Electronically controlled twin plate hydraulic heat interface unit (HIU), designed to provide instantaneous hot water and heating to the dwelling.

Features and benefits:

  • Domestic hot water (DHW) output up to 60 kW.
  • Heating (HTG) output up to 10 kW.
  • DHW and HTG controlled by pressure independent control valves (PICVs).
  • Fully insulated expanded polypropylene (EPP) casing.
  • Innovative cooling area to reduce ambient temperatures to extend component life.
  • Heat meter and pressure gauge visible with casing installed.
  • Insulated case constructed in three sections to improve access for maintenance and commissioning.
  • Standing heat loss of: 60 or 70°C: 31 W.
  • vTherm°e achieved the lowest Volume-Weighted Average Return Temperatures (VWART) at a primary flow temperature of 60°C of any BESA tested HIU: 70°C: 27.9°C (VWART). 60°C: 29°C (VWART).
  • In periods with no DHW or heating demand, the HIUs standing heat loss shall be a maximum of 32 W.

The HIU controller shall utilize the secondary side DHW and heating temperatures to control Pressure Independent Control Valves (PICVs) located on the primary side of both plate heat exchangers to maintain the temperature. A keep warm function maintains a primary flow temperature at the unit
