A striking run of washroom superloos in an unusual dark oak and bronze design to complement the Art Deco building. The full height Alto toilet cubicles were finished using engineered oak in a natural fumed oak veneer with 20 per cent sheen lacquer for a shiny finish that is also hardwearing and easy to clean without concealing the natural grain of the wood. Each cubicle includes its own bespoke vanity unit with square countertop basins set on a floating shelf and were completed with veneered vanity under panels and wall panels stained to match the toilet cubicle doors.

We installed our Mezzo toilet cubicles, manufactured in white solid grade laminate (SGL) with satin anodised aluminium curved pilasters, at this popular London music venue as part of an extensive refurbishment. The bright white SGL cubicles doors and partitions were designed to highlight the striking, unique artwork on the Concerto duct panels installed behind the wall-hung WC pans in each cubicle. Manufactured from highly durable SGL, the duct panels each feature a different digitally printed graphic. All the graphics were specially designed by the architect to reflect the personality and style of The Borderline.

As part of the project all the Alto toilet cubicle doors and partitions at this Mayfair office were wrapped using innovative architectural film in a dark slate grey textured ash veneer finish - provided as part of Washroom's Refresh Service. As well as being environmentally-friendly and quick to install, architectural film is also extremely hardwearing and durable so will further prolong the lifecycle of the toilet cubicles. The sleek dark wood veneer finish is just one of more than one thousand different architectural films available to choose from including wood, metal, marble, leather and stone.

As part of this refurbishment, we installed our toughened glass Luminoso shower cubicles, specified in a striking blue to complement Boom Cycle’s brand identity and high energy interior design. The full height shower cubicles were manufactured using 10mm clear float toughened glass for the doors, pilasters and division panels and are set on a stainless steel tubular headrail with matching stainless steel pedestal feet. Each cubicle was finished with double swing hinges, which are self-closing from 25 degrees, stainless steel clothes hooks and a stainless steel pull handle towel rail to the outside.

Since opening in 1993, the Corner House Nursery in Sheffield has expanded from a 22 place nursery to a 127 place nursery offering childcare for children aged 6 months to 4 years. Faye Puzzovio, an Interior Architect and Financial and Business Manager at the nursery, wanted to celebrate the 20 year anniversary by completing the latest stage of refurbishment in the nursery. Faye chose Bushboard’s Tiny Stuff toilet cubicle range; safe, fun and reliable nursery toilet cubicles, designed specifically for infant and nursery school children, with anti finger trap hinges, crescent pilasters and curved doors.

The British Museum opened its doors in 1759. Now home to some 8 million works from a number of different cultures, the museum stands as an iconic London attraction. The Museum made the decision in November 2013 to replace the restaurant’s old flooring, as it could no longer handle the vast number of visitors. W B Simpson Ltd, was the chosen tiling contractor to complete the new installation. Marc Poland, Director at W B Simpson Ltd said “The architect consulting on this project specified we use ARDEX UK’s products. Their high performance adhesives are typically the preferred choice of architects.”

The University of Birmingham School was the first academy free secondary school to be assigned to a particular university. This is a new model of education, bringing together the best of university research and teaching best practice in secondary education. Technal aluminium windows were specified for this project in a 210mm high module to achieve the required available air flow and light transmission. Aluminium Commercial Doors were specified to achieve robustness and increased thermal insulation. Aluminium Curtain Walling was also used to deliver more natural light into the project without sacrificing weather performance, thermal insulation and ease of fabrication. 

University Arms Hotel, the oldest hotel in Cambridge, dates from the 1840s when it first opened as a coaching inn. Extensions followed in the 1930s an 1960s; but in 2013 John Simpson Architects began returning cohesion and grandeur to the building. The aim was 190 bedrooms boasting 5-star luxury. We were proud to be awarded the 14-month contract to design, supply and install 300 timber box sash windows, 50 balcony French doors, and 28 curved-on-plan sash windows. We also produced large bespoke entrance screens, and undertook the restoration of leaded light glass.

A Midlands-based housing association turned to Crown Trade Fastflow to deliver a splash of colour, with a low odour application and fast-drying times for the comfort and convenience of residents. Lyng Community Association, a not-for-profit organisation, brought in Crown Paints to specify the pioneering water-based system for the redecoration of corridors in three blocks of flats in West Bromwich. Doors, window sills and skirting boards were decorated with Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss, over Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat. The work was carried out by Hankinson Painting Contractors from their West Bromwich site.

