Union Industries has supported a leading food service company with its energy efficiency policy, following the installation of one of its market-leading high-speed roller doors. Leeds-based Union Industries was engaged to install one of its Eiger Doors to prevent the build-up of condensation and ice. The Eiger Door was designed specifically to suit BAKO’s requirements, which was mounted on the Non-Frozen side in an airlock between the warehouse and the freezer, with one of Union’s E1000 dehumidifiers installed within the freezer above the airlock ceiling, to minimise the amount of ambient air making its way into the facility’s freezer area

With over 22,000 square foot and 8 bedrooms, we manufactured in total, 13 Casement windows, 46 Spring Sash windows, bi-fold doors, 17 Conservation doors, two entrance doors and side doors.The client was keen to keep the windows and doors classy and elegant, and opted for 'Signal White' across all the windows, apart from the Japanese roof garden, where the Casement Windows were painted 'Anthracite Grey'.The huge entrance doors were finished in 'Jet Black' on the outside, with a high gloss finish, and Signal White on the inside, to match the interiors.We worked very closely with Croft Ironmongery as the client wanted a specific aesthetic achieved. Together, we developed lever handles on a rose, rather than a backplate, to bespoke fit our doors.With indoor pool and jacuzzi, tennis courts, lifts and staff quarters, this was truly a luxurious project, fitting perfectly with our hand-finished products.

Staybridge Suite is located close to the main entrances to Terminals 1,2&3 of Heathrow Airport and now home to Helmsman Lockers. Our client chose bespoke Helmsman Heavy Duty Two Door Lockers with combination locks and engraved numbers and rovere fumo laminate doors and side panels. Aswell as restoring the buildings exterior and interior, MorganMcDonnell Architects have also redeveloped the areabehind these old Georgian houses, linking the 3 centraltownhouses to a contemporary lightweight glass and ETFE(a fluorine based plastic) covered courtyard to provide32,000 ft2 of grade A office space.The balanced contrast between the old exterior andmodern interior is reflected throughout the building’s fabric,especially it’s ironmongery. A traditional oval design wasapproved for the knob handles as it provided the mostgrip available. A polished chrome finish was chosen asMorgan McDonnell Architects wanted a modern feel to thehardware whilst being traditionally sensitive to the age ofthe building. Initially Morgan McDonnell Architects wantedto use lever handles, but due to the listed status of thebuilding and the design of the doors (many of the originaldoors were refurbished) a knob handle was deemed themost suitable.Working with Morgan McDonnell Architects, Allgood Plcprovided a combined ironmongery and access controlpackage that included: hinges, door closers, locks, kickplates, signage and concealed electromagnetic locks. Allitems Allgood provided were delivered on time and withinthe clients budget.

The Lucent Development creates balance that boosts productivity and wellbeing.Lucent W1 is quite literally built around nature, with a tree towering in the central atrium and an internal green wall that stretches the full height of the world-famous external lights. The innovative Fletcher Priest design has created offices that are cocooned away from the surrounding city, while 20 terraces allow panoramic views across the capital.For this design, Selo used the Quarda Riser Door which are the most high-performance metal riser doorsets. Perfect for concealing fire-rated riser doors, access panels, and internal doors in corridors, landings, and other access areas; Quadra+ is supplied as an integral, four-sided frame and door system, pre-constructed to form a single robust unit. Ideal for hidden commercial access solutions, Quadra+ is designed and manufactured to the highest standards.

TrägerHAUS, an award-winning exclusive new home by HAUS Collective, is designed to take into account every aspect of the external envelope’s design to ensure consistency of form, quality and optimum aesthetic appeal.Whilst the scale and main volume of TrägerHAUS may not be apparent at street level, careful consideration of the materials for the home’s outward-looking elevation and main entrance. Key to this was the decision to utilise an elegant side sliding sectional garage door by Rundum Meir. The door’s manufacture in Siberian Larch ensures consistency with property’s other timber cladding elements which perfectly complement the Caithness stone masonry. Fully automated for ease of opening and closing, the garage door operates with the smoothness and reliability that reflects the level of quality which runs through the whole building.

