The new office space offers employees a contemporary mix of alternative co-working environments and includes open plan hotdesking for 44 people, arranged in smaller ‘neighbourhoods’, two hot offices, five meeting rooms, two open/soft meeting areas as well as a well-being room and a large games area.The office’s urban location is represented throughout by Maze Workplace’s clever and creative choice of products. St Paul's Cathedral is Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece, built in glowing Portland Stone, crowned by the magnificent dome, a famous landmark on the skyline of the City of London.This programme saw St Paul’s repaired and cleaned inside and out, with greatly improved provision for those with disabilities and an enhanced visitor experience through the provision of new exhibition and interpretation galleries.Here at Albion Stone we regularly supply Portland stone to the Masons at St Paul’s Cathedral for maintenance and repairs. We supplied Portland Jordans Basebed and Whitbed for the South Churchyard Improvements. The stone has been used to create seating areas that reinforce the other side of the medieval cloister walk.

Ross-on-Wye’s skyline has formed the inspiration for new community facilities at a residential development.The iconic St Mary’s Church spire is reflected in the play area and recreation space created by Hand Made Places for families of St Mary’s Garden Village.The secure play area is surrounded by timber picket fencing and accessed via a bespoke arch double leaf gateway.The planed and sanded softwood arch is engraved to read St Mary’s Garden Village.Four further bespoke archways make up a fun walkway leading to a custom-built version of our Milton Play Unit.The play tower features a slide, rockhold ramp, ladder wall and stepped platform with a church-style spire to one end.A Hawkley Adventure Trail, Swing Steps and Bird’s Nest climbing frame are available for older children.And no play area is complete without the swings, with a Double Cradle Swing installed for little ones as well as a Nest Swing.A Star Stage brings role play to life for little ones, with timber Modular Radius Seating, including a bench engraved with the location, also available. Our cute little Hedgehog Animal Face is watching over everyone. Our installers laid a Bound Rubber Mulch safety surface in neutral green and brown colours.In addition to the play area installation, our parent company Broxap Street Furniture manufactured and supplied six Harrogate Senior Cycle Stands for community use. Four cast iron Blackburn Seats, finished with hardwood slats and a black frame, were provided along with a Derby Standard litter bin.

The new generation of M-Tray® modules were used on this office building in Poklington, Yorkshire. This project was in the heart of the Vale of Yorkshire, within and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and planning sensitivities dictated a green roof was needed on the office building. The clients wanted the existing farm buildings, which had been converted into offices and storage space, to blend into the hillside with the structures having the very lowest impact on the surrounding countryside.The timber framed building meant a low weight solution was required so the 100mm deep pre-grown modules were ideal.

The award-winning offices at the Angel Building!When they launched in late 2010, Angel Building was Derwent London’s largest redevelopment. Designed by AHMM architects with elegant and robust modern detailing, the six-storey office building is playing an important role in regenerating the area.Angel Building was shortlisted for RIBA Stirling Prize 2011 and has won awards from RIBA London, the British Council for Offices and New London Architecture. Within the first 13 months of opening it was fully occupied. Project was part of an office refurbishment, with the carpet installed throughout the general office space, breakout and meeting areas. Built by the side of the historic Silverstone Grand Prix racing track in Northamptonshire.The Brief in BriefThe project requirements demanded good DB ratings, full height doors, privacy for Mission Control with Smart Glass and privacy to Exec area with blinds. An Atrium to flood light into the ‘street’ below. Plus offices, meeting rooms, a Mission Control racing hub, a large Atrium screen over indoor areas, open plan design offices, breakout and communal areas.Komfort’s SolutionPrior to the start of the project we had numerous pre-start meetings with the design team and H&S visits with our external advisors to ensure the project would run smoothly from the start.To achieve a system and design the client desired, Komfort built mock-up sample office onsite during the design stage to highlight the design elements such as acoustic double glazed glass in Polar 100 and our deflection head system. We also supplied samples of our blinds, with the system in situ to demonstrate the operating fixtures and fittings. All samples were supplied in the clients choice of colour including matt black blinds to match the trackwork.The double glazed full length Atrium required teams working on both sides of the glass, installation from the office side and safety (fall arrest) from the street side. The atrium glazing over the machine shop area required glass lifting equipment, to ensure the fire rated glass could be sealed properly from both sides.The client made numerous changes to the design during installation, which had to be accommodated. The final project involved 800 sqm of glass and 50+ Sonik doors throughout the building site. Modular skylights improving office and warehouse conditions using natural lightThe VELUX Modular Skylight system was installed as part of a new combined office and warehousing space for third generation fabric design company, ROMO Fabrics. The use of natural light proved essential to the project and so 348 modules of the VELUX Modular Skylight system were specified and installed across the building. This included a VELUX Ridgelight solution to accentuate the entrances of the atrium and offer a glimpse of the internal space, as well as a VELUX Northlight solution within the office and design studios to provide soft, reflective lighting and a natural feel to the workspace.

