The University of the West of Scotland’s launched ambitious plans to relocate to a new £110m campus in Lanarkshire, 2 miles away from the current Victorian building.Modern new build environment.The relocation of the campus was tasked to achieve a modern new build environment, “to develop a truly inspirational and world-class University campus fit for existing and future students.” – Prof Craig Mahoney, Principal.Soundis Absorb-R WoodTec Wall Slats was specified for its acoustical performance of Class A NRC and robust material.The WoodTec Wall Slats are based on a fibre gypsum board which has excellent properties regarding both fire safety and acoustics. The slats are less sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity which results in 100% straight aligned slats over their full lifetime.A work of art...Soundis installed the WoodTec Wall Slats to the main wall within the foyer. In addition to the purely functional benefits and its sound quality, this particular area of installation was described by the client as ‘a work of art in its own right’.

Style recently worked with contractor, AKP, to create space flexibility in AECOM’s new Glasgow premises. The addition of a Dorma Huppe Variflex glass and a Variflex solid moveable wall allow staff to create a meeting room within a main breakout area, as well as an additional meeting area near a social pool room and relaxation space.Both partitioning systems benefit from semi-automatic operation. The panels are moved into place manually, whereupon impressive rubber seals automatically expand to exactly the right pressure to create an effective acoustic barrier. With the glass and solid moveable walls boasting 47dB and 46dB acoustic ratings respectively, formal and informal meetings can take place without outside disturbance. AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, has bought the Glasgow team together on one site at the new Bothwell Street offices. The double sided living wall on the road boundary of Winston Way Academy was designed specifically to capture road related pollution and improve air quality in the school grounds. It has the added benefit of creating an attractive entrance to the school.

Project:Surespan were approached to develop and supply a series of 4 hour fire rated flush floor access covers for the Midfield Concourse expansion project at Hong Kong International Airport. The HK$10 Billion dollar project was completed in 2015 following extensive design and planning processes utilising BIM modelling. Product:Our SAC covers were specified for their fire rating and ease of customisation. The covers were specially adapted with a 200mm upstand and enhanced fire-rated materials to achieve the 4-hour rating. The Coventry Building Society Arena is an award-winning complex situated in the heart of the UK. Maximising revenue opportunities for the exhibition and conference area, Style was commissioned to install a 10 metre high Dorma Hüppe Variflex moveable wall, allowing the 54 metre wide hall to be divided into two separate rooms or left as one vast, open-plan space. Delivering an excellent acoustic rating of 55dB, the partitioning wall allows concurrent events to be run undisturbed on either side.Helping ensure the safe operation of such a large moveable wall, Style recommended the i-Track system which uses a sequence of curves and internal track switches to allow the smooth and easy movement of the heavy panels. The Coventry Building Society Arena (often shortened to the CBS Arena, and formerly known as the Ricoh Arena) is a first-class facility that includes a 32,609-seater stadium, conference, exhibition and meeting spaces to cater for events from as small as 7 up to as many as 7,000 delegates, as well as a Hilton hotel and an expansive casino complex.  Style worked directly with the arena to increase the flexibility of the Indoor Arena, a pillar-free hall offering 6,000 square metres of event space.“With nearly 25 years in operation, Style has had considerable experience delivering moveable wall solutions for halls as large as the one at the CBS Arena”, said Steve Williams, sales director for Style Midlands. “When panel heights exceed 5000mm, weight can become an issue with regards to ease of manoeuvrability. “The Dorma Hüppe i-Track will help reduce wear and tear of the tracking and carriers, significantly extending the operational life of the wall and reducing ongoing maintenance costs. “For the operator, it means the days of wrestling with oversized panels is now a thing of the past. Just 100 metres away from the Royal Courts of Justice in London stands 188 Fleet Street, which until recently was the home of bankers Coutts & Co. The 35,000 sq ft building, purchased for £11 million, has been recently refurbished by HD Architects to house a publishing company. The renovated office benefits from a number of striking internal steel screens which feature throughout the office and contribute to the amount of natural daylight that filters through the space.

Begbroke Innovation Centre - the new multi-use building at Begbroke Science Park will help small and medium-sized science businesses take their projects to market, and provide facilities for researchers from the University. The open space outside the new building comprises of a number of straight and curved gabion walls, which on their own do not provide any suitable seating for users. Furnitubes supplied a number of Lapa gabion seat and bench platforms for the new building, which were installed on the gabion walls outside the facility offering new comfortable seating provision for everyone.

The University of Winchester programmed the upgrade of 63 student en-suite showers and toilet facilities for their halls of residence through the 2014 summer vacation period over an eight-week program. The walls were covered with tiling. The grout was difficult to clean and the tiles were showing signs of age which required regular repair. It was decided to renew areas with materials that would give long life, reduce maintenance costs and above all make it much easier for the cleaning teams to accomplish their tasks quickly and effectively.

Avanti Fields School in Leicester is using bespoke manufactured external wall linings from the Pendock Linea range to add colour and style to the main entrance of the new build school, which was completed in 2021 by BAM Construction.Each of the 10 wall linings incorporates a unique design, which is applied using digital printing onto highly durable compact laminate panels, which were installed to the architect’s specification by Pendock’s specialist installation team.

