PREFALZ aluminium standing seam is available in 20 different colours, including a range of P.10 finishes. It is lightweight, malleable, corrosion resistant, rust proof and A1 non combustible.

Prefalz® is highly malleable and therefore easy to shape. This results in countless individual design possibilities.


Using Prefalz® includes all the advantages of aluminium, combined with a material guarantee of 40-years.

NOTE: An aluminium standing seam roof does not have any specific requirement with regard to the insulation, unless it is used as the substrate for the standing seam in a warm roof build-up. In this instance, the insulation must be dense in quality and supportive of foot traffic without denting, with a minimum compression strength of 50 kpa (0.5 kg/cm²) at a maximum of 10% deformation and remain dimensionally stable at 100°C.

24 mm open gap softwood boards.

Guidance for specification option:

24 mm open gap softwood boards, according to EN 12775-2. In widths of 100 mm to 125 mm and laid with 3-5 mm gaps between the boards parallel to the eaves, with fastener heads driven just below surface. 50 mm minimum vented cavity, 25 mm open air inlet at the eave and 25 mm open air outlet at the ridge. 50 mm cavity created with a batten. Standing seam fixings, and positioning, as per PREFA installation instructions and FTMRC Guidelines. Pitches from 3° to the vertical.

 

 System build-up:

 

  • Interior finish.
  • Vapour control layer.
  • Insulation.
  • Membrane. Vapour permeable sheet in accordance with BS EN 13859 -1.
  • 50 mm ventilated air space (minimum).
  • Rafter.
  • Batten.
  • Open-gap timber boarding.

18 mm WBP external grade plywood.

Guidance for specification option:

18 mm WBP external grade plywood - EN 314 bond class 2 and EN 636-2 timber performance. A 50 mm minimum vented cavity must be created under the plywood using battens. The cavity must have a minimum 25 mm open air inlet at the eaves, and a minimum 25 mm open air out let at the ridge. Standing seam fixings, and positioning, as per PREFA installation instructions and FTMRC Guidelines. Pitches from 3° to the vertical.

 

System build-up:

 

  • Interior finish.

  • Membrane. Vapour permeable sheet in accordance with BS EN 13859 -1.

Ventilated galvanized steel metal deck.

Guidance for specification option:

0.9 mm thickness. To give a minimum clip pull-out value of 400 N, installed 'façade side outwards' to give maximum support to the standing seam panels, parallel to eaves, all ends supported. A 50 mm minimum vented cavity must be created under metal deck, using a bracket and rail system. The cavity must have a minimum 25 mm open air inlet at the eave and a minimum 25 mm open air out let at the ridge. Standing seam fixings, and positioning, as per PREFA installation instructions and FTMRC Guidelines  Pitches from 3° to the vertical.

The manufacturer recommends a minimum substructure roof pitch of >7° (13%). Roof pitch from 3° is possible. From 3–7° it is required to seal the seams (using PREFA Sealing Gel). The position of clips will be according to roof pitch – consult PREFA planning guide.
