Jacksons Fencing was contacted by Border Force, the law enforcement command within the Home Office responsible for securing the UK border, with a brief to tender for the design, manufacture and installation of security fencing and a series of matching gates. Initially Jacksons was awarded 3.3km of the 5.0km contract, however as of October 2016, the company had worked across 4 key locations spread throughout the perimeter and interior of the site and installed a total of 11.5km of fencing and 63 gates.

Wessex Water was keen to give the existing staff restaurant and seating area at its head office a new lease of life with a fresh modern look that would encourage use of the space throughout the day.Hambury Hird Design was commissioned to give the communal space a more friendly, welcoming atmosphere with multi-purpose facilities where staff would be happy to spend their break time and use for working quietly and informal meetings with colleagues and visitors.

Class A Office & Luxury Hotel Complex - creates an imposing sight on the skyline of Shenzhen in China. The development features two towers, a ballroom pavilion and a large elevated pedestrian park with walkways that connect the site’s park with two of the city’s existing parks - Lotus Hill and Beacon Hill. What is immediately obvious is the development’s application of glass, which enables to create an ultrasmooth skin on the skyscrapers thanks to a façade design that uses as few mullions as possible.

This leading apparel and footwear company’s UK Head Office in Central London now boasts LivePanel living walls along its corridors and reception areas, drawing the visitor to the product showcase in this corporate and VIP area at the brand’s HQ. Bold brands make bold statements across their product ranges, their marketing activity and their promotions to consumers, partners and colleagues. That is why this LivePanel living wall installations adds an equally bold element to the equation.

The British Horse Society headquarters is on a listed deer park with many protected trees. The building’s circular design posed key construction challenges. The single storey office building was constructed in a doughnut shape, to ensure that a mature oak tree on site was preserved. In keeping with its green surroundings Spectraplan SM120 Dark Grey, a polyester reinforced TPE waterproofing system was mechanically fixed to a composite metal deck, ready to receive a sedum blanket.

A complete rework of a postmodern office building (60 London Wall), situated in the heart of the City of London. The project aim was to extensively refurbish, reconfigure, reinvent and reposition the building.Due to the addition of a composite metal deck floor extension and additional steel frame for the top floors, Tarmac’s Toplight C lightweight structural concrete was seen as the perfect solution as it could be pumped and ensured a weight loss of 30% whiel maintaining the necessary structural performance.

The White Collar Factory will be a mixed-use are of workspace, residential and retail, designed by architects, AHMM. The development, sited on London's City Road, comprises a new 16-storey office tower, a new public square and refurbished existing buildings to the rear. The new 2-storey basement has been waterproofed using a Type C system applied internally, to provide drained protection in accordance with BS 8102: 2009. The waterproofing was supplied by Triton Systems.

A beautiful combination of old and new at this Grade A office development in Manchester’s vibrant Northern Quarter. Tribeca House was designed by Falconer Chester Hall and delivered by Barnfield Construction. The original building suffered significant fire damage back in 2007 and Kamani Property Group had the surviving façade restored and sensitively combined with its new, adjoining development.A modern take on the architecture of the Northern Quarter, the new building complements the red-brick façade of the original building. Through AGF, Metal Technology Ltd supplied its high performance curtain walling systems which had a feature that enabled an interface with the striking COR-TEN (steel) vertical feature fins. The 7 storey commercial development includes high quality office and retail space, bringing further regeneration to this dynamic area of Manchester.Metal Technology products used were: System 5-35Hi Tilt Turn Windows, System 10-35 Thermally Broken Commercial Door (roof terrace), System 17 HR High Rise Curtain Walling and System 17 SP Silicone Pointed 17 High Rise Curtain Walling.We’re very proud to have been involved in this one!

Emrys Architects were appointed by Berners & Wells to design this mixed-use development located north of Oxford Street in central London. The building sits across 2 different streets, the lower two floors accommodate flexible retail and restaurant space and the upper floors high end office space.The building has been designed to respond to the historic Character of the local area, some areas were partially demolished while the Edwardian facade on Wells Street was retained, repaired and extended. Portland stone and teal glazed-brick detail was used to create seven two-storey high arches showcasing the grand entrances to the offices and retail units.The ironmongery brief centred around replicating the arches present in both the external entrances and the courtyard, this distinctive shape was also used in the vision panels on a number of internal doors. To fulfil this brief, we worked closely with the architect to design and manufacture bespoke arched push plates in Flat Matt Black(FMB). Where required these were paired with complimentary D-shaped pull handles and simple accessories finished to match. All other ironmongery was finished in FMB including hinges, door closers, signage and accessories.Photography: Neil Kenyon

