Hotel Garden Park

Rock Unique

In a picture-perfect setting, Atlas Concorde's concrete-effect porcelain tiles give the Hotel Garden Park in the Vinschgau Valley an elegant, contemporary look. Learn moreIn a modern space with a refined flavor, Atlas Concorde's concrete-effect porcelain tiles help to bring out the elegance and relaxing ambiance of Hotel Garden Park.In a perfect blend of minimalist esthetics and the elegance of sophisticated contemporary apartments, the Hotel Garden Park in the heart of the Vinschgau Valley presents itself to guests with a simple style and a great attention to detail.A key focus when designing the rooms was the choice of surfaces, colors, and furnishings that best represent the atmosphere of comfort and rest typical of the facility. Atlas Concorde's concrete-effect porcelain tiles were therefore the ideal solution for furnishing various areas of the hotel, giving them a refined look and bold visual impact.Floor and wall tiles with a troweled concrete effect and soft touch enliven the bathrooms of the rooms through a neutral nuance capable of conveying a style with a strong identity and creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and relaxing. Combined with the dark wood of the furniture, the concrete effect makes the bathroom a corner that evokes the beauty of craftsmanship, an expression of value and attention to detail. The hotel's dining room also speaks a modern and elegant language thanks to concrete-effect ceramic surfaces that give free expression to a setting where it’s easy to feel at ease. Floors that recall the strength of concrete feature a smooth, continuous look for bright interiors and relaxing atmospheres where even the minimalism of the furnishings helps to give the flooring a simple, refined look. The decisive character of the concrete-effect porcelain tiles and the neutral tones of their palette combine in the wellness area of the hotel, where the technical performance of the material and the esthetic research coexist without compromise in ceramic solutions that achieve new levels of excellence. Using different formats, the concrete-effect porcelain tiles have made the space dedicated to relaxation an environment able to satisfy modernity and classicism, minimalism and comfort, design and functionality, all characteristics of a contemporary style but that also represent essential elements for the construction of a spa. Thanks also to the anti-slip 120x120 cm format and to the 20 mm thickness specific for exteriors, the concrete-look porcelain tile solutions of Atlas Concorde have contributed to the creation of a total look with a powerful visual impact both in the flooring of the hotel’s terraces and in its outdoor spaces. The versatility of the concrete effect speaks a modern language in any kind of environment, opening up multiple avenues for design.

Sustainability and Sound Design at The Chamberlain Hotel

Sustainability and Sound Design at The Chamberlain Hotel

Troldtekt A/S

When interior design company Sibley Grove was appointed to re-design the public areas at The Chamberlain Hotel near Tower Hill in London, sustainability was paramount. The company ethos states that design should be a vehicle for positive change – both environmentally and socially. Consequently, to help achieve this, Troldtekt’s wood wool panels make an important contribution to the overall design of the luxurious interpretation of an industrial basement bar. As part of the concept, the interior has been stripped back to create height and volume, revealing structural columns and ductwork within. In addition, the façade has been adapted so that natural light can flood in and reveal the inner working of the space. By its very nature, this created a lot of hard surfaces so Troldtekt’s acoustic wood wool panels were specified to help combat the problems generated by noise and reverberated sounds. The designers were keen to specify as many sustainable and Cradle-to-Cradle certified materials as possible such as wall and floor tiles, timber, carpets and Troldtekt’s wood wool ceilings (certified to Silver Level). By specifying these products, the environmental impact is minimal and also that, if and when the time comes for a change, the materials can be reused, re-appropriated. recycled or upcycled. Specified throughout the UK and Europe, the benefits of 100% Troldtekt natural wood wool panels include high sound absorption, high durability, natural breathability, low cost life cycle performance and sustainability. Available in various sizes and in four grades from extreme fine to coarse, the panels can be left untreated or painted in virtually any RAL colour. Designer Jeremy Grove commented, “We believe good design should enhance people’s lives and work in harmony with the natural environment. The hotel industry is inherently wasteful, but people are looking for ways to correct this. Cradle-to-Cradle is an extremely effective way of tackling issues such as global resource depletion, exploited labour and excessive waste. The Chamberlain Hotel is our third collaboration with Fullers in the last 12 months that has used a considerable number of Cradle-to-Cradle products.”Samples, case studies and technical information are easily sourced from tel 01978 664255 or visit www.troldtekt.co.uk. ABG blueroof, Podium Deck Stormwater Attenuation, Middlewood Locks, Salford, UK