Scarborough Sports Village includes Prospec Marathon Classic range throughout, with cantilevered and double island bench seating in matching solid grade laminate. Prospec Marathon wet lockers, which include an aluminium carcass for wet areas, are a mixture of 1, 2, 3, and 4 tiers, and feature our new £1 coin return lock. Other products included within our installation would be our Marathon Classic fully framed cubicles, postformed solid grade laminate vanity units and grooming shelves, and floor to ceiling IPS (duct panel systems). This project also features our Disabled Access lockers which comply with Sport England recommendations.

Innovative garden refurbBuilder Ian Gray embarked on a major garden refurbishment to build a skate park and BBQ garden room at his own family home in Fareham, Hampshire.Having never worked with Lindab Rainline before Ian selected a plain galvanised system to complement the stylish design of the timber building. A key feature of the building is a truncated hipped shape roof with a raised gutter which provides shelter for the entrance to a covered seating area. Ian said, “we did this build as an on site example of what we can do and have taken orders for 5 so far”, “Rainline was very nice to work with”, adding “Thanks to Lindab for such a great product and service”.

The Bard’s construction after experts from MoLA (Museum of London Archaeology) found remains of Shakespeare’s original wooden O stage and two sections of an exterior wall. With this, the opportunity arose to develop the area into a public open space with mixed offices, retail and residential apartments. This scheme became The Stage, where The Bard building was built.ChallengeWith various public access routes and private offices making up The Stage, the extensive fit-out had to include suitable security on The Bard offices to prevent unauthorised people from entering the building. Due to the nature of the project being a fit-out-out, it was key that the security solution wouldn’t interfere with other contractors carrying out work. The World Trade Centre in Marseille is a multi-functional office space with a conference and business centre. With a daily footfall of almost 1000 people spread over the 2500m2 of the convention centre and 600m2 of the business centre, the new space at City Center Vieux-Port underwent a redesign and renovation to accommodate a busy office environment.

Aldgate Tower is an office development that comprises 16 floors of Grade A revolutionary office space.ROCKWOOL products were specified for the insulation of pipework.A combination of non-combustible products provided thermal performance for the lifetime of the building, as well as providing a sustainable solution for the building that helped meet the BREEAM requirements for an 'Excellent' rating. 

When the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) were looking to move into their new Head Office, just off Princess Street in the heart of Edinburgh, Michael Laird Architects asked Planet Partitioning to put together a specification for the Category B fit-out of the existing building. Working closely with Souness & Boyne, Planet Partitioning used p100 frameless double glazing system throughout to create meeting rooms and offices with high acoustic performance, in a simple grey design. The eight-week job also involved installing minimal framework double glazed doors throughout the offices, to complement the p100 double glazed partitions.

The office had decided against the use of glasses and mugs in favour of individual and re-usable travel mugs for each member of staff. They wanted a tea point that reflected this dedication to sustainability. With over 200 members of staff and a modern monochrome aesthetic throughout the office, Gymshark decided a Matte Black Billi was the right fit.

111 The Strand, is an eight storey landmark office and retail building in central London. The property occupies a corner position on the Strand with a return frontage to Savoy Place. The majority of the 30,549 ft² office space is let to CVC Capital Partners.The iconic building is well-known for its contemporary appearance. The limestone façade with metal frames with curved bays of stone and glass, and a stone relief depicting the surrounding area truly stands out.With the recent acquisition of the long leasehold office building, the private equity firm CVC Advisors Ltd found it time for a complete refurbishment. The existing reception area and office floor 1 to 6 were stripped and upgraded to Category-B Standard. This is inclusive of new MEPH installations and a commercial kitchen fit out to service the meeting room suites and dining areas.Stravifloor Channel, a floating floor system using isolated steel channels with proprietary elastomeric pads, four layers of plywood, and a special damping layer was installed in the catering kitchen on the 5th floor of this fit-out project. The isolated steel batten system with enhanced stiffness was designed to minimise the transfer of impact noise to the office floors below.During the installation, an elastic Perimeter Strip was applied around the floors’ perimeter, to completely decouple it from the building structure.

The project comprised a large office development of approximately 16,660 square meters of office floor space arranged over 7 storeys.Situated in the business centre of London in one of the London Borough of Camden’s conservation areas, Finsbury Square utilised the traditional Portland Stone element of the surrounding buildings and combined it with contemporary design practices.

Leicester based fabricators SB Aluminium Services were key to the success of the transformation of the offices of Crowland Cranes in Peterborough. The makeover of the business premises was driven by the desire to create a modern and striking frontage to the offices. Kestrel Aluminium System’s low rise curtain wall, 60mm windows and commercial doors were specified throughout the building.

Ingram Micro is one of the largest distributions of IT products and services in the world. The new office in Diegem, Belgium, is a large rectangular space with little daylight. When designing the new office not one wall was allowed to connect straight to another. Everything had to be slanted to enhance this concept, a herringbone design from Allura LVT was chosen for this floor.