The high-quality health and fitness changing facilities were fitted with leisure glass lockers in the form of our leisure lockers in one compartment, two-compartment and three compartments fitted with 10mm glass-silk blue doors. We also supplied cubicles, bench seating, IPS which complemented the area. The wet side changing and dry sports changing areas were supplied with leisure lockers. Locker doors were selected from the Formica range in a mix of violet, heather and grey, red, yellow and oak, leaf green, lime and grey and tropical blue, blue and grey.

The lightwell lift includes caged, enclosed sides to secure the load and prevent the risk of anything falling from the platform onto people below. Interlocked doors were fitted to prevent any accidents whilst the goods lift is in use. Interlocks ensure that the lift will only operate whilst the doors are locked shut, opening again once the lift has travelled to the level required. This provided the team with a safe and efficient lifting solution when moving their big commercial bins from below ground to pavement level. The 500kg capacity allows deliveries to be taken from kerbside to the basement.

Providing a hermetically sealed entrance to the National Treatment Centre in Inverness, Scotland

Spearheading an ambitious programme of regeneration, Canada Water Library resembles an inverted ‘ziggurat’ – a terraced pyramid of successively receding storeys – that partly overhangs the Canada Water basin.The £1.4m building sits at the edge of a civic plaza and a stretch of open water. The expanding pyramid form integrates a compact footprint at ground level with progressively wider floors above. The building is clad in light bronze anodised aluminium panels with sequined perforations, interspersed with recessed curtain wall screens. This design gives the project a sculptural appeal and a striking visual effect.Finished in bronze anodised aluminium, the structural sealant glazed facade and commercial doors were specified for the ground floor. A Visible Grid Facade has being used for the strips of curtain walling to the three upper floors, with top hung concealed vents and aluminiumdoors providing access to the balconies.The library forms part of the vibrant quayside at Canada Water - a historic Docklands that was once a bustling port. It was designed to exemplify the importance of the library, education and community facilities for local people and focus on the new phase of regeneration.

10 South Colonnade is a modern office development located in the heart of Canary Wharf, providing 560,000 sq ft of Grade A office space. It now serves as a government hub housing multiple government departments.Background Situated in the vibrant Canary Wharf area, 10 South Colonnade serves as the office hub for civil and public servants in East London. The relocation from Whitehall is part of an initiative to modernize the Civil Service in line with the then-new Workplace Plan.ChallengeThe client sought a company experienced in the government sector, understanding its associated risks. With numerous employees moving through the building, they needed an entrance solution that could handle highthroughput demands while providing enhanced security features.Solution To cope with the high numbers of staff transiting through the building daily, Meesons installed fifteen lanesof EasyGate SPT, consisting of thirteen standard-width lanes and two wide access lanes, across two entrances.To complete the secure line to the escalators and lift lobbies, cabinet-hung and post-mounted infill were used to secure the space at the sides of the Speed Gates.The EasyGate SPT-G was specified due to the glass wing barriers' quick opening and closing speed, allowing the transit of up to 40 people per minute. The SPT Speed Gate also offers a holding force over 650N, preventing the wings from being forced open by unauthorised users.

Union Industries is helping a growing Berkshire manufacturer to keep its new facility extension properly segregated.Union Industries designed, manufactured and installed a Picadoor and two Static Fabric Industrial Partitions to create a 3-Sided static enclosure. The Picadoor, which was originally created as a bespoke product for an existing customer, is one of Union Industries’ smaller, lighter weight, fast acting doors and helps to maintain temperatures and reduce energy consumption in small internal applications. The door has a variable speed motor, inverter system inside the panel for controllability and is ideal for small internal doorways where regular access is required, but environmental conditions also need to be maintained.

Eluviis OÜ an interior designer asked TK-Team if they could help with a noisy area in a new sprts centre in Finland. We specified a bright and airy combinaation of Hush Light Round acoustic panels  they were both hung from the ceiling and mounted to the wall. It helped to eliminate reverb and reduce unwanted noise. In addition, thes coloured panels were in different shades and suspended levels adding a little playfulness to the room.

