Description

Shadoglass LS-4 is a back hinged system with hidden control mechanisms integrated within the main vertical supports. This enables a seamless continuous appearance when viewed from the outside, since the supports are installed to the back of the louvres.

Its carrier system is suited for use with glass, metal, fabric, wood and translucent acrylic louvres, as well as photovoltaic cells. Shadoglass LS-4 can be either fixed or moveable, and positioned either horizontally or vertically.

A Shadoglass shading system can reduce solar heat gain, lower air conditioning running costs, and lessen glare whilst maximizing the use of natural daylight. Shadoglass louvres are available in various colours, surface finishes and coatings to meet specific design requirements, allowing the quantity of heat and light entering the building to be controlled.

Product Options

Size:

  • Blade span: For glass, up to 1800 mm long without any additional supporting structure. Maximum overall glass length 3600mm (if supported).
  • Blade width: For glass, minimum 350mm, maximum 550mm.
  • Blade thickness: For glass, minimum 12mm, maximum 24mm.

Materials:

  • For glass louvre blades, consider their type, interlayer, colour, thickness, polish, frit, tint, edge treatment. Colt can advise on these aspects.
  • Side support arms, mounting brackets and support struts: Aluminium. Fasteners are stainless steel.
  • Aluminium components can be supplied with mill finish or polyester powder coated. Consult with Colt for availability of colours and to obtain samples.

Control methods:

  • ICS 4-Link: Provides accurate solar control and is particularly suited to larger projects. The system continually calculates the position of the sun and together with internal temperature and lighting sensors, controls the position of the louvres. Remote operation is also available via an internal modem interface.
  • Soltronic: A simplified version of ICS 4-Link, suitable for small to medium sized projects.

Fixing:

Consult with Colt for recommendations and details. Shadoglass can be provided in modular pre-assembled form to reduce time on site.

Structural considerations:

  • All spans subject to wind load calculations. Deflection of the louvre is limited to span / 100. Deflection of supporting structure is limited to span / 100.
  • Accommodation of thermal movement to be taken into consideration.
  • Structural tests of glass louvres may be necessary.