ABG

Located at the first locks of the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal, the second phase of the £1bn Middlewood Locks development in Salford delivers 546 apartments across 4 new buildings with private podium gardens. Phase 2 of the development is part of the wider mixed-use scheme to regenerate 25 hectares of brownfield land with new apartments, office space, a hotel, bars, restaurants, car parking and a gym.The large catchment area of the development discharges to the newly renovated balancing basins that service the confluence of adjacent canals and the River Irwell. An extensive podium drainage landscaping design was required to meet the site’s strict discharge limits and reduce the impact of surface water run-off to less than that of the pre-developed brownfield land. The ABG blueroof storm water attenuation system specified for the scheme covers over 9,500 m2 and restricts rainfall outflows to below the 16 l/s discharge limit on Plot G of the site and within the 20 l/s limit for Plot H. The system incorporates 27 ABG restrictor chambers above rainwater outlets which are configured to restrict outflow rates to within the discharge consents. The system is designed to attenuate a 1-in-100 storm event (data extrapolated from the local FEH 2013 flood report), plus 30% allowance for the effects of climate change. The geocomposite drainage and attenuation layers and network of restrictor chambers serve to filter surface water run-off pollutants to treatment train stage one of the SuDS process, meaning no other filtration measures are required. The top of the chambers are designed to sit flush with the porous resin paving surface, and different configurations and thicknesses of drainage composites were used to achieve the correct height of system to match the different surface levels. The ABG Deckdrain geocomposite layer provides multi-directional flow capacity to efficiently channel rainwater to the nearest restrictor chamber outlet whilst the integral geotextile filter helps to prevent the cuspated drainage core from becoming blocked. The choice of hard and soft landscaping materials specified for the development are of a very high standard and the inclusion of large areas of green spaces and substantial planting creates valuable new private gardens and amenity spaces for the area. The attenuation system configuration was designed and supplied by ABG and installed over a 6 month period by ABG Installs. As part of the storm water attenuation system design, a new restrictor chamber diffuser was developed to fit directly onto the downpipes of the apartment buildings. The attenuation voids were modified to allow for cable ducting to pass through them and a method was also developed to provide structural drainage beneath the concrete footings of the stone planter walls.

Rock Unique

The Sniezka Medica Spa, a multipurpose hotel with great urban appeal, is located in Łomnica, Poland. Atlas Concorde floors and tiles help shape the contemporary design of the large spaces of this hotel. Every detail of the project and the choice of materials have been designed to give the best reception to an international clientele.Marble-finish ceramic surfaces for scenic patterns and geometries in space Spaces are modern and welcoming. In the hall and in the area in front of the hotel’s reception, the star is Marvel PRO, which outlines the floors in scenic and practical interiors. Here, interior design plays with an alternation of light shades, such as Cremo Delicato, and dark shades, such as Noir St. Laurent. The honed finish of the Marvel PRO marble-effect stoneware gives unprecedented shine. In the Noir St. Laurent nuance, the stoneware surface resembles a kind of French marble with a dark ground, shades ranging from rich brown to deep black, outlined by white veins. It alternates with Cremo Delicato, which looks like a kind of Italian marble in a beige shade that verges on ivory, standing out for its delicate brown veins.Stone-effect stoneware for outdoor safety and aesthetic impact   In the hotel’s three entrances, stoneware surfaces celebrate a luscious, attractive nature with the Trust collection by Atlas Concorde. The ceramic surfaces of the Trust collection look like stone, with similarly rich details. Titanium was the colour of choice for this architectural project, as it takes inspiration from a precious split stone, embedding its scratches and elegant colour streaks.

Zaun Limited

The FA wanted only the best for its highest-profile ‘social pitch’ at St George’s Park, its new centre of excellence in Staffordshire, opened in October 2012 by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – FA President Prince William wife, Kate. The fence at Pitch No 2, the David Beckham Pitch, needed to take sponsorship and branding and keep rattle and noise to a minimum. The FA also wanted to fit in with the landscaping of the National Forest in which the centre sits. The SolutionThe system had to be in keeping with the environment – even down to surfacing the pitch surrounding the same golden colour as the car parks. In addition, it needed to limit noise impact on neighbours and cause minimal disruption to pitch use during installation as the fencing went in after the pitch. They chose a quality system that will last on this high-usage pitch at heights of 2m and 5m with EPDM inserts to insulate the fence panels from the posts to reduce noise during impacts to 72dB compared with the 93dB of wooden panels.Zaun designed its Super Rebound to take branding and sponsorship signs and fencing to remain robust even in brisk winds when the graphics can threaten to act as a ‘sail’.The installation, which is around a pitch that is primarily used by the public rather than for England training, carriesZaun’s industry-leading 12-year product guarantee.Zaun worked closely with East Staffs Borough Council on planning consent and with the St George’s Park groundsmen and facilities team to complete a tight programme of works on the £105m complex on budget and in time for the royal opening.