Modern, light, open, inviting – this is the new look of the office rooms at Warren Wixen Real Estate in Los Angeles. The same applies to the solution developed by architects HLW International LLP in cooperation with Pulp Studio. Glass from floor to ceiling – not only a functionally convincing approach but also a concept with a high degree of aesthetic appeal. Pulp Studio's recommendation of using the Interzum award-winning HAWA Puro 100–150 hardware for all-glass sliding doors defined the perfect solution. Concealed suspension made it possible to achieve the ideal of "glass from floor to ceiling".

Allgäuer Rosenalp is a hotel committed to tradition. The proprietors remained true to their principles during the refurbishment, subtly adding modern, stylish elements to the authentic ambience. The Allgäuer Rosenalp quite literally received a facelift in two short months. The hotel was refurbished and extended. The roof was raised to create 17 new rooms and apartments on the fourth and fifth floors with views stretching across Oberstaufen and the Steibinger Nagelfluhkette. Interior contractors Philipp Haas & Söhne used symmetrically opening wooden doors separating bedroom and living area. They open/close effortlessly thanks to HAWA Symmetric 80 Z hardware.

Breakers Beach Bar & Restaurant, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The construction of an upmarket beach bar and restaurant, Breakers Beach House, part of the Grand Hotel Huis Ter Duin. Set amongst the dunes and facing the North Sea, the building was designed to be sympathetic to the environment but required the use of materials that could withstand the elements without requiring frequent maintenance. Accoya Wood was used for windows, doors, cladding, railings, trusses, mullions and planters. “We are delighted with the end result which meets our expectations and those of our customer.” Eline van Leeuwen, Director, Van Leeuwen kozijnen.

This lovely Wimbledon house has been transformed to meet the demands of today’s lifestyle. The house was completely refurbished and included a rear extension as well as pushing up the attic to create maximum living space.Traditional wooden windows were used for the front and main elevations in a crisp mint green colour. IQ Glass sliding and pocket doors together with Crittall-style glazing were installed in the extended living areas.Grants Blinds designed, specified, and supplied Blindspace concealment products where possible and used Silent Gliss blinds and curtain products for the main installations.

Uxbridge's largest ever luxury commercial space is a monumental 324,630 sq ft. Radii AG was approached by dn-a architecture and Bowmer and Kirkland with the task of designing and installing a five-story central atrium with additional fire-solutions. Radii AG offered a streamlined design to ensure a stunning appearance with a time-conscious installation. Linear 27 was used with 40dB Rw toughened laminated glass for the atrium.This helped create the 100-meter long 'street' that ran along the heart of the building. FireStop E30 single-glazed partitioning screens, with FireTec doorsets and automated sliding doors were also installed.

British clothing company, Boden, found the perfect location in Leicester, to expand their warehouse and contact centre.With a fashionable interior at the forefront of architect, Spacelab’s, mind, LOFT20 provided the ideal solution. A fantastic alternative to slim framed office partitioning, LOFT20 was used throughout the interior, from meeting rooms, to the break-out spaces.Where fire rated partitioning screens and doors were needed, FireClear was the obvious solution, being fully compatible with LOFT20. Achieving E30 fire rating, FireClear had mullions and transoms applied, in the same width and colour as LOFT20, to provide seamless integration throughout the design.

Storm Model Management is renowned for finding, developing and managing careers for some of the world's top modelling talent. In the heart of the London office, on a polished concrete floor, Planet Partitioning created a striking stadium meeting room using p20 curved glass at both ends and linear joints between the partitioning to ensure a crystal clear, flawless, flush finish. By curving the partitioning channels carefully and then manufacturing and engineering the glass to fit, Planet achieved an excellent curved glass partitioning effect. Eclipse sliding doors were used for the lobby area, ensuring a seamless look throughout the space.

Products from Johnstone’s Trade’s portfolio have created a lasting impression on patients at a state-of-the-art, 24-bed dementia unit in Sunderland. Helping a Gateshead-based decorating contractor win a prestigious Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Award. Thousands of litres of Johnstone’s Covaplus Vinyl Matt, Premium Contract Matt and Acrylic Eggshell were used throughout the unit by the decorators during a tight four-month timescale. The paint was used on corridors, offices, washrooms, stairwells, lounges, dining areas and doors throughout the unit, all of which now boast bold, fresh looks.

When Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS trust approached us, they required new doorsets as their existing double-leaf corridor doors with surface mounted, scissor-arm closers were presenting a ligature risk and were regularly over-opened, causing damage. Plus, the leaves were vandalised, requiring regular repainting. We supplied our extra-wide, single-leaf doorsets with concealed hold-open closers, offering superior safety by reducing the ligature risk. We also used a vandal-resistant PVC facing to brighten the space and minimise regular maintenance costs.

Torrance Park Golf Club is set in the beautiful moorland of North Lanarkshire. A bespoke design was required for the lockers due to the unique size requirements of a golf course and our Marathon Wet Glass Lockers achieve this. Manufactured with 10mm Toughened Glass doors and a robust aluminium carcass, the lockers cater perfectly for the members golf equipment without compromising quality or finish. Our award winning Cabrillant cubicles continued the use of glass into the changing facilities in the form of showers. These are complimented by our Marathon System D WC cubicles, duct panelling, vanity units and bench seating

Stratford, the latest location for the Gymbox family. It is a melting pot of fitness insanity with London's most unique classes, DJs, Personal Trainers and the very best equipment and changing facilities. Prospec has long-standing working relationship with respected interior design practice Ben Kelly Design whose Design Director Patrick McKinney is the visionary for the dynamic interior. Using a vibrant colour pallet on the Cabrillant 600 glass cubicles and glass lockers, a mirrored finish to a number of the doors, plus the innovative use of strip lighting between the banks gives the changing areas an urban nightclub feel.

Recognised by Ofsted as an Outstanding school, Lyons Hall’s success had resulted in the need for a new teaching block to meet the demand for extra places. The first phase required school toilets for the Early Years pupils and for washroom solutions for general use. As an existing client of Venesta washrooms, Award Winning RIBA Chartered Architects, Laurie Wood Assoicates, were confident of our ability to meet the standards set. The Grade II listed building where 19th century novelist Jane Austen spent her last days, was restored to its former glory. The SC4 decorators used a host of Johnstone’s products to restore the property. In keeping to the original colour, the robust Johnstone’s Stormshield Smooth Masonry paint in County Cream was used for rendering. Stormshield Flexible Primer Undercoat, together with Flexible Gloss in French Lime achieved an impressive finish for the door of the house. Additionally, Johnstone’s Primer was used to freshen up window frames and sills. Lastly, Stormshield Flexible Gloss was applied for a premium finish.

