Helmsman won the Berwick Leisure Centre cubicles package and worked across two floors. We manufactured, delivered, and installed fully framed leisure cubicles alongside the integrated plumbing system panels.We altered our orginal fully framed leisure cubicle design to create a bespoke product for Berwick Leisure Centre, creating a floating look from the front. Most cubicles were changing cubicles located on the ground floor and some toilet cubicles on the first floor.

Helmsman Z Lockers, 4-compartment Heavy Duty Lockers and Inline Cubicles were supplied, delivered and installed by Helmsman professionals in Cambridge. Our new range of cubicles went into both male and female shower rooms with seat stands attached to bespoke sloping top Z Lockers suitable for wet environments. Bespoke privacy panels and benches were supplied in each cubicle to keep the bench clear of water. Natural Ash laminate was used across the bespoke project.

GCB (Guan Chong Berhad) Cocoa UK Limited is a new chocolate factory that opened in Glemsford in 2023. GCB Cocoa was established in Asia when it started trading cocoa beans in the 1980s. The new chocolate factory produces liquid and solid chocolates. The site of the factory is 17-acre which will include new access, car parking, manufacturing facilities, warehousing, and biomass container to supply renewable energy for the manufacturing procedure.Our team Helmsman manufactured, delivered, and installed 14 bespoke cubicles as the clients requested floor-to-ceiling ‘Inline’ changing cubicles, with the measurements to be 2817mm high, 950 wide, and with the door opening at 1950mm. Additionally, they have 14 benches within the changing cubicles that are 900mm wide and 300mm depth.The Inline cubicles were requested to be 'Designer White', which we were supplied by Greenlam. 'Designer White' is a simple colour that stands out. The Cubicle head rail and channel were powder coated in White Aluminium to outline the cubicles.Inside the cubicles, the benches are plasticated in silver grey with slats in 'Arctic White'. We have installed our stunning full-height Flow cubicles at the St Botolph building in London. A delicate pale wood grain laminate across both the cubicles and the sentry ducting sets off the washrooms beautifully. The washrooms at St Botolph required an upgrade after having the paint on the previously installed cubicles began to chip, and the hardware started to break down. With Thrislington’s market-leading 15 year guarantee for Flow, St Botolph are safe in the knowledge that problems like this will not occur again. Edinburgh University's McEwan Hall was originally built in 1897 and recently underwent a £35 million redevelopment. A circular building, we worked with the Architect to develop Arc, our groundbreaking curved system. The cubicles follow the contours of the building perfectly, both save space and look simply breathtaking. Although McEwan Hall is used as both a concert and graduation hall we still think our Arc cubicles offer the best seat in the house.

Lee Valley Ice Centre originally opened in 1984, and before closing in 2021 welcomed over 279,000 visitors each year. With the old centre reaching the end of its operational life, it was time to design and build a brand new Ice Centre at Lee Valley Regional Park. The new centre, due to open in April 2023 will be home to 2 new ice rinks, doubling the capacity of the old centre, and inviting in new visitors as well as welcoming back those who visited before.As part of the redevelopment of Lee Valley Ice Centre, 95% of the concrete from the old centre was used in the foundations of the new centre. With this and many other environmentally friendly choices made in the construction, Lee Valley Ice Centre will become the UK’s most sustainable Ice Centre.The fully accessible centre will maximise the opportunity for sports for everyone, and with two Olympic-sized Ice Rinks, a brand-new café, gym, exercise studios and various other facilities, Lee Valley will be able to welcome up to 500,000 visitors. The range of facilities will encourage a variety of new visitors, from committed skaters, though to people stopping for a drink in the café before enjoying the green space in Lee Valley Regional Park.At Helmsman, we were pleased to be contacted by the main contractors for Lee Valley, The Buckingham Group, to supply the lockers, cubicles, vanity units and bespoke high-level cladding. We manufactured and installed 268 Bespoke Heavy Duty Laminate Lockers, with a variety of compartment configurations, and a range of different locking options.Our Heavy Duty Laminate lockers are a great option for high traffic areas, as they are more likely to withstand scratches and dents, so were a perfect choice for Lee Valley Ice Centre. The lockers also feature bespoke perforations in the doors and aluminium number plates. A selection of the lockers also have seat stands with the slats in matching laminate. A variety of locks were also used across the lockers in this project, with Ojmar Hasp locks the main choice for users to use their own padlocks, as well as Ojmar coin return locks and Lowe and Fletcher cam locks.The cubicles chosen for this project were our Front Line Cubicles with Hidden Fixings. These cubicles are tailored to suit the needs of the particular project, with bespoke sizing available. The fixings are hidden to provide a smooth surface and aesthetic finish. The cubicles were manufactured with 12mm Solid Grade Laminate from BioCarbon Laminates in colour Luna Grey, a fantastic carbon-neutral option which aligns perfectly with Lee Valley’s aim to be the first sustainable Ice Centre in the UK.As we manufacture all our products in house, and to order, we specialise in bespoke items. The project at Lee Valley Ice Centre featured bespoke high-level cladding, which our highly experienced installation team fitted on-site.Other products on this project included metal framed IPS panels, using both Luna Grey and Elegant Grey laminates from BioCarbon Laminates, and Helmsman High Pressure Laminate Vanity Units.It was great to work alongside Buckingham Group again for the Lee Valley Ice Centre project. We have installed our beautiful full-height Flow cubicles at 88 Wood Street, London, in brushed stainless steel. The brushed steel works well with both the accessories in the washroom and reflects the facade of this classic City of London skyscraper.

