•An OFSTED ‘Outstanding’ Rated school, the Ormiston Venture Academy in Norwich, specified Supacord carpet with inlaid bespoke logo mats from Heckmondwike. •A brand new entrance plaza provided a focal point for the new academy, with Heckmondwike called upon to produce a bespoke mat with the school’s new branding. •Supacord in Steel Grey was used extensively in the school, particularly in corridors and some classrooms, creating a neutral base for more vibrant furniture.

Completed in November 2014, the Four Seasons Dubaisits beside Jumeirah Beach, just ten minutes fromDubai’s famous commercial district.California based architect WATG worked alongsideinterior designer BAMO to create a resort heavilyinfluenced by mediterranean architecture and the hotel’sseaside location. For example, the lobby sits underneathan octagonal dome finished with gold leaf that enhancesthe natural light coming through the windows.Each of the 237 guestrooms come with a balcony,offering panoramic views of the sea or the city’sextravagant skyline, punctuated by the world’s tallestbuilding, the Burj Khalifa.The luxury hotel required a tailored package toensure it’s aesthetic flair was complemented bythe door furniture.The intricate detail on the Royal Suite doors wasmatched by custom made lattice pull handles in a pewterfinish (far right image), whilst the rest of the suite andpublic areas were supplied with pull and knob handles ina co-ordinated bronze finish.In contrast, the hotel opted for a polished finish in thepresidential suite, with nickel and stainless steel thepreferred materials. A full spectrum of door furniture wasapplied including lever handles, lock cases and doorclosers, all supplied in the desired polished finish.

THE BRIEFOutdoor street furniture solutionsCoombe Wood School is a comprehensive, mixed secondary school for children aged between 11 and 18 in Croydon. We worked with Wates on this £30 million project to provide a range of street furniture products to complement the newly landscaped areas.We manufactured a whole host of our own range of products here. The Timber cycle shelter was created in a way that covers two runs of cycle hoops under one roof, this allows for more bikes to be covered which acts as a fantastic incentive to get kids cycling to school. WHAT WE DIDStriking central courtyard featureFor the courtyard area, Langley Design provided a large timber pergola to add a striking central structure to the outside space where the children can congregate under to socialise, play, eat and learn. Our recycled plastic plinth mounted benches were chosen due to the longevity of the material. THE RESULTLow maintenance productsThe recycled plastic requires no maintenance and will continue to look as good as new in many years to come. It will last the lifetime of the project.Both the school and contractor were so pleased with our products that they have ordered another cycle shelter due for installation later this year.

Lindner SE | Partitions and Lindner SE | Interior Fit-Out and Furnishings were largely responsible for the detailed interior design with lots of glass, silver fir, brass, exposed concrete and a colour concept with 32 colours. Lindner developed a new glass partition wall in which the glass walls could be installed frameless thanks to grooves in the floor and ceiling. In order to fulfil all fire protection requirements in the various rooms, the doors and glass wall systems were designed in F0, F30 and F90 as required. Another special architectural detail: the wooden door leaves were integrated seamlessly into the glass walls without an additional frame. Silver fir or brass was chosen as the surface finish.These materials can also be found in the wall panelling and built-in furniture, which were manufactured by Lindner Objektdesign in its own factory. Full FF&E fit-out for Balfour Hospital Orkney.Robertson Construction built this £65 million facility for NHS Orkney that is transforming healthcare services on the islands. We delivered the full FF&E fit-out including wall protection, blinds, bedheads and cubicles, as well as all the fitted furniture. Working closely with the Keppie Design team we also provided reception counters plus bespoke seating for the atrium and café.

Accoya was used for all the superior decking and facades throughout the ‘Jungle House’ on Guarujá Beach. It was also used for some of the interior paneling & room furniture as well as for unique MUXARABI joineries. This is a special type of joinery used by architects to enhance the aestetic design of a project as the joinery acts as a light filter providing varying projections of light throughout the day. Accoya was also chosen due to its incredible durability to withstand Brazil’s intense heat and humidity.

