Hudson Quarter is a prestigious, multi-award-winning, mixed-use development of 127 apartments and 9,570m2 of Grade A office space. The apartments are housed within three residential buildings with one office building based around a central courtyard. The sustainable project achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating upon completion.  The site, previously an existing 1960’s office building is based in a highly sensitive location within the ancient city walls of York. Sensitively designed to sit comfortably within its historic setting, Hudson Quarter has been created respecting its past whilst embracing 21st century working and living.  A dedicated parking area was incorporated into the design, available for both office staff and residents. Tobermore worked closely with the design team to ensure appropriate hard landscaping was chosen for the large car park adjacent to Hudson Quarter.  Tobermore’s Artro block paving was perfect for Hudson Quarter as it can withstand significant trafficking and its clay-like look adds a heritage feel with a modern twist to the hard landscaping. The herringbone laying pattern was specified, not only for appearance, but also because of its trafficability. 

After almost 30 years, Bellway Homes has relocated to a new purpose-built headquarter office building. Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, the company have settled into the newly formed energy- efficient Airview Park adjacent to Newcastle Airport.  The company were previously based in a small, listed property with cellular offices that were no longer fit for purpose. With light and spacious open-plan office space, the move was the perfect opportunity to support the company’s growth.  The facility houses 100 staff members and include high-spec welfare facilities including a gym, breakout room and a roof terrace. The state-of-the-art office space also features a new training hub providing educational facilities for Bellway Academy. Benefitting from a rich landscape setting, the overall design concept was to create a ‘Pavilion in a Park’. With this in mind, the external design was equally as important as the building itself. Various Tobermore block paving and permeable paving products were used. The hard landscaping featured Tobermore’s award winning paving product Braemar. The premium product fulfilled both aesthetic and design aspirations.

Due to the pliability of Furnflex, the liner was able to take up an oval shape in the chamber giving it the full 350mm required. This building is an extremely busy high-profile office block therefore minimum disruption to day to day business was required.Statement of workFollowing an onsite survey, Furanflex was deemed the ideal solution to line both chimneys. The installations were carried out over two weekends, one for each chimney, with no disruption to the office operations. The project completed on time and within budget.

This 7-million-pound refurbishment, completed in 2021, saw the transformation of this financial institution’s office building become a luxurious and inspiring workspace. Situated on the corner of Leman Street and Braham Square, directly above Aldgate East tube station, One Braham is a new eighteen-storey commercial office building and home to leading technology, media, and telecoms company, BT. The redevelopment of One Braham, formerly Beagle House, was completed last year, with the renovation providing 298,000 sq. ft of Grade A office space and 10,000 sq. ft of ground-floor retail space.

Initially, Billi supplied over 8 systems to their HQ at Titan Court before extending the order to their brand new office space. Renowned for its colourful, bold designs, JA!COCO! has transformed Beer52’s Edinburgh office into a glorious dynamic, flexible and bold space, highlighting the beauty of the Georgian townhouse it is situated in, whilst embodying the brand’s strong identity.As the world’s biggest beer subscription service, Beer52 wanted an office space that was colourful and playful – the crazier JA!COCO! went, the better! Taking inspiration from Roald Dahl and David Lynch, the office space now boasts grand, arched-entrance swing doors, beer taps on receptions and floor-to-ceiling custom window blinds – to name just a few. On the first floor, an eclectic zig zag flooring design has also been created, using Forbo’s Flotex Colour range in the Melon (a burned orange shade) and Crystal (a heather-like hue) colourways. In fact, the colourways influenced the colour scheme for the office space, with similar shades adorning the walls, ceilings and swing doors.JA!COCO! also chose to install Forbo’s Allura Click LVT planks in the Blond Timber colourway throughout the hallway and kitchen spaces, to complement the more ‘stripped back’ décor, which has an almost bar-like atmosphere.

Moneypenny engaged the help of AEW architects to design a new and exciting office environment. With space to house 1,000 staff, Moneypenny wanted to have a new headquarters, which were both efficient office spaces, as well as a great environment for its staff to operate in. In turn, Pochin asked RCM to supply its 12mm Cemboard to the construction, because of the building board’s excellent acoustic properties, which were a major consideration for the construction of the call-centre.

Google needed to have a high acoustic performance paired with an open looking office space. They wanted to implement their office design and colours on to our partitioning system, giving them a fun and vibrant look to the space. Our solution was to use our Double Glazed Quartz system paired with our timber doors. 60 London Wall is an icon mixed use office & retail building in the dynamic heart of London’s City, with 328,500 sq ft of grade A office accommodation situated over ten stunning floors. It was recently completely renovated and Alliance Bernstein now occupy space within the building. The existing raised access floor was overlaid with Knauf GifaFloor FHB18 making it the ideal substrate to receive a combination of ceramic tiles & micro-screed cement

Wood Goldstraw Yorath was faced with a large undertaking when designing the new Bet365 Office Headquarters in Staffordshire. But Tobermore was on hand to help make the job easier with the supply of hard landscaping products suitable for the contemporary new building.The new 13,000 sq. m. base was built on the site of the former Sentinel Newspapers office in Media Way in Stoke-on-Trent and is nearly double the size of the Bet365’s previous headquarters at Festival Park in the area.

