For the new office of one of the UK’s leading healthcare specialists, workplace interior design specialists, ID:SR – Sheppard Robson, specified the natural beauty of Forbo Flooring Systems’ Allura Flex Wood Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) to help ‘bring the outside in’. Occupying the first and second floor of a new seven-storey Grade A office building in Leeds, the healthcare specialist has brought over 250 staff together into one co-located environment. Expertly designed by ID:SR, the 25,000 sq ft space comprises a variety of agile work and social settings to support a range of activities, a dedicated client reception, meeting suite and lounge. “To support employee wellbeing, the office also engages with the principles of biophilic design, so we incorporated natural looking materials where possible to emphasise the connection between people and nature. The beautiful and realistic wood effect of Forbo’s Allura Flex Wood LVT supported this idea of bringing the outside in. Offering convincing, authentic visuals and excellent functional performance, we used the finish in prominent positions of the office as we felt the flooring supported the overall concept of the scheme.” Allura Flex Wood in the Weathered Oak colourway was fitted in a herringbone pattern with bursts of Seaweed Solid Oak, Charcoal Solid Oak and Smoke Solid Oak in the main reception and staff breakout areas. Thanks to its tackified installation, the high quality, dimensionally stable Allura Flex tiles provides answers to key issues such as limiting valuable downtime, the re-use of floors and minimising environmental impact, perfect for busy office spaces. What’s more, Surestep Material in Cool Concrete was specified in the kitchenette of the staff breakout area, where there is an increased risk of slip. The safety flooring combines outstanding slip resistant properties with differentiated design and through the use of Step Crystals, the natural colourway offers a clean, fresh look and improved cleaning and maintenance properties. The PUR Pearl finish ensures that it is stain and chemical resistant.

There was also the requirement for the washroom facilities to follow the corporate identity present throughout all Sainsbury's branches.

Precision micro, a UK based manufacturer of precision metal components for the automotive, aerospace and pharmaceutical industries were investing in a refurbishment of their photochemical etching facilities. The state of the art facility required a highly chemically resistant easy to clean floor finish. Various existing substrates needed to be pulled together to create one seamless finish with an integrated cove. Due to the chemicals utilised in the area, there is a risk of airborne corrosives attacking the metal ceilings, so an acid resistant protective coating was also required overhead.After extensive trials and chemical exposure testing, Remmers resin systems were selected for the works. For the ceiling, Epoxy BS3000 SG provided chemical protection to the galvanised steel surface and exhibited excellent adhesive properties after the steel was prepared using an ice blasting process. The floors were a mixture of existing resin finishes, new concrete and Polypropylene drain covers. A selection of priming solutions for the different areas were utilised including, Epoxy ST100, Epoxy MT100 and Epoxy BS3000 SG. Then topped with Epoxy Flex PH laid at 2mm and sealed with PUR Top M+. Victoria Residences is a bespoke collection 11 luxurious apartments and penthouses with elements of traditional British heritage blended with a contemporary and timeless design.
Replicating powerful Georgian features with modern thermal efficient technology was a primary driver for the architect selecting Licata Building Systems as the facade provider.
Specifying Licata Therm Eco, the installing partner used ashlar plus other decorative profiles to ensure the properties regal vision was achieved. The system was finished with a 1.5mm self-cleaning Silicone render to ensure the building retained that “just-applied” look for the longest possible period.
Decorative and seamless flooring supplied for atrium area to Radclyffe School

A new flooring finish was required for the atrium in the Radclyffe School in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
Because the atrium floods this area of the school with so much light through a Perspex roof, it meant that whatever was chosen had to be UV stable, hard wearing and safe.
The system also had to be economic, hard-wearing, easily cleaned, have low odour during application and chemical resistance, slip resistance and non-dusting.
Sherwin-Williams’ technical flooring experts looked at their diverse range of Resuflake options for this specific application covering 800 sq metres.
Virgin Atlantic hangar uses Resutile ST flooring

This Virgin Airlines hangar at Heathrow Airport needed a flooring finish to resist wear and chemical spills, as well as deliver aesthetic appeal – with a light coloured shiny finish that would reflect light and capture the eye to brighten the 4000 square metre area.ExecutionTo ensure the highest quality finish for the hangar the proven standard Resutile ST floor coating system was organised. Specialist resin flooring contractor Datum Flooring first shot-blasted the concrete substrate under vacuum to achieve a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) 3 to ensure an excellent mechanical key and long term solution with the coating system. Then a primer coat of Resuflor WB was applied which penetrates the concrete and provides a sound surface seal so that an even finish is achieved with the top coats. This was followed by two roller coats of Resutile ST Colour in Light Grey.

The vision behind the design was around transparency, visibility, and collaboration. The 17,000 square metre iconic building, which spans seven floors, includes large areas of collaborative space for students, visitors and staff to meet.Impressive AtriumCirculation around the Bristol Business School is obvious and highly visible from the main atrium where the Lusso 105 frameless double glazed system was installed. The system needed to be designed for imposed line load and potential wind load within the space. The glazed atrium, which is the heart of the building, incorporates a variety of social learning and flexible meeting spaces.Sleek DesignThe two wings of accommodation contrast to reflect the accommodation uses within and the orientation of the building on the site for environmental purposes. For these, the Lusso 105M double glazed framed system which complimented the other atria screens and enabled the slim ghost post mullion to incorporate the integral blind control mechanism.The multi award winning project was delivered to Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 maturity. The FIS, a representative body for the finishes and interiors sector, presented Lusso with the Silver Award in Partitioning for the Business School at their annual awards ceremony. These awards are held annually and are designed to ‘promote and encourage highs levels of craftsmanship’.
Leeds Town Hall – Chandelier Winch Systems Speed Up Efficiency and Improve Safety

The age of this building meant the maintenance and cleaning of the 7 600kg chandeliers had to be hand-operated by a 3-man team using an outdated lighting system. The costly annual cleaning could take up to four weeks, leaving the popular Victoria Hall unusable during this time.
The installation of an electric chandelier winch system has allowed them to complete this task safely in just under a week.