The Curzon Cinema in Oxford, part of the Westgate Shopping Complex, features a unique Arturo Performace Resin Floor in its bar area. Installed by 3D Royal Floors, the 271 m² floor combines aesthetic appeal with durability, essential for heavy foot traffic and furniture movement. The dark grey 'concrete look' created a unique and attractive floor. The seamless flooring enhances the venue's contemporary atmosphere, providing patrons with a stylish and comfortable environment.

The office entertaining and tea point area for office furniture supplier, Steelcase, has benefitted from a new, single-piece, stainless steel worktop, by GEC Anderson. Incorporating two stainless steel sinks, the 4 + metre long, bespoke stainless steel worksurface blends perfectly with its sleek, modern and professional surroundings.The area is under heavy use on a daily basis as well as for evening and weekend events held at the company’s prestigious Farringdon offices.

ASF have for decades been supplying the supermarket chain Morrisons with a host of external furniture and fittings. From the very beginning ASF were specified as manufacturers for the M Logo Cast Iron Bollards, still in use today on their heritage stores. In this example the bollards were converted into railings, allowing the supermarket retain their corporate branding whilst creating a site perimeter. ASF are also specified on the stainless steel and recycled plastic products seen at Morrisons stores.

The contractor at Kettering was Amey and at Wellingborough was Walker Construction.

By opting for an ecodesign approach, where the purity of whites enhances the beauty of the woodgrain effect, the women's clothing brand ‘Camaïeu’ wanted to create bright and contemporary spaces in which the shopper would experience both comfort and well-being. Made using Panoprey melamine-faced board, the ‘Blanc Menuires’ brings light to the store while ‘Chêne lavé’ has been selected for the furniture and fixtures, the reception desk and changing rooms, in order to instill a sense of comfort.

Joining forces with Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd, Team BOYCO supported in transforming the military band practice storage room for the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. Working with both the customer and contractor we supplied our 'Built to Last' shelving, personal cabinets and cloakroom furniture.All items were crafted to bespoke requirements in our Greater Manchester factory, to accommodate and utilise all available space.Project ScopeSince 1947, The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst has been training Officer Cadets to become Commissioned Officers in the British Army.Located in a 600-acre estate by the border of Berkshire and Surrey, it has an international reputation for 'delivering world-class leadership', and to ensure this premium standard of education was upheld, the need arose for the academy to refurbish its military band practice room and storage area. The BOYCO WayBackgroundProviding both project management and in-house design support, BOYCO worked alongside Willmott Dixon Construction and HLM Architects to refine the needs of the military band storage room. There was a demand for high-quality products that could withstand the rigours of military use, from heavy uniforms to instruments. Team BOYCO was able to meet this requirement thanks to our 'Built to Last' standard, which applies to all our fixed furniture solutions.Quality Bespoke ProductsCatering to the students of the Royal Military Academy, we supplied our floor-fixed benching to the male and female changing rooms, and our double-sided island bench to the male changing rooms. Both sets of cloakroom furniture featured MFC slats, providing comfort and functionality. In our recent steps towards sustainability, the MFC slats on the benching has been sourced from sustainable forests.As per the BOYCO standard, all metal work on the items fitted at the Royal Military Academy are coated in our ‘Hot Dip’ Nylon coating. As well as providing market-leading durability due to it being 4 times thicker than powder coated alternatives, it offers antimicrobial protection. Pioneered by BOYCO, it has been formulated to stop 99% of known bacteria from surviving on its surface, contributing to the health and safety practices of the academy. This finish offers a perfect solution to ensure the utmost cleanliness for the high touchpoint areas being used by military personnel and staff daily.To complement the benching, and the Royal Military Academy's need for a high level of storage, bespoke personal cabinets were also installed. Boasting a unique feel and perfectly tailored to the Academy's needs, the cabinets were specially designed and manufactured with internal fixed shelves and a changing rail for hanging military uniforms. Anthracite grey was opted for due to its uniformity and sleek look, providing a professional finish to the changing rooms.Due to the size of the units being 1.5 m wide x 2.1 m tall, BOYCO prioritised safe practices and customer needs when delivering the fixed furniture. The final weight of the fully constructed furniture was just over 140kg, so all items were assembled on-site.For the instrument storeroom, 4-tier floor and wall-fixed shelving with a steel frame was installed. This provides high levels of support and strength which is essential due to the weight and value of the musical instruments being stored. Project SuccessFollowing the completion of the project, Team BOYCO visited Sandhurst Military Academy. Gradus' Stratus carpet in Flint (grey) was installed in all of the school classrooms. The carpet forms a clean, blank canvas for the bright accent colours of the furniture and fittings.Primary barrier matting from the Esplanade range was installed to the main entrance and all side entrances reducing the amount of tracked-in dirt and moisture.ADM1 aluminium stair edgings with Jet (black) slip-resistant inserts were fitted to all staircases defining the step and helping to ensure the safety of all users circulating between floors.

