An introductory video showing how the centre was developed is shown in the auditorium where our powder coating finish is at eye level - close up and touchable."The Wellcome Genome Campus is a scientific research campus built in the grounds of Hinxton Hall, Hinxton in Cambridgeshire. The focal point within a newly designed Conference Centre is a 100m diameter circular screen created around the Francis Crick Auditorium with an image depicting the evolution of life. The image is created by perforations of different size and pitch in the curved aluminium panels - rather like a pixelated image.Precision powder coating was required ensure that powder penetrated even the smallest perforation in order that the image would be fully revealed.Solution:The individual panels were 2.0m by 0.9m and only 3mm thick, with a border frame to retain the curved shape and enable them to be accurately bolted together. The perforations within them had infinitesimal differences in size and pitch, barely visible to the naked eye. Expert care with coating was required in order to ensure that the powder penetrated every single perforation.We trialled a number of powder coating shades and finishes to find which worked best to reveal the underlying image and asoft pale bronze shade from our anomatch range was selected.The different size and pitch of the perforations created darker and lighter areas on the panels. Wood finish powder coating to realise vision of a timber facade Overview A brand-new Skills and Innovation Centre has been added to the Earl Street/Broad Street elevation of the South Staffordshire College’s campus, a £28million project. This 7,500 sq metre, 3 storey building will house leading-edge construction, engineering and hybrid vehicle technology workshops, along with innovatively designed social spaces. The building takes pride of place on the college’s town centre site and a suitably striking external envelope has been planned. The architects’ envisaged a facade of long vertical fins giving the appearance of timber. This would also screen a roof-top substation from view. The Project Maple Sunscreening won the contract to supply the extensive vertical fin façade and proposed using lightweight aluminium instead of timber to achieve the of span required. This project is a perfect example of one of the key advantages of PWF on aluminium, over wood, namely the ability to accomplish very long spans with structural integrity. Powdertech Wood Finish (PWF ™) was selected as the most appropriate powder coating since it is formulated to match the natural variations in colour, grain density and grain pattern of wood. Importantly, PWF meets fire reaction classification A2-s1, d0. The client selected the preferred shade from our collection and the aluminium extrusions began to arrive at our plant. We coated 4000 metres of aluminium, comprising mainly rectangular sections of extruded aluminium, of sizes 200mm and 100mm x 50mm. THE PROJECTThe Safety Letterbox Company are the UK’s leading manufacturer of mailboxes with a standard range of over 130 items, but also providing bespoke storage solutions for projects where a specific product is required.We were approached in early 2015 by a client requiring a specific solution that was to be manufactured using corten steel. Corten steel is a material that will change and adapt over time, starting with a darkened grey finish and progressing through to a unique rustic orange finish. The front panel of the mailbox which is located external to the property is finished in Corten Steel, also found on large proportions of the property.The mailbox is a through the wall product, with mail posted into the front of the item and securely stored until being retrieved on the rear side of the mailbox with a coded key. The front side of the mailbox features the corten steel panel integrated with an intercom system for communicating with the residents of the property.This project was featured on the Grand Designs program in October 2015.

A Shading Revamp for ICC WalesThis was a project in which both functionality and aesthetics played a large role. It was important that the shading system installed not only provided a professional aesthetic, but also could boast robust performance.This particular project shows Umbra's top of the range automation systems at their best, the ability to power a whole room of blinds at the press of a button is one that suits large office spaces perfectly.Besides the automation aspect, the KuroLok blackout blinds themselves suited the professional and stylish nature of the project with ease. Self-Zipping edges mean that the blind itself never falls out of the side channels, thus eliminating unwanted light leaks, and the high quality, full blackout fabric provided the privacy and security the project needed.The slim side channels of KuroLok and Umbra's in house powder coating services meant that the blinds matched the style of the room flawlessly providing a professional look.

TS.11204 Cam Action Door CloserThe 153-bedroom Village Hotel is a recent addition to the growing Village Hotels chain. As its fitting out neared completion, we were contacted by our client, who reported a problem with the doors not being held fully shut by the closers. This would obviously be a fire safety issue and, with 307 doors to fit, was a challenge that needed to be overcome quickly.Rutland personnel visited the site to diagnose the cause and found that the door architraves were deeper than normal. This extra depth reduced the pre-tension capacity of the closer to hold the door shut.The solution identified was to increase the angle of the closer arm when the doors were closed from five to ten degrees. Back at Rutland headquarters, this design modification was quickly made to the TS.11204 closer and the revised versions supplied.They worked perfectly, thereby enabling the hotel to keep the desired door closer specification and know that all its doors were fully fire safety compliant.

