Kingspan Insulation

The three-storey structure designed by FaulknerBrowns, includes library and exhibition space, IT suite, 3D printers, and café. The development, completed in October 2016, is part of a £100 million regeneration masterplan which partners South Tyneside Council with Muse Developments. Creating a curved structure can pose a challenge, but the Kingspan TEK Cladding Panel was successfully engineered to provide a smooth, highly insulated exterior envelope. To achieve this, the structural insulated panels (SIPs) were designed and factory cut into narrow widths. This allowed them to be quickly and easily fixed to the concrete frame.

Creating caption stands for Beaulieu Museum using RecoStakes

GCL Products Ltd

Providing relevant information in a short, concise and easy-to-read way is vital for museums and events when displaying items such as sculptures, historic artefacts or displays. This is why ensuring you create the perfect caption in front of your display is of the utmost importance to provide all of the relevant information without visitors losing interest or missing the caption completely.About The ProjectThis case study highlights the application of RecoStakes at Beaulieu Museum for their Sculpture at Beaulieu 2023 event. This event showcases the remarkable work of over 57 renowned sculptors and runs from June 17th to September 24th. Beaulieu Museum aimed to provide their visitors with perfectly positioned sculpture captions and sought an attractive, durable and long-lasting solution."We hold a sculpture exhibition every other year at Beaulieu, here in the New Forest. Whilst Beaulieu is best known for the world-famous National Motor Museum, it is also the home of Palace House, the Montagu family's ancestral home. The exhibition features 300 sculptures in Palace House and throughout its grounds and gardens.""We wanted to enhance the exhibition this year with captions for each of the sculptures, displaying the sculpture name, artist and a QR code taking the visiting through to a dedicated webpage with more information. The outdoor captions needed to be at a height and angle that made it easy for the visitor to read. We considered using wood, but from experience these haven't lasted well from year to year. Metal posts were too expensive.""One of the team then came across GCL Products and your RecoStake and thought with some adaptation that they could work. We bought a couple of samples of the grey 60cm stake and mocked up a caption by chop sawing a 45-degree angle on the top of the post and mounting with two screws a backboard onto the post. We then printed each caption on a black die-bond board and stuck it to the caption post." - Rachael at Beaulieu Enterprises LtdWhat Are RecoStakes?RecoStakes, part of our lawn edging fixings collection, are made entirely from recycled plastic waste generated by consumers. These premium fixings are meticulously designed and crafted to be used alongside RecoEdge edging rolls. They offer robust, durable, weatherproof, and easy-to-install solutions for creating attractive separations between different landscaped areas. The unique attributes of RecoStakes, derived from their use of recycled plastic waste, made them an ideal choice for Beaulieu Museum and their sculpture caption stands. The 600mm RecoStakes provided the museum with sturdy and reliable stands at the desired height. Moreover, they can be reused for future events, thereby reducing costs. Conclusion"With these tests being a success, we installed circa 200 of these posts in the final days of installation, and they are looking great and lasting well. We are confident given the materials they are made from that they will last for several exhibitions to come." - Rachael at Beaulieu Enterprises LtdWe are thrilled to witness the successful and innovative implementation of RecoStakes at Beaulieu Museum. Our thanks go to Rachael and the team for selecting our recycled plastic stakes to create captivating captions and for sharing photos of their remarkable event. We are confident it will be a resounding success. If you have any enquiries regarding our product range, please don't hesitate to contact us. A Historic Slate Installation Fit for Leaders of the World at the G7 Summit