Our installation team started this project by fitting our brand of the Front Line changing room cubicles. They fitted the cubicles with inward opening doors. Next benches were fitted inside the cubicles at either side which provides a seat whilst changing. Thereafter, the Frontline toilet cubicles, shower cubicles, family changing areas, baby and disability changing areas were completed. The changing room cubicles were supplied with anti-peep rails. Anti-peeps rails are physical barriers fitted at the top of the cubicles.Our leisure lockers in a range of two doors and three doors were placed and bolted together. These are lockers and are ideal for use in swimming pool areas. 

We installed our Marathon Glass Wet Lockers, Cabrillant 600 Toughened Glass Cubicles and Marathon 600 Laminate Cubicles at Cannon Street. The Lockers are finished in Opti-White 10mm Toughened Glass with Mirror end panels and Hasp and Clasp locks. A bespoke interior, with captive coat hangers and aluminium shoe shelves was created. The markets most popular glass Cubicle system, Prospec Cabrillant, is a favourite of Gymbox, and the Black Glass gives an astounding finish reflecting the colour scheme of each changing room. In stark contrast, the WCs were finished in a Matt Solid Grade Laminate.

We collaborated with Washroom Fit-Out Company (WFC) to refurbish Rudheath Primary Academy’s toilet block, enhancing the space to align with the school’s ethos of inspiring learning environments.Our full height Force Privacy cubicles were chosen for their durability and aesthetic flexibility, featuring vibrant colours to create a rainbow effect. The six cubicles were finished in Polyrey’s Rouge Cerise (R036), Vinyle (V014), Zeste De Citron (Z016), Vert Bali (V109), Bleu Turquoise (B119), and Cyclamen (C189), with outer cubicles and pilasters in Noisetier Naturel (N056).For the handwashing area, We opted for an integrated plumbing system and laminate Duct Panel System, an aesthetic option to conceal the cistern work which also allows easy access for maintenance. Both the changing rooms and staff areas contain over 100 Prospec supply and installed Marathon wet use laminate lockers. Prospec Marathon lockers are designed specifically to withstand the rigours of a busy leisure centre. The installation also included other products from Prospec’s versatile Marathon range such as Marathon Conform fully framed cubicles, bespoke solid surface vanities, Cabrillant shower cubicles and both wall mounted and double island bench seating. Prospec worked closely with the specifying architects Roberts Limbrick, main contractor Pellikaan Construction, and leisure operator Places for People Leisure.

World of Books is the UK’s largest online retailer of second hand books. The brief for the Aquatics Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland – a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen City Council and sportscotland – was extremely demanding. Sustainability was put at the forefront of the design. The specification included the awardwinning Cabrillant shower cubicles, plus the versatile, durable Marathon range of Conform cubicles and Wet lockers. The locker doors are manufactured from toughened and laminated glass, which allowed the architect to incorporate quality normally associated with high-end health clubs without compromising safety of use within this heavy traffic public facility.

Both WC and Shower cubicles come in the form of Marathon System D Cubicles. Featuring a curved aluminum pilaster and headrail, the 10mm toughened float glass doors and dividers look stunning in Traffic White from the Prospec standard glass collection. Our Marathon Laminate Wet lockers are also finished in Prospec White and give users the space to lock their belongings away while immersing themselves in the one of a kind spinning experience. In a mix of 2 and 3 tier configurations, the lockers are secured with Prospec OCS electronic code locks.

State of the art changing rooms supplied with Fully Framed Cubicles, Wet area Lockers and Cubicles. A mix of Helmsman System 2000 lockers and Glass Lockers situated together totally compliment each other with walnut formica and luscious lime coloured glass doors. These were supplied along with matching vanity shelving and GRP bench seating. The colouring of the Glass shower cubicles and glass toilet cubicles was carefully chosen in a clear interlayer and clear panel glass to bring the overall look of the changing rooms together. This project oozes luxury and quality on all fronts.

