Sealmaster
Pembroke College Cambridge has various historic buildings. Some of the doors in the college range from between 150, and 200 years old. To maintain the aesthetic, Sealmaster Fireface, Adhesive and Masterseal is used to line to inner face of the doors to retain their original appearance. Intumescent and perimeter seals such as Sealmaster delta and Sealmaster GRS graphite strip are used to ensure the college is compliant with fire regs.

Asbestos roof coating project in Haverhill

This was the first asbestos roof coating project undertaken with Liquasil products, back in 2013.
The roof was heavily soiled and was cleaned using a DOFF steam cleaning machine, delivering 150°c steam to completely kill moss and lichen spores.
The metal fixings were treated with Liquasil's corrosion primer and sealed with Non-Sag Sealer before the whole roof was coated with Asbestoseal, the only BBA Approved asbestos roof coating.

Working with the National Gallery since 1995, the roof replacement and thermal upgrading project has seen in excess of 12,000sq m of Sika Sarnafil membranes installed, together with insulation, roof lights and walkways in a series of over 30 completed projects – including the complete Sainsbury Wing in 2008.

EB24 steel windows for Henley College

The architectural team at Henley College, a sixth form college in Oxfordshire, specified EB24 steel windows for the refurbishment of one of its two sites, ‘Rotherfield’. The Victorian Gothic style building had original white steel windows which after 150 years of use were no longer fit for purpose. After researching the market, EB24 was chosen as the right product to replace the existing windows due to its elegant appearance, ability to be made into beautiful patterns to match the existing windows, great security and energy performance.
Asbestos roof refurbishment coating in Preston

This complicated asbestos roof structure was heavily soiled and leaking in numerous places.
Asbestoseal was specified because it is the only BBA Approved asbestos roof coating on the market.
The roof was cleaned using 150°c steam, which kills all moss and lichen spores on contact, leaving a perfectly clean substrate for coating.
The success of any coating comes from its preparation and Liquasil teaches all of it approved installers various cleaning methods.
The roof was coated and is now leak free with a much extended life expectancy.

The roof was first steam cleaned using 150°c steam, removing all moss and lichen.
Metal fixings were treated with Liquasil's corrosion primer and then sealed using Non-Sag Sealer.
The entire roof surface was then coated with Asbestoseal 20 to provide long term protection and add considerably to the life of the roof.
The metal gutters were lined with Liquasil's seamless silicone gutter lining system

In 2009 the redevelopment master plan was prepared by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects. Design for the Granary and Malthouse was carried out by Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects whom certainly achieved the client’s key requirements for sustainability, and energy efficiency.Steve Drury, Rooff development director commented: "At an early stage FOAMGLAS® was specified for its environmental qualities and long term reliability. It is impervious to water and water-vapour and it actually provided an element of exterior weatherproofing as the building works progressed: the interior works could commence whist the metal façade was still being installed. FOAMGLAS® insulation, with its unique cladding fixing system, kept thermal bridging to a minimum; the resulting U-value performance exceeds Building Regulations by more than 25%.With time, the KME Tecu Bronze exterior will take on a natural patina. The metal exterior has a potential lifetime of well over 200 years, hence it’s very important to use the right insulation with a proven long term thermal performance.With FOAMGLAS® thermal ageing does not take place. It is the ideal insulation to be combined with roof and façade materials such as KME Tecu Bronze.For the pitched roof FOAMGLAS® READY BOARD T4+ was bonded and sealed to the timber board structure with PC®11 adhesive. A total of 31 Flexirol Straight Sliding systems were installed as room dividers in the Presidential Suite and as sliding doors in the hotel’s conference rooms. Soltaire 120 hardware was employed in the grand ballroom, with two sets of our Securefold 150 folding door systems fitted in the hotel’s restaurant.
Phase 1 of the build also included the installation of 32 Husky 100 sliding door hardware systems, complete with soft close mechanisms, in rooms for the hotel’s branded residences. The 2nd phase of the development will see the fit out of 143 rooms within the same tower.
Sandtex gets Happisburgh Lighthouse ship-shape for summer

More than 150 litres of Sandtex Trade’s X-Treme X-Posure® Smooth Masonry Paint have been used to repaint the red and white bands of Happisburgh Lighthouse tol provide protection from the elements for up to 20 years.
Peter Hairsine, of P H Hairsine & Sons, said: “We use Sandtex X-Treme X-Posure for its durability as it lasts longer in extreme conditions, which is needed for the lighthouse as it is exposed to a lot of salt, as well severe weather. For us, this is also the best product because it dries quickly.”