A Historic Slate Installation Fit for Leaders of the World at the G7 Summit

Cupa Pizarras

CUPA PIZARRAS has been specified across a major development and refurbishment at Tregenna Castle. The company’s products were selected for their ability to endure extreme local weather and provide an exceptionally long lifespan.Delivering spectacular views of the St Ives coastline, the Castle Approach Estate is a new collection of lodges built in the grounds of the historic Tregenna Castle Resort.Looking to complete the exclusive lodges, roofing contractor, Summit Roofing Solutions utilised a number of CUPA PIZARRAS’ products. Likewise, the project team also chose to use the company’s natural slate to complete a renovation of Tregenna Castle’s original roof. The lodges and castle are subject to difficult coastal conditions, including extreme winds and sea spray. As such, the project team needed access to roofing solutions that could deliver long-lasting, durable performance. Likewise, given Tregenna Castle’s status as a Grade II listed property, the team had to ensure that any selected products were able to deliver a traditional aesthetic, whilst still providing modern performance. Fortunately, CUPA PIZARRAS natural slate was able to meet all the desired criteria. Therefore, roofs on the lodges at Tregenna Estate exclusively used CUPA PIZARRAS’ 400mm x 200mm CUPA 12 natural slates, fixed using 100mm stainless steel hooks that were also produced and supplied by CUPA PIZARRAS.Notably, Summit Roofing Solutions was able to install the natural slate as a closed mitred hip system. In doing so, the project team ensured that all slates lined up perfectly with one another, which is only possible on account of the products’ uniform size and quality. This was particularly important on the lodges, where sections of roof were stepped down in certain locations and visible from ground level. Speaking on the project at Tregenna Estate, Adam Palmer, Company Owner of Summit Roofing Solutions commented: “Upon receiving the brief, we recognized that CUPA PIZARRAS’ solutions could help us to meet all key project goals. What’s more, the company helped us to overcome logistical challenges.”Following project completion, the Tregenna Estate played host to key stakeholders attending the G7 Summit in Cornwall, including the Prime Minister and US President Joe Biden. In anticipation of the event, enhanced security provisions were put in place on the site, which made the logistical side of the project more difficult.Thankfully, through its extensive distribution network, CUPA PIZARRAS was able to devise a well-considered delivery and logistics plan to ensure that supplies could reach the project team at critical times.CUPA 12 was chosen for this prestigious project as it is a high quality dark grey slate with a smooth finish. With a life span of more than one hundred years and very little maintenance required, natural slate is a durable, weatherproof product, un-matched by artificial alternatives. CUPA 12 has also received approval from Snowdonia National Park as a Welsh Slate alternative and has been certified by BRE Global as A+ for its quality, transparency, and sustainability credentials. Absorb-R GypLine αw at Treasures Gallery, Parkinson Building, Leeds

Soundis

Leeds University required a New Permanent Exhibition Gallery, and a Changing Exhibits Gallery, both of which would be supplemented with a Public Engagement Seminar Gallery in the University’s iconic Parkinson Building, which fronts onto Woodhouse Lane. Each of these galleries are susceptible to dramatically increased reverberation and echo noise problems once they start filling up with visitors, so a sound absorption solution was investigated and proposed by the Architect. The solution specified was a monolithic suspended raft ceiling rather than fabric wall panels or hanging.Soundis supplied and UK Acoustic Systems installed convex and concave Absorb-R GypLine αw. Absorb-R GypLine αw provided a coverage of 130 sq metres, offering high levels of sound absorption to each gallery, but also more importantly left the walls clear of panels and the ceilings without visible acoustic baffles, providing virtually seamless surfaces. This system was perfectly suited for the Treasures Gallery as it was able to provide an aesthetic finish and solution to improve the experience of the visitors in the galleries.“Vice-Chancellor Sir Alan Langlands said: “We are incredibly proud of our Library with its Special Collections of international importance which have been built up over the past century.”

Lonsdale Patent Glazing & Rooflights

The Egyptian Gallery was the first of many projects at the Museum to benefit from a replacement duo-pitch rooflight using Lonsdale’s ThermGard Roof Light System. After having procured roof lanterns of varying quality and with disappointing results from different manufacturers, the Client was determined to establish a design that met their very high criteria for thermal performance and protection of the priceless exhibits from damaging UV light. Whilst wanting the benefits of modern aluminium systems, there was a requirement for a ‘heritage’ appearance so that any replacement roof lanterns mirrored the original timber construction. High performance solar control glass was also specified to reduce harmful UV light to the exhibits below. Solar protection was further enhanced by the fitting of external shading blinds to the overhead glazing which produce the slightly ‘eerie’ affect that can be seen in this image. Such was the success of this initial project, the Client has held Lonsdale as the benchmark by which other roof light manufacturers are measured and we repay this loyalty by ensuring a first class job every time.
