Description

The Siniat Shaftwall insulated fire protection system protects shafts and voids in multi-storey buildings with a rapid installation system preventing continuous routes for the spread of fire. The system uses a non-symmetrical board assembly for full installation from one side of the shaft, allowing construction in tight spaces.

The frame features friction fit channels to receive Siniat Fire Core Board and a fixing flange for the installation of Siniat Fire Board ready to finish on the room side. The shaft side can also be decoratively finished using Siniat Fire Board, this is commonly used in stairwells.

For full details see the full Warranty and Proprietary Systems Policy at www.siniat.co.uk/knowledge-centre/. Etex Building Performance Limited warrants to the purchaser that the Siniat Plasterboard Solutions (“Systems”) as originally designed, built and unaltered will perform to the original laboratory performance parameters as set out in the Siniat Drywall Manual and other relevant literature as published by Siniat. The system must be constructed solely with the proprietary products and components as supplied by Siniat. The system must be installed by a professional installer in accordance with: the Siniat Drywall Manual; this specification document; CAD drawings; advice; and all relevant and applicable construction standards and regulations.

System performance

All Siniat systems should be constructed to BS 8212:1995 'Code of practice for drylining and partitioning using gypsum plasterboard', as well as BS 8000-8:1989 'Code of practice for plasterboard partitions and drylining.'

Framing

Siniat CHS1960/B CH-studs and ES1960/B E-studs; Siniat UDT62/P Deep Flange U-Tracks and JT62/B J-Tracks.

Guidance for specification option:

Include drawing reference or schedule.

Studs:

  • Siniat CHS1960/B CH-Studs at 600 mm centres.
  • All Siniat CH Studs to be 20 mm shorter than floor to ceiling height except in case of deflection requirement.

End studs:

  • Siniat ES1960/B E-Studs.

Tracks (soffit):

  • Siniat UDT62/P Deep Flange U-track.

Tracks (base):

  • Siniat JT62/B J-track.

Deflection head:

  • Include requirements, including tolerance.


Head track, base track and end studs to be fixed to structure at maximum 300 mm centres with suitable fixing by others.

A bead of Siniat Intumescent Acoustic Sealant is to be applied at all junctions between metal work and Siniat Fire Core Board.

Manufacturer guidance

All Siniat CH Studs to be 20 mm shorter than floor to ceiling height except in case of deflection requirement.

Insulation

25 mm-thick glass mineral wool.

Guidance for specification option:

Minimum 16 kg/m³.

Fixing as per current Siniat Drywall Manual recommendations.

Fire-stopping

2 x 19 mm deep strips of Siniat Fire Core Board to be placed inside Siniat Deep Flange U-Track and anchored into substrate, through Siniat Deep Flange U-Track, between studs to form fire stop at head.

Room/ corridor side: 25 mm/ 42 mm Siniat self-tapping screws; Shaft side: Friction-fitted.

Guidance for specification option:

Room/ Corridor side:

  • First layer: 25 mm Siniat self tapping screws to be placed at maximum 600 mm centres.
  • Face layer: 42 mm Siniat self tapping screws to be placed at maximum 300 mm centres.
  • Where partition height exceeds board height the appropriate Siniat Flat Strap is to be fixed behind all horizontal joints to provide substrate for board fixing. Specify under System accessories.

Shaft side:

  • Friction-fitted inside receiving edges of CH-studs & E-studs.
  • Apply a bead of Siniat Intumescent acoustic sealant between core board edges and metal framing.
  • Where partition exceeds 3000 mm in height, horizontal joints to be at alternating maximum one-third or two-thirds height with reinforcement from Siniat CH Stud noggins.

Siniat taping and jointing system using appropriate Siniat jointing materials and Siniat Paper Joint Tape.

2 x 15 mm Siniat Fire Board.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Room side.
  • Coloured pink to front, grey to rear.
  • Complies with BS EN 520 Types D and F.
  • Tapered or square edges available.
  • Boards available in various lengths up to 3000 mm and widths of 900 or 1200 mm as standard.
  • Board mass: 12.3 kg/m².
  • Reaction to fire: Euroclass A2-s1,d0.
  • Flexural strength, to BS EN 520:
  • Longitudinal breaking load: ≥650 N.
  • Transverse breaking load: ≥250 N.
  • Thermal conductivity, to BS EN 12524:2000: 0.25 W/m·K.

Fire resistance

To EN 1364-1: 90 minutes (both directions); to BS 476-22: 120 minutes (Integrity only).

Guidance for specification option:

* Integrity only. The temperature of the exposed flange of the may exceed the requirements of BS 476: Part 22:1987 within the quoted fire test period. Relaxation should be sought from the approving Authority on the basis that no combustible materials are likely to be stored adjacent to the structure where the full insulation period is required.

Metal studs, tracks and accessories conform to BS EN 14195 where required. Drywall screws conform to BS EN 14566.
