Application

Siderise MI mullion/transom inserts are specifically developed to reduce vertical or horizontal flanking noise transfer via the framing elements of curtain walled facades.

MI inserts are manufactured to suit your project’s specific mullion or transom profiles, and are easy to install.

Combustible and non-combustible options are available, and we have developed inserts to assist with various problems related to noise transfer in curtain walls

Description

Siderise Mullion and Transom Inserts comprise a range of specialist material components intended to improve the sound insulation performance of lightweight hollow framed facades or glazed areas. Whilst the inserts may be employed for the purpose of improving the sound transmission characteristics of the building envelope (e.g. outside to inside performance), more commonly they are used to assist in reducing flanking transmission between adjacent internal areas. This includes horizontal flanking (noise transfer between rooms on the same floor) and vertical flanking (noise transfer between rooms on adjacent floors). Specific optimal solutions have been developed for each of the common conditions encountered in curtain wall construction. The design of the appropriate insert considers not only acoustic performance but also ease and practicality of installation. In-house manufacturing techniques such as CNC/ die cutting or routing permit an accurate tailored fit within the particular hollow frame element.


Siderise AVC Mullion Closures (MI1- for vertical flanking):

Die-cut parts in a dense resilient foam material with a central flexible heavy membrane. Usually die-cut to the exact internal profile of the hollow frame section. Depending on the sound insulation performance required they may be deployed singly or in pairs.


Siderise MF Inserts (MI2 - for horizontal flanking):

Shaped resin bonded stonewool absorptive inserts (nominal 1200 mm length)


Siderise V Foam Inserts (MI3 - for horizontal flanking):

Shaped impregnated acoustic foam absorptive inserts (nominal 1200 mm). Robust, flexible and dust-free.


Siderise MF Inserts (MI4 - for vertical flanking):

Shaped resin bonded stonewool baffles (nominal 300 and 600 mm).


Siderise V Foam Baffles (MI5 - for vertical flanking):

Shaped impregnated acoustic foam absorptive insert baffles (nominal 300 and 600 mm lengths). Usually installed centred on the midpoint of the compartment line.


Siderise HB Inserts(MI6 - for horizontal flanking):

Shaped composite high mass layer and acoustic foam inserts (nominal 1200 mm length). Comprises a layer of V Foam with a 10 kg/m² limp elastomeric barrier membrane to one side. Fitted in pairs in a back-to-back arrangement with the barrier layers to the outside.
