apart from channel glass, Pilkington Pyrostop® Line fire protection glass also ensures natural light deep into the interior. Both products were installed in systems from Technical Glass Products.A transparent façade with Pilkington fire-resistant glass was planned to separate the fitness studio from the corridor in terms of fire protection. The spacious inner façade made of glass provides plenty of light in the training area and enables the desired feel-good atmosphere in the fitness studio. At the same time, it directs a lot of light into the interior of the building.The fire-resistant glass Pilkington Pyrostop® Line was used in a Fireframe Clearview® system from TGP with Heat Barrier frames and doors from the Fireframe Heat Barrier series. This generously fire-resistant and at the same time impact-resistant solution could be implemented without a vertical frame between the individual panes, with almost colourless transitions between the adjacent glass panes and without coloured inner glass spacers.

Our installers carried out all necessary remedial work to align the Teaching wall electrical access points to the wrongly positioned sockets on the dado trunking.After successful installation of the Teaching Walls, we were informed by Bridglea PRU that children had been climbing up the side of the Teaching Walls by suspending themselves between the Teaching Wall and the classroom wall–in an attempt to get on top of the Teaching Walls and climb inside the cabinets. Boyco supplied & installed bespoke infill boxes to the corner of the necessary Teaching Walls, to prevent pupils being able to gain any access to the roof of the Teaching Walls.

Organic UnAtex Red was utilised on the feature façade and the interior running track.  The architect at Shepard Robson (Simon Davies) developed a patinated two tone multi-layered finish within the Anodised Aluminium surface.  This finish is unique to the UnAmil process and was developed as a bespoke solution for this project.  The Anodic Finish is A1 fire rated and carries a lifetime guarantee.UA worked closely with the architect and Sotech to produce the unique facade on the building.

OverviewPowrmatic was selected to supply a frost protection warehouse heating solution for a massive 81,000m² building at Plot 2 at the Midland Logistic Park installed by Phase Mechanical Projects. a combination of 7 TE61 heating units and TE61 Destratifcation units were installed.Project BackgroundThe 81,000m² industrial logistic warehouse required frost protection with design parameters of -5°c external and +5°c internal.SolutionOne of our largest installations to date, 4 x TEG61 air rotation heaters were installed by our trusted partners Phase Mechanical Projects. Each TEG61 heaters boasts an impressive 525kW of heat output and were installed alongside 3 x TE61 destratification units to assist with the air turnover due to the size of the building. The 4 TEG61 heater units selected were designed to move 39m3/s of air around the building per unit, and when combined with 3 TE61 destratification units also at 39m3/s this gave a total air volume of 270m3/s which achieved the required 0.8 air movements per hour from the end client.ResultThe newly styled Powrmatic Air rotation units in our new RAL 7015 colour were installed expertly by Phase Mechanical Projects. The racked logistic warehouse will now benefit from a frost protection system which will protect the internal sprinkler system from freezing in the colder months. Each T.E manufactured at Powrmatic is custom built to specific project requirements.

Architects at the Rathbone Partnership in South Devon contacted us in 2011 about a new feature in the garden of Buckfast Abbey. They had a creative and inventive plan to transform a section of the garden into a tranquil retreat for both the visitors and the monks. What a transformation! Our grilles are used to make stunning architectural features such as this bridge over the waterway channel and blend perfectly complimenting stone and water in a way that only cast iron can. Introducing the first new design, cast iron, coal hole cover made in the UK for more than 50 years . Based on 4 segmented circles traditionally used during the Victorian period, this design is right up to date and proudly displays our company name. Particularly important in todays modern society is the deep rebate that allows the design to "pop out" and help generate grip for pedestrians. The circumference has cutaways to prevent water pooling. Available in a bare metal finish to rust naturally and improve grip or painted black . Weighing in at over 5KG this cover will last a lifetime and be a feature within the paving for the public today and for future generations.

AOV or Automatic Opening Vent systems control the airflow of smoke in a fire. According to EN12102-2 it is a statutory requirement to have an AOV unit on a new construction. Since 2006, Europe has required that the AOVs meet with the standards set forth in DIN EN12102-2. As a result, many companies have made their versions of AOVs. Majority of these options only go as far as barely meeting the before stated regulations. However, the Coxdome Firejet SHEV exceeds the expectations and requirements of a standard AOV.

