Radii manufactured and installed Parallel 50 double glazed partitioning (45dB Rw) with adjoining Parallel 100 (50dB RW) for TS&W’s glazed fronts on the Ground floor and Level 1, including a number of stunning curved glazed elements. Linear 25 single glazed partitions (38dB RW) were used on Levels 2 to 5.Enhanced acoustic timber doors (40dB Rw) in veneered and painted finishes and with adjoining timber pilasters were utilised for the executive meeting rooms and offices.Auto-operated framed glazed pivoting doors, with visible overhead operators mounted on our top channels, were also installed to give easy access to ‘den’ and collaboration areas.Finally, a fire rated package comprising of structural Ei90 fire rated glazed screens was added on Level 5.

The high-performing FirePro fire rated system — fully developed by Radii’s in-house product development Centre for Excellence — was a key feature in the fit-out for global asset managers Blackstone in London’s Berkeley Square.Working on Level 3 of the building, fire rated solutions comprised FirePro Ei30 glazed fire screens, five FirePro Ei30 single doors and double door sets respectively, and three Firepro Ei60 double door sets. Fire doors were installed with power-assisted openers.Furthermore, our high acoustic performance Linear 50 Plus single glazed partitions (up to Rw 41 dB) and a single glazed Hogan lobby double door set with access control completed the glazed partition package.

True Potential celebrate a contemporary new look for their headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne. Created by Ward Robinson Design, the smart and agile workspace provides mixed work settings including desks, quiet areas and collaboration zones. EGGER woodgrain reproduction H3430 ST22 White Aland Pine was used throughout the project in matching laminate, door size laminate, MFC and ABS edging. The hard-wearing properties of EGGER laminate make it the ideal choice for collaboration zone bench seating, reception counters and internal doors. The versatile material allows for creative elements such as the curved features and logo routering.EGGER's matching material offer means that desks, case goods and decorative slats could be fabricated in cost effective MFC, removing the additional labour of bonding laminate without altering the design concept. Matching ABS edging gives a uniform finish to all of the furniture elements.

This New Forest family home features an impressive double-height landing space. A small hatch positioned 2.65m above the floor-level provides access to the loft space, which offers useful storage and contains the boiler. The homeowners wanted easy access to the loft. The easy-to-use 'Supreme Vertical' wall access loft ladder from Premier Loft Ladders provided the perfect solution.Despite being manually operated, it is very easy to use due to counter-balance springs and gas-strut mechanism. Furthermore, the Supreme Vertical is offered with a made-to-measure insulated hatch, which avoids having to have a separate (independently operated) door. The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is the UK’s agency for providing hydrographic and marine geospatial data to mariners and maritime organisations across the world. Their visually stunning new headquarters in Taunton has been designed based on the concept of contours and currents by multi-award winning architects, AHR. An impressive central atrium with feature stair connects the two wings with access to the upper floors reached by a feature stairway which leads onto open platforms and connecting walkways. The fluid lines and vast spaces gives the interior a sense of openness in such a large structure and is an incredibly inspiring environment in which to work. Lusso worked closely with BAM and AHR on the internal glazing requirements to create administration offices, a meeting suite, training rooms, as well as recreation and dining areas to the ground floor. The use of Lusso 25 single glazed partition system and Lusso 105 double glazed partition system allowed for the different acoustic and structural design specifications throughout the building. The clever use of glass partitions has ensured that the requirement for a “one team approach” design brief has been met. The UKHO can now boast highly impressive headquarters, befitting of a world leading geospatial information company. Opened by HRH The Princess Royal, it has now been nominated and won several design awards and is on course to achieve BREEAM Excellent.

Newcastle University’s Frederick Douglass Centre is a £34 million flagship teaching facility. Seating in the impressive stepped auditorium is maximised thanks to Style’s installation of a world-first, bespoke set of moveable wall systems, dividing the room into two separate lecture halls, seating 500 and 250 students. Style worked in close collaboration with Sheppard Robson, and Sir Robert McAlpine, to design a solution that is fully automatic, concurrently moving a double skin of Dorma Hüppe sliding wall panels, up through the tiered seating. The final installation surpasses the client’s demands for acoustic privacy between divided areas.