Chinmaya Mission exists to provide individuals with the wisdom and practical means for personal growth and development, enabling them to become positive contributors to society.  At Chinmaya Kirti, their home in London, a major renovation project was designed as a vision for future generations, rather than just an improved building.Working with architects, KJC, and contractor, Home Republic, Style was specified to be part of that vision, installing moveable walls to enable one large space in the classroom/bookshop area to be easily converted into six multi-functional rooms based on daily requirements. A combination of multiple Dorma Hüppe Variflex Glass and Variflex solid semi-automatic moveable walls were agreed as the best solution, with the glass moveable walls providing a 52dB acoustic barrier and the solid wall 55dB.With a standard anodised aluminium frame finish to the glass walls, and a melamine finish to the solid walls, the final installation provided a light and calm feel to the room design.“This is a great example of how using a combination of glass and solid moveable walls can transform how space is used,” said Michael Porter, sales director for Style South.“The glass moveable walls can combine to create a temporary corridor while the solid moveable walls then segregate the space into smaller individual rooms. Allowing two events to run concurrently, the cavernous room is divided by a fully automatic Skyfold moveable wall. Discreetly housed in the ceiling cavity, the wall descends effortlessly into place at the push of a button and, with an incredible 59dB Rw acoustic rating, lively gatherings can take place either side of the wall undisturbed.In the hotel’s meeting rooms, Style installed semi-automatic Dorma Huppe Variflex double-glazed moveable walls with 52dB Rw acoustic ratings and fully glazed pass doors. For completed adaptability, the meeting areas are then additionally sub-divided using smaller Skyfold vertical-rising walls.“This is a spectacular installation,” said Style’s group managing director, Julian Sargent. “The main Skyfold is finished in a real oak wood veneer whilst the glass moveable walls feature chic black painted frames with reeded glass for enhanced privacy.

This study aimed to compare levels of bacterial contamination isolated from surfaces in a busy kitchen situated in a UK care home. The study’s main objective was to compare bacterial contamination on the antimicrobial wall cladding with other surfaces in the kitchen. The care home kitchen had been fitted with BioClad PVC wall cladding at the time of construction in 2011. All walls in the rectangular-shaped room were fitted with BioClad from ceiling to floor. The antimicrobial performance of the wall cladding was to be appraised according to the findings of the study.

Amtico helped to transform two of JD Wetherpoon’s pub entrance areas. Each site wanted to incorporate their pub logo into the flooring design. The hardwearing attributes of Amtico flooring and the unique cutting and design capabilities influenced Harrison Ince Architects when specifying for the two sites. Interior Designer, Louise Macartney explains: “Both pubs are extremely busy so they needed a floor that could withstand the demanding usage and footfall for many years to come. In addition, Amtico’s custom design service allowed us to transform our initial idea into reality creating a greater sense of identity for each pub.”

Space 48 is an ecommerce consultancy which needed to create multifunctional areas within its Manchester offices. Architectural and interior designers for the project, DV8 Designs, utilised Amtico’s Designers’ Choice laying patterns to deliver an outstanding scheme.

John Harvey Design Consultancy took on the challenge of updating the foyer of this Grade II listed building. As part of their 25th Birthday celebrations, the Mayflower theatre launched an appeal to help fund changes to the main foyer which no longer met the modern needs of the leisure attraction.

Designed by architect Violetta Golletz-Fresemann, the newly renovated office offers many visual highlights including 260sqm of beautiful Cornish Oak from the Amtico Signature collection.

The Portico DC178 was the perfect choice for established coffee store Harris + Hoole who needed a welcoming, stylish and impactful flooring to match its unique coffee experience. Puma is a German multinational corporation and the third largest sportswear manufacturer in the world.Puma decided to install Amtico Spacia Plaza Concrete across the 3300 sqm space. The combination of evenly coloured, pale greys with a smooth texture creates versatility and durability at the same time.Our Concrete product also removes the challenges presented by poured surfaces and heavy ceramics – offering instead a floor that can be laid quickly and used immediately.

Located off Birdcage Walk, adjacent to London’s St James’ Park and just a short distance from Buckingham Palace, The Guards Museum is home to the official exhibition detailing the history of the British Foot Guards and Household Cavalry.

Beacon House is a landmark 1850s Grade II listed building in Clifton, Bristol. Acquired by the University in 2014, it has undergone a complete redevelopment, transforming it into a state-of-the- art central study and learning hub with a new public reception point for the University, and a stylish café. Amtico Signature finishes were chosen not only to be exciting and attractive, but also highly durable, slip resistant (R10 classification) and allow Beacon House’s staff to easily clean the areas, with a simple schedule to maintain the flooring’s high visual impact.

First impressions count, which led to Amtico Signature being used throughout The Cotgrave Hub – a brand new, state-of the-art building located in the heart of the borough of Rushcliffe. Part of an extensive redevelopment of the local area, the multipurpose facility brings together GP services, a pharmacy, the community voluntary service, a library and Nottinghamshire Police all under the same roof.

Inside Point A Hotel Shoreditch lies a contemporary interior which offers sophistication and modernity, echoed by the use of Amtico LVT flooring throughout.To maintain a refined and cultured feel, Amtico LVT flooring has been installed in all bedrooms, as well as the hotel’s social spaces, which comprise a variety of lounges and a breakfast area.