Completed in 2014, the 317,000 sq ft, 18-storey Aldgate Tower is home to some of the “world’s most pioneering companies” including WeWork, Uber and Groupon. Located on the corner of Whitechapel High Street and Commercial Street, Aldgate Tower is no normal office. The 16 floors of Grade A office space above are 100% let to high profile tenants so the entrance must work hard to ensure the reception maintains its aesthetic appeal. After an 11-month refurbishment, Odeon Luxe Leicester Square has reopened its doors as the UK’s first Dolby cinema. Bronze anodised INTRAform Low Profile combined with graduating tones of grey and blue INTRAlux Elite in a stunning chevron design creates a striking first impression and echoes the building’s art deco features. Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter is run by Exeter Leisure and boasts a Gym, Swimming Pool, Health Suite, Sports Hall, Squash Courts and more. Following Helmsman’s work with Exeter City Council on the changing rooms at St Sidwell’s Point Leisure Centre, we were asked to return to Exeter for some repair work at the Riverside Leisure Centre.Whilst Helmsman had not fitted the original lockers and locks, our service department are equipped to help with repairs and replacements for lockers and other products provided and/or fitted by other manufacturers. The Riverside Leisure Centre lockers had a number of faulty digital locks, and so we recommended a new lock that would stand the test of time.Our team removed 290 doors and re-drilled to fix the new Ojmar OTS Advanced RFID locks. The existing doors with new locks were then re-fixed to the lockers. The new locks allow users to open or close lockers by simply pressing a proximity media: card, bracelet or Wellness® key against the doorknob. With a high battery life and vandal proof design, this lock is the perfect choice for a leisure centre changing rooms.It was great to be invited back by Exeter City Council and highlights the high quality of work Helmsman provided at St Sidwell’s Point. The Project Renovation of the community centre has been made possible with the support of funders, volunteers, local businesses and charitable trusts.Around £1.2m has been raised to repair, refurbish and extend the building.The centre will cater for the needs of the positive, vibrant and diverse community coming through the doors.The ChallengeThe project was managed by the church and community inclusion was a key driver on this project.Parishioners, local businesses and the community on the whole are extremely proud of their roots and keen to celebrate them.The local woodland was chosen for the finish on the cubicles and photographs were taken and used to create a digital laminate.The challenge for the photographer was getting the right shot. The washroom space is actually quite small in the centre. The SolutionThe diversity of the community enabled the centre to be creative when designing the washrooms and drawing on the beauty of the local area they decided to install not only a Grade A system but chose a serene digital print which is both innovative and thought provoking. Castlebrae Community Campus officially opened its doors in Spring 2022. The new 700 capacity secondary school, which has the potential to be increased to 1,200, was constructed next to the East Neighbourhood Centre and Library (a project Metal Technology also delivered for Hub South East Scotland).Designed by JM Architects and delivered by Morrison Construction, this fantastic new building for The City of Edinburgh Council provides an exciting, inspirational and creative learning hub for the community. It forms one of the final pieces of a 20 yearlong regeneration project to improve housing stock and community facilities in the area. The development was very much a collaborative design, with numerous workshops and meetings to engage the community in the process.The relationship between the interior and exterior of the building was crucial, developing a holistic approach to improve the learning, attainment and health and wellbeing of the community. Metal Technology Ltd supplied its System 4-35Hi+ top hung windows, System 17 curtain walling, System 5-20D Hi+ doors and System 23 louvres and were manufactured and installed by approved fabricator Avtek Ltd.The project has been shortlisted for the following awards: Pupil/Student Experience and Inspiring Learning Spaces at the Education Estates Awards taking place on 18th Oct and Inspiring Learning Spaces at the Learning Places Scotland Awards taking place on 15th Nov.Word has it that the pupils are greatly enjoying and benefiting from their wonderful new learning space and environment – what it’s all about! The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) is a group of industry-led manufacturing R&D, innovation and skills facilities supported by a network of Partners across Scotland, all working together to transform the future of manufacturing and provide an innovative and multi-use hub that brings together Scotland’s brightest minds in industry, academia and the public sector.The design of the space focuses on collaboration, with a variety of private spaces specified to create areas for focused work and larger group meetings in turn.Planet, working through our northern contracting team, joined the project to provide our expertise in the design, manufacture and installation of a number of our glass partition screens and door solutions to meet the interior design by architects HLM.The standout contribution to this project was the use of Planet’s PURE20XL (38dB Rw) extended screens to produce glass meeting pods, expertly cantilevered to produce an eye-catching ‘floating’ effect. Access to the pods was provided by Planet’s high acoustic performance IsoPro glazed pivoting doors (42dB Rw). Our popular single-glazed PURE20 (38dB Rw) and double-glazed PURE100 (54dB Rw) frameless partitions were utilised for the fronts for many of the meeting rooms and laboratories — along with tech panels to house integrated room booking systems — while some extended PURE100XL screens was placed on the void edge of the digital seminar rooms.Finally, structural atrium glazing facilitated the passage of natural light deep into the internal space — perfect for the inspirational innovative environment NMIS aims to provide to its users.

This project was undertaken for a global financial services company with a long and distinguished pedigree. One of the world’s most recognisable investment management brands, it has offices in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia.As leading innovators in the design and manufacture of adaptable and reusable solid and glazed partitions, Radii were a perfect fit for this project.We designed a series of systems based on three of our existing Linear 30 single-glazed partitions (Rw 40 dB) and our Parallel 50 and 100  double-glazed partitions (Rw 45 & 50 dB), combined with Hogan pivot doors throughout.To accommodate deflection, we created a bespoke blind box detail capable of a +/- 15mm lateral movement. We also created new extrusions to achieve a +/-59mm deflection, used to deal with vertical movement in isolated locations.Installation of our system was complex because of the variety of partitions used, combined with physical variations between storeys. This meant we had to survey every part of the building separately to ensure our partitions and doors fit perfectly. We co-ordinated with other trades to ensure installation was exactly as required.We began this major fit-out in January 2023 and completed it within 20 weeks – well within schedule. The final partition systems exceeded the prescribed acoustic ratings, while the overall project achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and LEED ‘Gold’ ratings. We were delighted to be awarded with a contractor rating of 9.9 out of 10 for what was a very complex and demanding design and installation.