In 2020, Hewlett Packard Enterprises relocated to The 210 Building, an inspiring office development in the heart of Winnersh Triangle. Working with architects, Perkins and Will, and BW Construction, Style was specified to create an extensive range of flexible space within the meeting rooms as well as a chic, collaborative working environment.Using a combination of 52dB Dorma Hüppe semi-automatic Variflex glass moveable walls, 55dB solid semi-automatic Variflex moveable walls and Style’s ingenious ‘working wall’ pivot panels, a supremely flexible and stylish training and meeting suite has been created. Hewlett Packard employees enjoy a contemporary environment with the freedom to rapidly change room configuration as often as required. The 210 Building offers 62,000 sq ft of newly refurbished office space, of which 31,000 sq ft has been let to Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Aiming to enhance the work/life balance of employees and staff located in the Winnersh Triangle, the Park offers a plethora of amenities including fitness facilities, cafes, open spaces for walking and cycling, an on-site nursery and even its own dedicated railway station. “This is a stunning installation,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director. “Everything about it is first class, making this a project we’re incredibly proud of.“The Variflex moveable walls offer top-end acoustic integrity, which means meetings and training sessions can take place undisturbed. The combination of glass and solid panels deliver a wonderful blend of privacy and transparency, while bringing a light and airy feel to the floor space.“The mix of fabric and writeable white board finishes offer a chic interior design yet a practical one too, and the pivot panels offer the perfect solution for collaborative working and break out groups.”Style’s agile, floating panel ‘working walls’ remove the usual barriers of meeting and training rooms, segregated work desks and cubicles, instead offering companies a space where individuals can group together, team up quickly on projects, share ideas and change their environment to suit the task in hand.

When Financial IT Consultancy firm PHI Partners took possession of two run-down offices in Barnet, Hertfordshire, they tasked Interior Property Solutions (IPS) with combining the units to create a luxurious, bright and inviting executive workspace and 'Engine Room’ sales office fit for a cutting edge business.IPS wanted to create a bold impact with their door designs and choose floor to ceiling wood veneer doors, door frames and timber-framed partitions from Forza Doors.To create a unified consent look throughout the suites crown cut Black American Walnut veneer was selected for its close match to the grain of the table and AV unit in the executive meeting room. To ensure the veneers matched, Forza was sent a sample of the desk veneer and personally selected the veneer to match. We also used the same veneer on the doorframes and the Forza Imola partitions for continuity of colour and grain.

Having outgrown their previous offices, Smoove – a company operating in the property sector (formerly ULS) – took the decision to take on three floors at Masters Court; a fully refurbished office building in the quaint town of Thame, Oxfordshire. They swiftly appointed HNB and Leap Architects to deliver an overhaul of the dated interior that would better suit the Smoove team.We were approached to deliver a glass moving wall capable of separating the ground floor kitchen and main open plan space when required. Our Type G200 system was chosen, which provides transfer of natural light when partition is closed while simultaneously stopping the transfer of noise.The minimalist manifestations applied to the glazed panels along with their black painted frames have been designed to match a number of fixed glass partitions within the space, offering a consistent design throughout.

Radii joined the fit-out for this asset management company’s new European headquarters in mid-2022, working for approximately 20 weeks to deliver our high-end commercial solutions for 179 offices and meeting spaces across Levels 1 to 4 of the 88,000 sq ft site.Curved double glazed Parallel 50 (45dB Rw) partitions were manufactured and installed by Radii for a number of meeting rooms fronts, while single glazed Linear 25 (41 dB Rw) and double glazed Parallel 100 (50dB Rw) were also deployed to match the variety of acoustic requirements. Mesh glass was used in places on Levels 2 to 4 to provide extra privacy around reception and lounge areas respectively.Partitions were complemented with smoked dark European oak timber veneered doors throughout the space.

