As part of a framework agreement between Gatwick Airport and Galliford Try, Bourne Parking were appointed to design and build an above ground scope of works for the over decking of Gatwick South terminal’s long stay parking Zones F and G. The single suspended deck car park provides an additional 1,224 car parking spaces and was built to assist with achieving Gatwick’s objective of passenger growth. The project is Shield’s largest and fastest single deck car asphalting project to date, with 26,000m² completed in nine weeks.

Class A Office & Luxury Hotel Complex - creates an imposing sight on the skyline of Shenzhen in China. CHALLENGEIlam Park was a popular tourist destination in the Peak District with a parking problem. The main car park is paved with asphalt but their sloped overflow car park suffered from rutted, unsafe and uneven surfaces due to poor drainage and puddling. More asphalt would create water runoff and drainage problems elsewhere so a permanent and durable permeable paving solution was required.SOLUTIONHanpaveTM was chosen as it’s a freedraining system that’s tested to bear almost any vehicle. There are no more problems with rutting or uneven surfaces. It’s also highly durable, weather-resistant and made from 100% recycled plastic. When installed on a properly engineered permeable base (no pipes or ducting required!), it can be in-filled with gravel or grass for an attractive, stable base that becomes virtually invisible to the average user.CONCLUSIONHanpaveTM was installed in 2019. We called in on a very wet day in November 2022 and the HanpaveTM grids were in excellent condition. Surfaces were even, rutting was gone and, even in torrential rain, puddling could only be found in areas paved with asphalt – not HanpaveTM. Despite some extremely hot summers, Hanpave’s unique expansion absorbing design and professional installation have given Ilam Park an effective, longlasting and attractive solution to their overflow parking problems.

The new £250 million Alder Hey Children’s Hospital at Aintree, near Liverpool was completely rebuilt on neighbouring Springfield Park to integrate both hospital and park environments for the therapeutic benefit of the children requiring treatment. As Europe’s first hospital in a park, the outdoor space played a significant role in the development of the project. Hardscape worked in close partnership with contractors Laing O’Rourke and architects BDP to advise and supply a variety of coloured paving materials for the entire outside areas, designed to offer patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming space.

Originally designed and constructed as a basement car park for the offices above, the building was renovated and converted in to a luxury hotel. The car park became a habitable space including the kitchens and associated storage. ASF were specified to manufacture a 3kN channel mounted glass balustrade system for the viewing platform overlooking the Queens House and city of London, located beside the Wolfe Statue in the Greenwich Royal Park.They system used 25.5mm thick sentry glass comprising 2 layers of toughened glass with a 1.5mm clear laminate between them. This was mounted into our own mega-grip channel. This product meets the deflection requirements for both EU and the higher, British Standard.The handrail overlooks the Royal Park, the Queens House and the City beyond and hosts a handrail fixed through the glass as a 'leaning rail' for the comfort of the public. Etched into the glass at a low level is the Royal Parks logo. These adaptions take an already high end glass balustrade system and elevate it into a great looking bespoke product.

The Olympic Delivery Authority turned to Zaun to secure the near 20km boundary of the Olympic Park. A further 1.5km of Zaun fencing provided a ‘ring-within-a- ring’ around the Olympic Stadium. Zaun worked with Olympic Park contractor Skanska and stadium contractor BAM Nuttall to install 3.6m high fencing above ground, topped with 1.2m of electric fencing, with security properties specified by Olympic security advisers.

Grasscrete not only armored the spillway but on completion blended into the park surroundings.

The Copper Box. The Handball Arena was also constructed by Winchmore Brickwork and contains Naylor Hi-Spec Lintels. Designed by MAKE Architects, it is the only permanent indoor mixed sports arena in the Olympic Park to be retained, and Winchmore have just been invited back to make alterations and refurbishments in order to convert the building into the 'Multi Use Arena', or Copper Box as it is now called, as part of the Olympic Legacy for the Queen Elizabeth Park.

The Admiral Quay development comprises of eight high-rise residential blocks offering exceptional views from a prime location. Given Maple's established reputation for pioneering innovative architectural façades, the collaboration was a natural fit for this ambitious undertaking.Teaming up with contractor McLaughlin & Harvey and architect Cooper Cromar, Maple played a crucial role in bringing this impressive five-floor development to fruition.The centerpiece of the project was a 'living art' façade for the new car park, featuring a curved timber-clad steel enclosure inspired by nature. Enhanced by captivating landscaping and boardwalk frontage, the design sought to harmonize with the environment.The construction of this intricate feature façade involved the use of sustainable materials, including 700m2 of Corten steel cladding, 1,100m2 of vertical timber fins, and 1,200m2 of curved timber fins spanning 75m.Through the thoughtful combination of these materials, Maple successfully contributed to the creation of a visually stunning car park exterior that met both the aesthetic and structural requirements of the project.The Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre car park development served as a testament to Maple's proficiency in designing, manufacturing, and installing architectural facades for landmark buildings, employing sustainable construction materials and showcasing their commitment to excellence.

Cairngorm Mountain Resort is a popular tourist attraction in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. It is Scotland’s most popular mountain destination thanks to its extensive facilities for people of all ages.The site has undergone some major works over the past few years, including a funicular railway. Built on a 5.3-acre plot of land, Barnwood Distribution Centre sits alongside the A417 in Gloucester. Originally commissioned by client Amazon, the project was managed by Bowmer and Kirkland and delivered a 118,000sqm distribution centre that will now be sub-let to another company. The development includes a multi-storey van storage deck, offices and HGV and car parking spaces. We were pleased to supply polyester powder coated (PPC) Anvil metal cladding fins to the multi-storey car park.

These are the latest secure bike hangars manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. Spanning twelve sites for the Trust, Falco installed six Green Hangers and six Grey Hangers at sites including Slade House in Oxford, Marlborough House in Swinson and Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury.The bike hangars were commissioned exclusively for NHS staff, with all twelve new lockers providing staff with up to 72 cycle parking spaces, all within a sheltered lockable unit with secure access.The design of each bike hangar includes the trusts own logo, vibrant cycling graphics, instructional signage and powder coating in an attractive ‘White Aluminium or Moss Green’ RAL colour for additional durability.Each bike hangar takes up no more room than a single car parking space and is capable of accommodating all types of cycles - from road and mountain bikes to bikes with a child seat on the back or storage basket on the front.Falco design is both evolutionary and innovative by nature and the new FalcoPod is no exception.