Emseal Colorseal VHS was used on Dixons Hotel at Tower Bridge in London, to seal the large, high potential movement capability, structural façade movement joints that also have variable widths, between the historic original building and its new extension

NCC – Emseal Movement Joints

The Dixon Hotel has been created by conversion of the former Tower Bridge Magistrates Court and Police Station, with the historic façade retained, and it is named after John Dixon Butler, the original architect. The redevelopment was carried out by McAleer & Rushe and consists of a 200 bedroom, 5-star hotel, with prestige bars and restaurants, plus business conference facilities, and all just 200m from Tower Bridge. This complex redevelopment project necessitated skillful integration of the historic façades and the original courtroom inside, with a new modern structure having to be built behind and around these original features. This integration meant that it was necessary to seal wide and variable width, external joints running vertically between the historic façade and the new modern structure. This required a movement joint system that could accommodate these different widths and still maintain a watertight seal with up to 100% joint movement capability. Emseal’s innovative Colorseal system was the engineers first choice as the ideal solution to meet these requirements, with the additional advantages that Colorseal is bonded into position, so requires no invasive mechanical fixings to be drilled into sound areas of the historic structure, or indeed, into the new façade panels.

The building was designed to create a community within East London offering 248 rental loft apartments, three rooftop gardens and bars, two restaurants and a beautiful hotel, The Stratford. The building even featured on BBC's The Apprentice with candidates tasked to sell these high-end homes. The stunning gardens are carved out of the building itself with the impressive use of two differing cantilevers. Our timber panelling clads the underside of these overhanging levels whilst helping to bring life to the simply beautiful outdoor space.Spectacular Design Inside & OutDesigned by Skidmore Owings & Merrill for the Manhattan Loft Corporation the spectacular building sits 143m high covering a total of 38,225m². Overlooking the Olympic Park, the building's community helps to keep the vibrancy and creativity of this iconic area alive. With live music and cocktail masterclasses, creative workshops and yoga being just a few of the events here, residents, guests and locals are all invited to enjoy the buzz of the Manhattan Loft Gardens. Thanks to the positioning of the building’s double cantilevers, residents are only ever eight stories from a relaxing open space with unobstructed views across London. The sky gardens on the 25th and 36th floors feature wildflower gardens, BBQ zones and bar areas to dance the night away, all accompanied by plentiful natural timber. Inside, there is even a gym fitted out with the latest TechnoGym equipment. The exterior of the building is focused on nature, featuring wildflowers, water features, cedar pathways and pine trees, while the interior offers a breath-taking contrast. The entrance lobby is pierced by a stunning seven-storey glass atrium and features a beautiful 10m high fireplace. The apartments themselves are equally memorable with a collection of unique single and double-height loft apartments, all with rich oak flooring, bespoke furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows. Why Western CedarWestern Red Cedar was perfect for this project as it offers a wide range of patterns, width, and thickness, creating real flexibility and individuality in design. When properly finished and maintained, cedar will hold its beautiful appearance for decades, complimenting such a high-end build.Despite all efforts at imitation, no man-made product can match the performance qualities of Western Red Cedar. It is often chosen for buildings which require an attractive appearance, superior performance, and resistance to weather conditions. What's more, Western Red Cedar has the least impact on the environment throughout its life cycle. It requires significantly less energy to produce than man-made alternatives and is biodegradable. Our cedar is responsibly and sustainably harvested in the publicly managed forests of British Columbia, Canada. Less than 1% of standing timber is harvested each year and for each tree harvested, three are replanted to ensure our forests continue to exist. This eco-friendly material is the perfect partner for the Manhattan Loft Gardens. As well as being a haven of luxury, the building is kind to the planet. As its major structural elements are exposed there's no need for additional finishes, reducing the volume of material needed for its production, lowering its overall carbon emissions.