Yeoman Shield were assigned by main contractors Bauvill Construction to install a wall and door protection system as part of the scheme to create a new Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiology ward along with an access corridor at William Harvey Hospital in Kent.The access corridor was fitted with Yeoman Shield’s Guardian Twin Handrail in a stunning colour combination of burgundy and mid grey with matching accessories and attractive stainless steel connective brackets helping to add a unique touch to the décor of the area.Chosen for its dual functionality the Guardian Twin handrail incorporates an ergonomic upper handrail as support for people who require assistance and a lower robust protection rail, which sitting slightly forward guards both the handrail and the walls from marking and damage caused by the passage of wheeled equipment.The same Guardian Twin Handrail system was also deployed in the CCU this time with a red lower rail, a striking contrast to the mid grey handrail. Matching red Corner Protection Angles, both 90° and 135°, were installed to vulnerable corners protecting from impact damage.Fire doors in the unit also benefitted from the installation of Yeoman Shield’s fire rated door protection products, shielding the door from impact damage that can be detrimental to the functioning of a fire door.Fire rated door edge protectors to both meeting and hinged edges as well as door protection panels were added to the door without affecting the integrity of the original fire door.Yeoman Shield were able to assist with exacting time scales on the project by a quick turnaround of product and service with a site survey, manufacture and installation of the product being completed in 2 weeks.Paula Stone, Head of Operational Facilities Management at East Kent University Foundation Trust commented “The lower wall protection element of Yeoman Shield’s Guardian Handrail now fitted in our high traffic areas will reduce the cost of repairs and maintenance overtime. OverviewPowrmatic supplied a TEG41 air rotation heater for a large distribution warehouse facility in Bristol which was installed by our trusted partners at RSY Air Conditioning.Project BackgroundSupplying the motor trade for over 50 years, Apec Braking is firmly established as the leading specialist braking supplier to motor factors throughout the UK and Ireland. The 10,488 m² distribution warehouse required frost protection with design parameters of -5°c external and +10°c internal.SolutionJust one TEG41 air rotation heater was installed by our trusted partners RSY Air Conditioning. This TEG41 heater was designed to deliver an impressive 420kW of heat output. The TEG41 heater uses high volume, low velocity, air-circulation to distribute conditioned air to large open space and is the perfect solution for any distribution warehouse heating requirements. Due to the customers requirement to maximise the amount of racking within the warehouse area the distance of the unit from racking was much less than would be usually recommend (it was under 2mtrs from face of heater to face of full height racking).ResultThe newly styled Powrmatic Air rotation units in our new RAL 7015 colour were installed by RSY Air Conditioning. The unit was redesigned at the top of the unit to be top exit rather than the conventional design. The theory behind this was to direct the leaving air towards the roof and use the internal profile of the roof to aid with stratifying the air across the building length. The racked distribution warehouse will now benefit from a frost protection system which will protect the internal sprinkler system from freezing in the colder months.

County Sligo has been blessed with a brand-new luxury hotel, the internationally renowned Radisson SAS Hotel, where the comfort of guests and staff is of paramount importance. Every precaution has also been taken to ensure the safety of residents including the installation of high quality, clear view fire-resistant glass products, Pilkington Pyrostop® and Pilkington Pyrodur®, which have been fitted extensively throughout the entire hotel.Pilkington Pyrodur® is a laminated glass with a special interlayer, developed for the optimum combination of minimum thickness, integrity fire resistance and impact performance. In a fire, the glass forms an opaque barrier to exclude flames and hot gases as well as blocking the sight of the fire, hence reducing panic. In addition to its integrity performance Pilkington Pyrodur® reduces the transfer of radiant heat significantly.Jackie Corcorran of main contractor, J J Rhatigan & Co. Galway was closely involved in the specification of the specialised glass alongside White Bros. Joinery Sligo & Jim Walsh of Greaney Glass Galway. 160 m2 of 10 mm Pilkington Pyrodur® with a 30-minute integrity rating was installed within the corridors of the building. In other areas where there is a slightly greater risk of fire, such as the kitchen area, internal doors and function room screens, were fitted with 21 mm Pilkington Pyrostop®, which provides 60 minutes fire integrity and insulation.Specialist glass & glazing contractors, Greaney Glass, were responsible for installing the fire-resistant glass and Ivan Greaney, Managing Director, comments: “For such a prestigious project it was imperative we used a fire-resistant glass we could trust. There could be hundreds of people within the hotel at any one time so we needed to use materials that would provide maximum protection under the most extreme circumstances. As Pilkington Pyrostop® and Pilkington Pyrodur® are backed by a full suite of impact and fire performance tests, we had no doubts that this was the ideal glass for this project.”Pilkington Pyrostop® and Pilkington Pyrodur® provide excellent levels of protection and have been tested and assessed to BS and EN standards. Not only do they offer excellent fire-resistance they also fully comply with impact safety tests and permit safe breakage in the manner of a laminated glass. In addition, they provide acoustic improvement over standard fire-resistant glass, an important consideration in the hotel that offers a peaceful and relaxing retreat for guests.

In the historic centre of Lecce, a renowned jewellery shop is renewed.Pilkington OptiView™ Ultra Protect anti-reflective glass was installed to guarantee an optimal view of the products on sale. This glass is characterised by minimal light reflection: in fact, it's visual light reflection is below 1%.