The technical team at Lochrin Bain were approached by an existing client looking to secure a new bulk storage centre located outwith their current secure facility. The global Defence, Aerospace and Security company having worked with Lochrin Bain on previous retro-fit and new build projects, instructed the design house and main contractor Wates Construction of their approved specification with the clients Security Manager opting for Lochrin Bain’s patented High Security Combi™ fencing over a traditional Palisade or Mesh alternatives.

𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗥𝗨𝗧 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡Beirut explosion 4th August 2020.On August 4th 2020, a major explosion in the port of Beirut estimated as the equivalent of between 1,000 and 1,500 tonnes of TNT was witnessed. The explosion in Beirut was one of the largest man-made non-nuclear explosions ever witnessed and created widespread devastation through a supersonic blast wave radiating throughout the city.Fortunately for some, Abbey Protect 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦® were fitted to a number of windows throughout Beirut. While these were originally fitted as counter terrorism measures, the benefits of having these installed were clear.In one building, the difference in protection between “bomb blast window film” and 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦® where the blast filmed windows had significantly fragmented and caused damage to the interior offices. The offices fitted with 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦® “it looked as if nothing had happened” (quote from client).𝗔𝗯𝗯𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 are very proud of the performance of our blinds in this significant event, the injuries and deaths that were avoided as a result of their installation are priceless.

A multi-area secure line, meaning layered solutions, is alsorequired.The overall challenge is to prevent risks associated with unauthorised building access, such as data theft or vandalism.SolutionA solution would provide access to authorised personnel whilst preventing tailgating attempts. Meesons, therefore, proposed the installation of a security portal at each site, allowing access only to authorised personnel.To ensure no tailgating attempts would be possible, each portal was fitted with anti-tailgating sensors, preventing more than one user from transiting at a time. Each portal was fitted with a two-zone pressure mat for added security,providing an extra verification parameter for tailgating detection. The two-zone pressure mat requires usersto stand on the grey square during verification.OutcomeFollowing the successful completion of the installation, Meesons was appointed to oversee the service and maintenance of the security portals. The £44m state of the art Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC) brings together world-leading expertise in brain mapping with the very latest in brain imaging and brain stimulation. This multi award-winning project is home to the Clinical Research Facility and is part of Cardiff University’s Maindy Park site.The new building is four times larger than the old facility, meaning staff from different departments now benefit from being housed under one roof, allowing for increased collaboration and innovation. Research carried out at the centre aims to help scientists understand the causes and find treatments for brain changes that lead to disordered cognition and mental health issues.This hub offers a range of facilities including an NHS standard medical suite with drug trial unit, specialist scanning suites, laboratories, office accommodation and large seminar facilities within an open-plan environment. For the interior, architects, IBI Group, chose rich materials such as wood, bold colours and geometric shapes which were complimented by Lusso’s glass partitioning. This has created a professional yet welcoming space. In keeping with the design, Lusso 105 double glazed frameless partitions were installed for offices and meeting rooms.  Fitted with interstitial blinds, users can create privacy whenever needed. The use of glazed partitions also makes best use of the natural light and creates an inclusive space. Lusso also installed bespoke high acoustic glazed vision panels with specialist glass for the scanning suites. The overall effect is an inspirational space for research and innovation at an international level.

