Application

  • Drinking water with less than 250 mg/L of chloride concentration (to DIN EN 806-1 and DIN 1717, in addition to DIN 1988, VDI/ DVGW 6023 and Drinking Water Ordinance (DWO).
  • Heating/ radiator connection (see VDI 2035 sheets 1 and 2 and DIN EN 12828).
  • Rainwater.
  • Compressed air in compliance with EPDM sealing element at oil concentration: <25 mg/m³. (≥25 mg/m³ if using the FKM sealing element).
  • Wet sprinkler units with EPDM sealing element, dry and wet/ dry units with FKM sealing element.
  • Fire extinguisher systems in accordance with DIN 14469 (wet, dry and wet/ dry).
  • Solar installations with flat collectors (or vacuum collections with FKM sealing element).
  • District heat supply systems and low-pressure steam (using FKM sealing element).
  • Cooling water pipelines (closed circuit).
  • Anti-freeze, cooling brines up to a concentration of 50%.

Components manufactured from stainless steel and galvanized steel may not be directly connected: gunmetal thread/ adapter press connectors are recommended.

Only pipe clamps with chloride-free noise insulation inlays should be used to secure the pipes; do not use pipe hooks.

The connectors may only be pressed with Viega press machines with constant pressing force (e.g. Pressgun 6+, Picco 6+, Pressgun 4E/ 4B).

Description

Flow optimised, press connector fittings with connectors and pipes manufactured from 1.4401 and 1.4521 stainless steel material (316 and 444). Produced in accordance with DIN EN 10088, DIN EN 10312 and DVGW worksheet GW 541. System certification for connectors and pipes in accordance with DVGW worksheet W 534, for drinking water installations in accordance with DIN 1988. For dimensionally stable concealed and pre-wall installations of manifold, and riser pipes in Viega component assembly. Pipe connections and pipe available from 15 mm to 108 mm.

Sealing element:

EPDM rubber, polished black, heat-resistant up to 110°C and not resistant against hydrocarbon solvent, chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, turpentine or petrol.

Press connectors:

The press connection is double pressed - before and after the sealing element and is permanently connected to the pipe during pressing. The sealing element is not deformed during pressing.

Viega's distinctive hexagonal pressing pattern bonds fitting and pipe and provides the mechanical strength for the connection.

Material press connector:

Stainless steel 1.44.

The connectors may only be pressed with Viega press machines (e.g. Pressgun 6+ or Pressgun Picco 6+). With SC‑Contur, any connections which remain un-pressed become visible when the system is filled. The SC‑Contur is certified and fulfils the requirements of DVGW worksheet W 534, point 12.14, connectors with forced leakage.

Viega guarantees that unpressed connections are visible during a leakage test:

  • With the wet leakage test in the pressure range from 0.1–0.65 MPa (1.0–6.5 bar).
  • With dry leakage test in the pressure range from 22 hPa–0.3 MPa (22 mbar–3.0 bar).

Operating conditions for potable water installations:

Operating temperature max. 80 °C.

Operating pressure max. 1.6 MPa / 16 bar / 232 PSI.

Operating conditions heating installations:

Operating temperature max. 105 °C.

Operating pressure max. 1.6 MPa / 16 bar / 232 PSI Irrelevant of the flow direction, mixed installations are permitted.

Viega Sanpress Inox fittings are offered in various configurations, including:

  • Pipes, elbows and T-pieces.
  • Adapter pieces/ adapter elbows.
  • Couplings and reductions.
  • Flanges.
  • Wall plates.
  • Smartloop inliner technology; internal circulation pipes.
  • Compensators.
  • Stainless steel shut-off valves.
  • Stainless steel ball valves.
  • Free-flow and straight seat valves.
  • Accessories.

Pipes:

Stainless steel, laser-welded and manufactured from corrosion-proof stainless steel:

  • Material: 1.4401 (AISI 316L) (X5CrNiMo 17‑12-2), with 2.3% molybdenum for increased durability; yellow plugs.
  • Material: 1.4521 (AISI 444) (X2CrMoTi 18‑2), with PRE-value 24.1; green plugs.

Corrosion resistance:

The manufacturer suggests that the components should be protected against high concentrations of chloride generated by both the medium and by external factors. If external corrosion protection is required, the manufacturer recommends that the following regulations are followed:

  • DIN EN 806-2.
  • DIN 1988-200.