The new £18.9 million Wallyford Primary School opened in February 2019.The school is the first of two to be built in the Wallyford area amidst the construction of 2,050 new houses in the area.Broxap were chosen to supply all external street furniture, cycle shelters and a Keep It Kool canopy.Products included a series of ‘Fallowfield‘ concrete seats which were dressed in Grey BG01 Dressed finish. FSC certified Hardwood Timber planters.Cycle parking is facilitated via Broxap’s Cambridge Junior Shelters with Sheffield Stands beneath.A waterproof Keep it Kool Shade Cairns sail was provided with a Moss Green coloured fabric. This was positioned above a bespoke steel framed bench featuring FSC hardwood Radial Slats, planed and sanded.Also provided in areas around the school were a series of Broxap Synergy 200 MDPE Recycle Bins with general waste and plastic bottles and cans indicators on alternate sides.Roddy Clark, project director for hub South East said, “We’ve delivered a first-class facility for pupils and staff alongside a range of benefits for the wider community. A great deal of work has gone into the design and construction of the new school and the feedback received so far has been extremely positive.”

The school initially requested 20 integral finger guards as part of an extension built offsite by Portakabin in 2014, and loved our finger guards so much that they later decided to replace all of their cracked plastic finger guards with our retrofit option, installing 80 of our finger guards in total.

A spacious and beautifully proportioned Georgian farmhouse situated in rural Broadland, Norfolk has been sympathetically and carefully renovated by an award-winning developer. Sash windows, bi-fold and French doorsets from the Lomax + Wood Kensington & Chelsea range have been installed throughout the property.Oversized French doorsets in the formal reception room provide ample daylight and easy access to the extensive gardens. With an elegant, bespoke fanlight which extends almost to ceiling-height and has been designed with a classic Diamond pattern. Lomax + Wood produce made-to-order timber sash windows with either spring balanced operation or traditional cords and weights.

Architect: AR Design Studio. Sitting on a steep hillside overlooking the River Avon on the Hampshire and Dorset border, Folding House is a stunning three-storey contemporary home that feature six sets of IDSystems' theEDGE2.0 narrow framed aluminium sliding doors. The sloping site provided the inspiration for the design, with the lower two storeys embedded into the hill side, minimising the impact of the home on its surroundings and allowing the structure to nestle within the established woodland that encloses the property.

Castlebrae Community Campus officially opened its doors in Spring 2022. The new 700 capacity secondary school, which has the potential to be increased to 1,200, was constructed next to the East Neighbourhood Centre and Library (a project Metal Technology also delivered for Hub South East Scotland).Designed by JM Architects and delivered by Morrison Construction, this fantastic new building for The City of Edinburgh Council provides an exciting, inspirational and creative learning hub for the community. It forms one of the final pieces of a 20 yearlong regeneration project to improve housing stock and community facilities in the area. The development was very much a collaborative design, with numerous workshops and meetings to engage the community in the process.The relationship between the interior and exterior of the building was crucial, developing a holistic approach to improve the learning, attainment and health and wellbeing of the community. Metal Technology Ltd supplied its System 4-35Hi+ top hung windows, System 17 curtain walling, System 5-20D Hi+ doors and System 23 louvres and were manufactured and installed by approved fabricator Avtek Ltd.The project has been shortlisted for the following awards: Pupil/Student Experience and Inspiring Learning Spaces at the Education Estates Awards taking place on 18th Oct and Inspiring Learning Spaces at the Learning Places Scotland Awards taking place on 15th Nov.Word has it that the pupils are greatly enjoying and benefiting from their wonderful new learning space and environment – what it’s all about! Office acoustic panels are the best way to fix reverberation in spaces where sound becomes noise. A lot of modern offices end up in need of acoustic panels as contemporary designs use hard surfaces, vaulted ceilings and plenty of glass. While this creates bright office spaces, they are often noisy and difficult to focus in.We partnered up with Yorkshire Soundproofing to go and treat a local office in York that was suffering from terrible reverberation issues.Acoustic problems in the officeAcoustic problems in Monitor’s offices meant people were unable to focus, take a phone call or speak with colleagues easily. These office spaces were newly decorated and refurbed, but sound hadn’t been considered in the office designs. Ultimately, the glass partition, high ceilings, hard floor and in-room kitchenette meant the space wasn’t user-friendly. Luckily, management at the company took sound seriously and decided to get the problem resolved with proper sound absorption.They chose the grey Still Note panels which come in different sizes and suited their aesthetics. They are also a superb retrospective sound design choice as they can be added to ceilings or walls and configured to fit the current space.Why acoustic panels are good in office spacesAcoustic panels are a good fit for office spaces because they can be hung from the ceiling out of the way. In this example, the office still felt light and open after the installation was finished. Acoustic panels can also be adhered directly to the walls. This was done in a smaller side office where two desks were close to a wall which increased reverberation.The acoustic panels are lightweight, which means no additional structural changes need to be made before installation. Our Still Note panels were hung from wire fixings which are adjustable to fit any ceiling height. It is best to allow a gap between the panel and the ceiling, if possible, as absorption is increased. You can see in this example that a 25cm gap was left to improve the performance of the acoustic panels.How were the panels installed?The panels were installed with a fixing and wire system which was simply screwed into the ceiling. Each acoustic panel is hung from multiple pigtail screws that are twisted into the material. This makes the panels easy to install and take down for light maintenance.It is best to spread acoustic panels around an office so that the absorption is evenly distributed. In this case study you can see that the panels go from one end to the other. We generally advise covering around 1/3 of hard surfaces, but this depends on your space and sound issues. For this example, the ceiling treatment alone was sufficient for good sound attenuation.Did the acoustic panels work?Yes, the acoustic panels worked and reduced reverberation in the office. The video above has a before and after audio example, so you can hear how acoustic panels work for yourself. Before installation, the room was too noisy and speech could be hard to focus on. After the installation, sound was controlled and it was easy to talk while other activities carried on.This has made a huge difference to the office and made it far better to work in. Now the office space has been successfully treated, they are installing acoustic baffles in their meeting room. This will make in-person meetings and video calls far easier and more professional.