The UK’s leading telephone answering specialist Moneypenny had steadily been growing since its inception in 2000. Its main business is looking after telephone calls for businesses.To no one’s surprise, the company found itself struggling for space to accommodate its ever-expanding workforce. Staff ended up occupying five adjacent offices, which were physically separated from each other, as was the staff.A solution had to be found. It was decided to invest in and create a new modern office building befitting the growth and success of a successful modern-day enterprise.Moneypenny engaged the help of AEW architects to design a new and exciting office environment. With space to house 1,000 staff, Moneypenny wanted to have a new headquarters, which were both efficient office spaces, as well as a great environment for its staff to operate in. Staff members were asked for ideas for their new work environment. The industry norm was challenged and the resulting designs were an antithesis to most modern office buildings.Pochin Constructions were chosen as the main contractor to build the new headquarters. A 10-acre site was chosen in the open countryside for the amazing new office space, miles away from any inner city environment with all its noise and distractions.In turn, RCM were asked to supply its 12mm Cemboard to the construction, because of the building board’s excellent acoustic properties, which were a major consideration for the construction of the call-centreEventually, a 91,000 sq ft building had been designed and built, to create the perfect environment for call handlingThe end result was an amazing building, with plenty of natural day-light, excellent office facilities, with great down-time areas, complete with a tree house and a pub.Moneypenny’s new headquarters have exceeded everyone’s expectations. Situated in East London, Royal Albert Dock is an exciting regeneration project worth £1.7bn. The new commercial district boasts 4.7 million sq ft of office, residential, retail and leisure spaces. The finished office building boasts a welcoming design with zoned areas in Amtico LVT and carpet to sensitively balance wellness in the workplace with efficiency.

The new office called ‘The Workshop’ positioned at the heart of Lonsdale Square was officially opened in the summer, it provides their growing team with a fully flexible workplace supported by a dedicated VR environment, garden and space to inspire. With over 40 members of staff and a modern aesthetic throughout the office, HLW decided the two Matte Black Billi systems was the right fit.

Chichester House was a redevelopment of office space inthe heart of Belfast City Centre. The redevelopment converted the building into a mixed-use space with Grade A office and retail space.The original structure, known as Londonderry House, wastransformed adding an additional 3 storeys to existing 6.The building’s location also proved a challenge as spaceand access were restricted.

To meet the modern and collaborative design requirement, whilst also serving the function of private spaces, Komfort’s Kross Glaze 600 full transom glazed partitioning system and door sets were installed. Also, to complement the office design for both aesthetics and performance, a mixture of acoustic and feature reeded glass was installed to suit the independent office briefs.

Yeoman Shield FalmouthEX Wall Panels in Red, Stainless Corner Angles, Special Timber Pattress (covered in Black PVC), Duo Fender (Black with Red inner) and Stainless Steel Footrail were supplied and installed throughout the Mount Pleasant depot. D Fender and a Special Pattress Duo Fender along with HD100(H) High Vis Heavy Duty Corner Protection were installed in the van delivery and collection loading bay.

Whilst certainly not the most iconic or largest project the A1S Group has ever been involved with, 125 Deansgate in Manchester in many ways represents for us "a bread and butter project", the like of which we are involved with throughout the UK on an almost monthly basis. Despite the doom and gloom of office rationalisation during the pandemic, high end office new build and cat A and B refurbishment continues to be one of our strongest sectors. We have completed literally hundreds of office projects over the last decade including We Work premises throughout London and the UK, Goldmann Sachs, Barclays at Canary Wharf and Norfolk House in St James Square, London. Fire and smoke curtains continue to be integral to modern office design, allowing for more open spaces within the building's wider fire strategy framework. The A1S Group manufactured, installed 54 Flameshield fire curtains, all with smoke seals and multi function panels. For us, the 125 Deansgate building was noteworthy as it was the first time that we installed our high performance Flameshield EW120 fire curtain to provide a minimum of EW90 compartmentation. We also manufactured and installed our a Flameshield fire and smoke curtain system to provide 120 minutes integrity and 15 kw/m2 to protect the lift and lift shaft. This striking building is clad in a rich red terracotta with 12 storeys of flexible office and retail space all achieving BREEAM 'excellent' and is now considered one of Manchester's premier offices. The A1S Group have a long term planned preventative maintenance in schedule in place to comply with the 2005 Regulatory Reform Order.

Designed by Grafton Architects, Town House is a mixed-use teaching facility at Kingston University. The interior is arranged around a series of interlocking, open plan spaces, where Junckers’ solid hardwood flooring features as part of limited materials palette. Junckers’ 140mm Textured Nordic Oak Classic flooring clads the treads and risers of the imposing staircase in the triple height courtyard, as well as providing a hard-wearing floor surface for seating areas. Junckers’ oak flooring promotes a healthy indoor climate. All-natural, solid hardwood is free of chemical substances which adversely affect indoor air quality. Junckers has completed EPDs for all its floors to aid specification for sustainable and net zero carbon projects.