When Vitsoe, makers of iconic minimal-modernist furniture, decided to build a new HQ, it was always going to be something special. Central to the design is the saw tooth roof with 240 northlights created using the VELUX Modular Skylight system. The elegant sightlines of the VELUX skylight frame sections complemented Vitsoe's own minimal-modernist design philosophy. " Natural lighting and ventilation from the VELUX Modular Skylights were critical to restoring a connection between the building's users and the world around them."

When designing a new music department for BirminghamUniversity, Glenn Howells Architects faced the challengeof creating a new construction to fit in with the surroundinggrade II listed buildings, whilst meeting contemporarystandards of accommodation and acoustics.The Bramall Music Building provides a home for thedepartment of music, with a 450-seat auditorium,a domed rehearsal room, various studios, offices andteaching rooms. Working in conjunction with the architect,Allgood created an ironmongery specification that wasclosely aligned to the design concept of the building;classically designed whilst meeting contemporaryperformance standards. The choice of FSB bronze doorfurniture throughout the public areas compliments theaesthetic of the interior but also links the building to themore traditional materials associated with the design of theexisting buildings.The architect wanted to extend the bronze aestheticthrough to the mechanical hardware which provided achallenge as options are limited for fire rated mechanicalhardware in a bronze finish. Allgood were able to applythe unique, simulated Bronze finish to satin stainless steelhardware, continuing the bronze finish throughout thebuilding. Not only did this complete the visual aesthetic butit meant that the hardware would meet all of the fire andbuilding regulations.In addition, Allgood provided electromagnetic holdopen units, signage and door furniture to allow the maincirculation doors through to the auditorium to be held openin pockets. This created a clean, architectural detail thatprovides clear opening widths for visitors to enter through.

The ASF Balmoral short panel post was used as a parapet railing for the top of a section of refurbished industrial walling alongside the Manchester Shipping Canal. The acorn finial and feature rail knuckles make a decorative and chunky post to house panels made with slightly oversize tube. The overall effect turns this practical 'safety rail' into a design feature that compliments the heritage parts of the famous Salford Quays development. ASF also manufactured many of the stainless steel street furniture products seen in the pedestrian and residential areas of the Quays.

A bright creation and fourteen years later, still a current project in its modernity. This project was carried out using a metal structure composed of geometric shapes in diamonds and quadrangles, which was built in the Atrium and BMW Edge amphitheater (sponsor of creation). The originality of this structure was its acoustic quality and high brightness. To obtain such a result, the translucent canvas Moonlight was chosen to enhance the natural light and Acoustic stretched ceiling Barrisol Acoustics® to reduce noise. The layout of the interior space was also thought that the furniture harmonize with the ceiling.