A recent upgrade to ward kitchens included the provision of stainless steel worktops, basins and base cabinets, by stainless steel specialist, GEC Anderson Limited.In a phased upgrade program, the Foundation Trust approached GEC Anderson directly to agree detailing, specifications and costings for the various ward kitchens. The scope of work included bespoke worktops, sinktops, base cabinets and wall-hung wash basins.The results are professional, hygienic and durable kitchens that will stand the test of time for the Trust.

A state of the art building solely designed to build, run and service Aston Martin’s Formula 1 racing vehicles. Built by the side of the historic Silverstone Grand Prix racing track in Northamptonshire.The Brief in BriefThe project requirements demanded good DB ratings, full height doors, privacy for Mission Control with Smart Glass and privacy to Exec area with blinds. An Atrium to flood light into the ‘street’ below. Plus offices, meeting rooms, a Mission Control racing hub, a large Atrium screen over indoor areas, open plan design offices, breakout and communal areas.Komfort’s SolutionPrior to the start of the project we had numerous pre-start meetings with the design team and H&S visits with our external advisors to ensure the project would run smoothly from the start.To achieve a system and design the client desired, Komfort built mock-up sample office onsite during the design stage to highlight the design elements such as acoustic double glazed glass in Polar 100 and our deflection head system. We also supplied samples of our blinds, with the system in situ to demonstrate the operating fixtures and fittings. All samples were supplied in the clients choice of colour including matt black blinds to match the trackwork.The double glazed full length Atrium required teams working on both sides of the glass, installation from the office side and safety (fall arrest) from the street side. The atrium glazing over the machine shop area required glass lifting equipment, to ensure the fire rated glass could be sealed properly from both sides.The client made numerous changes to the design during installation, which had to be accommodated. The final project involved 800 sqm of glass and 50+ Sonik doors throughout the building site. It was a challenge and one that Komfort rose to admirably.The end resultModern open plan offices with a selection of meeting rooms. Large executive offices with blinds/locks for privacy. A large full length atrium from the offices above to the workshops and indoor street below. All areas of the racing team on 1 floor (design office, HR, Exec offices, Mission Control, finance etc).

The White City project consists of a 35 storey tower and two 19 storey towers. Two of the buildings are set within a lagoon water feature which cascades towards the lower landscaped gardens surrounding the site. The project is due for completion in 2022.
