SOLEAL Next casement is available in visible and minimal design, open-in and open-out to adapt to all types of architectures. There are multiple applications, shapes and colours and provides high performance levels for weather tightness, thermal, acoustic and sustainability complying with most international standards.

Guidance for specification option:

Notwithstanding any information within this Specification, all framing and infills shall be capable of withstanding the design wind loadings calculated in accordance BS EN 1991-1-4, and imposed loads as defined in BS EN 1991-1-1, and the Specialist Contractor shall carry out calculations to demonstrate this.

Background ventilation

Trickle ventilation.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Each window unit to be fitted with colour-matched powder coated aluminium trickle ventilators, to meet Building Regulations (e.g. Approved Document F, 2021). Ventilator to be secure and adjustable, complete with insect screen. Ventilator to be fitted through dedicated frame above the head of the outer frame, of identical material and finish to framing.
  • Where the window is of insufficient width to accommodate the level of ventilation required by Building Regulations the Specialist Contractor shall bring this to the attention of the Contract Administrator.
  • Trickle ventilation shall also comply with Approved Document J and BS5440 Part 2: 2009 with respect to ventilation of gas burning appliances. This requirement shall take precedence over the requirements of Approved Document F1.

Acoustic performance rating

Rw up to 48 dB.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Up to a maximum Rw = 48 dB (with double glazing 50 mm: 88.2 Si / 20 / 66.2 Si).
  • Actual performance dependant of glazing infill performance - to be determined, refer to acoustic report.

Insert requirements.

  • All frames and other sections to be extruded to EN 12020, EN 573-3, EN 515 and EN 775 -1 to 9 from aluminium alloy specification 6060 T66 comprising a minimum of 75% recycled end-of-life aluminium (post-consumer scrap) and a GWP (A1-A3) of no greater than 1.9 kg of CO2e/kg of aluminium.  Provide EcoPlatform third party published EPD conforming to ISO14025 and EN15804+A2 to confirm the above. 
  • All aluminium billets and extrusions to be sourced from cast house and extrusion plants certified by Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) for Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard  
  • Thermal break comprising glass reinforced polyamide extrusions PA66 GF25 mechanically jointed to form a single compound profile. 
  • The thermal break is to be applicable to all profiles, including vents, couplers and cills. 
  • Joints to be sealed with sealants as specified by the aluminium systems company fabrication manual. 
  • All fabrication to be strictly in accordance with the system company’s Design and Fabrication and current Technical Bulletins.
  • Window manufacturer to affix their CE or UKCA Marking label to all windows.

Polyester powder-coated in accordance with BS EN 12206-1: 2021.

Guidance for specification option:

Any special warranties or guarantees (such as marine or industrial/ chlorine) to be issued directly by the powder supplier and agreed prior to material order.

All finishing to be undertaken by Hydro Building Systems prior to delivery to the manufacturer.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Glazing to windows to be secured by means of glazing beads.
  • Glazing to be hermetically sealed double-glazed units, in accordance with Building Regulations. Composition of units to be confirmed, with laminated low-e clear glass inner pane (to BS EN 356: 2000 P1A where required for PAS24 compliance).
  • Where self-cleaning coating is applied to the external pane, use non-silicone lubricated gasket.  Specialist Contractor to supply confirmation from glass supplier of gasket compatibility.
  • All glazing in WCs and bathrooms shall have obscured glass to the inner pane.
  • All glass within 800 mm from FFL shall be toughened or laminated. (Below 1500 mm if within a door or 300 mm of a door). 
  • Manifestation design and location to be confirmed by the Contract Administrator.
  • Recommendations of the Glass and Glazing Federation should be adhered to.
  • Heat soak test all toughened glass used as outer pane above ground floor or in all overhead glazing in accordance with BS EN 14179.
  • Carry out thermal safety check to all glazing. 
  • Full height barrier glazing to comply with; BS6180: 2011 Barriers in and about buildings. Code of Practice in respect of relevant point, U.D.L and line loads. 
  • Solid infill and spandrel panels to be tested and classified to Class A2 s-1, d0 or A1 according to BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009 for reaction to fire.  
  • Glazed-in louvres to be tested and classified to Class A2 s-1, d0 or A1 according to BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009 for reaction to fire.  

Hardware

  • Stainless steel friction hinges with optional non-lockable integral restrictor device where required. 
  • Load bearing safety devices (e.g. restrictors) to have been tested for load bearing capability to 350 N in accordance with CE/ UKCA marking requirements.
  • Multi-point locking system with/ without micro-ventilation keeps.