Bath Abbey sits at the heart of the historic city of Bathwhere there has been a place of Christian worship onthe site for more than 1,300 years. The Bath AbbeyFootprint Project sought to ensure the 17th CenturyGrade I listed building remained a focal point forgenerations to come. The project aimed to sensitivelyrenovate parts of the Abbey whilst modernising itsfacilities to cater for present-day demands in a buildingwhose origins date back to 1499.Allgood worked with Feilden Clegg Bradley Studiosand Emery Bros Ltd to provide a complete packageof ironmongery and a comprehensive access controlsolution. The project required many bespoke items toaccommodate the Abbey’s historic architecture.Given the age of the building, there were particularchallenges to overcome during the specificationprocess. A highlight being how to bring a 400-yearoldlock back into working order as part of a modernaccess control system. The lock on the main doors of theAbbey had not been used in decades and the key hadbeen lost many years ago. Allgood delivered the lockto its specialist partner, Guardian Lock & EngineeringCompany, who called upon the services of one of theirretired locksmiths to diligently disassemble the lock,repair, and service it before crafting a new key.Another particular specification issue was improvingaccess control for the ancient catacombs which neededconstant airflow to maintain the right environmentalconditions, but they also needed to be secure.Allgood worked with the architect on several optionsto balance these needs in a way sensitive to the 17th Century surroundings. The solution was a door designedto have a clear gap on either side for airflow but narrowenough to maintain security. Allgood Secure also revisedthe internal exit and a second card reader was fitted toboost security, allowing a read in, read out system to givefull visibility of people arriving and departing. To completethe work, a specifically designed stainless-steel cover was fitted to house the electronic locking system.Alex Morris, Associate at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios,commented: “From early stages in the project, wehave been very pleased to work with the Allgood teamon the ironmongery and access control for the BathAbbey Footprint project. We have benefitted fromtheir expert advice and extensive range of high-qualityproducts, needed to deal with the wide range of projectrequirements.”The Mode 3570 lever handle in a bronze Spectra finishwas specified throughout the Abbey, as well as a fullsuite of matching door furniture. This fully coordinatedrange not only provided the desired aesthetic but is alsodesigned to last. The comprehensive 25-year warrantyand Quadaxial rose, which is tested up to one millioncycles, means the lever handles are perfect for the highfoot traffic the Abbey receives. Allgood Secure also completed an access control systemfor the Abbey. Because many of the doors and frameswere protected by Historic England listing requirements,the team had to develop a sensitive yet functionalsolution. All visible products had the same Spectra bronzefinish to match the ironmongery, as well as installing entrycontrols for much narrower doors than usual.A video entry system was also required - but one thatcould function without disturbing events in the Abbeyincluding the regular choir practices. Rather than anaudio alarm, the team created a visual beacon using a25mm LED fixed to the choir room wall, allowing for anunintrusive system that would draw attention but notdisrupt any rehearsals.The entire access control system is networked sothat each door can be monitored, and access rightsmanaged easily via a simple database. The AllgoodSecure team has provided full training to all thosewho need it and have offered a package of ongoingmaintenance and support for the Abbey.

In September 2022, Bradbury Group installed eight ClassicAL doors at a low-rise block of flats for Central Bedfordshire Council.The replacement doors installed were a combination of Front Entrance and Rear entrance doors, providing fire integrity and security protection to the communal housing, as well as Network Communication Systems Limited, NCS, Chorus remote access management. The new intelligent door sets were designed to replace existing doors which were aged and not secure, leading to several instances of anti-social behaviour.

The Burrell Collection’s renaissance is an ambitious refurbishment which will allow visitors to explore all three floors in the building, set out as galleries, visible stores and special exhibition spaces. Arup was tasked to improve and reinstate the entire envelope of the building. The goal for the failing metal standing seam roof was to replace it with a new waterproofing system incorporating falls to provide effective drainage and to incorporate sustainable technology in the form of solar PV.