Nobu Hotel is a new development in Shoreditch, East London, and was opened by Hollywood legend Robert De Niro and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa in May 2018.The design of the five-storey building – which has 150 hotel rooms and suites – is a nod to the area’s industrial past with a ‘frayed edge’ look of stepped balconies formed with glass fibre, reinforced concrete and cantilevered steel beams. The design has also been likened to that of a cruise ship and received much critical acclaim.The roofing system covered 1500 sq. m, which included a green roof area and tiered balconies.
RailRoad seating & planters perfect solution for Westquay Shopping Centre

Westquay is an 800,000 square feet shopping centre spread over four levels and containing 150 retail units and restaurants. Furnitubes’ RailRoad range suited this site perfectly, allowing seating and planter modules to be joined and therefore be sufficiently heavy and stable to be used freestanding (so avoiding the need for intrusive foundations). Seating has been provided for up to 20 people, and 12 new planters introduce greenery to this previously somewhat austere building facade, creating an attractive setting for Westquay visitors to stop, rest for a moment and enjoy the outdoors on their walk between the car park and shopping centre.
The Invisible Kitchen, Paris, France

Living room and kitchen form a single area in many modern homes and often feature open-plan design. People cook where they eat and eat where they live.
The owners of the 150 m2 period apartment in Paris had a clear concept: Kitchen should be located close to the living room or, better still, be an integral part of it. To fulfil this wish, Dutch firm i29 interior architects designed a kitchen island that's really a piece of furniture. Unusually high MDF panels pivot easily and slide into the recess thanks to pivot/slide-in hardware HAWA Concepta 50.

The same applies to the solution developed by architects HLW International LLP in cooperation with Pulp Studio. Glass from floor to ceiling – not only a functionally convincing approach but also a concept with a high degree of aesthetic appeal. Pulp Studio's recommendation of using the Interzum award-winning HAWA Puro 100–150 hardware for all-glass sliding doors defined the perfect solution. Concealed suspension made it possible to achieve the ideal of "glass from floor to ceiling".

Exposed to high coastal humidity all year round and an annual average rainfall of over 2000 mm during the four month monsoon season, the hotel chose Accoya for its stability and natural appearance.
Accoya delivers outstanding levels of performance, including dimensional stability, class 1 durability and sustainability. Distributors RitikaaWood used 25 m3 of 16 x 150 mm Accoya boards to clad the hotel’s façades as well as the area surrounding its swimming pool, which the distributors also designed, manufactured and installed.
National Automotive Innovation Centre, University of Warwick Campus

Howe Green has supplied around 400 bespoke access covers to the £150 million National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC) being built on the University of Warwick campus.
The floor access covers were required to provide safe and easy access to building services concealed under the raised flooring.
The bespoke 7500 Series Medium Duty Stainless Steel covers were specified by award-winning architects Cullinan Studio.
A reduced depth was required to enable the access covers to be infilled with the same flooring used elsewhere in the raised floor system - calcium sulphate floor panels, with the stone pre-bonded
Victoria Gate Retail Facility

When architects ACME designed a new landmark retail facility in Leeds, the aim was to build a shopping centre fit for luxury brands. dormakaba supplied HSW-R glass sliding shop front systems, ES200 automatic sliding door entrances & MUNDUS patch fittings, to ensure a high performance access solution with elegant appearance.
150 panels across the arcade, was installed. HSW-R systems include an ITS96 door closer, concealed within frame for discreet appearance. The system’s double glazed panels are supported by aluminium ceiling suspended track avoiding any obstructions for wheelchair users. This creates an ideal access solution for retail entrance settings.
Burger King Case Study - Brise Soleil & Canopies

