Fire Curtains to EW120 for 125 Deansgate Manchester UK

Fire Curtains to EW120 for 125 Deansgate Manchester UK

A1 Shutters Ltd

Whilst certainly not the most iconic or largest project the A1S Group has ever been involved with, 125 Deansgate in Manchester in many ways represents for us "a bread and butter project", the like of which we are involved with throughout the UK on an almost monthly basis. Despite the doom and gloom of office rationalisation during the pandemic, high end office new build and cat A and B refurbishment continues to be one of our strongest sectors. We have completed literally hundreds of office projects over the last decade including We Work premises throughout London and the UK, Goldmann Sachs, Barclays at Canary Wharf and Norfolk House in St James Square, London. Fire and smoke curtains continue to be integral to modern office design, allowing for more open spaces within the building's wider fire strategy framework. The A1S Group manufactured, installed 54 Flameshield fire curtains, all with smoke seals and multi function panels. For us, the 125 Deansgate building was noteworthy as it was the first time that we installed our high performance Flameshield EW120 fire curtain to provide a minimum of EW90 compartmentation. We also manufactured and installed our a Flameshield fire and smoke curtain system to provide 120 minutes integrity and 15 kw/m2 to protect the lift and lift shaft. This striking building is clad in a rich red terracotta with 12 storeys of flexible office and retail space all achieving BREEAM 'excellent' and is now considered one of Manchester's premier offices. The A1S Group have a long term planned preventative maintenance in schedule in place to comply with the 2005 Regulatory Reform Order.

Bespoke Aluminium Skylights and Column Casings for Blind Veterans UK

Bespoke Aluminium Skylights and Column Casings for Blind Veterans UK

Aluminium Roofline Products Ltd

This redesigned facade showcases bespoke aluminium skylights, column casings, radius coping, and soffits. These elements flawlessly enhance the contemporary design of the Blind Veterans UK Centre in Rustington, West Sussex. The new centre is an example of the effectiveness of using aluminium as a building material. Its strength, durability, and low maintenance needs make it ideal for projects such as this one, where quality and longevity are essential.Spearheaded by Fowler Building Contractors and carried out by the specialist aluminium guttering and roofline team at County Gutters, the Rustington project prominently features bespoke aluminium column casings, soffits, radius coping, and skylights from Aluminium Roofline Products (ARP).This case study explores how expert installation, durable aluminium fabrications, and innovative design have revitalised this centre. The transformation has resulted in an accessible facility that promotes confidence, independence, and the well-being of its residents.County Gutters surveyed the former home of the RAF Benevolent Fund before sending measurements and drawings to our CAD team.Joe Wheatley of County Gutters worked closely with CAD Design Engineer Reece Mooney to ensure the designs were feasible and achievable. Their combined expertise successfully brought the architects' vision to life.Using high-quality marine-grade powder coating in colours such as Chartwell green, traffic white, and mid-grey, the finished product is visually striking and highly durable. The aluminium fabrications are strong and non-corrosive and require minimal maintenance, making them an ideal choice for a busy facility like the Blind Veterans UK Centre. The ARP team designed, manufactured and finished production in just a few weeks, with installation starting four weeks after receiving the order from County Gutters. This quick turnaround allowed the project to be completed on time and within budget, ensuring minimal disruption for Blind Veterans UK.In addition to the practical benefits, using aluminium in this project also aligns with the centre's commitment to sustainability. Aluminium is highly recyclable, making it a sustainable choice for construction projects. The Blind Veterans UK Centre continues to provide much-needed support and services to veterans with visual impairments. The innovative design and use of durable aluminium fabrications have revitalised the facility and contributed to its mission of promoting independence and a high quality of life for its residents. The final result is a stunning new centre that provides crucial services to blind veterans in need. The open floor plan, made possible by removing walls and pillars, promotes accessibility for all residents. The modern design also features impressive aluminium fabrications that enhance the overall aesthetic of the building. The circular column casings had to be custom-made to fit the curved design of the concrete pillars, showcasing aluminium's versatility and bespoke capabilities as a building material. The Trueline Z plank soffit and radius coping add unique architectural details while providing long-lasting protection against weather elements.ARP takes great pride in being involved in this project, designing and manufacturing custom-made aluminium fabrications that proudly adorn the façade of this magnificent beachfront building. The Rustington Centre was recently featured on BBC's The One Show. Presenter Amar Latif had the opportunity to visit the centre and meet two remarkable veterans, 100-year-old Ken and 100-year-old Nancy. They discussed the move from their former home to the new purpose-built centre and how it has positively impacted their lives. The Blind Veterans UK Rustington Centre is a truly invaluable resource for blind veterans, and we are honoured to have contributed to its new home in West Sussex. If you're considering aluminium for your next building project, ARP can provide bespoke fabrications to enhance any design. Contact us today to discuss your requirements and see how we can help make your vision a reality.