The 2022 Stirling Prize was won by Niall McLaughlin Architects for the Magdalene College Library in Cambridge. The exterior of the building combines glazing, timber, brick and an elegant QUARTZ-ZINC PLUS standing seam roof using the BBA certified Structural roof, which is a warm roof (non vented) system. The roof was installed by a VMZINC@WORK partner, All Metal Roofing thus making a 50 year warranty possible.

Metalline’s glazed in Ultima aluminium insulated panels have provided a specialist touch to the recently completed Weybridge Business Park in the Borough of Runnymede. The commercial office park features a number of office buildings that have been refurbished as part of a redevelopment for Standard Life Investments. The bespoke glazed in panels which feature on the window surrounds to the 1st and 2nd floors were coated in PPC golden beach metallic and feature a fluted design that met the architects vision for the external envelope of the building. The aluminum outer face was fitted with extruded box sections to give the fluted appearance. The aluminium section was then sealed using specialist rivets designed by Metalline for this specific application. Each of the 2 metre panels were then vacuum bonded using Metalline’s new 6-metre vacuum bonding press. Ultima panels are traditionally specified in aluminium with either an anodised finish in natural silver, bronze, black or blue-grey or in a range of polyester powder coated RAL and metallic colours. They can also be provided with a noncombustible A1 fire rated core. Alternative facings such as perforated aluminium, stainless steel or can be incorporated to create a truly bespoke panel.

The O2 in London is the world’s most successful music and entertainment venue. Project Mint was the development within the O2 dome of 80 new retail outlets to form a 400,000 sq ft designer outlet “Icon Outlet” for the owner and operator AEG. Designed by architect Callison RTKL, and with ISG as main contractor Lindner Interiors contributed to the construction of the fit-out with a scope of works included: 4,500 m2 SFS, 8,500 m2 of dry lining, 2,000 m2 of ceilings – including: Render, Timber Baffles, Metal Copper GRG. In addition, 4,500 m2 of Façade finishes including: Metal Rain Screen Cladding. Render Cladding, Brick Slip Cladding, Copper Cladding, & Glass Smoke Screens. With multiple finishes, specialist trades and products this challenging project has created an attractive public space that is truly an Icon that Lindner Interiors are proud to have been a part of. CBRE wanted to replace their existing automatic doors at the front and rear of their newly refurbished building with stylish doors which are safe, reliable and ensured effortless pedestrian flow. Two record K41 stainless steel four-leaf revolving doors constructed from glass to provide a modern, minimalistic look were installed. A stainless steel swing door complete with a record DFA 127 operator has also been installed next to revolving door at the main entrance to provide a wider opening for disabled access and deliveries of large, bulky items to the premises.

Mrs Ballard has recently undertaken an extensive refurbishment and extension project at her traditional 1890s Hertfordshire farmhouse.Replacing the original windows at the front of the home as well as specifying new timber sash windows for the new extension, a stunning new front door was also included as part of the project. Mrs Ballard chose a stunning ‘Lydford’ timber front door from the Dale Joinery range, finished in the shade of ‘Chrome Green’.To complete the look at the front of her home, PVD Stainless Polished Brass door hardware from the Coastal range were specified, including the DKB192 Doctor’s Front Door Knocker, REG090 Regent Lever Door Handle and LP400 Sleeved Letter Plate. The PVD Polished Brass finish was the perfect, complementary choice to the dark green finish of the door, and suits the traditional façade.The new front door really is a statement piece, and has added an extra level of beauty to this stunning countryside property.