Last year, fast food chain Burger King added forty-eight new restaurants to their rapidly growing portfolio. Twinfix were approached by Ideal Building Systems to design, manufacture & install canopies and Brise Soleils at three of the sites in Kent, Clacton-on-Sea and Swindon.With over 30 years’ experience the Twinfix Technical Team had no problems designing structures to suit the requirements and budget of the client.Twinfix’s expert team designed, manufactured, and installed a brise soleil which covered all four sides of the restaurant at the first site in Swindon and fabricated lean to mono-pitch canopies with squared posts and 3mm thick solid aluminium sheet for roof, complete with brise soleil for rear, sides and front at the restaurants in Kent and Clacton-on-Sea.The structures served two purposes, while providing shelter, they also enhanced the aesthetics of the restaurants and complemented the building’s exterior.Each canopy spans 35 square metres and the roof comprises of pressed aluminium roof at a reduced pitch to fit inside the 150 depths of our frame, concealed gutters and downpipes and prepared for soffits by another contractor. The roofs were powder coated in RAL 3020 Traffic Red and squared aluminium posts powder coated to RAL 9006 White Aluminium.The Brise Soleils are constructed from our 150 x75 rectangular hollow section and had to accommodate some wiring for lights that were installed later by another contractor. These are a striking addition to the building fascia.The design of the proposed future sites look set to follow the same format and we look forward to working with Ideal Building Systems on the upcoming projects.

TRC was recommended by Julian Harrap Architects, thanks to our successful work at Cliveden House.The two-and-a-half-year project involved a thorough refurbishment of 150 sash windows, including sash window repairs, draughtproofing, and provision of ironmongery. We also applied high-performance secondary glazing to a further 52 windows.We also supplied and installed two large, uniquely designed roof lights to a challenging design specification. The Moorings is a high-end, self-build project in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Anglesey, Wales.This collaborative project, between MBC Timber Frame and WM Design and Architecture, consists of a three-bedroom, 250m2 detached private residence that has been designed and constructed to achieve the airtightness and thermal performance targets required to meet Passive House standards. The timber frame home has been built incorporating a range of low carbon building solutions from Partel including high performing breather membranes ECHOFOIL EXO and EXOPERM MONO 150 and also the phA Class Passive House Certified components IZOPERM PLUS vapour control layer and CONEXO MULTISEAL airtight tape.

More than 150 metres of UNIFOLD® was installed at HM Land Registry, Coventry.This installation utilized the UNIFOLD® patented clip-joint system designed to allow joints to be competently and successfully completed behind obstructions and where access is particularly difficult.The existing gutter systems installed on the roof of the building were manufactured from GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester).The GRP gutter joints had broken down due to thermal movement, for which this material is particularly prone.In order to ensure the integrity of the lining, system expansion joints were strategically introduced to induce Unifold to move in complete unison with the gutters beneath.This was the second HM Land Registry building to receive UNIFOLD®. The previous installation was in Leicester.

DOFF Cleaning at Aviva Building.

Recently, Purple Rhino were approached to clean the iconic Aviva building in York. The Aviva building has a long and rich history, built to house increasing staff numbers of what was then the Yorkshire Insurance company several decades ago. It is now a well known and beloved landmark in the city of York.They chose to tackle the project using the Stonehealth DOFF Integra system due to its unrivalled ability to gently remove a variety of unwanted matter, without causing any damage to this iconic and historic building.Stonehealth Rosette Approved, Purple Rhino recognise the DOFF Integra as the very best in steam cleaning equipment and note it’s proficiency in phased, sensitive cleaning. Architect: Guy Hollaway Architects Main Contractor: Buxton Building Contractors Installer: Colorminium Stone: Jura Beige Guy Hollaway Architects designed the competition-winning scheme for the new concert hall at Benenden School near Cranbrook in Kent. The project, completed in 2021, delivered a new combined concert hall; school hall and music department. The new school hall has a capacity of 750. The Concert Hall includes a 150 seat recital hall and digital media suites. This development, the largest in the school’s history, achieves the combination of brick and natural stone, in the form of Aztec Rainscreen with stunning success. The honed Jura Limestone angled soffits give the windows a superiority as well as realising more light into the building. Areas of the large panel 1200x450mm rainscreen achieve a modern look on this prestigious development.
