The goal was to create three 2-3 bedroom dwellings, a canal side café, commercial spaces for leisure companies, and a museum showcasing the canal's history and the lives of mill workers.ADDC Architects, renowned conservation experts, were entrusted with the task of designing the conversion. They skillfully worked around the intricate history of the original brick buildings, which had gone through multiple alterations and rebuilds in the 19th century. The architects aimed to preserve the unique character of the cottages while ensuring a functional layout suitable for their new purpose.The restoration process involved an incredible community effort, with local tradesmen, contractors, and volunteers coming together to bring the cottages back to life. The extensive work included clearing vegetation and debris, erecting scaffolding, reinforcing timbers, and salvaging original bricks and slates for rebuilding.One crucial aspect of the restoration was the installation of new timber windows. Gowercroft Joinery, a reputable local manufacturer with expertise in heritage and restoration projects, supplied the traditional Chatsworth sliding sash windows for the canal-facing elevations. Set in the heart of the West End, Duke Street is a high end area of commercialised buildings and expensive flats. Some of the listed properties on the street date back as early as the 18th century. Alumasc Rainwater’s range fitted perfectly in this setting. Painted Cast Iron and Heritage Cast Aluminium were specified by Latitude Architects.“The main objective was to provide and produce material as close to the original,” says Alumasc Rainwater. “Bespoke castellated guttering was installed with special curled ear belts to secure the pipes. Together they provided an exact replication of style to the original. We also custom-made guttering that was designed to fit at a specific angle and level of the building.”

Award-winning timber Conservation™ windows and doors by Mumford & Wood have been specified by Wide Sky Architects in the refurbishment of a 1930’s Arts and Craft property in Buckinghamshire which is typical of the local vernacular. When purchased two years ago the property was tired, dated and badly in need of total transformation both inside and out but now it is truly a ‘des res’. The property has been completely remodelled: the footprint of the original building retained with the benefit of two and three storey extensions made to either side giving a total area of 420m².

The new Cherry ward is an 18-bed acute mental health facility and was completed in July 2021. ATS were involved with the supply of door-sets, ironmongery and screens with many special anti-ligature features to increase patient safety and security.

Clement have replaced hundreds of industrial style steel windows at the newly restored Maple Building in Kentish Town, North West London. Dating back to the 1890s, the building has an interesting history. It was originally home to Maple & Co, furniture makers for the royal family. Then in the First World War sections of the factory were secretly modified to produce fighter plane components, canvas tents and other supplies for front line troops. More recently the building was used for office space until developers The Linton Group acquired it, turning an old converted warehouse into five floors of luxury apartments and penthouses.Interior architects, Gordon-Duff & Linton insisted upon a high specification throughout, focusing on strong acoustic and design performance. Clement W40 steel windows and Jansen double doors were the perfect choice, complementing the cosy, well-lit interiors that are a feature of the building, as well as offering superb quality and an impeccable match to the original fenestration.“The Maple Building is our flagship development. We recently completed a noteworthy project, supplying custom-designed sliding louvre doors for a delighted customer in Goring-On-Thames. Nestled alongside the picturesque River Thames in South Oxfordshire, Goring is known for its charming village and serene surroundings.The star of this project is a stunning detached house that now boasts the distinctive touch of Sunshield's sliding louvre doors. These panels, meticulously crafted to perfection, cover an expansive area, each measuring just over 5 square meters. While two of these panels gracefully glide along rails spanning 4.8 meters, the third panel commands an impressive 10-meter rail.One of the key highlights of this installation is the meticulous attention to detail. To ensure a flawless and seamless appearance, the rails were seamlessly integrated into the floor and ceiling during the house's construction phase. An urban luxury conversion in the heart of Nottingham City Centre. This project involved the contractor converting a commercial building within a conservation area into luxury apartments.There were various design issues that needed to be overcome, including curved on plan bays. The curved bays required a bay pole system to allow the installer to gain the necessary shape profile.An added challenge was window size. There were a number of large, multi-part windows in apartments accessed via tight staircases and small door openings. To overcome this we made some of the larger units in kit form and sent one of our experienced fabricators to site to assemble them in situ.A key requirement was noise abatement which was achieved with acoustic glazing and an optimal 100mm air gap, adding - on average - 35DB of noise reduction on top of that provided by the primary windows.The end result were minimal profiles matching original sightlines, coupled with significant thermal and acoustic performance improvements. 