TECHNAL GLAZING SYSTEMS PROTECT THE 47TH G7 SUMMIT VENUE FROM COASTAL STORMSThe stunning Carbis Bay Hotel in Cornwall, venue for the 47th G7 Summit, had a host of tried and tested TECHNAL glazing and curtain walling systems installed, all specified for their outstanding weather performance.Exeter-based Harmony Architectural Aluminium, a specialist glazing fabricator and contractor well experienced in helping develop high-end properties around the windswept coasts of Devon and Cornwall, designed and delivered the Dualframe 75 Si, Elegance 52 curtain walling, Crown Sliding Folding doors and other products in a £400K contract for the Carbis Bay Hotel. Having employed TECHNAL systems on projects from Bristol down to Cornwall for more than three decades, Harmony proposed a package of systems including the Dualframe 75 Si doors and windows to create eight beachfront lodges and a three-storey wedding venue at the landmark destination.  The Carbis Bay lodges and beautiful wedding venue are a stand-out project for us: not just because of the challenges to the location, literally right next to the sea, but because it also demonstrates TECHNAL’s value as a one-stop shop. We have the range of systems to fulfil any contract from volume housing through to the ‘Grand Designs’ type properties and commercial work.For locations such as this, systems like Dualframe, C160 Sliders and Crown Sliding Folding doors work at the scale to maximise the views while delivering the necessary resistance to wind, air and water.The fabricator, which operates a 20,000 square feet facility at Pinhoe, put forward the TECHNAL systems for the prestige project, primarily on the basis of their excellent weather performance and resistance to the aggressive marine environment. While all the systems offer a stylish appearance, the Crown Sliding Folding and C160 Lift and Slide doorsets also provided the benefit of permitting taller than normal opening heights.We were one of three companies invited to meet the owner of the Carbis Bay Hotel, Steve Baker, and his project manager, Mark Senton, following a recommendation from one of our clients in Cornwall.  We then put forward the Dualframe and other TECHNAL products on the basis of the level of support, as well as performance, the manufacturer offers.  I have been using TECHNAL systems since 1989 for contracts across the South West including schools, hospitals and other PFI projects.Harmony AA Construction of the MUV (Multi Utility Venue) building and the eight lodges was split into two phases, but ended up running concurrently: which increased the logistical challenge as the hotel remained open through the year-long period of works – including for weddings on the beach.  The fact that the buildings are right down at the level of the beach inevitably increases the glazing systems’ exposure to salt spray as well as driving rain when the weather is bad, so we relied on TECHNAL’s technical department to supply all of the relevant testing certificates to verify the corrosion resistance, wind pressure ratings and other specification requirements. There were a lot of meetings regarding this project, while deliveries to our Pinhoe plant near Exeter were kept up throughout.Harmony AAHarmony’s package for the Carbis Bay project included the design, manufacture and installation of 29 sets of two or three panel C160 Sliders: all 2700mm high, installed in the seaward facing elevations of the eight luxury lodges. Accommodating up to eight people, these also feature Dualframe 75 Si entrance screens, into which the client installed timber doors.The ground floor to the MUV building is given over to three retail units, the entrance to each of which is formed of a Crown Sliding Folding doorset standing 2600mm high. On the floor above are guest bedrooms with seven sets of 2800mm tall C160 Sliders, as well as Dualframe residential doors, giving access onto the balconies.The top floor of the venue then offers panoramic views of the bay through a series of Elegance 52 screens, with automatic opening, top-hung vents providing easily controllable ventilation while the glazing throughout is SKN 176 solar control. The curtain walling includes a run that is faceted to follow the curve of the building’s end wall, while more C160 Sliders are set behind ‘Juliette’ balconies to open out onto the stunning seascape view.Stylish in design while offering multiple opening configurations, the TECHNAL Dualframe 75 Si range is proving very popular across many sectors, including social housing and education. Not only does the uniquely designed polyamide break help it offer U-values down to 0.9 W/m2K, but Dualframe was the first aluminium system to achieve an A++ Window Energy Rating with its tilt before turn window. Completed in July 2020, The Sorting Office has been designed and constructed to the highest sustainable standards achieving LEED platinum certification.The development is articulated with design features that add visual interest and assert a clear geometric form. Working in partnership with The Expanded Metal Company we were delighted to secure the first project where we could utilise our CWCT tested Vantage EMSA Site assembled expanded mesh system. The expanded mesh system featured Athens expanded mesh, our Vantage® EMSA support system and was used to shroud four Chimney stacks on the SCCC development in Llanfrechfa Grange, just outside Cwmbran.

ELASTOSPRAY spray insulation has mastered the ultimate challenge – providing effective insulation to the walls and roof of a house built from shipping containers. And not just any house, but an amazingly beautiful design icon featured on TV’s Grand Designs. Described by presenter Kevin McCloud as both “paranormal goo” and “the right solution”, ELASTOSPRAY was the only practical way to provide insulation to the corrugated metal walls without causing a condensation issue.

Jacksons Fencing was enlisted to provide its RoSPA approved Metal Playtime playground fencing. The council opted to have the individual pales of the fence powder coated in various colours after being hot dip galvanised. The multi-coloured RoSPA approved playground railings feature an eye-catching design. With a 25 year guarantee against rust, the fence provides a long-lasting boundary solution with a low lifetime cost.