The ChallengeNo. 1 Horgan’s Quay is one of the development’s three office buildings, with the upper floors of the new modern structure cantilevered over the site’s original Goods Shed. The lobby area features a large glazed partition on the first floor, helping to create an open, light space, as well as sympathetically blending the old restored structure with the new.KCC Group, a door and glazing contractor, were appointed to deliver the EI30 SWS Screen works on the project. Site Contracts Manager, Ger McNamee, said: “In order to ensure the safety of those within the building, 30-minute fire protection was required for the reception area, providing a fire barrier between the lobby and the first floor. Once we had the fire safety glass specification from the architect, O’Mahony Pike Architects, it was up to our team at KCC Group to source a supplier – this is when our relationship with Pyroguard began.”The SolutionTo ensure that the desired aesthetic was achieved, while also meeting building safety regulations, Pyroguard Infinity T-EI30/24-2 SWS fire safety glass was chosen by KCC Group and installed in the glazed partition, within a Jansen steel profile system.Pyroguard Infinity is a range of fire safety glass certified for butt-joint applications. With no vertical frame profiles required, it’s the ideal solution for providing visually appealing seamless partitions. Manufactured to EI classification, Pyroguard Infinity provides the highest level of integrity and heat insulation, protecting against flames, smoke and heat.

Caudwell International Children’s Centre (CICC) is the UK’s first independent Centre dedicated to autism diagnosis, therapy and research. National Charity, Caudwell Children, funded the 60,000 sq ft iconic £18 million facility which has been built in Staffordshire near Keele University. The aim of the Centre is to unite the world’s leading experts on autism diagnosis and therapy.The Centre features two internal courtyards and an innovative ‘Butterfly’ design which reflects the charity’s logo. It has been meticulously designed to meet the needs of disabled children and surpasses current UK accessibility standards.  The Centre incorporates state-of-the art assessment suites, family training suites, and training kitchens. There is even a 120-seat conference facility so that experts can share ideas from around the world.The 360-degree loop corridors aim to discourage children from running and, without harsh, right-angled corners, there is less risk of surprise encounters which might cause anxiety. ‘Quiet Pods’ and sensory rooms have also been provided to create a calming space.A combination of Lusso 25 single glazed partitions and Lusso 105 double glazed partitions were installed to meet the varying needs within the building. This helps to ensure visibility for safety, and acoustic requirements to reduce noise levels so as not to over-stimulate children. Lusso 25FR and Lusso 105FR were also used whre fire regulations were required. Overall, the use of glazed partitions within the design ensures the building is modern, contemporary, and bright for all visitors to the Centre.    

The redevelopment of Yatala Prison in South Australia is supporting the advancement of the state’s public prison structure, reinforcing the security and reducing the rate of offending. Headquartered in London, vXtream is a leading Private Cloud Managed Service Provider that has 7 global data centre locations. Having built up 2 years’ experience, vXtream services are relied upon by international companies, businesses of all sizes, and creative professionals. In order to protect their vast clientele’s data and hardware, a multi-layered security approach has been put in place featuring 24/7 on-site security, high-definition CCTV cameras, and biometric security approved by the NPSA (National Protective Security Authority). ChallengeDue to the ISO27001 certification that vXtream holds, they are committed to continuous improvement and risk management; therefore, a further layer of security was identified as needed for their data hall. This further layer of security had the challenge of preventing tailgating into the data hall to ensure access could be controlled and monitored. The solution would also need to integrate with vXtream new biometric system to enable fingerprint recognition entry. As well as this, the space within the data hall needed to be preserved so that further expansion could happen in the future with the data centre’s planned growth.  Solution To gather a good understanding of what vXtream challenges were, Meesons visited the site to gather a good perspective. With this, the FPJ140 2S Security Portal was proposed as a suitable solution. Since this product offers a high level of security, it helped overcome the risk of tailgating with the 2-zone pressure mat that provides a second level of verification, ensuring only one person is present in the portal at once. On top of anti-tailgating, the FPJ140 2S pressure mat is also capable of detecting hardware being removed from the secure zone. ResultsWith the FPJ140 2S Security Portal in place at vXtream, it proves as an effective security solution that prevents tailgating. It has created a secure line to the data hall and works well with the access control system that the data centre uses. With stainless steel cladding, we helped vXtream achieve a premium look that complements the surrounding environment. 

