Here at Helmsman, our team manufactured and installed 25 three-compartment Laminate Lockers, in our wet spec which helps the material not to rust, peel, or crack under humidity. The specifications of the laminate lockers were 1800mm high, 278mm wide, and 450mm deep. The body of the lockers was powder coated in the shade of ice’ whereas the laminate doors and end panels were in the beautiful ‘English Oak’ by BioCarbon Laminates. BioCarbon is a company that provides laminates that focus on reducing carbon. Laminate lockers are an excellent choice when it comes to commercial office lockers as they allow employees to store personal belongings in a secure area.The Solid-grade Laminate lockers were completed with vinyl numbers above the locks which were the Diamond Hasp locks, for users to use their own padlocks. It is a great choice as the users will be assured that their personal belongings are safe within the locker.

Helmsman worked to manufacture, deliver, and install Fully Framed cubicles, bespoke Front Line cubicles (including the ability to remove the door in an emergency) and our popular Leisure Lockers, as well as IPS panels and vanity units.Front Line and Fully Framed cubicles were manufactured in solid grade laminate from a selection of suppliers. With laminate from Formica in colour Storm, Greenlam in colour Blue Galaxy and Abet in colour Pearl Grey with matching Leisure Lockers in Formica’s Storm and Abet’s Pearl Grey.Also included in the project were security key coin return locks by Ojmar, metal IPS panels and solid-grade laminate vanity units.The Helensburgh Leisure Centre project has recently received an “Excellent” rating in a recent Audit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).For more information, contact us on 01284 530427 or contact us at enquiries@helmsman.co.uk

Radii joined the fit-out for this asset management company’s new European headquarters in mid-2022, working for approximately 20 weeks to deliver our high-end commercial solutions for 179 offices and meeting spaces across Levels 1 to 4 of the 88,000 sq ft site.Curved double glazed Parallel 50 (45dB Rw) partitions were manufactured and installed by Radii for a number of meeting rooms fronts, while single glazed Linear 25 (41 dB Rw) and double glazed Parallel 100 (50dB Rw) were also deployed to match the variety of acoustic requirements. Mesh glass was used in places on Levels 2 to 4 to provide extra privacy around reception and lounge areas respectively.Partitions were complemented with smoked dark European oak timber veneered doors throughout the space.

The city of Osnabrück has made the entrance to the Weigh House on the market square accessible. The heavy wooden doors now open automatically, and with the help of a platform lift, wheelchair users are now also able to access the room used for wedding ceremonies in the historic building with ease.Remodelling the historic building cost 90,000 euro and took three months to complete. The building (constructed in 1532), which is used by the registry office, is now completely accessible – just in time for wedding season. Over 600 wedding ceremonies are held in the Weigh House each year.“A project close to the heart”A platform lift has been installed, which is not only easy to operate, but also looks elegant. The platform lift can be completely lowered into the floor. A touch of a button is all that’s required to access the foyer via the stairs. The Lord Mayor Wolfgang Griesert describes it as “elegant and discreet”.

Back in 1961, this hotel claimed the title of ‘Tallest Hotel in London’ spanning across 18 floors but now its been vastly beaten by The Shard at 73 floors.However, that won’t stop The Carlton Tower, Jumeirah from undergoing a £100 million renovation, lasting nearly 2 years. The Hotel changed the entire interior but left the exterior untouched. All areas were remodeled with a new foyer, reception, Italian restaurant, health club, and a naturally lit swimming pool. The rooms and suites were reduced by 30, from 216 to 186, to allow for bigger and better accommodations for guests, enticing longer stays. Due to the extensive nature of the refurbishment, it came with its own set of challenges. This was a big project, but added to the fact that it’s an old building, lead to the discovery of things that the team were unaware of, creating extra hurdles and more time. The works also took place during covid which delayed the construction due to supply issues and lockdown and even after the construction was complete, covid still took its toll on the company when they struggled to hire more staff and even find guests to stay because of the limitations on travel. The Carlton Tower needed bespoke riser doors with wallpaper to match what was on the walls in the corridors which we were able to provide them with after extensive testing, as is the case for all our products. The subtle nature of the concealed riser doors allows them to seamlessly blend in with the surroundings for a flush look making them hardly noticeable.The interior design was carried out by 1508 London, bringing pops of colour, and soft, curved edges to the original clean, modernist style. The hotel features a mix of traditional and modern interiors with architraves, and panel detailing, and a touch of Scandinavian modern furniture. Situated in the heart of Knightsbridge, guests will be surrounded by luxury in every way. Just a stones throw away from the iconic Harrods Department Store and Sloane Street, which holds some of the worlds most luxurious brands like Prada, Armani, and Cartier.