Armourcoat polished plaster wall finishes feature within the major office refurbishment of Twenty Old Bailey by architects BuckleyGrayYeoman for global asset manager Blackstone. Located opposite the famous criminal courts in the City of London, the building has undergone a comprehensive modernisation program to create over 22,000m2 of contemporary office space. A reconfigured atrium has also been created which links the new facades to the east and west of the building and allows natural light to flood the interior.Throughout the atrium over 700m2 of Armourcoat KonCrete polished plaster has been expertly hand applied by Armourcoat and includes a recessed logo by the entrance. KonCrete is an urban range of polished plaster colours and finishes designed for contemporary projects. The range offers a wealth of design options to achieve a distinctive modern look including distressed effects or recessed shutter markings. Additionally, Armourcoat SMG was applied to the reception desk front and lift lobbies. SMG is a super luxury Armourcoat polished plaster finish with the appearance of a seamless high gloss lacquer effect. The ChallengeAs a multinational business and leading employer within the region, the telecommunications giant was keen to lead the way in India’s fire safety standards, equipping its employees with both a comfortable and safe working environment. At the heart of this mission was the challenge of balancing the practical everyday needs of employees with the safety standards required of modern offices. In solving that challenge, Pyroguard – together with local partners, Pacific Fire Controls – was able to play an integral role by providing fire-rated safety glass specifically for the project.The SolutionUsing Pyroguard T EW 120, a toughened safety glass from Pyroguard’s Firesafe range which is capable of delivering radiant heat, smoke and flame protection for up to 120 minutes, the ambition of creating a light-filled workspace for employees could be realised.The glazing’s light transmission characteristics meant natural light could be maximised, while its sound reduction reflected the needs of the busy office.Having been fire-tested by Efectis France and certified for use with timber frames, Pyroguard and Pacific Fire Controls were able to install modern dividing walls to create break-out spaces, facilitating meetings and collaborative working – while still keeping safety in mind.

Project Wick is a film studio located within Chiswick Park, which comprises of 1.8 million sq ft of award-winning accommodation, arranged as a necklace of 12 office buildings. Located in London, Chiswick Park is home to some of the world’s leading companies including Starbucks, Qualcomm, Pepsico, Paramount, and Discovery.Discovery Networks Europe, the pan-European arm of leading factual entertainment group Discovery Inc., relocated its European headquarters to the Richard Rogers designed Chiswick Business Park. In the new building there is ample space for offices, screening rooms, and transmission facilities. We were called upon to design and install a box-in-box solution to acoustically isolate the recording studios from the other areas of the building, thereby preventing unwanted noise and vibrations from becoming a nuisance.A Stravifloor Channel floating floor using isolated steel battens in combination with medium stiffness natural rubber pads (Pad-M50) and plywood and soundbloc plasterboards guarantee an isolation frequency of less than 10 Hz.The floating floors in these box-in-box rooms are complimented with our resilient head detail (Stravilink RHD) and Stravilink PHS isolation hangers for the ceilings.

AluK’s 58BW and 58BD profiles feature in a contemporary new development in Ancoats, once the heart of Manchester’s cotton industry but now one of the city’s most vibrant and creative districts, and recently named by The Times as one of the UK’s 20 coolest places to live. The £3.7m POPworks project by Heatley Developments (https://www.heatleydevelopments.com/) converted a former solicitors’ office into a mixed-use development, with commercial units on the ground floor and 28 stylish apartments on the four floors above.

Waitrose’s Distribution Centre at Bracknell delivers to more than 60 stores, handling up to 150,000 cases of chilled products. The new warehouse was conceived to a ‘green’ design; generating 20% of renewable energy on site with waste heat and office cooling recycled from the refrigeration process, efficient lighting and low carbon emissions. In keeping with the concept of sourcing natural materials, a Roma-3 mild steel grating fence in a galvanized finish was specified for the boundary demarcation.

Based on experience with other offices, we know that the best option is to fit the louvre blades horizontally on a south façade because the sun is high. The DucoSun Wing is perforated and thus assures perfect harmony between solar shading and shadow. The fin-shaped louvre blade has an urban design and can rotate with the sun which means the light entering can be controlled.

Nuway Tuftiguard Classic has recently been installed within a modern office building in Dublin, by the expert installers from Andrew Scollan Matting Systems.Cut into a unique shaped matwell, the classic grey and aluminium aesthetic of Nuway Tuftiguard Classic was chosen to complete the first impression for visitors entering the building, whilst also providing outstanding dirt and moisture retention. As a result, this will reduce the number of accidental slips or falls and protect interior floor finishes.

Cambridge Consultants are one of the world’s leading product development and technology consultancy firms, solving the world’s most complex engineering, technology and design problems. Their expansion required a modern four-storey development containing state-of-the-art offices and laboratories.InterLace designed, manufactured and installed electric and hand-operated roller blinds and venetian blinds across multi-use spaces. The design required specialist engineered supports and, blinds are operated using a central control system.

There’s no greater accolade for a building products manufacturer than being specified by architects for architects, and that is exactly what specialist partitioning board supplier fermacell® achieved at the University of Portsmouth. The £9 million building comprises large lecture theatre, seminar room, café and shop over the ground and first floors, and open-plan offices for academic and administrative staff and a post-graduate centre on the upper floors via floor plans which are easily divided and flexible.

