Stopgap P131

STOPGAP P131 is a primer designed to promote the adhesion of STOPGAP smoothing under layments to smooth non-absorbent surfaces. It can also be used as a general purpose primer for absorbent surfaces to promote adhesion and to prevent unacceptably rapid drying of adhesives and smoothing under layments. It is suitable for use in marine applications as part of an IMO system. It is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations. STOPGAPP131 is coloured green to provide the user with visual control of coverage uniformity. STOPGAPP131 should be used on non-absorbent surfaces of STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes, terrazzo, power floated concrete, quarry and ceramic tiles, sound asphalt, epoxy marine primers, well bonded epoxy and polyurethane coatings and minimal existing adhesive residue. It should also be used on absorbent surfaces such as concrete, sand/cement screeds, plywood, hardboard and chip board

Floor surfaces must be suitably prepared: sound, smooth, dry (<75%RH) and free from contaminants that may prevent adhesion. Concrete and sand/cement screeds must be fully cured and any laitance or surface treatments must be removed prior to the application of the appropriate STOPGAP underlayment. The temperature of the surface must be above 5°C when the primer is applied to the subfloor and underfloor heating must be off for at least 48 hours before, during and after application. Ensure the subfloor is dry and incorporates an effective damp proof membrane.

For internal absorbent surfaces add 1 part of STOPGAP P131 to 4 parts of clean cold water and stir until thoroughly dispersed. On particularly absorbent surfaces, a further application of STOPGAP P131 may be necessary to reduce the formation of pinholes. For internal non-absorbent surfaces, apply the primer neat. For use externally with STOPGAP 850 EXTERIOR or when used on damp surfaces, in conjunction with STOPGAP Green Bag and 114 liquid or STOPGAP 1200 PRO, under STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes, add 1 part of STOPGAP P131 to 7 parts clean water onto lightly textured concrete and sand/cement screeds. Apply STOPGAP P131 evenly to the whole surface to be treated and allow it to dry completely, ensuring a uniform film.
