Description

A simple and effective fixed aluminium C-section brise soleil solar shading system designed to reduce heat gains and glare. It is positioned around or above windows.

Features and benefits:

  • Versatile - Solar C can be mounted above or in front of windows and, as with all Colt solar shading systems, the louvres can also be mounted around corners and curves. This, combined with the various angles at which the system can be installed, ensures that the shade created is always optimal. The versatility of the system, with respect to dimensions and colours, offers many design alternatives.
  • High light transmission, low heat transmission - Unlike conventional 'Z' shaped blades, which reduce both direct and diffused light, the Solar C blade is designed to be particularly effective at controlling solar heat gain while allowing a large proportion of diffused light through the blade.
  • Potential to reduce installation time – Solar C can be provided in modular pre-assembled form and also as a panellised system.

Product reference:

Code refers to louvre blade profile type and width.

Blade profiles: Width 100–150 mm.

Each louvre profile is based around a 100 mm wide ‘C’ section, with extensions to modify the overall width.

  • Type C100: 100 mm wide plain louvre. Maximum span: 1650 mm.
  • Type C100p: 100 mm wide perforated louvre. Maximum span: 1550 mm.
  • Type C110: 110 mm wide plain louvre with chamfer drip extension to one side. Maximum span: 1700 mm.
  • Type C140: 140 mm wide plain louvre with chamfer drip extension to one side. Maximum span: 1800 mm.
  • Type C150: 150 mm wide plain louvre with curved drip extension to one side. Maximum span: 1850 mm.
  • Type C150g: 150 mm wide plain louvre with curved drip extension, returned to main ‘C’ section, to one side. Maximum span: 2000 mm.

Fascia panels:

  • Type FP180r - Attaches to louvre clip.
  • Type FP180 - Attaches to rafter.
  • Type: FP90 N - Attaches to rafter.

Support rafters:

Five rafter sections are available, together with a bracing strut - their use depends on the fixing method and the loadings on the structure.

  • Type TR 15/30: 15 x 30 mm channel section fixing to steelwork.
  • Type TR 23/30: 23 x 30 mm double channel floating intermediate section.
  • Type TR 45/30: 45 x 30 mm ‘T’ shaped channel section, cantilevered.
  • Type TR 50/30: 50 x 30 mm extended double channel section.
  • Type TR 90/30: 90 x 30 mm extended double channel section.
  • Bracing Strut 20/20: 20 x 20 mm rectangular box section.

If the wind load is not excessive, for projections less than 1000 mm, the rafter can be cantilevered from the building structure.

Maintenance walkways with kick plates and handrails can be attached to the rafter to enable access for cleaning.

Finish:

Aluminium components: Mill, polyester powder coated to RAL colours or anodised. Consult with Colt for availability of colours and to obtain samples.

Support clips:

Fixed and adjustable plastic support clips are available, grey or translucent. The plastic clip allows for thermal expansion of the blade.

  • Adjustable clips: Allow complete flexibility of louvre and rafter angle. For visual and thermal performance the louvre angle can be changed on the rafter. The louvre clip is adjustable in increments of 15°. The action of attaching the louvre blade fixes the angle.
  • Fixed clips: Available in 30, 45, 60 and 135° to set louvre angle.

Assembly:

Site assembled using mounting slots and slide bars or similar, to enable the solar shading to be adjusted to suit any facade and to suit any fixing alternatives. Unevenness can be compensated for by adjusting the slide bars in the mounting slots. Alternatively Solar C can be provided in modular pre-assembled form and also as a panellised system.