11 Ducie Street is home to 250 of BDP’s Manchester based staff. It comprises 2,500 square metres of open plan office space with a further 400 square metres of ancillary areas, including meeting rooms, exhibition space, café and reception area.This award-winning building was designed by BDP’s architects and engineers, with a strong emphasis on functional, aesthetic and environmental considerations. Housed in one of the distillery’s original buildings, the renovation has married the traditional stonework of the building with modern and industrial materials in order to create a visually striking interior scheme.The floor levelling and resin flooring package for the new Singleton of Glen Ord distillery included vebroscreed Industrial, vebrores PU SL HD and vebro Classic Terrazzo. The Coopers FireMaster, closed and open Concertina fire curtain is a perfect solution when requiring fire compartmentation around a staircase as it offers a virtual firewall creating a lobby, once the curtain has been deployed, with more than 3 hours integrity. A total of five FireMaster Concertinas were installed between floors 11 and 15 in this large office space. These curtains allow for the open plan flow of the building to remain as intended and prevent the spread of fire through the building whilst providing compartmentation.

The Sways project, consists on the rehabilitation and two storey upward extension of a building dating from the 90’s, transforming that place into an magnificent office building. The scheme provides for architectural enhancement of the real estate complex, involving modification of vertical circulations (cores), reconfiguration of the interior patios and modification of the existing facade. Effisus Ecofacade Pre-Fab Frames were developed specifically for this project, allowing time savings and reduced largely the possibility of installation errors, maximizing the efficiency of sealing work.

As the centrepiece to British Land’s regeneration of Regents Place, 10 Brock Street is a distinctive 16 storey, 320,000 sq ft landmark office development in the heart of London. Completed in 2013, the building achieved the coveted BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating thanks to a number of features, including rainwater harvesting system and combined heat and power systems. This global cybersecurity company's large desk-based workforce required comfortable, hard-wearing floor coverings to zone and manage the acoustics for their new office space.The design team specified Compound Magic (carpet) and Earth Science (LVT) from Milliken's Change Agent collection alongside Major Frequency's Distortion design in netural taupes and rich browns to stunning effect. Angled Walk from the Clerkenwell collection contrasts to identify the various meeting spaces in this dynamic workspace.

Kingsmead Business Park in High Wycombe provides an ideal environment for today’s businesses, with some 150,000ft2 of flexible office space and excellent transport links. This purpose built business park, designed around a central courtyard, was due for a refurbishment, involving significant investment in its amenity offer and environment, incorporating the construction of a new café, entrance, lighting and associated hard landscaping. The owners were seeking to improve facilities for tenants and visitors and create a focal point in the heart of the complex.

When leading beauty product franchise, MADI International, moved into its new international head office, Amtico Spacia Acoustic was chosen to add a warm and stylish feel to the building’s interior. In order to reflect the company’s ethos, the premises required flooring which was well designed, easy to clean and benefited from good acoustics. The latter was particularly important as, being a beauty business, MADI International experiences high footfall – including lots of high heeled and designer shoes.

For PCA Predict in Worcester, the need to choose new flooring came earlier than expected. Contemporary, sleek, practical and durable were the keywords for this flooring project. After a false start with the cork floor, Office Manager Philippa Jaine was keen to achieve a contemporary look, but one that would also be able to cope with the footfall and, most importantly, would cause minimum disruption to the staff during installation. Combining the main entrance and breakout area, the total flooring space measured 95m2.

Ash & Lacy supplied curved, expanded mesh Screen panels for a fantastic new office development to house some of the UK’s National Sports Governing Bodies, in Loughborough. Owned by Loughborough University and located on a gateway site to the University campus, SportPark plays host to various sporting organisations in 3 pavilions, over 4 storeys. The project was designed by David Morley Architects and the external envelope materials strike a balance between life span, low maintenance requirements and aesthetics.

F. Ball smoothing underlayment and adhesives have played starring roles in the installation of floorcoverings as part of the major refurbishment and extension of one of Scotland’s busiest theatres, Eden Court at Inverness. Flooring contractor Jack Carmichael (Flooring) Ltd of Elgin, were responsible for the installation of floorcoverings throughout the project. This involved a basement cinema, the main 850 seat auditorium, a second 250 seat theatre, a bar and restaurant, box office, foyer bar and dance studio and associated dressing rooms and toilets...

The roof area was badly damaged by heavy storms, with all existing ballasted solar panels lifting off the single ply roof and destroyed beyond repair. The client needed the remedial work completed to fixed deadlines in order to comply with insurance requirements, and wanted to optimise the roof by replacing the pre-existing photovoltaic (PV) array with a solar solution that would deliver superior energy generation. The office also had to remain operational throughout the works, creating logistical challenges