In the substantial restoration of a large Georgian estate built for and inhabited by the aristocracy, high performance timber sash windows, French doorsets and entrance doors by Mumford & Wood have been used throughout the grand house and numerous outbuildings which span different periods. Two bespoke, 8m-span Rundum Original side sliding garage doors have enabled Evans Vettori architects to deliver on their thoughtful, sensitive vision for the modern new premises of a well-established firm of funeral directors in Buxton. Two Rundum Original ‘round the corner’ side sliding doors provide access to the garage for the company’s three large specialist vehicles. A second door designed and manufactured to a matching specification provides the same wide opening directly at the rear of the building, allowing the vehicles to be driven in with ease from the small courtyard.The building’s high quality design and excellent build standard by NSJ Contractors, which resulted in it making the shortlist of the East Midlands RIBA Regional Awards 2020, blends key aspects of the local vernacular with modern design and material choices, including a zinc standing seam roof that extends to form the outward-facing façade.Within this zinc façade is one of the two Rundum Original ‘round the corner’ side sliding doors by Rundum Meir UK that provide access to the garage for the company’s three large specialist vehicles. A second door designed and manufactured to a matching specification provides the same wide opening directly the rear of the building, allowing the vehicles to be driven in with ease from the courtyard to avoid any access or manoeuvring difficulties and making best use of the site’s space.

The refurbishment of this 1970s, three-storey home, set overlooking an idyllic forest and river, breathed new life into a property that previously lacked any real connection with its environment. The newly installed large Schüco lift-and-slide doors frame the garden and accentuate the expansive views.

Starting at the front of the house, we supplied double entrance doors with a screen above. We did a lot of work to design this front screen to ensure all the lead lined up across each of the windows. It has created a really grand entrance to arrive home to. Being the first thing you see and the first thing you touch, it sets the tone for the rest of the house.The windows in the front are floating mullion casements or fly-mullion casements. They still have a post so they look like the windows below, but when they open the post isn’t connected to the frame at the top and bottom. So the window opens in a similar way to French windows in order to meet escape regulations but also to maintain the same sightlines & visual appearance as the ground floor windows.Around the back of the house, there are a pair of 3-leaf folding doors looking out to the garden from the open plan kitchen, dining space. The doors on the right stack from left to right, and those on the left stack right to left. So that when they’re both open, they’re neatly folded away on either side.On the floor above there are traditional French doors opening out onto a balcony. As there is a bay below with French doors, fixed sidelights, and fixed returns we needed to make sure that the correct steels were put in place, so we worked closely with the homeowner and also our structural engineer. It’s a part of a duty of care, we need to make sure everything is correct and delivered to the highest standard. So if it’s something that we’re aware of from the start of the project, we can plan accordingly and deliver the best possible advice and products to meet the needs of our clients.The homeowner did a really nice detail inside with timber liner and architrave, actually ordering additional paint from us to keep all the internal timber matching exactly, which looks great. It’s these smaller details that just really finish the windows off nicely.All the windows and glazed doors are detailed with antique lead. It’s slimmer than glazing bars so you get more light flooding the rooms inside, but you still have a bit of interest on the large glazed panes. We choose to always use an aged lead so that it already has the desired colour. Newer leads tend to discolour and don’t look smart until they begin to age.

The entrance was required to be robust, safe, quiet in operation and stylish in appearance. record installed two 3000 mm wide, clear toughened glass, STA 20 sliding doors. Their secure, elegant and efficient operation is guaranteed by a self-controlling microprocessor which continually monitors inputs, including from the three safety sensors, and adjusts performance accordingly. In the event of a power failure the doors can be programmed to remain secure or to open to allow emergency access.