Named the 3Ts as it includes trauma, tertiary and teaching care. Visionary architects and long-term client, BDP specified our INTRAflex XT systems with integrated Waterlogic drainage for the first stage - the main entrance building, The Louisa Martindale Building. Approximately eight by ten metres, the Entrance Mat extends from a covered external area, through a large revolving door, side doors and into the internal lobby. Performance was the main objective as the building welcomes over 100,000 patients a year, plus staff and visitors for seven theatres, 15 isolation suites, 28 wards and service departments.Focusing on FunctionalityAs a premier healthcare setting, functionality was paramount. The Entrance Mat efficiently removes water and dirt to prevent slips and keeps visitors safe. The zone 1, external section of the Entrance Mat uses INTRAflex XT with an open construction over the INTRAmatting Waterlogic drainage system to remove rainwater and dirt efficiently (it holds 75 litres per m2 which is then channelled into a waste water drainage system). Combined with hard-wearing and weatherproof rubber inserts, it scrubs and scrapes off large dirt particles before traffic meets the zone 2. From the large revolving door into the lobby, INTRAflex XT is used in its closed construction format, with fibre inserts, for greater comfort and further moisture absorption. A Higher StandardAnother key consideration was strength. The building's multiple-floor-height entrance is fully glazed with services installed at height. Specific access equipment and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) help maintain the building, so we checked their details to ensure the Entrance Mat could efficiently handle the load stress. The Waterlogic system is extremely strong, and we construct it with reinforced supports so that the chosen matting can easily cope with extreme loads. Manufactured to perfectly fit the matwell, the Waterlogic base curves around the 5m wide revolving door. Considering AccessibilityServing such a variety of people with specific needs, accessibility was another important part of the specification. BDP chose materials and finishes for DDA compliance. We have Light Reflecting Values (LRV) for each of our products, so BDP could easily choose which materials were best for contrasting with other flooring and building substrates.We test all our Entrance Matting products for slip ratings, and to ensure that they are wheel and heel proof. The zone 2, internal performance Entrance Matting is a closed construction with fibre inserts to scrape and remove finer debris. The dirt retained in the matting is easy to remove with regular vacuuming as part of the hospital’s stringent cleaning regime.A Proven Healthcare PartnerHealthcare settings have their own specific challenges and demand high standards for Entrance Matting. Located next to the Old Bailey, England's most famous court, New Ludgate consists of two buildings which provide 35,210sqm of commercial office, retail, and restaurant space. Both buildings have distinctive designs and roof terraces with great views of St Paul's Cathedral. Project: Full ironmongery package for the whole project, which included the laminate door sets’ schedules and a specialist package to cover the reception fit out and stair cores. We also supplied ironmongery for the washroom package. Awards: City of London New building Award, LEAF Developer Project of the Year, International Architecture Award, NLA Award (shortlisted).

The Birmingham New Street refurbishment completely re-imagined the Pallasades shopping centre situated above the station. SAS designed, supplied and installed several bespoke metal ceilings specified for the lower retail area within the mall: A mall link feature installed below glass reinforced gypsum features in the mall’s access areas.A lozenge shaped, metal can ceiling with integrated lighting, a slatted SAS700 linear ceiling and SAS320 alongside linear grilles. The aim was to create an ideal meeting place which would serve as a gateway to Birmingham. A massive 50 million people are expected through the door each year.

A new SuRNICC unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital provides care for premature and sick newborn babies. The design follows the latest neonatal healthcare standards and principles of family-centred care. In clinical areas the Acrovyn impact protection range was specified. Graphics depicting trees and butterflies, incorporated into Acrovyn by Design, were fitted in cot rooms, waiting and play areas, to brighten the environment. Acrovyn Sheet was used on door faces and frames, whilst crashrails and corner guards protect corridor walls from impact damage. The comprehensive wall protection scheme ensures the interior remains attractive, damage free and easy to maintain.

The legacy PVC-U windows, doors and curtain walling at 15 high and low-rise blocks owned by Bristol City Council at Eastville, Easton, Clifton, Redcliffe, Shirehampton and Ashton Gate needed to be replaced to improve thermal efficiency, security and aesthetics. An experienced company was required to carry out the complex, high profile, multi-phase works required. The contract was awarded to longstanding Profile 22 Approved Window Manufacturer Emplas. The Optima 70mm fully reversible window system provides high security locking, child resistant safety catches and achieves a weather performance of 2400pa for wind, 1500pa for water and 600pa for air.
