Combined with the dark wood of the furniture, the concrete effect makes the bathroom a corner that evokes the beauty of craftsmanship, an expression of value and attention to detail. The hotel's dining room also speaks a modern and elegant language thanks to concrete-effect ceramic surfaces that give free expression to a setting where it’s easy to feel at ease. Floors that recall the strength of concrete feature a smooth, continuous look for bright interiors and relaxing atmospheres where even the minimalism of the furnishings helps to give the flooring a simple, refined look. The decisive character of the concrete-effect porcelain tiles and the neutral tones of their palette combine in the wellness area of the hotel, where the technical performance of the material and the esthetic research coexist without compromise in ceramic solutions that achieve new levels of excellence. Using different formats, the concrete-effect porcelain tiles have made the space dedicated to relaxation an environment able to satisfy modernity and classicism, minimalism and comfort, design and functionality, all characteristics of a contemporary style but that also represent essential elements for the construction of a spa. Thanks also to the anti-slip 120x120 cm format and to the 20 mm thickness specific for exteriors, the concrete-look porcelain tile solutions of Atlas Concorde have contributed to the creation of a total look with a powerful visual impact both in the flooring of the hotel’s terraces and in its outdoor spaces. The versatility of the concrete effect speaks a modern language in any kind of environment, opening up multiple avenues for design.

The Postmark

The Postmark

The Safety Letterbox Company

THE LOCATIONThis incredible luxury development is situated on the site of the Royal Mail Group Depot, Sorting Office, Postal Museum, and the Royal Mail private underground railway network. A very significant project for us to be involved in not only for the relevance of Royal Mail but also because SLB manufactured and installed the Mount Pleasant sorting office mailboxes on this site over 20 years ago.THE PROJECTThe Postmark sits on a 6-acre land which provides 681 new homes and 20,000 sq. commercial space that includes a cinema room, relaxing lobbies, a state-of-the-art gym, and a roof terrace that looks over Farrington.THE PRODUCTThe Safety Letterbox Company supplied two different mailbox types for The Post Mark. After considering the specifications and the design of our projects, the Interior Designers chose the Tile mailbox and the FR2 mailbox. The Tile mailbox is a unique model in many ways, boxes sit snugly next to each other due to the innovative SLB developed hinge mechanism, allowing doors to open in their own space, hence the Tile appearance, other usual features are removed to simplify its appearance with a slot rather than a letter flap. The mailboxes also showcase our Vitreous Enamel finish. Vitreous Enamel is a thin layer of glass fused at a high temperature onto the metal surface. This is the perfect finish for our Tile mailboxes as it gives the product a bespoke finish. This Tile mailbox is an in-front/out-front horizontal product making it safe and secure for the residents in the building. The Tile Mailbox is very versatile in colour options too, on this project, the Interior Designers required the mailboxes to be the same colour as the wall which was Polaris Blue (RAL 1649).The other mailboxes The Safety Letterbox Company supplied for this project were FR2, a 2-hour fire-rated mailbox that is suitable for horizontally storing A4-sized mail for both front entry and front retrieval. The Fire Rated 2 mailbox has been developed to restrict the spread of fire for up to two hours only and if recessed into a fire-rated wall, will maintain the integrity of the fire-rated wall for up to two hours. FR2 is the perfect mailbox solution when placed in the main emergency exit. The FR2 is customisable, and The Postmark wanted a similar product to The Tile mailbox but with extra safety precautions. The FR2 mailboxes were all recessed and banked 3 high by 7 wide with the same Polaris blue colour making the mailboxes blend into the wall. The Post Mark also wanted to make the mailboxes practical for their residents, so they added a standard engraving with black infill.

IssueSheffield Olympic Legacy Park Stadium was created after a collaboration of key institutions decided to deliver an Olympic legacy through the four themes of sport, community, environment and economy. The park has an ethos to achieve physical and mental health and wellbeing by providing world-class facilities for community sports, from grassroots up to elite levels.ApproachWith the need to provide inspirational interiors for aspiring Olympians, Alex Parojcic, Architect at Whittam Cox knew that a high-end design, complemented by technical performance and ease of maintenance was required for the new changing areas, showers and physiotherapy suite. “Ceramic tiles had originally been specified for the showers and changing rooms, but we switched to Altro Tegulis when we realised the installation would be quicker, give a fantastic look and feel to the areas, and provide the cleanliness and hygiene standards required for such busy areas.”Joe Richardson of Richardsons Cladding who completed the installation, added “Altro Tegulis was a quick and easy install which assisted with the contractor’s tight programme. If this had been done in the ceramic tiles it would have impacted the programme massively.”SolutionAltro Tegulis, partnered by Altro Aquarius were specified for the showers, providing safety from slips in shoes and barefoot. For the changing rooms, where traffic from football studs, sports shoe spikes and bumps/knocks from sports bags and equipment would be experienced, Altro Atlas 40 was specified. With a range of tile-effect patterns offering a grout-free alternative to tiles, Altro Tegulis offers a more familiar feeling than traditional wall panel sheets.Altro Atlas is well suited to areas where the risk of a slip is high, including heavy duty industrial use and sports changing rooms.