The Conduit - A Unique Rooftop Dining Experience

The Conduit - A Unique Rooftop Dining Experience

Caribbean Blinds UK Ltd

The Conduit is an existing client of Caribbean Blinds having used our louvered pergolas at their previous club in Mayfair in 2018. Knowing both the benefits of installing louvered pergolas, providing flexible shade and shelter allowing the terrace to be used all year round, therefore providing an important revenue stream for the business along with a unique dining experience for their discerning members along with the service we offer, the Conduit wanted to replicate this at their new club in Covent Garden, albeit on a much larger scale. The new roof terrace, which was on the 7th floor, had a footprint of approx. 300sq/m. The client wanted to cover 2/3rds of this with pergolas, leaving the remaining 1/3rd completely open. The model was to be our Prestige Pod, which they had previously installed, where the louvered roof not only rotates but fully retracts and when closed is completely watertight. A total cluster of 8 modules were required to cover a surface area of c. 200sq/m. The perimeter edges were equipped with screens to offer protection from the elements to the sides. Additionally screens were inserted along with doorways between certain modules so areas could be zoned off for events and private functions. Each module had infra-red heating and festoon lighting installed to create a cosy and pleasant environment year round.A project of this size, requires clear communication, co-ordination and planning. We worked closely with the architect, designer, contractor and end client at every stage, to ensure a seamless process and journey. Site meetings were held with all parties. Full CAD drawings of the structures, positioning and importantly drainage, wiring and post mounting plate positions, which were highly critical as a steel sub frame had to be fabricated and installed and services run were provided. A dedicated project co-ordinator oversaw the entire project to ensure it run smoothly and on-time and in-budget.Like all roof terrace installations there were many challenges, from working at height to access with a road closure required for this project to allow craning of the goods to the terrace. Manufacture from order sign off for the bespoke pergolas was just 12 weeks, with installation taking 2 weeks, via our own trained teams and all in time for a VIP client 4th July party.Anthony Pollak, Facilities Director for The Conduit commented:“Having had a Caribbean blind pergola installation at our previous property we knew the quality of their products. When the opportunity came from our landlord to give us a substantial area to build a roof terrace we knew that we had to include Caribbean Blinds within the design.Installing the Caribbean Blinds pergolas has enabled us to use our roof terrace all year around. In the summer when the weather is good we can open up the space effortlessly and in the winter when the roof is closed, sides are down and heaters on it gives us much needed outside space. From the initial design meetings all the way through to install the Caribbean Blinds team were pleasant and professional to deal with. They made the whole experience very pleasant and straight forward.”To find out more about how we can help you create unforgettable alfresco experiences 365 days a year please contact one of our knowledgeable and friendly team on 0344 800 1947, send us an email projects@cbsolarshading.co.uk or visit our website www.cbsolarshading.co.uk.

Pennyhill Park - A New Dimension in Spa Breaks

Caribbean Blinds UK Ltd

‘A little bit extra’, was the concept when creating the beautiful new spa garden at Pennyhill Park; a premium space, set within the luxurious spa grounds where you can switch off from the world and indulge in the very best.  Four Cabanas were key to the design, each providing clients with a private ‘pad’ for the day. The Cabanas had to offer all the benefits of being outside, with the comforts of being inside, allowing guests to enjoy the roll-top spa bath and loungers beneath in a pleasant environment throughout the day.  Our Deluxe Outdoor Living Pod was incorporated by the project designer thanks to its flexibility, in particular the ability to incorporate additional uprights and a wall to the rear and part side where the padded bench, fridge and coffee machine are all incorporated. Each module measured 5m x 4m providing ample space for the facilities within.  The motorised rotating louvered roof of the system allows guests to play with light and shade to create the perfect ambience beneath the structure from sunrise to sunset, whilst the optional integrated screens to the open sides can be deployed as required to provide privacy whilst also offering protection from low sun and even breezes.  Graham Copeman, General Manager at Pennyhill Park commented: “Our cabanas give guests the opportunity to indulge in the best, feel at their best, and relax in style. The ‘Deluxe’ Outdoor Living Pod™ design provides privacy and shade from above and on all sides with remote control blinds, whilst being beautifully adaptable allowing us to build around the space to create the perfect indulgent haven. Our vision was to bring the luxury of a hotel room to the great outdoors, which Caribbean Blinds seamlessly helped us achieve.” Close collaboration with the interior designer and facilities manager throughout ensured a smooth process, with fully detailed CAD drawings provided to ensure a seamless incorporation of the structures into the overall scheme, which was particularly important for the positioning of foundations and services. From drawing and design sign-off through to installation took just 12 weeks, with installation taking just 4 days to complete.  To find out more about how we can help you create unforgettable alfresco experiences 365 days a year please contact one of our knowledgeable and friendly team on 0344 800 1947, send us an email projects@cbsolarshading.co.uk or visit our website www.cbsolarshading.co.uk.