Located in the new Nine Elms Regeneration Zone, Vauxhall Sky Gardens comprises a mix of commercial and residential space, including a single- storey podium, an eight-storey block and a 36-storey tower block. Vauxhall Sky Gardens consists of 194 private, six shared ownership, two penthouses and 35 affordable apartments, with seven floors of commercial office space within the tower providing over 4,000 square metres of office space.

Located in the new Nine Elms Regeneration Zone, Vauxhall Sky Gardens comprises a mix of commercial and residential space, including a single- storey podium, an eight-storey block and a 36-storey tower block. Vauxhall Sky Gardens consists of 194 private, six shared ownership, two penthouses and 35 affordable apartments, with seven floors of commercial office space within the tower providing over 4,000 square metres of office space.

The £20million project, known as M-SParc, is a subsidiary of Bangor University and boasts labs, office space and business support to companies. Completed in February 2018, Menai Science Park in Anglesey is already making waves throughout the landscaping and architecture industry. The facility is officially Wales’ first dedicated science park, offering a staggering 31,200 square feet of lettable space which includes 45 offices, 23 laboratories and two double height workshops.

With a purpose-built development on the cards in its home town of Wrexham, Wales; Moneypenny had a 10-acre plot with which to design a new office space which could house up to 1,000 employees. However, unlike many traditional office projects of this nature; Moneypenny approached the building design in a very unique way. The £15m headquarters’ top line brief was to create a development which would literally ‘put a smile on people’s faces’.

As well as boasting stylish details and designer furniture, the modern office gives Aros Kapital staff access to a personalised, barista-quality coffee experience through their TopBrewer coffee machines.The Aros Kapital team installed TopBrewers in three different areas throughout the office to provide a consistent experience for all staff. Thanks to both its high-quality coffee and also its innovative features like the intuitive app, TopBrewer has been well received by staff, and the Aros Kapital team are already planning to expand the fleet of TopBrewer machines.“I can really recommend TopBrewer. It fits in very well with our environment and design which we have in our new office.”

McCormick specified that they needed staff, office and visitor lockers and Helmsman supplied. We site surveyed the facility before manufacturing of lockers started to make the most use of the space.We installed five compartment and eight compartment garment dispensers and several garment collectors for the staff changing room on the lower floor. These metal lockers were powder-coated in ‘Smoke’ and ‘Forest Green’ RAL colours to separate the areas. The two and four compartment essential metal lockers made their way to the back end of the changing room in ‘Smoke’ and ‘Royale Blue’ specifically for visitors. The two and five compartment laminate lockers in Abet ‘Ice White’ decorated the upstairs offices. These lockers needed to match the modern style of the office, with the idea to try and blend the lockers into the white walls. All lockers came with either cam locks or hasp & staple locks for extra security.

Merchant Square was the largest Grade A office development ever to be undertaken in Belfast at the time of completion. Aluprof systems were used to help transform an existing office block with a completely new building envelope. The building has been entirely let to PwC and is their biggest office space outside of London with 3,000 employees.The external envelope was completed using Aluprof's MB-SE75 unitised curtain wall facade system and was then specified in an anodised finish, which then contrasts with the external Corten steel used in a vertical column emphasis to meet the architects design. With the rise in use of unitised curtain wall systems for medium sized projects, this option is becoming a real alternative to a traditional curtain wall solution, especially as costs are becoming more competitive. Unitised systems can also offer up to a 50% reduction in installation periods which can offer significant savings on the project programme.

The scheme comprises an acre of landscaped public realm set between two statement office buildings totalling 500,000 Sq Ft.ChallengeMake Architects approached Meesons with the challenges of keeping the reception of 2 London Wall Place reception design as a modern, warm, welcoming space but with a bespoke anti-tailgating solution. Also, as this was set to be a busy office space, high throughput was expected; therefore, a solution that could cope with higher levels of traffic was necessary. Installed alongside some interesting brass architectural detailing, TECHNAL aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling has been specified and installed at Heathervale House, transforming the outdated office development. Situated in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, Heathervale House is a commercial property that has been used as an office space for decades. Originally clad in brick, slate and hung tile, the building had shown signs of disrepair, looking tired and dilapidated. To bring it back to life, the building owner developed plans to undertake a wide scale refurbishment and extension of the property. Following a feasibility study, the building was handed across to design-led architectural practice MortonScarr. From the outset, MortonScarr recognised how important updated glazing systems would be in improving the aesthetics and performance of the building, both internally and externally. Previously, Heathervale House had featured small, brown-framed windows, which limited how much sunlight those inside the offices received throughout the day. The entire facade of the three-storey building was re-clad with concrete tiles, with interesting projecting brass window boxes also incorporated. The window boxes, which feature TECHNAL systems, added visual relief to the building externally, whilst maximising internal vistas for the occupants. TECHNAL also assisted on a large rear extension, a new glazed lift to the front and two additional fully glazed storeys on top of the existing roof. Flooding the new office spaces with daylight, the large glazed expanses are shaded by two-storey bronze louvres. As a result the newly fitted office now brings in much more natural light than before.