This was the first asbestos roof coating project undertaken with Liquasil products, back in 2013. The roof was heavily soiled and was cleaned using a DOFF steam cleaning machine, delivering 150°c steam to completely kill moss and lichen spores. The metal fixings were treated with Liquasil's corrosion primer and sealed with Non-Sag Sealer before the whole roof was coated with Asbestoseal, the only BBA Approved asbestos roof coating.

A secure and flexible solution with DORVISIONAs part of a programme of reducing maintenance costs whilst improving security across its stadium and ancillary club buildings, Blackburn Rovers FC has launched a new “open and closed doors” policy. As part of the policy, the football club has installed DORVISION, an innovative GPRS based door controls system developed by dormakaba, global leader in the development of door technology products and systems. Enabling the remote opening and closing of multiple doors from one central location, the system has enabled the Football Club to significantly achieve its goals of reduced costs and increased security.dormakaba’s contribution to the projectAn extensive review of the way the club manned the many entrances associated with its estate and the costs involved with using staff to maintain security, highlighted the rising costs associated with manually unlocking and locking its doors plus emergency and regular maintenance visits. Requiring a solution that would cut man hours associated with manually opening and closing doors as well as reduced service costs, and having been satisfied with the dormakaba automatic door controls used throughout the stadium, Blackburn Rovers Football Club turned to the company’s innovative DORVISION solution.DORVISION was installed onto the existing twelve sets of doors which included dormakaba’S automatic sliding door operators ES200 and ES90 and the electro-hydraulic swing door operator ED200. These were located at various parts of the stadium including entrances for fans and players, a reception area and a retail shop. The club had the additional requirement for a retail shop, located offsite in Blackburn city centre which also required a remote opening, closing and locking facility on the existing dormakaba automatic doors

To provide safe and reliable closing of the numerous internal doors, Halsall Lloyd had no hesitation in specifying products from dormakaba. “Our experience of dormakaba products is of high quality design and manufacture and virtually silent and reliable operation. They perform their job admirably and are commensurate with the high quality aspirations that Hope University hold for their campus.” commented. The Warwick School is undergoing a major transformation. It has a brand new school building, and as of September 2021, it will have a brand new logo, uniform and name, Carrington School. Kerry, the headteacher, talks about the old buildings in Surrey Live, “they were dilapidated. They were dark, small, in some places the heating didn’t work properly. They had just run out of steam, and over the years of thousands of students going through them, they needed some care and attention.” The new teaching block is made up of 22 classrooms, a dining space, a social area for students to relax in and a sports hall. This makeover and expansion have helped the school to increase its GCSE range.The new name derives from Richard Carrington, an astronomer who built Redhill Observatory in 1852. It was there that he carried out pioneering investigations on solar flares and devised a system for numbering complete rotations of the sun, still in use today. Some of the secondary school students live in Redhill streets which carry his name.Helmsman is extremely happy to have manufactured, supplied and installed laminate school lockers. These are in the new building over two floors. The four-compartment lockers have provided storage for 157 students. Queens Crescent is a bustling retail street situated in London’s Kentish Town. The roof area above the Post Office building, which also served as a communal walkway area with access to the upper level of the adjacent buildings, had been suffering from leaks. To add to the issues, the aged promenade tiles had worn and become a slip hazard when trafficked. Looking for a lasting waterproof solution that can also provide heavy duty anti-slip surfacing, the client turned to Polyroof for a solution. To minimise access disruption to the upper level adjacent buildings, the client had organised a 5-day window for the waterproofing and surfacing works to be completed.The SolutionThe main contractor had removed the old paving slabs and membrane back to the concrete deck underneath and carried out repairs to create a level surface.Approved Polyroof Contractor Emperor Roofing began by priming the concrete surface to create a sealed, non-porous substrate. With its quick-curing properties, the Polyroof primer was ready to be over-coated only 30 minutes after its installation.A specialist twin-pack epoxy metallic primer was applied to metal detailing sections, including ducting vents and the intricate balustrade detail alongside the communal stairwell, which also formed part of the specified works.Local reinforcements were carried out to these details involving taking Protec resin and PolyMat 450 up by 150mm before applying the full waterproofing system.Upon completion, the balustrades were re-painted, with the paint being taken over the waterproofing membrane to create a neat detail. A key advantage of liquid systems in general is their ability to seamlessly seal around complex detailing; in this instance, quite simply, the balustrades could not have been sealed effectively using a traditional waterproofing technology.Polyroof’s Protec System enjoys exceptionally fast detailing speeds, where its formulation allows it to rapidly break down the chopped strand mat reinforcement and neatly moulds around the detail it is covering. To the left of the stairwell, the Protec system was chased in at a height of 150mm above the level of the stairs.The termination point of the waterproofing membrane was sealed with mastic to create a fully weatherproof detail. The Protec system was dressed onto the wall abutments to the main areas but left self-terminated as new render is to be applied to the walls and taken down over the top of the Protec system.After local reinforcements were completed the main waterproofing system was applied to the walkway and stair areas.The two-coat Protec system was able to be rapidly installed with its 30-60 minutes cure times, meaning the project was comfortably ahead of schedule by the time it was complete.Next, the designated anti-slip areas were carefully masked off, leaving the exposed waterproofing to the roof perimeters, detailing and vertical sides of the step and stairs. A third coat of Protec was applied to the masked sections and, whilst the liquid was still wet, 0.7-1.2mm quartz sand aggregate was broadcast into the resin.Once dried, the aggregate is embedded within the membrane and lose sand was brushed off and collected to be re-used. In order to provide an extra-tough surface that sealed that aggregate in place, a coating of PolyFinish was applied over the aggregate in the client’s choice of light grey.