A global leader in world finance, the UK head offices of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (BNY Mellon), located in the prestigious 160 Queen Victoria Street building (160 QVS), London, have been recently refurbished. Partitioning expert Style was contracted to inject a high level of flexibility into the space, encouraging a positive environment by allowing the easy creation of personal work areas, divided meeting rooms and brainstorming hotspots. In the Thames Room, a large C-shaped Dorma Hüppe Variflex glass moveable wall offers 52dB acoustics, fully glazed pass doors and a stylish crittall-effect. Whilst Style’s unique working walls are installed in the Innovation Centre. Finished in a striking blue painted glass, the individual panels spin and slide along ceiling tracks, allowing freedom to segment the space into a wide variety of configurations. Elsewhere, a 59dB semi-automatic Dorma Hüppe Variflex solid moveable wall finished in contemporary fabric-wrapped panels, abuts a fixed glass wall that matches the crittall-effect of the glass Variflex, providing seamless interior design.As the world's largest custodian bank and asset servicing company, BNY Mellon is the main occupier of 160 QVS – a building which occupies an entire block and which actually has four separate postcodes! The newly refitted corporate headquarters comprises of both offices as well as a trading floor, delivering a flagship workplace fit for the future.Working with architects, T P Bennett and contractors ISG, Style was specified to create flexible space at BNY Mellon’s London offices using a blend of solid moveable walls, glass moveable walls and Style’s innovative working walls – designed for agile, collaborative space.“This is a great example of using various types of moveable and working walls to give different types of flexibility in various meeting areas and collaboration zones,” said Michael Porter, sales director at Style South.“It also highlights Style’s key strengths in the market in terms of our working walls and fully glazed pass doors, which are unrivalled and highly unique.”

Heated Lockers at the Innovation Hub, Production Park

Heated Lockers were the focus of Helmsman’s most recent project. We travelled up to South Kirby in Pontefract, Yorkshire to work alongside Triton Construction at the brand-new Innovation Hub at Production Park. Production Park is a unique support environment for the live events industry, uniting technology, creative spaces and education. Their newest venture is the brand-new Innovation Hub, with a large research studio with connected offices and teaching spaces. The new innovation hub features specialist equipment designed to support the live events industry as well as a business support programme focusing on assisting SMEs.In an area off the main entrance lobby, Helmsman installed a set of Wet Specification Heated Lockers. With a mix of 1, 2 and 4 compartments, these lockers are designed with a single or twin tube heater at the bottom of the locker, hidden within the locker stand, and perforations throughout to allow warm and/or damp air to circulate and escape the locker. Triton Construction requested a modern, heavy duty laminate finish for these heated lockers. The body of the lockers was manufactured from aluminium and powder coated in colour Ice, whilst we used Biocarbon’s Solid Grade Laminate in colour Elegant Grey for the locker doors, end panels and cladding. This laminate is a great choice as it is carbon neutral as well as being moisture resistant and easy to clean, perfect for a semi-public area such as this project. Our heated lockers can either come with a standard 3 pin power plug or can be available with a spur to wire into a fused switch. Triton construction requested a plug which was positioned on the end panel of the bank of lockers.We paired stainless steel numbers recessed into the doors with Lowe and Fletcher camlocks for a seamless finish to the lockers.  This option of lock is simple and cost effective, whilst also safe and secure.It was great to work with Triton Construction on this project and we look forward to hearing about the success of the Innovation Hub at Production Park in the future.