The Pyramids Centre in Portsmouth has had a new lease of life with a £2.5m makeover. The ageing facility is now a modern leisure complex offering a fun attraction to the local families. The new facilities include a state-of-the-art gym, trampoline, and soft play park.Helmsman was sub-contracted to supply the lockers and cubicles package providing a turnkey solution to create a modern and sharp changing room area with a comfortable feel.For the Pyramids Centre leisure project we manufactured, delivered, and installed modern laminate lockers of 3 and 5 doors. They are heavy duty and suitable for a wet environment. A row of three-compartment lockers have an integrated cantilever seat stand matching the Abet Walnut (616) laminate lockers and cubicles. The integrated seat stand on these lockers is a great space-saving solution and is perfect for this area.The front line cubicle range fitted the requirements for the toilet and shower cubicles, installed alongside the lockers. The Walnut laminate runs throughout these changing rooms as one of the dominant colours. The cubicle partitions are in Abet Light Grey (478) to separate each cubicle and bring light into the space to complement the rest of the interior.The vanity units and timber integrated plumbing system (IPS) panels are also manufactured from the matching laminate. The IPS in the toilet cubicles are the same colour as the partitions, giving a natural flow throughout. The wall to floor benches and free-standing benches are in Walnut laminate colour as laminate slats are perfect and protected in the wet areas.Most importantly Helmsman has a dedicated and experienced in-house design team supported by its on-site factory. Helmsman worked to manufacture, deliver, and install Fully Framed cubicles, bespoke Front Line cubicles (including the ability to remove the door in an emergency) and our popular Leisure Lockers, as well as IPS panels and vanity units.Front Line and Fully Framed cubicles were manufactured in solid grade laminate from a selection of suppliers. This project consisted of many Helmsman products, with lockers, cubicles, vanity units and IPS panels being supplied. Alongside the team at Mixbrow Construction and Ipswich Town FC, we designed, manufactured and installed 8 bespoke 1 compartment laminate lockers, 1775mm high x 400mm wide x 500mm deep on a cantilevered seat stand. The theme of the changing rooms was kept slick and professional, with See Group’s Biocarbon Laminate used in colour Gabbro. This fantastic carbon neutral laminate is strong, moisture resistant, easy to clean and has antibacterial protection, perfect for a changing room project. The locks chosen for the lockers were Lowe and Fletcher 2800 combination locks, also a great choice for the coaches’ changing rooms.Whilst we offer a wide range of cubicle options, we worked with the team at Mixbrow Construction to design a bespoke floor to ceiling cubicle to fit their needs. The changing room design featured 2 Bespoke Floor to Ceiling shower cubicles and 1 Bespoke Floor to Ceiling Toilet Cubicle. Also included in the project were 4 sets of IPS (Integrated Plumbing System) Panels and a Solid Grade Laminate Vanity unit, all in matching Solid Grade BioCarbon Laminate in colour Gabbro.

Helmsman supplied the full lockers and cubicle package including, benches, an integrated plumbing system (IPS) and vanity units.Most of the lockers and cubicles manufactured, supplied and delivered were from glass. Glass lockers and cubicles bring a sense of maturity and modern feel to the changing rooms.Moreover, they also requested to have Helmsman's front line cubicles range with a floating leg and hidden fixings for a more aesthetic look.Several different types of benches are fitted in the changing rooms, including island benches, double-sided benches with coat hook bars and, benches fixed wall to the floor. Installation of the project took place in several stages, which depended on the contractors and available floor space.

This was our first new Fully Framed Cubicle System installed in a brand new Sport, Health and Wellbeing facility at the University of Strathclyde.Here the changing rooms meet modern expectations which are spacious, clean and bright. As a founding partner of Material Source Studio, we collaborated with Creative Director Darren Clanford to design two unique washroom schemes for both male and female spaces. For the female washroom, our task was to create a cubicle scheme that resonated with the client’s rich, textured palette of burnt orange and grey.For this washroom, our Curve Privacy cubicles were selected, featuring floor-to-ceiling powder-coated pilasters in a bold burnt orange RAL shade (8004) paired with storm-grey cubicle doors and duct panels in Polyrey’s Gris Orage (G059). Waddesdon School, a secondary school in Buckinghamshire, had issues with poor behaviour from students in their toilets and there was a shortage of girls toilets causing further problems to the schools. They approached Brookhouse for a solution.Our SolutionAfter visiting the school, our designers determined that the best solution was to create a open unisex washroom. By turning the washrooms into one washroom and creating an opening to the corridor meant that supervision and visibility into the area reduced the behaviour issues. This along with our unique school floor to ceiling cubicle system made in solid grade laminate and bolt through hardware, we were able achieve the durability required. Torrance Park Golf Club is set in the beautiful moorland of North Lanarkshire. A bespoke design was required for the lockers due to the unique size requirements of a golf course and our Marathon Wet Glass Lockers achieve this. Manufactured with 10mm Toughened Glass doors and a robust aluminium carcass, the lockers cater perfectly for the members golf equipment without compromising quality or finish. Our award winning Cabrillant cubicles continued the use of glass into the changing facilities in the form of showers. These are complimented by our Marathon System D WC cubicles, duct panelling, vanity units and bench seating