The development comprises of 16 houses and 7 apartments, constructed in two rows with a shared courtyard between them. The buildings are arranged in a stepped configuration, with the taller apartments on the east side and the lower houses on the west side, providing views across the site towards the River Lea.Monier Road uses an eyecatching combinatrion of Floren.be’s Vecchio and Vega Rustic clay bricks. The soft brown and pinks of the bricks allow Monier Road to maintain a distinct visual identity from other Fish Island regeneration projects.The Monier Road development has received critical acclaim for its innovative design and high-quality construction. It was shortlisted in the Housing Design Awards in 2017 and 2019 and featured in numerous architectural publications. The project demonstrates Pitman Tozer Architects’ commitment to creating sustainable and socially inclusive communities through thoughtful and well-designed residential developments.

Following a refurbishment for the hospitals operating theatres, Dortek were asked to replace existing timber doors with a more functional and hygienic alternative. Dortek installed our specialist hermetic sliding doors with automations for easy access. The doors have a unique hermetically sealing gasket system which gives them a 99% air tight seal. After installing the doors the hospital were able to reduce the volume of clean air fed into the theatres by over 20%. Dortek doors have a smooth, void free surface which prevents them from harbouring bacteria and makes them easy to clean for flawless hygiene and infection control.

To meet the client’s requirements of wanting sliding doorsets rather than pivoting doors on the meeting rooms, Komfort’s Sonik Slide doors were installed. This project gave us the opportunity to use Sonik Slide as our new acoustic pocket double glazed sliding door, which can be specified as a single or double door set within its own unique frameless glass. On this project, Sonik Slide double door sets were specified and installed. Sonik Slide has been designed to focus on ease of installation and to allow light to flood through the workplace whilst ensuring high acoustic performance is maintained.

1,500/M2 3mm Aluminium 1050 Grade H14 in Optima FC and Optima TFC systems has been used in the completion of the striking Onyx Building, Lancaster Circus in Birmingham. Optima FC was selected as the client required a hook-on cladding system with secret fixings for the main extent of the face. Optima TFC was then used in a mechanical fix for the slatted window cover panels due to barrier loading requirements.The building, which has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, comprises of two bold, angular towers with sharply defined ‘razor’ edges and a smooth, highly detailed, gloss black finish, rising 13 and 24 storeys respectively. It recently invested £4 million in a state-of-the-art accident repair centre in Nottingham, which has been fitted out with the very best furnishings, finishings and fixtures.However, it soon became apparent that door closers on several of the office doors needed adjusting and replacing. They had been incorrectly fitted and adjusted, which was causing wear on the products and making the doors bang shut. Due to the complicated engineering, a specialist was required, even for fitting. The British Horse Society headquarters is on a listed deer park with many protected trees. The building’s circular design posed key construction challenges. The single storey office building was constructed in a doughnut shape, to ensure that a mature oak tree on site was preserved. In keeping with its green surroundings Spectraplan SM120 Dark Grey, a polyester reinforced TPE waterproofing system was mechanically fixed to a composite metal deck, ready to receive a sedum blanket.