Due to their product offering and bespoke software packages the business has grown over the years and as part of an office furniture refurbishment project, to accommodate their growing workforce, Wharncliffe looked to danfloor to provide a long-term flooring solution for their Sheffield based head office. This contemporary holiday home is located in the tranquil, unspoiled Swedish archipelago. Set into the cliff, the house is beautifully framed by the dramatic, rocky landscape and the deep blue sea. The wooden structure of the house was inspired by the local building traditions found in the boat houses of the archipelago. The interior reflects the minimalist exterior, with furniture in light wood and a subtle colour palette. Lukehurst furniture shop required a much-needed facelift to attract local customers and ensure the building was suitable to host the family business for years to come. Working with Apex Façades Ltd and James Hardie, this became a reality. As a well-known fitter of Hardie® products, Apex Facades knew that there was a safe and affordable solution available for this project. Apex worked with the owner of the business, providing our free to order samples to help them decide which product and colour scheme most suited their style and brand. 

Two ranges of Furnitubes’ products have been selected for the deck area at HereEast, London business space and headquarters for BT Sport. The RailRoad range of seating and integrated planters is employed where the furniture can be placed on a more or less permanent basis and Ribbon XL seating modules are used where they need to be moved more regularly. The unusual Ribbon XL kissing seat, with two backrests facing opposite directions, and the two-person high-back recliner are the initial products used. Steelwork was finished in a dark grey PPC to match the metalwork on the Broadcast Centre.

Due to their experience in producing custom features for the contractor previously, Woodscape were chosen to help bring the vision of artist Katayoun Dowlatshahi to life in these traffic calming measures for Chester town centre, as well as manufacturing new seating for the area.Working closely with Art Fabrications on the production of these bollards has resulted in some truly stunning pieces, that moved beyond signage and pedestrian safety to become admired works of art.Woodscape’s advanced CNC capabilities allow the production of hardwood furniture with a level of bespoke detail and finish beyond many suppliers.

Surespan is increasingly being asked to provide specialist glazed access and ventilation solutions. Project:The architects working on a project at Stratton House in London, approached Surespan to design and manufacture a“bird wing” style, double-leaf glazed ventilator with concealed operating gear from below. Surespan was chosen for its expertise in producing bespoke products.Product:The operation of each leaf ensured maximum airflow into the building below and smoke release in the event of a fire. Measuring 2500 x 2000mm and polyester powder coated white to match existing building roof furniture.

With floor space at a premium, partitioning expert Style strives to deliver solutions that minimise space needed to create an effective room divide. For example, the fully-automatic Skyfold Zenith is stored out of sight in the ceiling cavity. At the touch of a button it slides down as almost entirely flat panels, allowing a room to be quickly divided without even moving furniture. There are four Zenith models capable of delivering laboratory tested acoustic performance ranging from Rw48dB right through to an incredible Rw59dB. There is also the sound absorption Zenith with a 0.65 NRC rating.

Havas Media Group is a global network of entertainment, media and communications agencies, that has recently opened its new ‘HKX’ village in Pancras Square, London to unite twenty-four of its UK operations in a stunning new European headquarters. Given the nature of the fast-moving office environment at Havas, the combination of 14,000m2 raised access floors and 3,000m2 of Attiro magnetic engineered timber (supplied by Fieldmans, one of Kingspan’s supply and install partners) allows for the easy reconfiguration of office layouts and furniture, as well as providing instant access to the underfloor void.

This was not actually a quayside application, instead the quayside profile was chosen as the curved profile doesn't create a 'natural ladder' and better discourages people climbing over from a pedestrian area into traffic.The curved profile was set up to have 2 solid rails and 4 tension cables which were used to bridge the gaps between the main rails equidistantly.Laser profiled steel posts with knuckles for rails and flanges to host the cables were manufactured as bespoke solutions. The outcome is a successful balance between a utilitarian piece of street furniture and a product with a decent amount of design and architectural integrity.