For secure mental health units, the safeguarding of both their patients and the general public is paramount. Therefore, it is imperative that patients cannot leave the hospital grounds to ensure that they cannot threaten anyone or themselves. Therefore, secure, sturdy and reliable fencing is a necessity. However, to promote relaxation and recovery for anxious and agitated patients, it is necessary to maximise the capability of this fencing to ensure that it is restful rather than solely restrictive.So, how is it possible to ensure that high-security fencing can also be calming to patients?Secure Mental Health UnitsSecure mental health units in the UK require a high level of security because they often house people who have been previously incarcerated or those who have been admitted to the hospital after committing a crime. In addition, they deliver care to patients who may pose a risk to the general public and try to help their patients recover by offering accommodation, treatment and support.Patients in secure hospitals are not allowed to leave and cannot escape if they pose a danger to themselves or others. Therefore, the security is always extremely stringent inside and outside each unit.What are the Requirments of Secure Units?Security and safety of patients is a priority for NHS mental health units. A mental health unit is not a prison; it is a hospital where patients are cared for and nursed back to recovery with treatment and support. Patients mustn’t feel like they have been locked up, and the environment needs to be calming so that patients can enjoy the restful environment conducive to their recovery.However, it is also essential that patients not come and go because the unit delivers high-level security on a secure mental health unit. Therefore, any perimeter fencing must be extremely secure to keep the patients from leaving the hospital, and patients must also not be able to break down or scale the fencing.Therefore a duality must be created where a prison-like environment exists without the hospital being perceived as a prison by the patients on the unit.The SolutionZaun HiSec Prison fencing is used as a solution to all the requirements of secure mental health units. Every panel of the HiSec 358 close mesh fencing is specifically designed to ensure the safety and security of patients within the unit.In addition to the 358 mesh, the fencing features 1.5mm solid steel sheets, pre-galvanised, powder coated and printed with an image. This provides privacy to the patients inside while maintaining a high-security level. These sheets are then fixed to the fencing with a clamp bar on the post and clamped with an additional clamp bar mid bar to maximise their durability and sturdiness. To achieve tailored and bespoke results, sheets are pre-cut to size before arriving on-site, ready for installation.One of the most important facets of the fencing is the printed image on the front of the sheets. These images, often created by local artists, are created to calm the patients on the mental health unit, making them feel less anxious and improving their positivity. Therefore, they tend to depict calming imagery, such as lush flowers or relaxing scenery.This printed fencing has the dual outcome of keeping patients safe and secure inside the secure mental health unit and giving them restful images to views, such as vibrant yellow sunflowers and the glint of sunlight through woodland. In addition, viewing nature scenes has the benefit of positively improving mental health.

This work at Holborn’s Chancery House  — The Office Group’s largest location to date spanning 127,000 sq ft — focused on a design that accommodates multiple working zones and breakout spaces, enhances wellbeing and offers an abundance of natural light.Radii’s design department provided multiple bespoke solutions for this fit out, working on four of the building’s nine floors.For glazed fronts, our elegant Parallel 50 (Rw 45 dB) double glazed partitions in emulated satin stainless steel finish — a reference to the historic London Silver Vaults that are located at the base of Chancery House — were utilised along with wraparound framing and a custom blade detail to create an eye-catching visual effect.On the Ground floor, single glazed Linear 59 partitions (Rw 39 dB) with a bespoke pocket sliding door into drywall was installed for platform lift access.Finally, E30 fire rated double doors were placed on the Lower Ground Floor to provide fire route protection.

The UK Atomic Energy Authority’s (UKAEA)’s new facility will provide additional capacity for the STEP research programme at the campus in Culham, Oxfordshire as scientists seek to demonstrate the ability to generate net energy from fusion.Planet’s western contracting team offered their services in the creation of the site’s meeting room and office facilities across all four floors of the building.For meeting and conference rooms requiring high acoustic privacy, our double glazed and frameless PURE100 partition system (Rw 47 dB) was coupled with IsoPro pivoting glazed doors. Work has been advancing on the new Southern Remand Centre at the Risdon Prison site in Tasmania with the cooperation of Dart Valley Systems.