The £27.5 million Arena heralds the most exciting and important changes to leisure facilities in Derby in the last 40 years. The new arena is primarily a Velodrome with space for sports and physical activity; however it also serves as a venue to host cultural events, exhibitions, product launches and conferences. Prospec Marathon Connect cubicles, Marathon laminate lockers, vanity units and benching are installed throughout all of the changing areas. A spectacular curved bank of low level lockers dominates the outfield circulation area, creating both a focal point and a huge volume of storage.

Graves Health and Sports in Sheffield is a state of the art centre providing users with swimming, studio, gym, tennis, gymnastics and trampolining facilities. Prospec Marathon Conform Changing cubicles in Solid Grade Laminate and Cabrillant 700 Shower Cubicles, featuring Toughened and Laminated glass offer a more contemporary feel to the public change area. Prospec Marathon Laminate Wet lockers, with coin return locks and bespoke glass end panels, add an additional element complementing the quality feel of this first class centre. A range of accessible lockers are installed throughout the facility to ensure all users have complete access.

Stratford, the latest location for the Gymbox family. It is a melting pot of fitness insanity with London's most unique classes, DJs, Personal Trainers and the very best equipment and changing facilities. Prospec has long-standing working relationship with respected interior design practice Ben Kelly Design whose Design Director Patrick McKinney is the visionary for the dynamic interior. Using a vibrant colour pallet on the Cabrillant 600 glass cubicles and glass lockers, a mirrored finish to a number of the doors, plus the innovative use of strip lighting between the banks gives the changing areas an urban nightclub feel.

The Service Department at Helmsman have been hard at work at Felixstowe Leisure Centre. The changing rooms at Felixstowe Leisure Centre were kitted out with Helmsman’s lockers many years ago, and whilst the existing lockers and cubicles had lasted a long time, they were tired and generally needed refreshing.The locker bodies were still great quality, so we manufactured and installed new doors, with new locks and numbering, and supplied wrist straps for the keys. The lockers were a fairly old design, that we don’t often have requested anymore, however as we provide the full package at Helmsman, we can manufacture most bespoke options, including replacements for lockers from other manufacturers. See our Riverside Leisure Centre Case Study for example.Our team manufactured brand new laminate locker doors with matching cubicle doors and facias for this service project. We used BioCarbon’s Carbon Neutral laminate in colour “Graphite” and Abet Laminate in colour “Yellow Pop” to refresh the changing rooms with a splash of colour, completely transforming the area from the white and blue theme that existed before. The locker doors are complete with brand new numbering and Lowe and Fletcher cam locks with wrist straps for the keys. These wrist straps are a great addition for lockers in leisure centres, providing the flexibility for users to wear their key whilst they use the facilities.It was interesting for the team to work with an older design of Helmsman locker, and with the refresh of the lockers and cubicles, the changing rooms at Felixstowe Leisure Centre look brand new again. We are proud to have been a part of the renovation and expansion works at the 18-hole championship Suffolk Golf Club for the past 12 months. We worked seamlessly with our client on this project to avoid disruption to the client base and to get the job completed as quickly as possible. The project included a range of our products, vanity units and IPS panels, front line cubicles for toilets and showers, leisure lockers, bench seating and coat hook bars, and we finished the overall look with a boxed-in pipework bespoke bench seat. 

Better Gym, North Greenwich, is one of London’s most technologically advanced gyms. The moment you walk through the doors, your Technogym MyWellness Key will provide access to the facility, equipment and of course the Prospec lockers. Working to the exacting specification of Bignell Shacklady Ewing, the Cabrillant 600 cubicles and glass lockers in a purple and white colour scheme creates a feel of modern opulence. The OTS locking system provided operates on Mifare 1k technology which is compatible with the RFID of the Technogym MyWellness Key, allowing the user to gain access to all the facility has to offer.

Irvine Leisure Centre showcases Prospec’s Cabrillant 700 cubicle system in standard float, toughened and laminated glass. Both Prospec Marathon glass and laminate wet lockers are featured within the centre, each £1 coin return lock accepting both the new and old £1 coins. Furthermore, other products installed by Prospec would include the Marathon Conform Suspended system inside the Village Change area and Disabled Access lockers which act in accordance with Sport Scotland and BREAAM guidelines. Prospec products at The Portal are finished with a contemporary colour pallet, which gives a clean and modern feel.