Fitzroy Place is a multi use space for office, residential and retail estate in Fitzrovia, London. 

THE PROJECTXE in Bracknell was looking for a solution to their ever-growing parcel delivery problem. As with many other places of work, various couriers were arriving daily to deliver packages, and it was starting to be a full-time job for the already-busy Reception staff!When Reception staff were unavailable, office employees had to attend to couriers and manage the parcel deliveries themselves. It was affecting overall productivity and managers were receiving complaints.SEARCHING FOR SOLUTIONSAs a forward-thinking office space, XE proactively approached The Safety Letterbox Company part of Renz Group to provide a parcel management solution. With some changes in personnel approaching, the company wanted a ‘Smart’ reception area that could enable private parcel deliveries to the office. They needed a system that was as autonomous as possible which would reduce potential distractions from primary office workers, as well as freeing up time for any new reception staff.ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEE BENEFITThe system is evidence that XE is a forward-thinking and modern employer, who wants their employees to feel valued and looked after.The convenience of having a streamlined intelligent parcel management system at the office also helps to reduce stress levels in the workforce and increase employee engagement. As well as the option to develop a bespoke delivery process, there are several standard processes available.STRAPPED FOR SPACEThe space that XE had available for myRENZbox was relatively small and allowed for a system to be placed in an alcove in the reception area, just outside of the closed access doors to the primary office. Three full-width extension modules fitted the size of the area exceptionally well and would easily cater for the number of potential users. Now in situ, it looks like the system was explicitly designed to fit the space.

Aurora is a first-class, highly sustainable office building in the heart of the city of Bristol and one of the greenest offices outside London and among only six in the UK to achieve a special BREEAM 2014 Outstanding Environmental Award for its sustainability credentials. Aurora, which provides 95,000 square foot of Grade A office space on the Floating Harbour, also achieved LEED ‘Gold Standard’ and is currently the only building in Bristol to exceed BCO design guide criteria.The aim of the design was to provide a space that is efficient, offers maximum natural daylight and promotes health, wellbeing and productivity amongst users. To achieve this inspiring working environment Lusso provided and installed the glazed partitions to create a stunning glass atrium within the 7-storey building. This was a challenging design which involved close collaboration between Lusso, Bush Consultancy, and Willmott Dixon to create a system where the framework floated off the slab edge. The structural complexity of this atria required a bespoke solution, which involved close collaboration with the architects from conception.The Lusso 25M single glazed framed system was used within the interior of the building which allows the maximum amount of daylight possible uniformly spread throughout the interior making Aurora, arguably, one of the best office space Bristol currently has to offer.

The Grade II* listed building, Sir John Ramsden Court was to be transformed from 12 existing residential flats to office accommodation for the University of Huddersfield, to provide 670 sqm of office accommodation.As part of this transformation, the main contractor Britcon sought a solution to achieve Approved Document E of Building Regulation. With our vast experience with educational projects in the past, we were keen on adding such a respected educational establishment to our portfolio. We supplied our Soundis ChipPanel 28.

Majunga Tower is a reinvention of an office block. The facades are articulated thanks to 3 bands, over 39 storeys reaching 195 meters high. This singular building has a double-skin envelop. It is made out of glass and aluminum, to allow natural light into the offices while keeping the views and a visual connection to its context. Our motorized BSO with C50 blades are integrated into this facade for complete adaptability of light and shades throughout the day. This efficient system cut lighting and air-conditioning energy consumption.

The “44 Floors” in Rotterdam is the residential West Tower in the building complex “De Rotterdam”, completed at the end of 2013. The multi-functional building on the Wilhelmina Pier was designed by OMA, the office founded by Rem Koolhaas, as a vertical city offering a total floor space area of 160,000 m2 with offices, restaurants, a hotel and leisure facilities, in addition to the “44 Floors” apartments and parking spaces. The exquisite luxury apartments were fitted out with sanitary objects of the Subway collection from Villeroy & Boch.

Three Pancras Square is a Grade A office building located at the corner of King’s Boulevard and Goods Way. The building is part of a two million sq ft cluster of 12 office buildings south of the Canal. Six tube lines, two mainline stations and Eurostar are within a two-minute walk. Working with the architect we helped them in specifying the our flagship INTRAflex XT Entrance Matting. We chose a design that would blend in well with the buildings character and add tremendous aesthetic value.
